Extremely fast and efficient service paired with affordable, satisfying sushi. Despite being packed during dinner service, their turnaround time was impressive. Only nine minutes passed between placing our order and receiving our food. The menu was extensive, with a variety of lunch and dinner combinations that offered excellent value. One drawback was that the specials board was tucked away near the restroom, so I did not discover their omakase and seasonal offerings until later. The limited time items looked fantastic and deserved much more visibility. For $26.95, the dinner combination included soup, salad, and two entrees. I selected the sashimi and tempura. *Miso Soup: warm and comforting but not the strongest. It included small amounts of tofu and seaweed, though not quite enough to make the flavors stand out. *Salad: simple but fresh overall. The lettuce could have been cleaned more thoroughly, though the sweet, nutty peanut dressing was enjoyable. *Toro Hand Roll: a special from the hidden board and well worth ordering. The rice was exceptionally seasoned with vinegar and the roll contained a generous portion of fatty tuna and green onion. There was a bit of stringiness in one bite, but otherwise this was an excellent value at $6.75. *Sashimi: eight pieces total, including three salmon, three yellowtail, and two tuna. All were thickly sliced and free of any fishiness. The tuna was my favorite despite being the leanest cut. The yellowtail and salmon were slightly chewier but still enjoyable. *Tempura: came with three shrimp and an assortment of vegetables. Everything was fried beautifully and arrived piping hot. The shrimp batter was a little thick, but the vegetables were excellent. The assortment included broccoli, sweet potato, carrot, zucchini, and pumpkin. Surprisingly, the broccoli was my favorite, retaining both texture and flavor beneath the crisp coating. *Pork Katsu: impressively portioned with three cutlets. The pork remained juicy with a pleasant chew, while the breading stayed crisp. The coating could have used a bit more seasoning, but the accompanying sauce tied everything together nicely. It was amusing how small the serving of rice looked compared to the amount of protein provided. This was not the most refined Japanese meal I have ever had, but it was remarkably satisfying for the price. I was especially impressed by the quality of the rice. The food is good, the service is ok but one cannot unsee the wet market like floors in the hallway leading to the restrooms and the open door leading to the kitchen showing filth all around. The back entrance is so filthy and smells of old garbage and reminds of a wet open flea market of some sort. It's disheartening to see the place consistently declining in cleanliness after almost 2 decades of dining there. For this review, it will be based off my my recent 2 visits. I always find myself retuning to this place for a meal. First time we got the salmon dance, salmon kama, and 4 rolls. That was enough to fill 4 people. The rolls were good but the salmon dance won all our vote for favorite part of the meal. Second visit: Def had to order the Salmon Dance again. Salmon is fresh and complimented with the radish, fish roe, and ponzu sauce beautifully. The yellowtail appetizer was delicious as well and got a nice kick. All of us liked the omg roll. That one impressed me. Rainbow roll is a good solid roll. Dinner combo means we get to select 2 items off the a set list for the price of ~$26, which is worth it considering the portion they give you. They give you full sized rolls when you order them with your dinner combos. We were all stuffed and even had leftovers. Service was good. Looked up sushi places near me and saw this one. Photos looked promising and the reviews were good so we decided to try it. I'm glad we did. The fish was so fresh. That was the best Hamachi yellowtail we've ever had. I didn't expect to like the tempura as much as I did. The squash or whatever it was was my favorite. The crunch of the tempura and the shrimp and veggies were delicious. The rest of the sushi was good. Pretty standard as far as sushi goes. Sushi is either good or it's not and this one is good. I used to eat here frequently before COVID because the food and service were consistently good. Unfortunately, over the years, I've noticed both the quality of the food and the customer service have declined. I recently decided to give the restaurant another chance because they offer a kids' chicken teriyaki entrée, which isn't something many sushi restaurants have on their menu. When placing my takeout order, I requested the teriyaki sauce on the side and asked if green onions could be added to the rice. My toddler loves green onions and won't eat his rice without them. The woman taking phone orders on 7/28/26 told me they don't allow any customization. I explained to her that this exact request had been accommodated several times before, including on a recent order the day prior through DoorDash, and that I was happy to pay any additional charge for the green onions. But she continued repeating that they don't customize orders and initially refused my request multiple times. Eventually, she said there would be an extra charge but again refused to tell me what the charge would be. Instead of providing a straightforward answer, she told me three times that the total would be "subject to an increase" and I would know the cost was when I arrived. What made the interaction especially frustrating was that she was the one taking my order and entering it into the system, so it seemed reasonable to expect she could tell me the cost over the phone. At that point, I told her to forget the green onions because it seemed like so much trouble to add them. To make matters worse, the teriyaki sauce that I requested on the side was so hot that it warped the plastic container it was packaged in. Since heat-damaged plastic can raise concerns about chemical and microplastic exposure, I wasn't comfortable serving it to my toddler and threw it away. This experience was disappointing because it wasn't about paying extra, I was more than willing to do that. It was the unwillingness to accommodate a simple request that had been honored before, the lack of transparency about pricing, and the poor customer service that left me questioning whether I'll return again. read more

Wow! I initially wanted to go to Sushi Arashi because the prices on the menu were better than everywhere else in the Bay Area, but the fish did not reflect a cheap deal. I got the nigiri/sashimi platter and they really loaded the fish on. My sashimi was cut thick and 1 piece would be considered 2-3 somewhere else. Plus, miso soup came with most meals which is a rare find today in the Bay. The rolls were also really good and I loved the variety of specialty rolls they have. The tempura serving was huge and included all sorts of veggies and two shrimp. Tempura broccoli is my favorite and there were three pieces! They even included extra dipping sauce, as I requested. There was so much I could barely finish it. The gyoza was very good, too. I like the pan fried style rather than deep fried. Yummy dipping sauce. Prices are reasonable. One of my favorite Japanese restaurant finds in San Jose! We love stopping by for a weekend lunch or dinner during the weekday. It's usually always crowded and the atmosphere is nice. The staff are always welcoming and attentive. I usually like the variety of the bento boxes with the marinated meat option with fried tempura and California rolls. The fried tempura is crispy and tastes delicious with the sauce. The California roll is creamy and smooth. The salad and rice is a really nice touch to the meal. Sushi Arashi is hands down my favorite sushi place in the South Bay. Overall, just great sushi at a great price point. Their sushi lunch combo is an amazing deal and the best way to enjoy their high-quality fish, imo. I highly recommend their sashimi, which includes two pieces each of salmon, tuna, and hamachi. The quality is outstanding none of the fish tastes fishy, the pieces are super fresh and firm, and the cuts are super thick .The sashimi here is easily my favorite and definitely stole the show. If you were to get anything here, it would be the sashimi. For sushi, we got the salmon avocado and hamachi rolls. I loved how firm and fresh the fish was, especially the salmon. The simplicity of the rolls really lets you enjoy the sizable pieces of fish. Even the fish in these rolls are generous. We also tried some of their special rolls, including the Sexy Lady, Hamachi, and Spider rolls. My favorite was the Lady roll. I loved the crispness of the flakes, and the unagi sauce was just the right amount, not too overpowering. The service here is excellent. The staff checked in frequently to refill water and take additional orders, and the atmosphere was perfect--not too loud, so you can easily have a conversation. There's plenty of parking behind the store if street parking is full. While it seems like a popular spot for DoorDash, it's just as wonderful a place to sit down, relax, and enjoy some great sushi. I've been meaning to go to this place for an exceptionally long time, but had continued to put it off before remembering as my friend mentioned wanting sushi. The parking area is a bit questionable (we entered through an area that had spikes that would prevent us from leaving the same way, but there is an exit) and somewhat crowded, but it didn't take too long to find parking in the area behind the restaurant. It was somewhat crowded inside of the restaurant, with a relatively dark and sleek ambiance. We had decided to get the sashimi special, alongside the rainbow roll and something else that I can't recall off of the top of my head but do have a photo for. Service took a while, but the portions were rather large. The sashimi was legendary. Normally I'm the type of person who prefers sushi rolls to sashimi, but the sashimi provided is thick and tasted good. The rolls also came in a decently large portion, which did leave a feeling of uncomfortable fullness once I was done, but it was satisfying enough. Although I would not try the rolls again, I would definitely come back for the sashimi. This is probably the thickest cut that I've experienced, with both an amazing texture and a wonderful taste. They also provided us with a salad (which apparently has nuts according to my friend) and miso soup (which I did not try since my friend could not eat the salad). Overall it was a pleasant experience, despite the way it ended. read more

I love The variety and selection of veggie sushi options. It's amazing - you can select so many different veggie options, which is quite rare for sushi places. That's why I keep coming back. The location is right on Lincoln in willow glen and quite centrally located. They tend to get busy during lunch time but generally you can always find a spot. If you have a furry friend, you can ask to be seated outside, which is also a nice ambiance where you can people watch. The restrooms are slightly less well maintained, I wish they could be upgraded a bit. Other than that this place is fantastic and I absolutely love it.
