This location is very easy to miss with little to no parking space. If you're lucky, you won't have to walk as much. My experience here is what I hope an average customer should expect. There was nothing really that went above and beyond customer satisfaction. Great place to socialize or take someone for a date. Sushi is good. Friendly staff. Wow what a let down. I had read good things But have no idea why after going here. I went with 2 other friends and we really like to have our faves and try some new things. we ordered 5 spicy tuna rolls. and 1-2 other rolls person. when we handed over out little menu the person taking our order tried to talk us out of eating 5 tuna rolls. we were kinda shocked after she kept saying we must have been nuts to order that many rolls between 3 people repeating it a few times and going as far to point out other things on the menu instead. we got our food fast [it helped being the only people there] and looked down to see some of the smallest little rolls at a non all you can eat place. We ate everything up quickly and found our sushi to be kinda bland. The bill had to be the worst part about the place. Almost 90 bucks for 3 people to eat 3-4 rolls each with drinks. The sushi wasn't anything special or anything with expensive seafood. What we found most enjoyable about our meal were the lights in the place. They were cool looking. Littleton isn't exactly a sushi haven (being the small town that it is), but the fact that it has two great Sushi restaurants is pretty awesome. Now when I am eating sushi I could really care less about atmosphere. If you want atmosphere + sushi in Denver, your choices are really Sushi Sasa and Sushi Den. If you want the freshest fish in town, head to Sushi Basho. The fish is amazing, and the best part (Which the other reviewer neglects) is that their sushi is big, and $1/piece when you dine in (It's $2/piece for take-out which is still a good deal). I went to Sushi Basho with a friend last night. It's a cute little place, and while it wasn't my favorite sushi ever, I was quite happy with it! Service was friendly, and actually a little too fast in my opinion-- we got our appetizer and soup basically at the same time. The menu has quite a bit of variety, with a full page of specialty rolls and a lot of appetizers and cooked options as well. We had: --calamari: crispy, not chewy, and really delicious. Probably the best part of the meal. --miso soup: not a stand-out, but good flavor. --spider roll: you can't go wrong with tempura crab and avocado, can you? --friend roll: if I remember right, this one was tempura shrimp topped with avocado and crab. It was great. --spicy tuna roll: unfortunately, not impressive. Not bad either. The fish was fresh enough, but it just was missing something to make it really special. Overall, I prefer Land of Sushi, but I don't have any complaints about Sushi Basho, and their calamari would definitely earn them a repeat visit. My new editor called me last week to schedule an emergency business dinner and specifically requested sushi. I checked Yelp and found this place right near by and hoped for the best. We were all very happy with the choice. It's a very intimate setting and the servers were very sweet and understanding when we forgot to check the menu because we were too busy talking shop. It was slow when we arrived, but even after business picked up the noise level was perfect - loud enough that we didn't feel awkward getting excited, but quiet enough that we never had to strain to hear each other. The establishment was perfect for a relaxed, professional dinner. I don't remember everything we ordered, but I do remember that I was very impressed by the Golden Roll and the Friend Roll. I was particularly excited about how supple and soft the salmon was - it smelled so fresh that you could taste it before it reached your mouth. Divine! The rest of the sushi must've been unremarkable, though, because I don't remember it at all. If you do go to Sushi Basho, don't forget dessert. The fried bananas and green tea ice cream were probably my favorite part of the night - the ice cream was pretty obviously commercial boxed product (my guess is Haagen Daaz), but the banana's wonderful texture made up for it and more! read more

UPDATE: Hmmm, seems something has changed. Last time we were in they'd substituted a cheaper thinner slab of salmon (perhaps the Atlantic "salmon," which isn't truly a salmon) for the better stuff they used to serve. Prices have gone up. I'm not happy with the television they felt a need to hang on the wall, either--that's new. We aren't going as frequently and I've lowered my rating from four stars to three. It's okay, but not great. The service is still wonderful, we love the people who wait tables at Sushi Basho, they're consistently friendly and efficient. There are curtains on the windows but they're left open, so the camera on the traffic light still flashes into the room. Oh well. We'll see how this goes, but we're definitely not frequenting the place anymore. My previous review: We eat here pretty frequently (a couple of times a month) and it's always been consistently good. We usually order a couple of rolls and sometimes we'll get one of the main dishes like a teriyaki. We have never had a bad experience at Sushi Basho. My only complaint is the flashing light from the camera-enforced traffic signal outside. Curtains would take care of that! It can be incredibly distracting if you're sitting near the window. Oh and it would be really nice if the salads were less white iceberg lettuce and more of the good, deep green stuff--I often leave most of the salad, in spite of liking the dressing. The miso is good. The service has always been very efficient and the waitresses (don't think we've ever had a waiter) friendly. We like to eat here when we want something predictably good. read more

I went here for the first time last month and was so happy I did! The sushi is really great and wonderfully prepared. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The only complaint I had was about a family sitting near me who arrived and they were unforgivably rude by how loud and obnoxious they were. The parents and kids (total of 6) were laughing and screaming and then they opened their chopsticks and proceeded to pretend they were playing drums by hitting them against the table. They kept going and going and going.... You get the picture. Then, if that weren't annoying enough, they placed the chopsticks in their noses and ears and started taking selfies while squinting their eyes and one kid kept saying, "Take me to your leader." Of course, all of the laughing and screaming ensued. WTF were they thinking? This is beyond rude to do in ANY restaurant and I'm sure it had to be incredibly offensive to the employees. Met a friend here and had the three-roll lunch special plus a shrimp tempura roll to split (yes, I can pack it in). My three rolls were the California, the Boston and the spicy salmon. All of them were quite good, particularly the spicy salmon and the shrimp tempura roll. I will admit to being surprised ... mainly as since arriving to Colorado I have been disappointed repeatedly by the local sushi offerings. Rolls have been too fat and separated, unrefined and un-fresh. Did.Not.Want. The rolls at Sushi Basho, however, were fresh, tasty, compact and came out fast. Service was efficient and attentive. This place is in Littleton, which is farther away than I'd typically drive, but for good sushi I'd chase a rainbow. Recommend. Will be back again, and soon. read more

I am an avid Sushi Den goer, and have had sushi all of the U.S. I will pick Sushi Basho any day, for a more reasonably priced sushi meal, compared to the Sushi Den. I generally compare the salmon sashimi from place to place, to use as a measure of "freshness". Their salmon is right up there with the Sushi Den. I love their specialty rolls as well. I am a big fan of the Duke roll and the Coconut roll. I like to add jalapeno to the Coconut roll, to take away from the sweetness factor. It is generally not too busy here, which I am surprised by. It is very casual, and basic inside. I love downtown Littleton! What a great location. I highly recommend Sushi Basho, and I have been known as a "sushi snob". read more

This has been my go to for years until last night. I was excited when I saw Groupons. The first time I tried to use the Groupon. I was told that I couldn't because it was dine-in only. That was my mistake. I misread the deal. I even had bought 2 of the Groupons. (The Groupon was $9 for $15 toward sushi). Then I finally dined-in. I purchased over $60 off the regular menu and only 1 piece of salmon off the happy hour. They told me I couldn't use it again because I had a special on my ticket. My option was for them to increase the piece of that salmon sushi to regular price or not use my Groupon. I asked if I can divide the check and pay separate for the one piece of happy hour sushi. That way I can use the Groupon on all the other items worth $59. They said no for $1. I have been a regular for 8 years. In fact, I did a different take out order last week to take sushi to my father in assisted living. It is a monthly tradition and I will start to go somewhere else. They are sleezy. We order here pretty regularly for the past few years and the sushi is generally good for Littleton. We ordered for pickup and when I arrived someone else had mistakenly taken my order. The manager then says they will make a completely new order for me and proceeds to call the other customer who took my order. While waiting the other customer comes back about 5 minutes later with my order and proceeds to take his order at the counter. The manager then took my order to the back. She proceeded to re bag one of the rolls in a new bag. I asked to see all the rolls that were discarded and she only shows one of the rolls. I asked to see the other one we ordered and she goes to the back and does not return. The sushi chef comes back 5 minutes later with a new roll. The manager straight up lied and re-served us a roll that had left the store with another customer. Needless to say we will not come back to Sushi Basho. We're saddened because we've loved coming here for a long time. read more

Went for lunch, did the 2-roll lunch combo. While everything was edible, it was also very bland. The salad dressing was the only element with any flavor. There was far too much cream cheese in the Philly roll - it overpowered the smoked salmon. The spicy tuna roll was so mildly spiced that at first I thought I'd been given a plain tuna roll. Bottom line, the fact that it is the only sushi joint close by this part of Littleton probably has more to do with the success of this place than anything you're going to find on your plate. read more

My boyfriend and I love Sushi Basho. We moved to Colorado just over a year ago from Miami, and sushi wasn't something I expected to enjoy as much in a land-locked state. But, we stumbled upon Sushi Basho one evening, and it's been our only sushi hangout since we moved. It's a small place, nothing fancy. But, it's clean, and I find the ambiance charming. The wait staff has never been anything but helpful and kind. Everything is very reasonably priced, and we tend to stick to basic rolls (Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Eel, Tuna, etc) and we occasionally pick an appetizer. The Tuna Poke is amazing, truly - the creamy sauce they mix with what I have guessed is ponzu sauce is just decadent. Today, we had the fried calamari, and we LOVED it. Perfectly spicy and the panko covering on the calamari was -perfect-. And, the calamari were nice and soft, perfectly cooked. Sounds so simple, but 9 out of 10 times that I ordered fried calamari, anywhere, I am served a plate of gummy, overcooked junk. The rolls are great - not the very best I've ever had, but very, very good, nonetheless. I could stand to see a bit more filling in the rolls, but the amount they give is certainly a decent amount. I've never had a single piece of fish that tasted fishy - and, believe me, I'd be out the door if I did. I scrutinize raw fish pretty hardcore, and this fish has always been very fresh tasting. Overall, a great (if not small), inexpensive sushi joint. Definitely try it out at least once. I've considered trying out some of the other sushi spots in the Denver area, but I can't see paying more money for similar food, just because those restaurants get hype and have fancy locations. If you just want good food and don't care about how snazzy the place looks, check this place out. read more

Sushi Basho is situated right off of Santa Fe and Bowles Ave; a bit of a weird parking lot shared with Toast, which I also want to try out sometime. Ryan K. and I came here on a Wednesday evening around 5pm. We were greeted by several servers and got our order in quickly. Prompt and friendly service = great! We ordered some sashimi and sushi rolls. The sashimi was thickly cut and a bit frozen; not the freshest we've had, but it was still decent quality. The sushi rolls we ordered: Philly roll (I ALWAYS go for this at any sushi restaurant), spider roll, unagi roll, and spicy tuna roll. All status quo--nothing to write home about but not terrible either. Sushi Basho was a good place to visit, but not super stellar. At least their sushi satiated our sushi cravings though. read more

I eat a lot of sushi and I am writing this review strictly on the fish/food quality. Sashimi was served warmer than it should be and the white tuna we ordered was not white tuna. It turns out they have a "super white tuna" which is in actuality,the regular white tuna that you would find anywhere else. $1 piece each is a FANTASTIC deal for sashimi though! We ordered two rolls and they were alright... The hurricane (tempura fried) and the kamikaze. They were pretty basic and lacked flavor. For the amount of food we normally order wth sushi (beer/sake included) the bill usually comes to $120-140. At sushi basho, it ended up being $90. This place is decent for sushi novice eaters, but if you eat a lot of it like me I would not recommend coming here. You ER what you pay for. read more

I had not gone here until a friend took me last night and was blown away by the freshness of the fish. I had the Blue Fin Tuna special, the Yellow Tail jalapeño, the golden roll which had mango cilantro cucumber and salmon and all were amazing. I also had sunomono which for once had enough of the dressing on it where most places skimp. I was most impressed by the blue fin tuna. I have never ever had fish melt in my mouth the way that tuna did. Also their ponzu like sauce was out of this world! I have to go back this week. I'm now craving this place! read more

For years a coworker of mine used to go here for lunch and often invited me. At the time I was not a sushi eater and fearful to go. So glad I got over my fear and have begun experiencing the joy of good sushi! Stopped here last night to try it out finally and was very happy that we did. Having visited Hapa in the DTC recently and been extremely disappointed with them, my boyfriend and I both agreed Sushi Basho beats Hapa hands down! Quality sashimi (priced by piece so you can try new things easily), and really good sushi rolls. We went with yellowtail and salmon sashimi (to gauge a good comparison as this is something we order everywhere) and two types of rolls. Very happy with our choices. We will be back to try new things. Staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful. The decor is simple, but cute. read more

This was my first time trying out Sushi Basho. I didn't want to drive anywhere since it was currently snowing. I ordered delivery by grubhub for an appetizer, snow roll and dragon roll. The food was good but I just wanted to make a note that I asked for 6 sides of eel sauce and to charge as needed. I used to love coming here, but the last few times have really ruined this place for me. The food is amazing, but the service sucks. So second to last time I came in with my partner, we were completely ignored. It took 10 minutes to be greeted after we were sat. My drink came out after we had gotten our food, and we never got checked up on. We felt so unwelcome when we first arrived there that we almost left. We went in about 3 days ago, and were told that a new person bought the place so we gave it a shot again. We received 2 menus with different pricing. When I asked we were told we would be getting the lower prices of course. But again, we were not greeted for over 10 minutes until a gentlemen came up and asked us if anyone has taken our drink orders. Tables around us got checked on multiple times where we did not get checked on. When the check came we were charged the higher prices. I asked about the prices and the lady said there was no way to change the prices in the computer and we had to pay for the higher prices. I come here often and I have never been disappointed. The sushi is always fresh and innovative. They always have several specials on their dry erase board. They always have great sake and other alcoholic beverages. I was just in picking up takeout and they had a young lady at the bar probably six years old and they were giving her a taste of miso soup and other things she could try to see what she might like! I love the appetizer called dynamite it is probably not good for my cholesterol though it is rich and the wishes. I love the Duke role, kamikaze roll, Dragon roll and rainbow roll. read more

I love Sushi Basho for a lot of different reasons. It's inexpensive, the food is great, the wait staff is always so friendly, and we never have to wait for a table. the parking lot is a little bit of a cluster at times but overall it's not that big of an issue if you know how to drive. I am a huge fan of the green salad with the soy ginger dressing that they have. The salad is nothing fancy but I really prefer it that way so you can taste the dressing, sometimes the lettuce is a little wet and causes the dressing to come off as watery. My favorite sushi rolls are easily the King Roll, it has crab and mango and is just all around a special roll that everyone should try. I'm a huge fan of the spicy tuna, philadelphia roll, and the alaskan roll. If you get anything at Sushi Basho you must get the Alaskan Roll!! It is amazing. All of the ingredients they use are fresh and you can truly taste a difference in the quality. read more

This place is a true gem! My wife and I stumbled upon this place on a whim a couple years ago and haven't bothered with another sushi place since. The quality and freshness of their fish is top notch and the prices are very fair (they dont skimp on sashimi cuts either!). Even during COVID and the "takeout world" we live in, the quality has remained, which can be a little tricky with raw fish.
