This was our second time eating here. The first time was mediocre, but today, WOW. We seated ourselves and we're almost immediately greeted by our server with a smiling face and great attitude. Was really craving sushi and thought to give this place a try. I went with my gf and my daughter. As soon as we opened the doors there was a sign that said to seat yourself. As we did we wanted 10 minutes and still nobody came. We saw there was one server. As much as I tired to be patient, I saw 4 groups that sat down and was offered menus right away. We also tried to grab the servers attention but she acted like she didn't see us. After a good 30 minutes we got up and left and also saw a few tables leave as well. The aroma inside smelt amazing! Disappointing. Overpriced sushi. Even with happy hour pricing. I was intrigued by the sushi pizza. But there was just something about cold sashimi on top of hot rice that wasn't right. I mean I get it. The rice has to be hot since it was fried. But having the raw fish on top was weird to me. Maybe bake the seafood too so it's like a baked dynamite or something. Service was ok. Very slow and disappointing service for to go. I placed an order for pickup at a specific time 3 hours before it needed to be picked up. When I arrived it wasn't ready at all and I had to wait by the door more an extra 20+ minutes for them to "get the rest together". It seems to me they never had it ready at all and they were just putting it together when I arrived. We are actors at a local theatre and we only have 45 minutes to eat in-between shows which is why I placed the order so early so it could be ready for us at a specific time because we don't have much time to eat. It's unfortunate that we will barely have time to refuel ourselves. Will probably think twice before ordering a to-go again, especially if you need it at a specific time. read more

Went in for dinner for the first time and ended up sitting at the bar. The food was okay and the service was good. The reason for this rating was people preparing food were not covering noses with masks and they packed the restaurant with zero distancing. People were stacked at the bar. This would be cool after everyone is vaccinated however made us uncomfortable enough to leave. read more

I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because of the service and will definitely try this location again. They will really need to step it up to impress because I left feeling bummed! I was originally going to go to a different restaurant for dinner and at the last second noticed sushi brokers and had heard it was great. I went in with high expectations. I stepped in to find the place half-full and at happy hour except no one greeted me at the door. I stood there for a few minutes and no one came by to seat me so I decided to seat myself at the bar counter. No one said 'hi', no one welcomed me, no one brought me water. Instead I was handed the menu, told it was happy hour and the individual rushed off. I went over the menu and made my selections but no one ever came by to take my order, or if I had any questions, and the place was not that busy for a Saturday afternoon. I decided to take my menu and went back to the hostess stand to see if I can get anyone to notice I was there. Finally, a gentleman came out and apologized. Great. He didn't take me to a table, I gave him my order and he left me at the front of the building, so I again, seated myself at a table. No one ever came by with anything else. I certainly did not feel welcomed, I felt awkward. Yet looking around at the other tables I can see the waiters, and even the host who reappeared, taking care of the other guests and couldn't help but feel cheated of having that kind of experience -- simply because I was there to eat on my own. I was fully prepared to walk out had my food not arrived in sufficient time. I ordered the las vegas, surfer and damn good. The las vegas came out missing the avocado. I flagged someone down and told them the avocado was missing and they went back to correct it--only to come back to the table to tell me it was there but it was small enough to miss. Do not tell me I am wrong when I fished around the roll and yielded no avocado. They corrected the mistake but the las vegas roll was made so big that the filling kept falling out whenever I lifted up a piece. I liked the damn good with the sweet chipotle sauce. Surfer was alright but not my favorite. They did keep my drink refilled which I was pleased with. When it came time to leave, it took nearly 10 minutes for someone to notice I was waiting for someone to come by to collect my card to pay. I am going to give Sushi Brokers another try and I encourage everyone else to, I enjoyed the meal. If Sushi Brokers managers peers at this please be sure every guest, whether they are eating alone or with a group, is treated as everyone else and to make that dining experience top notch. I was very excited to plan my friends 30th birthday as she chose this location to celebrate it at. For a party of 10+ you think a restaurant would allow you to make a reservation even if it is the weekend but that wasn't the case. Once we sat down our server did the best she could to accommodate our party however I believe she was overwhelmed. It took a while for us to get drink orders as well as ordering food. I don't blame our sever but in my opinion there should be more servers on the weekend. When we finally got our drink orders as well as food it took a while for us to get everything not to mention having to ask for refills on our drinks as well as additional orders ( more than the usual time it would take for a large party). The food was decent but over priced and the only issue we had was finding hair in the yellowtail sashimi that was ordered, as well as being served additional food that we didn't order and just being stuck with the extra rolls . Most of our party left frustrated and dissatisfied. The birthday girl was disappointed and regretted her decision on choosing this location. This use to be one of our go-to restaurants in GIlbert. Over the last year, the service has gone downhill because management is cutting corners. They moved to seating yourself which is odd as the price point doesn't match that level of service. There is typically only 1 or two waitresses for a full restaurant. This is an unreasonable expectation. Yet, we continued to come back. Today we visited for lunch and it was terrible. They are out of a LOT (Tuna, albacore, hot tea, ) were the items we attempted to order. We left having to feed our kids elsewhere and they typically eat as much as we do. The chicken is deep fried and not edible. The tempura is frozen. It's unfortunate as we loved having a sushi restaurant downtown. Unless the management starts to provide quality food again they won't be around long. The management is never present which is surprising given that they are losing their business. read more

So we tried Sushi Brokers a while back and the experience was well less than expected based on the ratings. We decided to try it one more time as we were in the area. If it were possible it was even worse this go around. I truly believe if not for the location being in downtown Gilbert that this place would not make it. When we walked in there were only roughly 4 tables with customers while nearly every other table had not been cleaned in who knows how long as we were there for 90 minutes and they still hadn't cleaned them. Nothing like staring at dirty tables while you're eating an (overpriced) meal. We should've just left after waiting 5 minutes for the hostess to find us a clean table in a nearly empty restaurant. Once seated we sat there for about ten minutes before asking the hostess if we had a waitress. Finally greeted by the very personable waitress (not!) we ordered an appetizer, several rolls and a few pieces of sushi. The pot stickers arrived not completely cooked and literally tasted like a bland wonton. The rolls arrived and this has to be some of the worst fish I've ever eaten bar none. We also had a surf and turf roll that had the taste of a wet sock at best. Oh and during all of this our waters sat empty thru nearly the whole dinner as we watched our waitress chat it up with her co workers the whole time. (I really needed that water to wash this stuff down). The icing on the cake was waiting and waiting for our last item to arrive (which it didn't until we reminded our waitress). It was absolutely apparent that she never put it in as she went straight to the register to place the order instead of looking to see why it hadn't come. When it did arrive My daughter noted it tasted like Windex. I had to try for myself and confirmed! Windex!!! I literally feel robbed! Like someone stuck me up at a bank and took my money! I have to assume this place gets some decent rating cause most people don't know good fish or sushi. Save your money and head to Sushi-Ya or Temari for better prices and fish! I have ventured to Sushi Brokers a few times now. The first time was wonderful, I felt like the ambiance was fun and yet mellow. The sushi was great and the service was great. In more recent visits it appears the quality has severely tanked, worse each visit. Today we visited and ordered the spicy garlic edamame, potstickers, spicy volcano chicken and 2 sushi rolls (we order the same thing most of the time). We were two of maybe 4-6 customers. The food: The edamame was overcooked and mushy, the potstickers had practically no flavor (where they used to be wonderful), the chicken was good flavor but the portion was way smaller and the chicken had more fat and tendons, and the sushi was not inedible but very stale (we watched it sit out after being made for too long before being delivered). The service... its just terrible! The food used to make it worth it but today, we are done. We truly were nice to our waitress and did leave a tip because its their income. However the drinks were left empty for way too long, there was an attitude from the waitress, she just clearly didn't care or want to be there, she gave us water when we sat but never asked our drink order we had to ask for drinks, she asked in a walk by if the food was good and when she took our food to clear the table she came back 15 minutes later and asked if we wanted the check. We were really hyped up to try this place out since we'd heard a lot of rave reviews - in my opinion, it was good but not great. The Crab Rangoons were fine but the sauce they came with was a little strange. It was tasty but it was so thick/goopy that it was hard to get some on the crab rangoon when dipping. I think the huge chunks of mango (or peach?) didn't help either. We ordered the Summer Roll and the Crunchy Roll to try. They were both good but nothing out of this world/blowing my mind. I will say the fact that the Crunchy Roll is $10.75 *as a happy hour price* blows my mind a little bit. Way overpriced. The Lychee Bellini was delightful - my favorite part of the experience. Overall, Blue Wasabi has a better happy hour. Way more variety and better value. This place is a good enough second choice though! read more

I love coming to this place - it's an open space atmosphere with a modern interior decor. My favorite spot is their patio seating. Their sushi is delicious and fresh. My kids loves their chicken friend rice so it's a win-win for this mom. My husband's favorite roll is the Hot Lips. Their poke bowl is really good, as well. My youngest favorite is their Yellowtail Sashimi...she can eat those for days! read more

I like this place. I first tried them at an event where they were giving free samples. I couldn't believe how good it was. I decided to take my husband there one evening. We started with the crab ragoons which were stuffed full of crab and so delicious! We also had the smoked salmon shushimi and my hubby had the eel. I had the rainbow roll and a custom roll they made for me. It was all so very delicious. I really like the beautiful booths they have on their patio. They have excellent service, great sushi, will make any custum roll you want, and wonderful atmosphere. They are unique in that they have sushi, but also American bar food. This would be a great place if you have some in your group that do not like, or want, sushi. There is something for everyone. read more

I really liked the open space for the restaurant the the amount of outdoor seating as well. The server was very attentive and had good recommendations for us. Being a party of 10, it did take some time to get our food out but we all received it within 3-5 minutes and we're happily digging in to the delicious food. I ordered the half Sushi Pizza for $17. The whole pizza was $25 and that was by far a better deal when you think about the amount of sashimi and seafood that was on the pizza. I still enjoyed my half pizza because i was unable to get through half of the plate and took the leftovers for dinner. The rice base was nice and crispy and I am a cheese lover so the amount of cheese they added was perfect. Im happy we were able to visit the location after making last minute lunch plans. I tried this location because I used to live in North Scottsdale and LIVED at the location up there. Came here tonight with my boyfriend since we moved to Gilbert and I was completely let down... Don't worry the sushi was fresh, and the rolls were delicious! Unfortunately what has us so torn about coming back after such a horrific experience is the freshness of the menu, and the dynamic variety of rolls! The service was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had. My boyfriend and I are both in the industry so while we notice a ton, we are super laid back. Tonight our server took our order, and literally NEVER RETURNED until she ran our payment, which by the way we had to go up to the hostess stand to even give payment because she never dropped a check. I promise this is no exaggeration like " no one noticed us for 15 minutes" and it was really 3 minutes and in the middle of dinner rush at 7:45 and the server just got triple sat...we legit got abandoned. I really wished we would have had cash on us to tip the hostess because she literally did everything including bringing me water the server forgot. We never got one refill on drinks, (and paid for them) had empty drinks the duration of our entire meal (give me a break I finished working out and came to eat ) and the hostess literally ran every single one of our rolls out to us. Our server never table touched, asked us if we were ok, and when my boyfriend finally went up to the poor hostess who practically served us all night to pay (I know, I know I hate when people do this but she hadn't been by the entire meal) when she dropped the check after running our card she didn't say a word. She did not apologize for her absence, never checking on us, or honestly even a genuine she was so busy and forgot about us would have been a better experience then silence after GARBAGE service. We had a $90 tab, and I really wish the hostess got the entirety of the tip or we had cash to give her, it was the WORST service I think we have ever had together. I am so bummed and the sushi was so fresh and great, but dealing with service like that usually isn't worth the 90 bucks for empty drinks and terrible, terrible, service. We came here on a Wednesday for happy hour. They went to seat us right away which we were a bit surprised by but then we realized why? They are not social distancing, we were the only ones, including staff wearing masks. As we walked to our seats we realized that even the sushi chefs, preparing the raw fish we were about to eat, were not wearing masks. ***MOLD*** Well, This is the very 1st time I've had to disagree with the majority of yelpers on a place. I had visited one time previously and had enjoyed the Sushi and Sashimi with the service being meh....however last night was possibly the worst restaurant experience from a service perspective we have every witnessed. This was a date night for my wife and I as well as our good friends and best neighbors ever from our previous home. We had all decided that despite my wife's dislike of Sushi - the rest of the three of us enjoy it and it had a few other menu items other than sushi for her to partake of. We were greeted and seated promptly as it was not full due to being a Sunday evening around 5:30pm. We were seated at H7 and Leng was our server. We debated for a bit about what to order but then put in a substantial order of several sushi rolls, sashimi, cocktails and some edamame. My wife ordered the standard burger. Some time elapsed and out came a few of our orders. When my wife's burger arrived we were set to eat. Just before her first bite she asked me if I think the bun had mold. I looked on the top bun and noticed some white splotches and a few small free centers...figuring it could be a brioche bun I thought - well maybe some flour or something just mixed with a spice, so I asked her to flip it over and look at the bottom - much to our dismay much larger splotches green and white mold that was developing on the rotting bread. Insert an Anthony Bourdain bewildered look and a notion of "Dennys" and some other less than fine dining establishments should never make this mistake let alone a higher priced specialty sushi bar and restaurant....but I digress...... We tried to flag down Leng, however she was not present so I took the plate and kindly gave it to the other young man who was waiting tables. I said there is mold on the bun and that this not going to do. He took it back and about 5 min later Leng showed with another burger in hand for my wife saying sorry (which lack any type of real feeling that it was a problem - more of a casual non emotive yeah sorry look) and that she would see if they could give us a free dessert. We nodded and finished eating but really wondering how this could have really happened. I mean Anthony Bourdain would have started tossing tables and fired half if not all the kitchen staff if he had found out someone in his restaurant had served a mild bun to a customer. When long came back she asked if we wanted a free dessert....we declined as we were full and I had ask her perhaps you can really do something more about the moldy meal being served. She then proceeded to bring the check back with a $10 credit. This now even more insulting was less than a credit for the actual burger itself. Now, we weren't at this point asking for her to comp the whole dinner, however in a proper establishment run well and looking to really make up for something that should never NEVER happen, maybe come the meal so that the customer knows that you feel the ball was dropped big time and your looking to save some face. At very least perhaps a credit for the actual $15 burger that was served with mold. But alas, NO. We paid the bill and on the way out the hostess asked how we were. We advised her we were extremely disappointed and that a call to the health department might just be underway. Now this girl who had nothing to do with the incident and as simply seating people ran back to the bar (where apparently the owner (Jeff) was seated and spoke to a lady sitting next to him as we were walking out the door. 50 yards outside we get an "excuse me" from this lady and proceeded to explain to her what had happened. She attempted to convey that she as sorry and that although she didn't work there she "worked" with the "owner" and she as siting next to him at the bar inside, and that she would go talk to him quickly to see if she could do anything. She came back with a few dollars balled up in her hand and handed my friend $12 and said I hope this helps. We asked why she was doing this if she didn't work there and she advised that she just felt bad for us having this experience. Maybe she was the owners girlfriend or something, but to have her go back in and for possibly a 2nd time inform the owner of what took place and then him continue to sit and enjoy his cocktail not even getting up to express and remorse to his 4 clients that were leaving. This infuriated us even more that the owner could care less and that his possibly girlfriend was trying to play a very bad intermediary for a situation that could effect his business directly. We left without further incident and decided that we will never go back based on this lack of service, lack of cleanliness, and certain lack of care for patrons of this establishment. I am remiss I did not photograph the buns with my phone but after this incident I will be more focused next time something like this happens as it is a health issue at a minimum. read more

My wife, son and I had a great dinner. We were warmly greeted and quickly seated at our booth. Our waitress Leng (hope I spelled her name correctly) was the best. She was friendly, professional and was extremely attentive to our needs. We all ordered a bowl of miso soup and shared some garlic and spicy edamame. They tasted great. My son and I both had teriyaki chicken with steamed rice and vegetables and my wife had the sashimi salad. One word described our dinner.....yum! We'll definitely be back. read more

We just had dinner at Sushi Brokers Gilbert- we ordered appetizers and notheing came out in nearly 40 minutes and we asked where our appetizers were. The bartender was clearly scrambling and went back to the computer with no explanation. There was no apology for what happened. Which could have gone a long way! The couple next to us that sat after us, got their appetizer and sushi while we were still waiting on edamame... We could see the bartender go and enter our order after we asked where it was. It doesn't take 40 minutes for edamame- especially when it's not busy! We would have ordered more sushi but the service turned us off from ordering anymore. We got the bill and it clearly showed that he entered the appetizers after the sushi, even though they were ordered far before. They were the last two items on the bill. Again, he never owned his mistake , never apologized just entered it, and acted as though it was no big deal with no explanation or appology for this type of terrible service. Coincidentally, the last time we were here we had the same bartender/server and he also forgot items/drinks in our order and had to be reminded so we could get them. This isn't a big deal- however now we have gone twice, same server and same experience with no apology or explanation it appears this is the norm for him and the service. I stumbled on this place by accident. After a long night of drinking we were gonna continue but a very long line at the bar prevented us from doing that. So we decided to get some food and call it a night. After trying a couple places and being told they were closed, we kept walking and stumbled into the doors of a bomb sushi joint!!! It was reverse happy hour so I continued drinking. We ordered a potstickers, bowl of noodles with chicken, 4 rolls and a beer and it came out to like 60 bucks! I was totally happy with that price.
