We have been going here for years, even knew the owner. The service was horrible waited 10 mins for someone to clean off our table finally did it myself and put dishes on the bar. ordered the special and it took over 30 mins to cook then the fish was not cooked right. Didn't want to complain because it would have taken another 30 mins to fix it, They barely had anyone in the place and it seemed they just didn't want to serve you, had to hunt down someone to get us boxes to go. I watched two tables just get up and walked out because after sitting for 30 mins no one waited on them. Food has gone down hill and fish doesn't taste as fresh. Last two or three times we've been there we had not the best experience. Service was slow because it was maybe two servers in whole restaurant and our server was on training. Menus were so old and sticky, you can barely read words. Please change them! Cocktails we used to order (lemongrass and coconut) are not the same anymore. We had high hopes for this place and were severely disappointed. We got there at 5:10. There was no hostess and a sign that said "seat yourself" so we did. At 5:30 no one had come to even acknowledge we sat or give us menus, so I went up front and found a woman (she looked like a manager) to ask if we weren't supposed to sit and explained no one had come over. She said we were ok and she'd send someone right over. At 5:55 my friend had to go back up and ask for a server. (I should add they had plenty of servers we counted atleast 4 and it's not a large restaurant.) So 45 minutes after we sat a dark haired waitress came over with water and didn't apologize at all. She was very unfriendly and honestly pretty rude. We ordered drinks and then food maybe 10 min later. We didn't get our drinks until after we'd eaten and they were terrible. Their portions are very small especially for the price. The sushi pieces are half the size of what they usually should be. I also ordered a teriyaki chicken to take home to my husband. I'm not usually in the Gilbert area but was down here for an event and then met up with some friends for dinner. Going into the restaurant, it was really nice. The decor was very modern and felt open. They have a pretty large bar and plenty of seating. There is a large outdoor patio with even more seating. I was impressed on how big the place was. When you get seated they present two menus to you; one sushi and the other for everything else (the drink menu is already on the table). They have a lot of sushi and appetizers to choose from. I liked the California Club Roll, it was my first time trying it and it was a cool combination of meats with a tasty sauce to boot. For parking, you will need to choose the farther lots and walk to the restaurant. You wont be able to park right in front. It is a very quick walk though. Even though it was a really busy Friday night the staff did great. They still checked on us and made sure our drinks were topped off. Everyone was happy and were smiling quite a bit. This was exciting to see. I would recommend to try this place out. It is a nice sushi place you can go to and enjoy the experience if you are in the Gilbert area. read more

I used to love sushi brokers. Unfortunately, it is not what it used to be. My family and I came here early on a Saturday evening. I've been there on an extremely busy nights when the service is awful due to the crowd, but this last time they had no excuse for the awful service. The usual sushi we got was not as good as it once was; it is progressively getting worse with each visit back. Considering their happy hour prices keep going up, its not even worth happy hour anymore. The one thing we all did agree on was the fried rice was delicious. What a disappointing experience. We went on the Sunday before memorial around 5pm for happy hour. It was open seating, and after choosing a booth we uncomfortably waited for about ten minutes before being greeted and offered water. We ordered appetizers, garlic edamame and volcano chicken. The garlic on the edamame was burnt and gave it a bad flavor. The volcano chicken was delicious. We also ordered a crunch roll and a surfer roll. The crunch roll just tasted....off. And there was no crunch to it at all, the shrimp inside was kind of soggy and soft. The surfer roll had a nice flavor, although it's difficult to eat with a pile of shrimp and "krab" on top. I noticed that almost all of the rolls have some kind of cheap "krab" filler, but the prices are nowhere near what I'd consider cheap. Service throughout the meal was impossibly slow and completely uninterested. My water (which also tasted off) had a large black hair in it, all that was offered was a replacement water, nothing else. Downtown Gilbert is in need of a quality sushi joint, unfortunately Sushi Brokers is not it. I don't know if this location has different management, but the north Scottsdale location doesn't even seem like the same restaurant it's that much better. read more

This used to be such a good place. Went there tonight for my birthday and seated immediately. Not very busy but waited quite a while for a server. We were a group of 7 and ordered our drinks and the server brought all our drinks on one tray. When the server tried to serve our drinks, he accidentally tilted the tray and a majority of our drinks spilled all over me. I was soaked. Almost went to Clever Koi but made a last minute decision to eat here instead. Was really disappointed. Was there right at open and everything on the table was sticky and flies were everywhere. Made it really tough to enjoy the meal. I had the spicy tuna roll but the mixture had a strange texture. Had the crab rangoons as an appetizer and the Hawaiian Cosmo as a drink to start off with. Both were delicious! For our sushi entrees, we chose: Sunshine, Las Vegas, & Alaskan rolls. Very fresh tasting. The Sunshine Roll is hands down my favorite that they have on their menu! It's got the perfect hint of lemon & it's so flavorful! Topped it off with mochi ice-cream for dessert. I have been to this location twice, the first visit went smoothly and I had a very positive impression of the place. Last night I returned and two issues arose: (1) The hostess wrote my phone number down wrong and I was not notified when my table was ready. That's an honest mistake, no harm no foul, but I would suggest an automated system that send text updates immediately like many other restaurants use. (2) One of my dishes was never brought out. When the waiter came finally came back around (it took a while, it seemed like they were understaffed) he apologized and told me it had been entered correctly but the kitchen messed up. He told me it would be taken off the bill and walked away. I assumed he was going to bring the item and not charge for the inconvenience, but when he returned he brought the check on a mobile payment device. So... zero effort to correct the mistake? I had to decide if I wanted to fight and complain more in that moment or just walk away. I also had to decide to tip or not with him hovering over me watching what I typed into the device. He was free pouring and doing 2 second pours that's like half a shot. I'm a bartender and we ALWAYS use jiggers. You should too, you're jipping people of their money and booze. Lame. Also our rolls were similar but not quite correct in flavor compared to the other times I've been here. Over all I don't think I'll be craving this place again anytime soon. I have ventured to Sushi Brokers a few times now. In more recent visits it appears the quality has severely tanked, worse each visit. Today we visited and ordered the spicy garlic edamame, potstickers, spicy volcano chicken and 2 sushi rolls (we order the same thing most of the time). We were two of maybe 4-6 customers. The food: The edamame was overcooked and mushy, the potstickers had practically no flavor (where they used to be wonderful), the chicken was good flavor but the portion was way smaller and the chicken had more fat and tendons, and the sushi was not inedible but very stale (we watched it sit out after being made for too long before being delivered). The service... its just terrible! The food used to make it worth it but today, we are done. We truly were nice to our waitress and did leave a tip because its their income. However the drinks were left empty for way too long, there was an attitude from the waitress, she just clearly didn't care or want to be there, she gave us water when we sat but never asked our drink order we had to ask for drinks, she asked in a walk by if the food was good and when she took our food to clear the table she came back 15 minutes later and asked if we wanted the check.
