    Rainbow roll
    Phil D.

Great place and delicious food. Love the rolls. Specifically the spd and the rainbow roll. If ordered for takeout, make sure you give them plenty of time or you may be waiting awhile. I'd recommend dining in to avoid the long wait for takeout during the weekend. I was told 30 minutes. I ordered at 8:00pm but order wasn't ready until 9:05 PM. Absolutely DELICIOUS rolls. Atmosphere inside is phenomenal and staff are wonderful.

Locals recommended this place for sushi and we are glad we listened. Thanks to Eva. We had a wonderful experience with her excellent service. We started with complimentary cucumber relish on table, ordered miso soup, had multiple wonderful sushi rolls, the plum wine was wonderful (broad range of Japanese drinks available). In addition the presentation was spectacular. Finished with Mochi green tea and strawberry. We highly recommend this place.

Mackerel and mixed vegetable tempura bento lunch. Was delicious.

I have to say that I'm surprised that I'm enjoying the mackerel bento lunch plate so much at the sushi cafe. I think I've had it the last three times I've been here in the past year and have enjoyed it each time. Mackerel is a strong tasting oily fish that has to be prepared "right", or the taste can go terribly wrong. I'm happy to report that the fish her as The Sushi Cafe prepares is very much to my tastes. I really enjoy the atmosphere, the service, and the food prepared here.

Sushi Cafe has been around a long time in this area and they seem to have a solid fan base. Tucked away in a small strip mall, there is an impressive amount of seating in what seems to be a small space. Also, speaking of space, there is extra parking in the back behind the strip mall if you're struggling to find spots. The sushi is all fresh and wonderful. We love Sa, the chef behind the sushi bar on most days. We have followed him to multiple sushi restaurants, but it seems like he'll be here for a while. If you're ever feeling adventurous, just sit with him and let him feed you - trust. While I cannot tell you most of the items he laid down in front of us, I can tell you that everything was delicious. I think we did have a sashimi platter over ice and it was just as delicious as it was a beautiful presentation. The bento boxes are also quite good for those who tag along with the sushi lovers! The staff do seem a bit busy, waiting on so many tables, but they are polite and try their best. Menu as of 6/18/2025

    Happy Hour menu part 2

Sushi cafe has my daughter's favorite sushi roll, the crunchy roll, at my favorite price during their happy hour! Sushi cafe's happy hour menu has not only rolls, but a number of appetizers and small plates at great prices (please see the photo for the menu). There has not been a wait to be seated during happy hour and service has been friendly and prompt. There is a bar area to be seated in or a number of tables. There was adequate parking in the lot. The crunchy roll was delicious as usual. A complimentary cucumber salad/ sunonono was served. I enjoyed the calamari, but wished the portion was a little bigger! I ordered a sesame chicken entree to go which was a very generous portion. We will be back!

I went to Sushi Cafe for the first time yesterday with friends for Happy Hour. I've heard great things about their food so I was excited to try it. I ordered from the Happy Hour Menu as I wanted to try a little bit of everything. The pork spare ribs were tasty and tender. The Dragon Roll was perfect with very fresh fish. The Pepperfin was fresh and yummy with a good portion of Jalapeños. I tried a bite of my friend's pork Ramen and it was good. Another friend had the Veggie Ramen and was not pleased but I didn't try it so I can't confirm that it tasted "off". The ambiance was lively (around 5pm) but not too loud. The bathrooms were clean and well attended. The place itself is cute and well decorated. It's a casual atmosphere but still great for a date night. The service was efficient and friendly. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

We were in the area and decided to come here since they have happy hour (M-F 2:30pm-5:30pm). There was a good variety of items on the happy hour menu. We weren't too hungry, so we just ordered a roll and two small dishes. I didn't expect cream cheese in the chef's special roll- pass. I enjoyed the spicy calamari and grilled salmon kama. The calamari was crispy and the kama was meaty. If you're looking for quality rolls, then maybe happy hour isn't the way to go. The happy hour menu is a good value though.

I've been coming to this spot for At least 3 decades , and it never disappoints. While I absolutely love the Alhambra location -- it might even be my favorite -- I've recently moved back to Land Park area and find myself drawn to this original spot again. One of the main reasons? Chef Sai. Chef Sai originally started here, moved to the Alhambra location, and now he's back -- and whenever he's working, I always sit at the sushi bar. He's incredibly talented, not just in preparing sushi but also in entertaining guests. If it's not too busy, he'll do little impromptu "shows" like slicing a cucumber into a flower behind his back. It's wild, and just adds to the charm. My go-to is our custom roll he makes for us: scallops inside and out, with cucumber, topped with Meyer lemon, masago, and a mix of house sauces and mixed it up with jalapeño or other fun stuff ... It's always absolutely phenomenal -- he nails it every time. While I usually rave about the barbecued albacore at the Alhambra location, I recently ordered it here and, honestly, it was the best version I've ever had. Sadly it had less salad on the side, but the flavor? Perfectly smoky and rich. Truly memorable. Also love the new lobster roll, but I don't like it spicy as they normally make it. I order it sweet and it's fabulous. One of my favorite things about this location is the happy hour. They serve surprisingly good wine for just $5 -- and not in cheap glasses either, but really nice ones. The short rib is probably one of the most incredible small appetizer dishes I've ever eaten, hands down. The Mango Tango roll (just $11.99) is a fantastic deal and bursting with flavor. If you can swing it, I highly recommend coming for happy hour -- just note it ends at 5:30, which can be tough for some schedules, but totally worth it if you can make it

Service was great during lunch rush. We came in around 12 and were seated promptly. The food came out fast with complimentary miso soup and fermented cucumbers. Ambiance is mellow with Japanese decor. Will definitely come back for Lunch whenever in the area.

Shrimp Tempura Appetizer $9.95 - soo perfectly light and crispy!
    Vivi L.

Pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Sushi Cafe! It looks small and unassuming on the outside, but inside is very modern with a great ambiance. They've been around for 30+ years but looks like they've undergone a remodel sometime. My friend and I split their $40 mystery box and a $10 shrimp tempura appetizer and it was the perfect size for us to share as we weren't too hungry. I was amazed at how much I liked their tuna sashimi! Such a smooth and fresh texture. Also their tempura is DIVINE! The batter is perfectly light and crispy. Definitely one of the better tempuras I've had. Service was nice and friendly, however when they got busy they weren't able to drop off the check. No problem as we were able to walk to the front to pay. Don't let the outside fool you! Sushi Cafe is for sure worth a shot.

    Spicy Albacore (4-5pcs)
    Amber V.

I received a gift card for this place and we gave it a shot. We arrived around 7:30 on a Monday. Parking could be a hassle on a busy night but thankfully the night we went we were able to park close by. We were seated immediately but our booth was dirty. It had tons of rice on the seats and floor as well as dirty balled up napkins under the table. The woman who sat us scurried off so quickly we just swept the rice on the seat onto the floor with the rest of the garbage under our table. We were given a complementary cucumber refresher which we really enjoyed and ordered a full order of it as an appetizer. We also got edamame, spicy bbq albacore, deep fried Cali roll and the MVR roll. Edamame were big pods but needed more salt. The spicy albacore was not spicy at all, it was very garlicky as it had huge chunks of garlic in it with minimal jalapeños. It was cooked ok, as the center was still raw as it should be but it was very fishy, more-so than normal. Both the Cali and MVR rolls were dry, no sauce on them whatsoever. Definitely needed a miso or spicy mayo sauce. Overall, we weren't too impressed. With so many sushi options, this place probably won't be on our list of return spots.

    spicy calamari
    Qunnie R.

Service was okay. Forgot my wasabi and didn't refill my water. Ambiance was nice and pretty. Food was okay. The free cucumber was the best thing I had. The Godzilla roll was so nasty and the spicy calamari was average and pepperfin was fresh but the sauce was okay.

Parking is very tight since it's on a strip plaza and shares parking with other shops. I like spam musubi and rice balls, so this place is a "hidden" gem to me. It's very convenient for if you want to do a picnic, want a snack to eat in the car when going out of town or a good snack for hiking. The rolls are easy for grab and go. The prices are decent, and I feel like you're getting your money's worth. Inside the shop, there's 2 tables for you to dine in, but it's best to take it to go since inside the shop is a bit small. Last time I was here, I got the spam musubi and Kurobuta sausage roll. I enjoyed both. They are a bit on the smaller side, but I'm okay with that. I haven't gotten a chance to try their inari, onigiri, or rice bowls. I'll have to make time to come back. Customer service is great also. The ambiance of this business is very cute, neat, organized & clean. I took multiple photos of it inside but if you have questions I'm sure the employee there can assist you. I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

There's something going on in every corner. Saucy, stuffed with toppings, and really messy to eat so grab a fork and plenty of napkins. You get a crispy fried nori shell with a big ol' slab of unagi on top, slathered with sticky sweet sauce, fresh crisp lettuce, sweet imitation crab salad, and loads of rice. Too much rice. I had to throw some away to even out the ratio. The unagi had a lot of flavor but it was hard to get everything in one bite. Salmon Burger 5/5* The burger was simplier and more manageable. Rice to ingredient ratio was much better. Torched salmon, imitation crab salad, and large lettuce leaves. The salmon was juicy and buttery and the entire burger was really tasty. I'd probably come back for the burgers versus nori bites due to rice ratios. These are great to bring over to the park across the street for a picnic day.

The staff was super friendly and helped me make some decisions for my order and recommended the umami udon special, which I'm so happy about. The food was made fresh and took a little bit, but was packed with care and was nice and hot. I took it home to enjoy and the food was still hot and the portion sizes were really generous. The Umami Udon was amazing, it had perfectly cooked udon noodles that had a great chew in a creamy teriyaki sauce with smokey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It was a great mix of sweet and savory and lived up to it's umami name. I would order this again and again, it was so good. The Build Your Own bowl was also delicious and I can see why the chicken katsu is a customer favorite. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was really flavorful. The Spam Musubi had thick slices of spam with a nice marinade and came with sauces for dipping. I'll definitely be back again soon, and while I want to explore more of the menu the umami udon is happening again!

My husband had driven by Kado Asian Fusion a few times since it's close to his work so we decided…read moreto check it out for dinner last week. Kado Asian Fusion is located on Broadway and cater to the lunch/dinner crowds. They are open from 12-8pm every day except Sundays. The inside was clean and had a decent amount of tables. We ordered at the counter and then sat at a table while we waited for our food to go. They offer bowls, tacos, nachos, rolls and sandwiches! I don't always know what to order at new places - so I liked that they had signs for specials as well as "favorites." We ordered the Rice with Teriyaki Chicken, Oliver's Favorite which was Spam Musubi and Spam and Bacon Fried Rice and Mom and Dad's Forbidden Feast. Everything looked and tasted really good! Obviously, it would have been much better had we actually eaten in the restaurant, but still no complaints once we got it home. Spam Musubi is one of my favorite things to eat so I could have downed like 5 of them! Portions were huge too - they even have a 100 year old teriyaki recipe! Overall, I would definitely come back and try other items! Staff were also very friendly, personable and gave great recommendations! Check them out!

This is a cute lithe restaurant. Simple. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) we got parking right away. 2) restaurant looked clean. Our table, chairs, plates, cups looked clean. We were the only one there at first. 3) waitress was very nice and smiling. I love warm welcomes. She seated us right away, gave us menus and brought water for us pretty quick. 4) water tasted good. No funky taste. 5) Mixed tempura, Miso soup, New York Steak teriyaki, Zig zag roll were all very good. 6) our waitress checked in on us and ensure we had water refill. I appreciate that. We all did. It was hot today. 7) bathroom was clean. 8) wall decors are cute. 9) there's music, but low enough that we could talk and hear each other, but loud enough that we can hear the music. Cons 1) none Conclusion We liked this little restaurant. We gotta try the soups next time we go there. We only encounter our waitress and she was very nice. Didn't get to talk to the sushi chef. Foods good, water good, restaurant clean, bathroom clean, plenty of parking. Menu have dessert, but we didn't get any. Was pretty full. Go try this place if you're in this area.

Karai Sushi has become my favorite restaurant to order from lately. However, last weekend there was…read morean issue with my order so I reached out to discuss the matter. I was referred to the owner Vinh who handled the situation with such care and understanding. He was extremely apologetic and offered to take care of the bill along with another generous offer. I was blown away by his generosity and consideration in wanting to make things right. I've always appreciated the fresh sushi, reasonable prices, & hospitality, but getting to interact with the owner and having that great of an experience really sealed the deal. Thank you again for excellent service. Please do yourself a favor and check out this wonderful restaurant. They will not disappoint! I typically order takeout but their dining room is very nice, clean and inviting. I would love to dine in next time.

The daddy roll is really something to behold with the lobster tail shell included in its beautiful presentation. The boomerang is also a super tasty roll that is a very rich crab bomb of flavor appetizer to be shared. Pro tip: if you want to sit in a booth, you might want to bring your own cushion. The wood seats is very hard and while they said they had cushions on order, it's been well over a year and there's still no cushions.

I chose the chicken teriyaki and mixed tempura for my two choices, and it was accompanied with rice, salad, two pieces of California roll and miso soup. The miso soup was quite bland, with about 3 little cubes of tofu, and tasted watered down because it didn't really have any flavor. The chicken was very good, with teriyaki sauce with the perfect flavor and thickness. The salad was very good too, because of the salad dressing. I couldn't really judge the California roll because it was so thin that it broke apart. I couldn't wait for the tempura, one of my favorites, but the batter was pretty thick and kinda greasy, so it was just okay. I'm glad I finally got to try it, and will be back. But I'd probably skip the tempura next time. It was a bit heavy for me. There was plenty of parking available, which was great, because we were there during the peak of lunchtime.
