When our team wants to grab sushi in the BWI airport area, we head to Sushi Call. Located in an unassuming strip mall, upon entering the door you are greeted by the friendly service and sushi chef staff and seated quickly. I ordered the tuna-focused Sweetheart and Rock and Roll sushi rolls and was rewarded with two well-constructed and hefty rolls, loaded with fresh ingredients, and even decorated with a little palm tree. My friend, a non-sushi eater, ordered a teriyaki plate that he thoroughly enjoyed, noting the excellent flavors and high quality of the meats. This place just opened during the quarantine and being close to home I ended up checking it out. They had great value on their lunch specials so I gave it a try for takeout. The fish here is always extremely fresh and delicious, and their cuts of sashimi are thick and generous. The hostess who is usually there is friendly and all in all I've ended up going a dozen or so times over the last few months because I like the food so much. Here's a brand new spot opened on May 30th, if you're a fan of sushi I suggest you give it a try. I got my order to go, but the inside dining area is open. From what I saw they are doing their best to keep people safe. The staff all wear masks and gloves, customers had plenty of space between them, and they have hand sanitizer by the door when you first enter. As for the food, since it was my first time here I decided to keep it simple. I ordered just one roll, and was very please. They passed my personal test so I'll be back. They really deserve a 5 star rating, however they lose a star because while I waited for our to-go food, I watched one of the sushi chefs making dinners *with his mask down under his chin*. This kinda-sorta bothered me, because maybe, just maybe, he was breathing toxic air onto everyone's meals. I mentioned this to the hostess and she immediately ran over and told him to put it on correctly, which he did. Will immediately bump up to 5 stars if management replies that they see this post and acknowledge that it is a valid concern and is taken care of. Having said that, very nice place. Again, we did the take out thing and being sushi lovers we will always try new local places. The food was really good, but did have a different taste overall than other places we've tried. Not bad at all; just different. They were very fast and right on time; placed our order online and it was ready pretty much exactly when the website said it would be. It's been a long time since I've had really good around here and this place made it worth the wait. The sushi's fresh, the hibachi is delicious, and the staff are so friendly. Even though I've only been here a handful of times, the staff knows me when I walk in and I really feel liked when I'm there. There's only one downside and that it's not closer to my house. Really great quality!! I ordered for pickup, and the service was quick and easy. My mom and I ordered Hibachi Vegetarian, Salmon Bento Box, and an Eel Avocado Roll. Everything was cooked very well. Vegetables had perfect texture and weren't too salty. I tasted a bit of my mom's salmon, which was light--not greasy at all, and had a nice glaze on top. The sushi tasted very fresh and had a flavorful sauce on it. The entrees came with a soup and salad. They call the soup a Clear Soup on the menu, and the broth has a mushroom-like flavor. I loved it! I enjoyed it much more than your average miso soup from a sushi restaurant. This food (and that soup) will definitely keep me coming back here! Nice to see such good sushi places right outside my neighborhood! I'm interested to see how the competition holds up with the infamous Sushi Q across the street. read more

Sushi Call is my favorite sushi spot in MD. My partner and I have gone here about ten times now, and each time has been better than the last. I can't even pick a favorite meal... I've tried so many of their rolls, and their seafood is always *extremely* fresh. They don't skimp on ingredients, either! I get more avocado on my standard rolls here than anywhere else. They will also let you substitute ingredients in special rolls, while some other places won't. I have also tried some of their entrees, and they're just as high quality as their sushi- Yakisoba is my current favorite go-to. Appetizers are all incredible, too! The staff is also extremely friendly, considerate, and very quick given how busy they are at dinner hours. PS their crab rangoon is amazing. I don't know what they do differently than other places, but I can't eat it anywhere else now without being disappointed. It's that good! read more

The rice to fish proportion is excellent and everything tasted fresh. We weren't crazy about the maguro sushi but the rolls were so delicious! The ocean roll and the eel roll that came as part of maki B were our favorite, but I also liked the salmon skin.. so... it was all good! I was so excited to try this new restaurant but, was met with disappointment. My husband and I placed an order for pickup. We ordered a Kani Tempura Roll, a Shrimp Tempura Roll, and 2 orders of California Rolls for a total of $27.50. The Shrimp Tempura Roll tasted old with stale shrimp inside. Didn't taste fresh. All the other rolls were fine. The next day my husband and I had terrible stomach pain and bad diarrhea. I would never order from this establishment again! Yuck! read more

Well deserved 5 Stars! I loved everything about this place and I felt very safe with hand sanitizer on each table. Now, let's get to the food. My children ordered the kids hibachi and it was so much food they will be eating it tomorrow. They loved it and it was only $10. My husband had plenty of appetizers which he devoured, plus he ate the kids soup and salad from their meals. I had three amazing sushi rolls, each had a uniquely delicious taste and they all tasted very fresh. Our waitress was phenomenal and even gave my son extra orange slices. This is a brand new restaurant inn the neighborhood. We already have 3 sushi restaurants in Elkridge, Maryland. Idk why they picked this location but if they want to survive they need to step there game up. It was very cleaned. Every table had hand sanitizers. The restaurant bathroom was very clean. The decorations and interior design was nice. It was dark though. The server took our order without writing it down. She forgot to bring my daughter's salad. Strike 1. She only brought out my seaweed salad. Also the sushi was brought right after no space in time to enjoy our appetizers. Strike 2 I ordered a ice tea there was no ice in my ice tea. Also the ice tea looked dirty. I wish I had taken a picture. It looked like it had a grease flim ontop. I was afraid to drink it. Strike 3 wilted spring mix in my seaweed salad. I never seen spring mix in a seaweed salad before. Strike 4 The flavor of our sushi. There was no flavor. Even with cooked sushi it was to warm for my liking. I ordered a basic california roll no avocado flavor it was to much cucumbers. I didn't enjoy the sushi. The ginger tasted to vingear base and a weird scent. Strike 5 only 1 non labeled soysauce there is no choice between low sodium or sodium. The sauce dishes are out open on the table. Every customer can grab one and still touch the one underneath it. Not sanitary. Strike 6 this is sack religious whip cream and chocolate sauce on Japanese fried ice cream~ also it wasn't the best either however a large portion... in my opinion sushi sono in Columbia has the best fried ice cream Funny they need to check there spelling on receipts not "green bean" it's suppose to be "green tea" Anyways service was ok. I'm often staying in BWI as I prepare to fly out for work. If you know the area at all, you know the choices for good restaurants in the area are fairly limited. Sushi Call has saved me more than once. Love going there and picking up something to go to eat in my hotel room. While I've never actually eaten at the restaurant, it looks really nice - complete with large bar. I generally get an assortment of sushi rolls and have yet to have one that's poor in quality. Pricing is very fair and the staff are really pleasant. Support the community and this restaurant in particular!! read more

We came here as a party of 3 for a birthday dinner. We were seated right away, were given menus, drinks and a moment to peruse the menu. Staff was attentive but also gave us space so we didn't feel like they were rushing us. We found the prices to be very reasonable for the generous portion and size of the appetizer and sashimi. Sushi and sashimi were fresh. If you prefer cooked sushi rolls, they had plenty to choose from, separate in its own category on the menu for easy picking! We also ordered drunken noodle and pad Thai, which we felt were a bit underwhelming in flavor, but again, generous portion and was decent. Overall, the decor is nice, staff friendly, each table had their own bottle of hand sanitizer, food were fresh and big-portioned. I do not normally write reviews; however, this is one place that deserved attention. As a foodie, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America and have traveled a great deal, somewhere north of 3 million airline miles. I have had the chance to enjoy some of the finest restaurants in the world and study the Japanese Culture. I have been looking for a really good sushi restaurant. I have been to a couple of places in the area, the one that seems to be most popular is sushi q, I always found it full and a little uncomfortable, with more staff than people, and fairly hard to communicate, food is very average, a step above supermarket sushi. On the way to Sushi Q, I saw a little white sign advertising a new sushi restaurant near Green Valley Market. Tucked neatly in the corner is a white sign, with a clever graphic play on their logo, it was a little hard at first to understand the name on the sign, but you will get it, the C is a fish, the L is two chopsticks. With a big white banner underneath, "Now open SUSHI Call." I have visited this restaurant 4 times; I have tried 16 different rolls. From my first visit, I found the staff to be very friendly and truly excited to have you visit this new restaurant. You will find a clean and well laid out space. It is beautiful and peacefully decorated, the staff is attentive and easy to understand as they provide you and an overview of there menu. The menu covers not only beautifully executed sushi rolls but something for the whole family, including hibachi and a selection of entrees such as pad Tai and some of the best-fried rice, I have had. It's actually pretty hard to get sushi right. Even though you might think it is just some rice, fish, and veggies. It all starts with the highest quality of ingredients, it starts with the rice, which is actually a little hard to get just perfect. It's the foundation of the art of sushi making. How does it taste, feel, the texture? Pasty and rubbery, you will not find that at Sushi Call, the rice is perfect. I would put this pretty close to Nobu, the New York City Sushi place with a Michelin star. The quality of the seafood is excellent, using fresh, ingredients you can see, the lobster roll was amazing. It was clear that they used "extra-large" shrimp in their dishes. What was surprising was the price. You can eat like a Japanese emperor and feel at home, without taking out any gold from your treasury. I would strongly recommend Sushi Call, this will certainly be your new Japanese Restaurant as it is mine, there is no doubt that Sushi Q, will be slipping to number 2 as the local favorite. After you visit, you will say oishikatta desu ("It was delicious"). read more

To start, we ordered the "Sushi Call" appetizer and it was delicious - it is a must order if you like spicy. For my meal, I ordered the Ocean Roll and the Baltimore Roll. Both tasted extremely fresh and I especially loved the local Old Bay flavor of the Baltimore Roll. My sister ordered the Philadelphia Roll and the Boston Roll and she was very happy with both as well. We can't wait to eat in the dining room once it opens up!
