Fish Attack Roll, baked roll, and Edamame Plate
    Long D.

Make a reservation at 8 Friday night and got seated right away. Ordered the most popular fish attack roll, a big bake roll and fried baby octopus appetizer. And regular edamame (so bland). The bake roll is full of cheese, yuk. But the octopus delivered above expectations. Should have ordered garlic edamame instead. Small, intimate interior, nice deco. Solid dinner

Our favorite neighborhood spot! The rolls are so delicious and the fish is so tasty. Service is great. The place is pretty full on weekends and Fridays so make sure you have a reservation or are ok with waiting a little!

Every time I come here, after a few months, I'm reminded why this is my favorite Sushi spot in the city. The fish is THE FRESHEST. I kid you not. The quality here is quite literally unmatched. Best place in town. Fish Attack Roll is always my go to.

Great service and excellent quality sashimi! A bit pricey but worth it if you want some quality sushi. My favorites are the kanpachi and o toro!

Amazing sushi restaurant in Clairemont. Be careful, they have been working on the main street for awhile & there are some major potholes. They are only open for dinner. I have been here 2x within the last 3 months & both times have been wonderful! Customer service is super friendly & attentive. You cannot go wrong with any roll here! & they have beers from Japan too. Salmon Belly Nigiri: So fresh! Fish Attack Special Roll: Tasty, like a rainbow roll with tuna, salmon & other fish. Sushi Pizza: A must order! Crispy rice as the "dough" w/ delicious spicy tuna, yellowtail & sauce on the top. Hot Kiss Roll: My fav roll, so flavorful! Bomb Bomb Roll: A go to if you are a fried soft shell crab fan. Super Dragon Roll: Love this eel roll! Gyoza: Good. Shrimp Tempura: Lightly breaded.

We got the Hot Kiss Roll, Double Kick Roll, Sushi Pizza and Spicy Tuna Hand Roll. All of them were made wish very fresh fish. The rice was perfectly cooked and plates were beautifully crafted. Service was very polite and they were busy for a random Tuesday night! The interior is modern and upscale with a fantastic choice of jazzy music. The prices are reasonable, and I would 100% come again.

I came here on a whim with some friends and was completely blown away. The fish is incredibly fresh--they have toro and belly--and the portions are generous without sacrificing presentation. You can tell the chefs take real pride in their work. We ordered a variety of rolls (the Firecracker and Crispy Salmon were standouts), plus a few nigiri, and every bite was perfect. The flavors were balanced, creative, and never overpowered the quality of the fish. Service was slow at first, but friendly. The vibe is fun and casual, but still clean and modern. Perfect for a night out with friends or a laid-back date night. Prices are reasonable for the quality, too. Can't wait to come back and try more. This place has officially become one of my top sushi spots in town.

Sushi Fish Attack is my go-to neighborhood spot and a true hidden gem. The service is always warm and attentive, making every visit feel welcoming and relaxed even though the place is often packed. Come early. What really stands out is the quality of the fish--consistently fresh, generously thick-cut, and absolutely delicious. Whether you're a regular or stopping by for the first time, it's the kind of place that keeps you coming back.

I brought my friends here for the first time and they absolutely loved it! Shishito peppers: (5/5) These were cooked perfectly and covered in a delicious sauce. Cherry blossom roll: (5/5) This is my favorite roll. It confirmed how good it was when we decided to order two of them! Chu Toro sashimi: (5/5) This was on the specials board. It comes with five good sized pieces. We devoured them so quickly. The fish was so fresh and literally melted in your mouth. Definitely recommend trying this. It's bomb. Ex boyfriend roll: (4/5) Overall good flavors, but nothing special! Probably wouldn't order again.

The sushi rolls were delicious, atmosphere is wonderful, staff is friendly. We really enjoyed our dining experience and will be making this our go to sushi spot.

Nice and quaint place to eat food with a small group. Mom and pop vibes through and through. Good was really good and came out in a timely manner.

Quality sushi with a variety of menu items! We ordered the Bomb Bomb, the Fish Attack Special, and the Dynamite Salmon. Each specialty roll was flavorful and handcrafted to perfection. The sauce on the Bomb Bomb was a standout, and the quick and attentive service was great. The ambiance consisted of dim lighting and a nice chill vibe. I highly recommend checking Sushi Fish Attack out and trying these rolls!

Booking was easy through their website. When we arrived around 6:30, and there were still a handful of open tables so reservations may not always be necessary, but it's probably still a good idea. Our server was phenomenal and really elevated the experience. She gave great recommendations and even let us sample both the Cabernet and Merlot when we couldn't decide on a bottle of wine. We ordered a variety of dishes: * Spicy Edamame: very flavorful, but definitely on the spicy side so be warned if you're sensitive to heat. * Fire Fire Roll: light and fresh fish, but the seared salmon flavor didn't really stand out. * Orange Roll: also light and fresh, but I didn't really pick up the citrus/lemon zest element. A bit underwhelming compared to expectations. * Salmon Belly Nigiri: very fresh and a favorite at the table. * Crab Roll Special: generous portion of fresh crab. * Yuzu Cheesecake: served with three spoons to share. It tasted like a classic cheesecake, pleasant, but I didn't really get a distinct yuzu flavor. The space is cute and conveniently located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Overall, the atmosphere is laid-back and comfortable. While the rolls themselves are fairly simple and not especially standout, everything tasted fresh and the service was excellent, which made the experience enjoyable.

We were first to enter and it was clear immediately that omakase is this restaurants institution; delicate lighting that highlighted the bar that separated diner and chef, clean lines everywhere, and just overall a beautiful place. The theme of Sushi MARU is truly attention to detail, and that extends from arrival, to service, to, of course, the food. Staff were incredibly attentive and easy to talk to, including the chefs. The food, I will comment on just generally as the menu is constantly changing (as is the case with many omakase): each dish was composed of pieces that complemented each other well and created a cohesive flavor pallette. Each nigiri was artfully prepared that emphased the quality and cut of the fish, and were complemented by flavors to further highlight that. The flow of the evening was non-traditional omakase, but it felt perfect. Price ($180pp) is not for the faint of heart, but is cheaper than others I've seen. Would absolutely visit again for a special occasion!

It is not surprising as this Michelin 1 star since 2021 is quite the tiny, yet comfortable setting that continues to get high praise. Unlike several of the other Michelin guide or Michelin Star sushi establishments, they offer more than just Omakase. While the do offer Full Omakase for $189, Nigiri Omakase for $140, and Petite Omakase for $65, they also allow you to order nigiri, sashimi along with multiple other specials and cut rolls. On our first walk in experience, we ordered the Petite Omakase which included 4 seasonal dishes, 6 pieces of sushi, a light fish broth, and a small dessert, we also ordered some add-on sushi. On our first reservation here, we opted for the Full Omakase, which was absolutely amazing. I've ordered the Omakase each time and while I still love the atmosphere and the energy from Chef Soichi and the staff, I do have to say that this last go round was not quite as good as the last two. This is meant to be opinionated criticism to help improve but I think the dishes could use more diversity and depth. Having done a fair share of omakase from places like Kinme and Matoi, I feel like this isn't that much more memorable or special and I'd hate for it to follow the same path Tadokoro did where they were absolutely my #1 choice and fell after they got their star (which they later lost). Everything was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. All of the fish is high-quality, and most of it is imported from Japan. They do also source fantastic shrimp and uni from San Diego at times. Both sushi chefs are super personable, very skilled, and they have rad knife skills! Service from the waitstaff was attentive yet unobtrusive. The restaurant is diminutive and consists primarily of the sushi bar with 10 seats and an attached patio dining area. They do have a small parking lot which is appreciated! The pacing was just right, and each course was presented simply yet beautifully. I truly enjoyed this experience and give it my highest possible accolades! I loved that we were able to taste test three different sakes before choosing, and the carafe of sake was perfect for two of us to enjoy with our meal. It was also fun to choose our own special sake cup/glass from Ichifuji's eclectic collection for the evening I truly enjoyed all of the 19!! courses but the chilled chawanmushi, king salmon & all the nigiri were my favorites. Another fun thing that Ichifuji does is they give you a punchcard, and once you've tried all four seasonal menus, you will receive a special gift from Japan. Arigato gozaimasu!

There was no wait here but parking was a nightmare and there is almost no street parking right around the restaurant which is near the trolley tracks. I recalled coming here for a light dinner with my husband many years ago and thinking it was good, but expensive. I asked if they had Japanese soda for my daughter because it was not on the menu, and they said no, but after we came back from the bathroom the host had found one for us. They gave us chopstick helpers and were very nice. We ordered braised pork belly as an app and wagyu nigiri, albacore, hamachi, salmon belly, 2 salmons, and unagi. I think that was all. They nicely split the order so half had no wasabi for the kid. They were very considerate and I appreciated it. The food however took a while to come out. The braised pork belly was ok, but the fat had not rendered as well as at some other places so we ate around it. The flavor was good though. The hamachi was probably the best item-tender and tasty. The albacore was standard and a generous piece, but the salmon was a bit tough and my kid who usually inhales salmon tasted and then left the salmon. The wagyu had good flavor but was surprisingly chewy. For $26 I would expect it to melt in your mouth but it was not easy to bite through. The eel was very tender but had a weird taste, and was disappointing. I found myself chewing on a scale from maybe the salmon and was overall underwhelmed by the food. The bill for a soda and the sushi came to almost $150 after tax and tip for me and a 6-year old. Usually my husband and I and my kid go to places with better quality and pay the same price for the three of us. Will not be back.

The sashimi champaloo came with 12 pieces of sashimi, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and the fish of the day was albacore. For rolls, we got the Luna Lemon, Maru's Sushi Toro, and Hamachi Hiro. The rolls were a good size and I loved how each had a fun twist (but at the same time not TOO crazy with their combinations like some other sushi places). You can tell it was designed with intention and each roll had a nice balance. The Luna Lemon roll was great with spicy tuna inside, salmon outside, and the soy dressing and shallot oil put it over the top. The Maru's Sushi - Toro roll looked so good in the photos so I knew we had to order it. The negitoro was delicious and did not disappoint. The Hamachi Hiro roll was hearty and loved the combination of yellowtail outside the shrimp tempura in the inside. We were blown away by how fast the service is. The staff was friendly and on top of everything, and the food came out REALLY fast. For example, when we ordered an extra roll at the end, it came out in maybe 3 minutes and we were shocked. All in all, Hakumaru has quality sashimi and rolls, but could work on portion size for chicken katsu curry don.

We knew it was popular and it was recommended to make reservations well in advance which we did. When you get to the hostess stand on ground level, she greeted us warmly and directed us to the elevator that would take us to Lumi. Once at the top, you're greeted by the Lumi staff to check you in. As you get to view the roof top, there are lots of tables, a strategically placed bar, some fireplace tables, comfortable seating, a live DJ, and beautifully done murals and deco. Very tasteful! The food was amazing and so fresh! If you don't like sushi, Lumi has a lot of dishes that would also accommodate your palette. Appetizers, sushi, and drinks were all great. Prices is a little high but keep in mind that you're also paying for the experience! The staff were all friendly and our host Becky was so sweet and attentive! She checked in on us regularly and gave us great recs! Highly recommend!
