I was wanting to take my good friend out to sushi for her birthday and my boyfriend recommended Sushi Gama as he had eaten here a few times before and I am glad he did because it did not disappoint! The food and service at Sushi Gama were perfect! I had made a reservation for a party of two and when my friend and I arrived at the restaurant we were sat immediately. The server came over and took our drink order, my friend had a glass of wine, while I stuck with water. We both ordered soup to start followed by the following rolls: - Spanish roll - Crazy roll - Pink lady roll - Volcano roll - Philadelphia roll - Yellow tail scallion roll While all the above rolls were outstanding, my favorite one was the Volcano Roll! It melted in my mouth and had so much flavor! (Highly recommend ordering) The ambiance of the restaurant is super casual and has that fun UES vibe! Side Note: Sushi Gama is super reasonable, so this is a great spot for any night of the week! Thanks for helping me make my friend's birthday dinner special! I will definitely be back:)

Happy Hour Sushi Rolls (Salmon Rolls, Salmon Avocado Roll, Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll, and Alaskan Roll)

Try: Happy Hour (Tues-Sun 3-6pm)! Why: Good deals for Happy Hour from appetizers to drinks to sushi rolls! A friend and I ordered family style: Shrimp Dumplings, Salmon Rolls, Salmon Avocado Roll, Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll, and Alaskan Roll. Each roll has 6 pieces. The rolls satisfied our sushi cravings. Notes: Workers were attentive and helpful. Restaurant was clean and spacious with lots of tables inside and some outdoor seating. They also had a bar, which was full when we came in a Sunday at 5:45pm. Good dining experience overall. We didn't know they had Happy Hour on the weekend, which was a great surprise since we cane 15 minutes before it ended. Would come back for Happy Hour to try other sushi rolls!

I was in the area after a doctor's appointment and hungry for a good but quick bite. Sushi Gama met my expectations and was a delightful pit stop. I sat outdoors and service was immediate and prompt. Not many diners at the time I had my late lunch. I wasn't looking for an elaborate meal, so the lunch special fit the bill. I decided on the two Maki roll special with salad for $12. Minutes after my order was taken, the salad arrived--fresh and crispy with my favorite Ginger Carrot dressing. Once finished, my two rolls were ready to serve. I chose the Spicy Salmon Crunch roll and the Shrimp Avocado Roll. Each was 6 pieces. Fresh, and simple. No complaints. I didn't browse the entire menu but Sushi Gama was the perfect spot for a quick lunch. Covid health protocols in place. I'd return.

My 2 friends and I went to Sushi Gama last night for dinner. All Covid protocols are strictly in place and the service was friendly. The martinis were perfect. The hijiki salad was fantastic and I can't wait to order it again sometime soon. The avocado, asparagus and cucumber rolls were excellent. My friends enjoyed their salmon teriyaki and large green salad. Note that I have been here many times before, mostly for lunch. I M never disappointed.

bartender/owner gave me watered down alcohol. background story... he didn't except credit card so i walked out across the street to get cash. he filled up the cup before I came back. had bubbles in it so it clearly wasn't pure tequila. he was going back in fourth saying he didn't water it down but he mixed two tequilas. Long story short he ended up filling up another cup and told us to take both. you can believe it or not Here is the photo of both cups

My server xin made the experience top notch!! He made sure we had the best time at sushi gama, and we really appreciated his service! Which we did!! So we decided to award him! We'll be back again after we come back from vacation, and bring a special gift for his baby girl

Had such a great dinner at sushi gama! I was unfamiliar with the menu, but my waiter xin gave me impeccable service with outstanding menu knowledge and a great attitude with me while I made my choices. I Will definitely come back soon!

Amazing drinks at Sushi Gama

Sushi Gama is a neighborhood favorite for me and my partner. The food here is so good: the sushi is fresh and the duck buns are to die for. Their Happy Hour is so generous and filling. The service is sensational and the atmosphere is very cozy. I always have a good time at Sushi Gama. My favorite drink here is the Lychee-tini: it's so good! Will definitely be coming back...probably next week.

I came here on a date with my dog on a Sunday evening. As soon as I got here they came out with a bowl of water for my dog, a glass of water for me and the menu! I have ordered takeout from here before but never sat and ate. I made their happy hour just in time (3-6), I was shocked and beyond pleasantly pleased with their happy hour options! Everything I ordered; crunchy spicy salmon roll, veggie roll, veggie gyoza, and a glass of wine was all $22! The food was so yummy and came out in record time! The service was amazing! I absolutely recommend!

We had our friend's wedding brunch here. The food was amazing and they have the best service. Everyone had fun and enjoyed the food. Rock shrimps appetizer was my favorite. The sushi was really fresh and the entrees were surprisingly good. Will definitely come back again to try their other menu items.

I just really like this place. Really great friendly, efficient service, yay food and drinks. My new favorite thing is the sashimi salad.

Dashi Okume sells ... you guessed it ... dashi. They sell several kinds, and you can taste all of them there in the shop before deciding which to take home with you (I tried them all and went home with one bag of vegetable dashi and one bag of sweet shellfish dashi). They also make custom-made dashi. You can choose from around 30 ingredients - dried fish, seaweed, mushrooms, and vegetables. They grind it up and put into individual bags for you. Such a fun idea, but I thought I should try some of their pre-made dashi options before creating mine own. They also sell miso, rice, noodles, rice seasoning, seaweed, tea, and other items. I picked up some Japanese mustard, seaweed, and rice seasoning to take home with my dashi. Beyond being a great shop, they also have a cafe area where they offer a teishoku set meal - you pick your fish, which comes with tea, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sides. They also offer an omakase popup. The shop is beautiful, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I'll certainly return for more shopping but next time I plan to make a meal of it and try their teishoku set.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 6 I have to preface that, if I had reviewed Hibino in the past, they likely would have received 4 stars. Unfortunately, my latest experience was such a letdown that I have to average that into this review. My usual order here over 10+ years has always been their Kaisen Don, which had some of the better quality sushi rice available in Queens. If you don't think sushi rice is important, then skip my review. If you do, then know that my preference is slight warm rice that does not clump together, with a nice touch of vinegar. Hibino seems to get this part right regularly, but not this past Sunday. It was cold, clumpy, and super light on seasoning. Furthermore, as soon as the bowl arrived, I was a bit skeptical since it's not the usual square box filled with premium goodies. Instead, it was a smaller round bowl with relatively common pieces of sashimi. In the past, there were toro, ikura, uni and scallop, but none were present on Sunday. The only premium pieces I received was the spotted prawn. The rest were salmon, yellowtail, bluefin tuna, sea bass, and arctic char. More importantly, some of the sashimi pieces were somewhat mushy and slightly fishy, not the best quality. On the other hand, we also ordered their Chirashi, which had seared toro, yellowfin tuna, salmon belly, yellowtail belly, shrimp, and flying fish roe. Between the proteins and rice is a layer of shredder egg. Sadly, rice was still cold and lacked flavor, but the egg did help a bit. Though I prefer the thin slices of sashimi in the Kaisen Don over the chunky pieces of fish in the Chirashi, I did prefer the latter on that day. Bottom line, I will give them another chance, but the downgrade on the quality of rice and premium seafood in the Kaisen Don was a major disappointment. Praying my next visit restores my faith in the restaurant.
