I got the spicy tuna roll on Jan 16, 2025 through a delivery service. It was the perfect amount of spice and tasted fresh. There were not any problems with the service. My food was ready in around 10 or so minutes. From what I could tell, it was clean and bright inside. Light streamed through the windows.
This place is a hidden gem. Pretty sure it's underrated. Finally tried it out after seeing a vlogger recommend it. Now I do too!!! Everything we had left me mouthwatering. I'm a huge fan of eel sauce and cream cheese so the baked mussels and baked salmon roll got me crazy! They're so good I had to take my time chewing for the taste to last at my tastebuds lol. I'm not a fan of fried gyozas but the one they have here broke my prejudice Service is attentive and efficient. Ambiance is perfect for small groups.

Located in a very small shopping center with very limited parking but when we went, we were able to find parking right away. They have about eight tables so not really a place for a very large party. Service is very quick and friendly. My fav was the FR6 - GOKEN SPECIAL ROLL which was: IN: DEEP FRIED WHITE FISH TEMPURA AVOCADO W/ SOY PAPER OUT: SEARED HALIBUT YUZU, YUZU MAYO YUZU KOSHO PONZU AND ARARE The sugar daddy roll was good but a little too much heat for me. The amber jack sashimi was light and citrusy. The fish was soooo fresh. There's lot on the menu that I would definitely want to go back and try. They have a special where it's by one special roll and get the second one 50% off. Also, if you pay in cash, there's a 5% discount on top of everything else.
I would give a higher review but the gentleman from San Fernando Eats really overhyped the sushi. It was fairly decent. The flavors were everywhere and the presentation of some of the food made me not want to eat it especially the gyozas they were almost burnt and lacked flavor. Service was on point but it seemed like no one wanted to be there. It was a bit crowded when we got there around 3:30pm (large family). It felt really dull inside the specials on the whiteboards were hard to read. I would say at least I tried this place but most likely not be returning.
We got to go food last night and let me tell you. It did not disappoint. I never like getting sushi to go but this place changed that for me. From now on when we can't leave the house and we crave sushi I will be coming here to get some. The rolls packed so well, they places the sauces on the side so it never got saggy. Love love love this place. Customer service was friendly and helpful.
Pricyyyyy. We spent almost $200 after tip and tax. Is it worth it? Yes, but it's just crazy expensive considering the location. I digress. Service 10/10- warm and very capable. Ambiance 6.5/10 it's giving hole in the wall which is totally a vibe. Cleanliness 9/10. Quality food 8.5/10. Value 8/10. Overall it hits the spot, they had practically everything I wanted just no uni that night. Their bento box was fabulous. I loved the soft shell crab tempura. I found the sauce was a little intense on the rolls, I'll probably request sauce on the side or not at all. I forget the name of the roll, the ex girlfriend or beauty roll it was good but omg the sauce was wayyyy too heavy handed. The truffle salmon sashimi special was really lovely but quite heavy on the finishing salt resulting in super thirsty aftermath. I think they're serving up quality, creative and passionate dishes but they might need to finesse a little more. But I could be the unpopular opinion- it's not a make or break for me I'll just request less or no sauce next time. The service and food are great, so I would totally recommend this place IF you wish to treat yourself. Sushi is never cheap, so it was worth the splurge at Goken because ultimately they had almost every item I was craving and it was good quality.

Sushi back then was ok nothing special. Very simple sushis. So I guess when the name changed and the owner, they really leveled up and this time, sushis are way way better and a lot of choices. Was here a month ago. My wife and I loved it and came back this afternoon (6/23/25) with one of our sons. So if you order 1 special roll you get 50% off on the 2nd one. So we ordered 4 rolls, salmon fusion, jess alba, baked langostini and their special white fish roll. They were amazingly good!!! equally good! The sauce they use even raise the level of their food. Their staff are nice. The place is kinda small, simple decorations and clean. The price if there's no 50% off on the 2nd roll is quite pricey, but portions are big. With the 50off on the 2nd is well worth it! We'll definitely come back to this place!
Service was excellent. Waiter was very attentive and kind. The chef was amazing and super thoughtful. Sushi rolls were buy one get one 1/2 off which was a steal for the great quality of fishes. The poke sushi roll was so refreshing, flavorful, light and yummy. Love the seaweed and mixture of different fishes. The inside had crabmeat, shrimp tempura and avocado topped with poki. Thank you for the ice cream and orchid. Will definitely be back with my whole family next time.
Well I found yet another little gem in the San Fernando valley (Van Nuys) for sushi. I enjoyed every bite from the baked Langostino hand roll to the cucumber special roll. The staff was all very friendly - shout out to chef Aureliano along with the rest of the staff and the young lady who greeted me Maria. Keep smiling everyone. Buon appetito!

This is my second time going and really I'm convinced this place is mediocre and expensive. Had the Sexy Lady Roll $30- was fine Toro Sashimi- $36 and slimy Crispy rice with spicy tuna- $11 was fine For the price and quality there are so many other and better places to try. read more

All the rolls we got were delicious! The service was quick & fast. & the place is small but it was busy when I was there. I was there on a weekday evening & didn't have to wait long. Definitely recommend! read more

The food was okay. No AC. Crispy rice was good. We ordered 3 rolls. 1 had a big hair in it and Another hair had a small beard like hair and they waived that one. At that point 2 out of 3 rolls having hair. They marked one of the rolls half price and waived the other one. read more

Our first time here. We came for lunch and ordered two rolls. A Langostino roll a baked California roll and an albacore sushi. Both rolls were delicious and the albacore was very good. The service was terrific. I would recommend this place and will definitely come back again. read more

Well I found yet another little gem in the San Fernando valley (Van Nuys) for sushi. I enjoyed every bite from the baked Langostino hand roll to the cucumber special roll. The menu is extensive, so many options. What we ordered: 1. Lemontail Roll - In: spicy tuna w/cucumber. Out: yellowtail w/sliced lemon, ponzu yuzu and rayu. 2. Salmon Fusion: In: spicy tuna/cucumber Out: Salmon w/micro greens, yuzu ponzu and Rayo. Bothe of these were fresh, beautifully presented and unimaginably delicious. 3. I also ordered Pepper Seared Salmon carpaccio w/truffle eel sauce. Apparently I'm not a fan of truffle oil but I did eat it and again it beautifully presented and fresh. If you like truffle, I have no doubt that you would enjoy it. 4. Cucumber salad- delicately sliced, delicious and mouth watering. The service was excellent and our server was very helpful and kind. The restaurant is on the small side, maybe 8 tables with room for larger groups. It's clean and comfortable and we so enjoyed our visit. We will definitely be back. read more

Sushi Goken really surprised me in the best way. Went for lunch and started with the eel plate--delicious. The king salmon was easily a 5/5, and the mussels were also outstanding. We tried a bento box with fried pork cutlet, bulgogi, and teriyaki chicken. The cutlet was good, but the bulgogi and chicken weren't quite to my liking--probably the only downside of the meal. The standout dish for me was the fried squid legs--absolute banger and definitely something I'd recommend trying. Miso soup was solid, just as you'd expect. Service was great, the ambiance had that cozy Japanese feel, and parking in the plaza was decent. Overall, a spot I'd definitely recommend, with just a little room for improvement on the bento items. read more
A total hidden gem! I found Sushi Goken when searching for sushi on Yelp and was impressed by their rating. I see now why Yelpers love Sushi Goken! I honestly didn't entirely know what to expect. This sushi spot is super casual, with maybe 8 tables inside and no sushi bar. You can order sushi to-go at the counter and I saw them pumping out takeout orders like no tomorrow. We were the only diners in the restaurant the time and service was impeccable. Food came out quickly and tasted super fresh. We ordered shishito peppers, a caterpillar roll, a cajun roll, an albacore lover roll and a salmon fusion roll. The shishitos were in a delicious sauce and were nice and crunchy, topped with bonito flakes. My absolute favorite was the cajun roll. Such a unique flavor and loved the sauce on top! My least favorite was the caterpillar roll, as I didn't feel like it had much freshwater eel inside and was more crab heavy. The owner even came by to talk to us and he was super nice! I would totally come back here and will definitely keep Sushi Goken in mind next time we are looking to order Sushi takeout. read more

Found my new sushi spot! I only ordered sides because it's my first time trying this cozy restaurant in the city of panorama city. I was afraid if it was a hit or miss. Yet it was definitely a hit. The crispy rice with Tuna was plated so well the combination of flavors was amazing! As for the Spicy garlic edamame I love how they added chili flakes for additional flavor, the garlic was not overwhelming whatsoever. The gyoza was cooked correctly to the crisp which I love! Yet I wished the sauce it was paired with wasn't just soy sauce I've tried at different restaurants that they add vinegar to the sauce for that extra taste. Overall, craving satisfied. I'm looking forward to coming back to try an actual sushi roll! 10/10 and cashier had excellent customer service, as well as the chef who also acknowledged me. Thank you guys. read more

Pretty darn good sushi! It's a tiny little spot. There's also a great buy one, get the next 50% off deal. The fish was fresh and tasty. I think my favorite was either the Geisha roll or the lemon tail. They're both very fresh and delicious. The sashimi was also great. Our waiter was great as well. He was very knowledgeable of the rolls and and helped us pick dishes based on the fish we wanted. read more

Taste: 5 Creativity/Authenticity: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 5.5 Bang for your buck: 5 People didn't believe me when I said you could get some of the best sushi in the valley inside a burgershop (got sushi) but when I tell them that you can get Go's mart quality sushi; in what seems to be an old donut sho, this sushi spot was fire and delicious and the variety and quality blew us away! Now the thing is this place is out there! It's in a small corner strip mall across From a hospital! But it's worth the drive! Only 25 min from me I'll drive everytime!! When trying new sushi spots I always do omakase and this did not disappoint!! So sushi heads put this on your list and make your reservation! Parking lot is small so be prepared to park on the street. Overall amazing service; our hostess was so sweet cleared every dish and was very attentive!! 5 stars and big tip for the amazing service and food!! I will return and bring the crew!! A sushi spot that accommodates! My friend brought me here saying "I love this spot. I want them to stay in business so I take everyone here." It did not disappoint. They give you a lot of fish and they have a bogo 50% off certain rolls deal. I had so much food left over that I had to take my second roll home. What we ordered: Gyoza Salmon fusion roll minus micro greens and rayu* Cucumber special roll with only salmon* Edamame Miso soup Sesame seared tuna carpaccio Albacore sushi *Two of the rolls I ordered they let me make major modifications since I only wanted a simple salmon roll. The service was prompt and spot on with the recommendations for what to order. We went at 4pm on a Wednesday and there was a lot of open seating. Parking is in a lot that could get full later on in the day when there are multiple people there for dinner but we had no issues. read more
