The sushi was fresh, delicious, and definitely the highlight of our visit. The ambiance is pretty simple and the cleanliness was just okay, with a semi-modern feel. It's seat-yourself, and the waiter comes to your table to take your order, which keeps things casual and easy. Overall, this is a great little hole-in-the-wall neighborhood sushi spot. I got the spicy tuna roll on Jan 16, 2025 through a delivery service. It was the perfect amount of spice and tasted fresh. There were not any problems with the service. My food was ready in around 10 or so minutes. From what I could tell, it was clean and bright inside. Light streamed through the windows. read more

Located in a very small shopping center with very limited parking but when we went, we were able to find parking right away. They have about eight tables so not really a place for a very large party. I would give a higher review but the gentleman from San Fernando Eats really overhyped the sushi. It was fairly decent. The flavors were everywhere and the presentation of some of the food made me not want to eat it especially the gyozas they were almost burnt and lacked flavor. Service was on point but it seemed like no one wanted to be there. It was a bit crowded when we got there around 3:30pm (large family). We ordered two bento boxes with chicken katsu, crunch sushi and tempura. The tempura is tasty however the shrimps are tiny. The chicken katsu has too much sauce and falls short for my taste. Pricyyyyy. We spent almost $200 after tip and tax. Is it worth it? Yes, but it's just crazy expensive considering the location. I digress. Service 10/10- warm and very capable. I found the sauce was a little intense on the rolls, I'll probably request sauce on the side or not at all. I forget the name of the roll, the ex girlfriend or beauty roll it was good but omg the sauce was wayyyy too heavy handed. The truffle salmon sashimi special was really lovely but quite heavy on the finishing salt resulting in super thirsty aftermath. I think they're serving up quality, creative and passionate dishes but they might need to finesse a little more. But I could be the unpopular opinion- it's not a make or break for me I'll just request less or no sauce next time. The service and food are great, so I would totally recommend this place IF you wish to treat yourself. Was here a month ago. My wife and I loved it and came back this afternoon (6/23/25) with one of our sons. So if you order 1 special roll you get 50% off on the 2nd one. So we ordered 4 rolls, salmon fusion, jess alba, baked langostini and their special white fish roll. They were amazingly good!!! equally good! The sauce they use even raise the level of their food. Their staff are nice. The place is kinda small, simple decorations and clean. The price if there's no 50% off on the 2nd roll is quite pricey, but portions are big. Sushi Goken really surprised me in the best way. Went for lunch and started with the eel plate--delicious. The king salmon was easily a 5/5, and the mussels were also outstanding. We tried a bento box with fried pork cutlet, bulgogi, and teriyaki chicken. The cutlet was good, but the bulgogi and chicken weren't quite to my liking--probably the only downside of the meal. The standout dish for me was the fried squid legs--absolute banger and definitely something I'd recommend trying. Miso soup was solid, just as you'd expect. Service was great, the ambiance had that cozy Japanese feel, and parking in the plaza was decent. A total hidden gem! I found Sushi Goken when searching for sushi on Yelp and was impressed by their rating. I see now why Yelpers love Sushi Goken! I honestly didn't entirely know what to expect. This sushi spot is super casual, with maybe 8 tables inside and no sushi bar. You can order sushi to-go at the counter and I saw them pumping out takeout orders like no tomorrow. We were the only diners in the restaurant the time and service was impeccable. Food came out quickly and tasted super fresh. We ordered shishito peppers, a caterpillar roll, a cajun roll, an albacore lover roll and a salmon fusion roll. The shishitos were in a delicious sauce and were nice and crunchy, topped with bonito flakes. My absolute favorite was the cajun roll. Such a unique flavor and loved the sauce on top! My least favorite was the caterpillar roll, as I didn't feel like it had much freshwater eel inside and was more crab heavy. The owner even came by to talk to us and he was super nice! Sushi Goken in Panorama City was an extremely pleasant experience a grand suprise! We ordered the Jessica Alba, Lemontail, Ex Girlfriend, and the Cajun rolls. The fish was fresh, the combination of ingredients was creative and blasted with flavor. We started with some of the, if not the best Green Mussels we've ever had, and finished with the most perfect salmon skin handroll that I have ever tasted. The crispy rice with Tuna was plated so well the combination of flavors was amazing! As for the Spicy garlic edamame I love how they added chili flakes for additional flavor, the garlic was not overwhelming whatsoever. The gyoza was cooked correctly to the crisp which I love! Yet I wished the sauce it was paired with wasn't just soy sauce I've tried at different restaurants that they add vinegar to the sauce for that extra taste. Overall, craving satisfied. I had high hopes for Sushi Goken based on its Yelp reviews, but after giving it a try, I'd say it's just... okay. Not bad, but definitely not as impressive as I thought it would be. I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong things or if it's just the nature of a to-go experience, but everything felt a bit underwhelming. The Toro handroll was probably the best part. I had it in the parking lot, so it was fresh, which definitely helped. But even then, it just had a slight wasabi kick to it, which I think might've been more of a prep thing than the actual flavor of the fish itself. The Langostino roll and Lemon roll didn't really do it for me. They weren't terrible, but I've definitely had better versions of both elsewhere. The flavors didn't hit like I was hoping they would, and the textures didn't feel as fresh as I'd expect from a sushi place with good ratings. That said, I do have to give credit to the service. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Overall, I'm not rushing back, but I wouldn't say it was a total letdown.
