The genki was by far our favorite roll, has both salmon and unagi. The chuck-h roll was second, we didn't realize it had cream cheese. Really conflicted on how to rate this experience. Food was excellent but service was startlingly poor. I came at 1pm on a weekday and the place was less than half full. The menu is huge and my waitress didn't explain that there were additional options on the walls as well, it was overwhelming on my first visit. I asked for a recommendation and apparently that was a problem. My waitress had no response and flagged down another to answer my question but she seemed very annoyed with the question and snapped at me when I didn't know what kind of fish I wanted. Personally I felt it was very reasonable to ask what's good at a place that was new to me so I just ordered what Yelp recommended which was a garlic albacore roll which was delicious. Had the service not been so offfputting I would have loved to try more but I couldn't leave fast enough after that. Many years of coming here, I still choose this place as a local sushi spot. Their poke salad is so simple but out of this world delicious! Especially with a squeeze of lemon and extra dressing. My go to rolls are the tataki roll, the Natalie roll which is packed with fish and chunks of avocado on top and of course anything with fresh scallops! Service is always quick and super friendly. They have a diverse menu with no rice options as well. Prices are reasonable and the quantity of food you get with the bento was worth it! I don't know how this place got out of my rotation. I used to come here allll the time. Their poke bowl is my favorite item on their menu. It's so simple but that dressing they pour on it, is so delicious. I can sip it haha You can't miss when it comes to the rolls and it's so hard to choose. But I feel they have a roll for just about anyone. It is a very small spot but it makes it feel intimate and there can be a wait time. If I counted correctly there's enough seating for like 30 people and that's including the bar. Also, the service is great here and they are pretty quick as well. Their Alaska roll is also a great choice the salmon is cooked and I love it that way, a nice crunch and very flavorful. I tried this spot for the first time the other day- it was AWESOME! So many people recommended it that I had to go in. Wait was not bad, servers were quick and kind. I sat at the bar. The server recommended two popular items to me and they SERVED!! The Poki Salad was flavorful and fresh and The Johnson roll was creamy and delightful! Not too spicy. I could have shared these two items with a second person, but I ate it all!!! No regrets! I even came back later with my bf to make him try. He loved it too! The restaurant is quite small with a sushi bar and table seating. Not the best place to go with large groups. The restaurant does feature an extensive list of rolls as you can see within the picture menu. Plus, they have a menu of specials featured on the walls. And you can always get just fish (sashimi). The rolls were good, but I prefer rolls without chopped fish or intimation crab. I like my fish whole, but most of the items on the menu featured chopped tuna or crab. This is a popular local sushi spot. The price is fairly reasonable too. I've tried a few rolls from here, all good, but nothing beats the ultimate albacore for me. I am obsessed with the little onion crisps and garlic ponzu it comes with. Every time I order a roll to-go here I'm tempted to just stay because of the bubbly atmosphere. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and got seated right away. Service was friendly and fast. The wait staff was very attentive and kind. The vibe was nice but casual. They had the dodgers game playing which added a fun sporty element to the restaurant. The food was amazing! My personal fave was the rainbow roll. Apart from their printed menu, they also have tons of other roll options on their wall! We decided to order the golden state from the wall menu and it was awesome! We ordered bento box with tempura and chicken cutlet. It was not bad although the cutlet could use more salt and the tempura batter was a bit too heavy. Otherwise, the sauces were solid and salad and miso soup were tasty. We also ordered shogun sushi combination. Overall, the sushi was fresh and solid. However, the rice was a bit crumbly even though it was a good deal. I'm not sure exactly which fish we got, but a couple of pieces were particularly tasty. The crunchy roll was also tasty. Overall, I would probably give the food 3.5 stars. I do think there are other sushi places that offer better value for the money. I'm not sure I would come back, but I am glad I tried it. read more

When you go to Niko Niko, it's like going to a friends house to share a meal. I don't live in Burbank...yet...but when I get the chance to go, I am never disappointed. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. Almost everything I ordered was so off. The ingredients, seasoning, the final dish and taste. It wasn't pleasant this time which isn't the case usually. It felt like different items and/or diff chef. The chef shouldn't matter since its standard items in the menu. It was all weird. The popcorn lobster had different seasoning on it (the green powder like) and it was super chewy not crunchy. The jumbo scallop nigiri box said no soy sauce on it (which I never said anything about that) and it looked seared for some reason which looked strange since we didn't ask for that. It also didn't have the usual yuzu paste. The spicy scallop roll also looked very different, not the usual. I wasn't happy with it this time and have to be honest in my review. If they changed their menu and the items are different from the usual norm, they should let their customers know. I wouldn't have ordered most of the items. I think I'm good with Niko for a while. My craving was not satisfied and unfortunately was so disappointed. read more

Niko Niko Sushi is your typical hole in the wall sushi spot that will get overlooked for somebody passing by. Step inside and you'll see space is very limited, but the hustle and bustle is going on as everyone enjoys a good meal. They have basic cuts all the way to unique offerings, all of which is fresh with good portions. I've been here several times with my kids, never had bad food. We sat at the bar and went with the following: - Salmon Lollipop: SO delicious. Seared salmon with Tobiko (roe) and a slice of lemon. Yum. - Salmon Killer: Love me some creamy spicy salmon. Join the waitlist and immediately check in with the host so they physically see you, they don't update the waitlist accurately and you could possibly be seated earlier. We waited a full hour when our estimated seat time was 15 minutes from when we joined. The food does not come out all at once, it comes out at different times all spread too far apart in my opinion. We had to wait a while after we finished each roll, which was kind of ridiculous. Only come here if you want to wait forever for your food to be made. With that being said though, everything we ordered was delicious, the rice was cooked perfectly and the fish was fresh. The ratio of rice to fish was also perfect, not too much rice and not skimpy on the fish. We ordered the miso soup, Sunkist roll, Salmonkiller, Monkeybrain roll and Vegas roll. The miso soup was good and standard. The [Sunkist roll] was good, get this if you love salmon, I would get this again. The [Salmonkiller] definitely had a slight spicy kick, with a lot of sesame oil essence. This was good but slightly too wet for me to re-order again. The [Monkeybrain roll] is a baked roll, comes out steaming hot and was very savory and delicious. I would get this again! Finally, the [Vegas roll] was good, tempura was crispy but I wouldn't order it again because I feel like there was too much going on with the sauce on top, shrimp tempura and tuna inside that you couldn't really taste everything individually. This is a tiny sushi restaurant that we have wanted to check out for a long time. When we stepped in the door there was barely enough room to wait. In fact we were asked to wait outside until space at the bar was ready. We waited outside for about 15 minutes. I knew they weren't going to come get us. I came hungry and left satisfied. I ordered their Sashimi A Combo and the portion was perfect! It came with a little salad, miso soup, and rice. The cuts of salmon, tuna and albacore were generous. The staff were welcoming and attentive. There was a staff member that was training and he did well. We were seated comfortably at the counter. They also have large tables for groups. The place isn't the biggest but it wasn't a problem. Parking is shared amongst all the businesses in the plaza so plan for that. Every time we walk in we are greeted with a friendly face. Not only were we greeted when we walk in, but also when we walked out. We know how busy it can get so we get there before dinner rush, so we can get a table right away. Their sitting are is small, but it's worth it to wait. You can also do take out. We started with a warm bowl of miso soup. Then we ordered our favorite rolls which are their double roll, Sunkist roll, spicy tuna roll, California roll and salmon sushi!! Sooo yummy!!
