We ordered two lunch specials with salmon and shrimp, the three-hand roll special, edamame, and the Dream Roll. Every dish exceeded our expectations--the seafood was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Based on the quality of the food alone, this is easily a five-star dining experience. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that they don't serve Diet Coke, and the restaurant itself is quite small. I went on a Saturday and it was busy, but we had a 6:30 reservation. Street parking is available, or there's a parking structure about a 3-minute walk across the street. The place is cute but very small, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was very good and attentive! We ordered the crispy rice spicy tuna, corn tempura, chilean seabass skewers, salmon sushi, and the creamy salmon roll. Everything tasted delicious and you can really taste the quality and freshness of the fish. I do think it's a bit on the pricier side for what you get though. For dessert, we had the coffee matcha mille crepe, flourless chocolate cake, and black sesame mochi ice cream. The crepe had more of a coffee flavor than matcha, and the mousse on the flourless cake tasted a little off, almost like blue cheese. The black sesame flavor also wasn't very strong. Came to Yume on a whim Friday night with my husband and 6 yr old son. The restaurant was busy and lively. We had to wait a bit to get seated. But once seated service was attentive and food orders came out quickly. Sushi restaurants can be a bit boring for us bc I don't eat raw fish and my son can be pretty picky. But, Yume far exceeded our expectations. They have a great selection of hot foods and veggie dishes. We really enjoyed the Yellowtail Ribs, Sunomo Salad & Miso Cod. I want to start this off by saying I have only heard glowing reviews about this place from friends. One of my friends orders delivery from Yume at least once a week and she says even the togo is amazing. We ordered togo and it said it would be 30 minutes so pickup time 8:29. We got to the pickup area at 8:35 and she said they needed a few more minutes. I personally never eat this late the only reason we were was because we had done a later workout class, so mind you we were really hungry. We ordered spicy tuna on crispy rice, spicy Edamame, creamy rock shrimp from the appetizers. We started off by eating those are they all were room temp to cold. That was really disappointing especially after waiting so long. I'm assuming that food was ready and the sushi bar was behind so our hot apps were sitting for more than 30 minutes. We still ate it again we were so hungry at this point but it was great, it was good at best. We got salmon and albacore sushi and those were great! The fish melted into your mouth like butter! Visited Yume for the first time over the weekend. And my surprise the food was actually amazing. Given the million choices of sushi in LA. The flavor of the sashimi and the hand rolls here were absolutely incredible. Not to mention how amazing the staff was. Specifically, Olivia, who was the hostess on that Saturday evening, she was incredible. She went out of her way to seat me at the bar without a reservation. She was beyond accommodating and kept checking in to make sure I was being taken care of. The baked crab hand roll and the salmon sashimi were my two top favorites. Came here for my friend's birthday and let me tell you -- nothing disappointed me. They have valet parking or you can park in the public parking and do a short little walk. We checked in at 5:30pm as what we had for our reservation and we were seated instantly. It was our first time coming in so we didn't really know what to order. We just got all the stuff we thought we would like and everything came out so perfect - not only it looked pretty but it tasted so good as well. The fish weren't fishy and the the fish just melted in your mouth. It was such a great experience. We ordered a bunch of things on the menu and everything was so good. I couldn't even pick a favorite because everything was equally as good. We also got their cocktails and they're dangerous. You can't taste the alcohol but it was perfectly mixed. It was very clean in there, not big of a space but enough seating inside and outside. The staff were so accomodating, and knowledgeable about the food. Could not have had a better experience. Tried a different sushi spot in the valley where we usually frequent Kabosu and sushi Yuzu. I would recommend making a reservation if you can if you want to sit inside. I checked on Wednesday for a Saturday openings and the whole thing was free, so I didn't bother to make a reservation. When we got there Saturday before 6 pm, they said no inside seating was available and that they're booked up. Though it didn't seem true unless half the list didn't show up to their times while we were there. So we agreed to wait for an outside table if it opens up and it did after 10 mins of waiting. They turned on the heat lamps thankfully. We ordered so many items. The one item I wish I took. Picturing was the scallop 2 piece sushi. Omg mouth instantly melted w it. I'll say the rolls I think were average. I love the fish but I prefer kabosu's style of rolls that are bigger with the larger fish to rice ratio. I will also give the leg up to kabosu for the sashimi. I wasn't a huge fan of the salmon carpaccio that came w arugula and mushrooms. Service was great though! The waiter knew to bring out 2 dishes at a time for the limited table space we had but that really helped us digest and eat more. We ordered the nigori to start and it was a bit different than what usual nigori is but this was so delicious and better than what most places have! That was the Tomoshichi sake. To start we ordered some Unagi asking it to be "more cooked" so it was nice and crispy but they use thick cuts so it was still soft and buttery. The Japanese Uni sushi was one of the freshest and tastiest uni I've ever had. The Ankimo Sashimi was ridiculous, bathing in their marinade and thick slices wow. The Yume Roll (Spicy tuna with tuna sashimi, avocado, cucumber, mushrooms, arugula, soy paper, & garlic powder) was amazingly delicious. Not too spicy tuna, fresh avocado and cucumber, the mushrooms were such a unique and interesting touch, and the garlic was the cherry on top. Halibut Roll (Cucumber, asparagus, gobo, shiso leaf, halibut, yuzu, sea salt, & nori (seaweed paper) was so so so good. The gobo sauce with the shiso leaf and yuzu created such a harmonious symphny in my mouth. The halbit was fresh and soft. The toro was absolutely butter.
