This is one of the great sushi places with affordable price in Towson area. I haven't been back here until recently, they have some changes since my last time there. Sushi Hana now provides hot towels before and after eating for customer which they did not do do it before. The towel was a little stinky after using or when it's dry. The lady who served our table was very nice and friendly. I ordered the scallop teriyaki lunch. It was awesome. There is no more lunch bento box which they used to have bento box as lunch special. read more

Stopped by here the other day, was going to take the food to - go but no one was inside so figured why not eat inside. COVID Safety - excellent, they provided hot towels before the meal and following the meal to cleans your hands. There is hand sanitizer everywhere in case you need to clean your hands. The staff all wear masks, gloves, and seat people every other table. Overall I felt very safe and comfortable. The sushi rolls were very fresh and huge, we got a $10 lunch special that gives you two rolls, soup, and salad. I'm so glad I didn't get an appetizer because I was so full just from the lunch special. Everything was good! I would definitely come back here again! read more

What a great lunch deal! For just $10, you get a miso soup, salad, and two rolls. Typically, rolls are decently sized and two fill me up perfectly. Here, the rolls are HUGE and I was stuffed trying to finish the rest of them. I went with the spicy salmon for one of my rolls because this is my go-to. It was really fresh and had a little kick, which I liked a lot. I also went for the Volcano roll and boy was that spicy! The hot sauce on top had red pepper flakes in it, so get this if you're in the mood for some fire. The portions were great and the sushi itself is top notch here. I will be back for the lunch special and to try something new on their menu. The now make poke bowls, which was a recommendation from one of the waitresses. Will I ever go there again, that would be a NO! Please tell me if asking for TWO SEPARATE ORDERS of Shrimp Tempura lunch specials is difficult?? So that would be an order for myself and an order for a friend. I would get TWO ROLLS and my friend would get TWO ROLLS of his own. Then everyone would be happy right??? WRONG!!! The young lady at the counter could not simply understand what I was asking for. She wanted to basically put ALL the rolls in one container, but that is not how we wanted them! For Christ Sake's! It's not hard!! I should have just had my friend come in the restaurant and order his own and that would have just made more sense I guess. So it's MY fault I guess for asking for two orders for two people! Guess you can't do that there!! I've never had a problem with Sushi Hana. I LOVE Sushi Hana, and have been coming here for nearly 20 years. I don't come very often - usually only once a year for some important day - but I make it count when I do. I always go big. Go big or go home, they say. This year I went big AND went home for my birthday. I got carry out for the first time ever, and I gorged myself on sushi rolls. I always get some unagi sushi, then some other roll. Sometimes I go completely off-script and get the chicken and walnut roll, which isn't technically sushi at all, I guess, but it's delicious...with the minced chicken and chopped walnuts in the middle, topped with a honey-mustard tasting concoction. It's interesting, and you could probably give it to non-fish eaters or people who are afraid to try raw fish...maybe picky kids would like it...which I am, really. I'm a picky kid who has decided to try some other things in life, if I'm being completely honest. So yeah, got unagi, chicken and walnut roll, and then a big maki tuna roll with avocado...can't remember what it was now, but it was amazing...didn't take me long to finish it all, then take decadent selfies of myself shoving an ice cream cake into my mouth. What a birthday! Can I do it again next year? Might have to thanks to the pandemic! Service at Sushi Hana has always been fantastic, and ordering online for pickup was no different. You should check out their awards wall, they've got them all the way back to 1998 or whatever when they opened...tons of restaurant magazine awards and local newspaper awards for being the best. At one point they were the ONLY sushi place in Towson - I know, that seems crazy for a place that has 40 of them in a two block radius (which is even down from 5-6 years ago). The Spring Breeze Roll (far left) was one of the best speciality rolls i've ever had. It's sweet, which is something I normally wouldn't like for sushi, but it was by far the best thing I had there. The California and Alaskan rolls are what I expected, standard, nothing to call home about, but still good. The Spring Breeze Roll is something I WILL be ordering again when I come back to town. Sushi Hana is one of my favorite sushi places in Towson! They always have great special rolls and quick service. This particular visit, BF and I stopped in to check out their lunch specials. They have a bunch of different combos. I got the tuna roll and chicken teriyaki. It came with rice, miso soup, and salad. BF got a two roll combo ($10) and we also got a speciality roll to share. The chicken teriyaki wasn't what I expected but I liked it. It was a grilled filet with sauce on the side. I was a fan because it made it feel a little more healthy. The specialty roll we got was the summer heat roll and it was really good- spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, fried jalapeño on top and hot sauce! Yum. We normally come here and just get a bunch of rolls, but I would come back and check out their lunch specials again! read more

Awful refund policy. I have been eating at Sushi Hana for 6 years. For the past 3 months, I have been ordering once week. I recently ordered a delivery order without rice. The order came with all of my sushi rolls wrapped in rice. I am unable to eat rice and they refused to give me a refund. I will never be eating there again. They have no sense of customer loyalty and I am not sure what their marketing retention plan is, but it certainly is not a good one. Find another sushi place! read more

For at least a decade, this was my go-to favorite sushi place but my last handful of visits have been generally disappointing. I think I have given up. My favorites were the white tuna tetaki and Hana salad. On the last visit, they were out of white tuna tetaki. I hope because it's a favorite among customers. The Hana salad was good but they no longer julienne the apples-they were chopped and there was not very much crab. It was still good but I don't prefer this change. Mojo roll was not as flavorful as I recall in the past. And I liked how the roll was hot and the crab meat cold- the past visit, the whole thing was room temperature. Jalapeño poppers were very good. I'd never ordered before so they were a nice surprise. Finally, the server never cleared the table and seemed disinterested in working that day. I miss the good old days. read more

The decor is a little outdated at this small quaint restaurant that is walking distance to the movie theatre. I decided to grab something to eat here before heading to see a flick with my daughter. The sushi is pretty pricey unless you get the basics. But it was all worth it. It was delicious and fresh. The service was a little slow. I had to ask for water refills and she never came over and checked on us. Her speaking to us was very limited. Nothing fantastic about this place. My wife recommended this place as it was a favorite of hers and some of her college friends. It's a solid sushi place. Obviously, come for the sushi. They have a huge selection, including many items you won't find at other sushi places around. For example, they have quail egg sushi (worth a try at least once; I kind of like it) and a number of pickled items that you can find on the sushi rolls, such as daikon and burdock (apparently a type of squash). My wife's favorite, the Anna Roll, includes the pickled burdock and apple. They used to serve Toro (fatty tuna belly), but it became too costly to keep it on the menu, according to my waiter. Not feeling as adventurous? They have a great selection of the American sushi standards like spicy tuna, California roll, Philadelphia Roll, Boston Roll, etc. I would also recommend any of their soups. I came here feeling under the weather and a bowl of their brothy shu mai soup did wonders for me. The inside is beautiful and the service is fine. Definitely a good place to score some solid sushi. read more

One of my favorite places to get sushi in Towson. They have the beta specialty rolls and use really amazing Sauces. My favorite is the crispy mango roll and xoxo roll. Great ingredients. Only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is because the specialty rolls are a tad overpriced. Since I've moved to MD, I've looked for a great japanese restaurant that is close by and reasonably priced. Something that if was placed in So Cal, would not have been shut down due to lack in flavor and authenticity. After I couldn't find anything within 5 miles, I tried 10, to 15, to 20. I've hoped to locate a great place in Towson and decided to try Sushi Hana. First lets say the initial impression was bad. I'm not talking about the outside appearance, which is lacking, but the lack of a welcome from the servers. It seemed like my husband and I were imposing on them for a seat. After being seated we were given menus and left to our devices. After a while they came to ask if we wanted drinks. After ordering tea (which is over priced at $2), we were given cups with generic tea bags (if its $2 a person, I would expect more than a cheap tea in a bag). The cups were way too hot that you could not drink out of it till its cooled down considerably since there isn't a cup handle on the cups. Very dangerous and burned our hands. They should consider new cups or reduce the water temperature. I've had tea out of the japanese cups and never had this problem before. We ordered veggie tempura and two roll special. The rolls were not good. My husband said the fish did not taste fresh and had a wierd after taste. It also seemed like they were unwilling to use enough nori to wrap the whole roll. The nori didn't completely encircle the roll causing it to break up when we picked it up. The only pluses were the tempura which was good, and the salad and miso which came with the rolls. Definitely will continue to look for sushi that will make me come back for more, but at this point my search radius will have to increase significantly. read more

This place is a classic case of don't judge a book by its cover. It looks rough on the outside. It was sooo busy inside and the food was so amazing. With all the business it has, you'd think they'd get to remodeling or something... but lemme tell you how this place actually chills. The atmosphere is totally zen. Our waitress was fast and got our drinks to us in the quickness despite people flooding in. Started off our dinner with a bottle of warm sake. Mmm~ Sake really gets you in a mood to enjoy endless rolls of seaweed, rice, and ocean-y goodness. After a few more cups, some laughs, a pina colada, and a Mai Tai, we were finally ready and warmed up (literally... the warmth in that drink seriously put hair on my chest) to tackle the menu. It's pretty standard. They have a list of the not-so-expensive sushi on a white sheet of paper that you check off. There was a regular menu, a drink menu, and what they called a "cheat sheet" which explained what each roll consisted of. There was a mango roll that really caught my eye, but my youngest co-worker is a little iffy on things she's not familiar with, so I stuck to savoury rolls instead. Had some deep fried tofu, miso soup, and salad as an appetizer. I could have lived off of that tofu. The batter was so crispy and golden. You know when you bite into something fried and bits of hot oil pop into your mouth? That happened and it was freaking magic. The bonito flakes were a lovely touch, too. Wish I could say the same about the accompanying sauce. The majority of it landed on my lap. ^_^' Huhu~ Someone had too much sake! We had a lot of sushi. The more I ate, the more I regretted it because my stomach was about to explode, but I couldn't stop. It was all so good. Here's a list of the rolls we had: Maryland Salmon Crunchy Salmon Rainbow Crunchy Tuna Dragon Roll Shrimp Tempura My favourites were the crunchy salmon and dragon roll. Eel is too delicious. I couldn't taste the ones with shrimp, but my co-workers kept shoveling the rolls into their mouths. Two of them had chicken teriyaki with rice and they ate all of it on top of the sushi. We finished off our night with some green tea mochi ice cream and fried tempura ice cream. It was all so good and so amazing. Just what we deserved after a long, hard day of working. If you find yourself at the edge of Baltimore, in the heart of Towson, plop over by Sushi Hana and leave with a potbelly. Guaranteed goodness. read more

I have been coming to sushi hana towson since 2003. I have NEVER had a complaint except today...normally I would chalk it up as just one bad day out of many many visits... but uhhhh no. I sat down at my normal spot at the sushi bar. I was given a menu and the normal warm towel. My waiter didn't say a word. When it was time for me to order, he just took my sheet ( didn't say a word). I had to ask him could I have something to drink... most times this crew is super attentive etc. The icing on the cake is the sushi chef was sleep at the sushi bar... my phone rang and he opened his eyes; said hi and went back to sleep. When my food order was rang in. He jumped up, prepared my food and went right back to sleep...sorry for disturbing ur nap dude. Sushi hana is a great place. Please don't become complacent. The ramen was interesting. I got the beef ramen and the meat kookier very ... sturdy. I guess I'm used to thinner slices but I didn't like the texture-look to it. And there were probably like 3 sliced baby carrots and 10 edamame pods worth of fix-ins. But there was a pretty good amount of noodles ... The sushi was okay as well. Nothing spectacular. I've had better and fresher tasting pieces from Wegman's. BUTTT they give you big pieces, so I guess that kinda makes up for things ... The atmosphere is nice though: smooth jazz playing in the background and it's mostly quiet, other than conversations from other guests and the kitchen staff, and sounds of water from the pond. You get the expensive feel without the price tag. I just dropped by after seeing The Lion King (I was parked right in front of the door) but, unless I get déjà vu or something, I don't think I'll be making a second trip here. read more

As I have said before, I am a sushi snob and die-hard fan of Nick's Samurai Sushi Bar in Cross Street Market. That said, my past two sushi experiences have been positive. Sushi Q has inspired me to branch out, so when I found myself in Towson with my lover-boy before a family party, we thought we'd pop into here for a light dinner date. Light it was not. I left there so full, I was waddling. We tried a sashimi platter, a spicy lobster roll, and another combo roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and avocado. Everything was fresh and of good quality; the yellowfin was a little tougher than I am used to, but the taste was good. Everything came with a complimentary bowl of miso and a japanese steakhouse salad. The salad was average, but the miso was WONDERFUL. I usually hate miso, but this was so good with deep umami flavor and fresh scallions. We also had a seaweed salad and a cucumber salad, which were both delicious, fresh, and of a large portion size. I also opted for a mai tai, which was stong, cold, and very tasty. The service was so so, you have to flag someone down to get their attention for the most part, but the atmosphere is lovely at the sushi bar and the food and drinks were good. read more

Sushi here is sub-par in my personal opinion, but I end up going more often than I'd like to because of the convenience. The rolls are oversized (if you like big, then this is it) and you can't even fit the whole roll into your mouth without feeling like you're going to gag haha. Sushi is supposed to be bite sized, so that you can experience the taste of the fish! The quality of the sushi rice is what makes a roll and here it's meh. Some days are better than others though, so not really much consistency either. I prefer sashimi to nigiri and the sashimi here is also inconsistent. Some days are fresher than others. You can most surely bring any sushi novice here and get them to find something that they like, but just don't bring the Asian in-laws that you're trying to impress. Although, I do enjoy the age tofu with the little fish flakes on top that move due to the heat hehe. read more

About 10 minutes went by without any service when we decided to be proactive and move ourselves to the bar. Someone finally came over to us and took our drink and food orders. My personal favorites are Crunchy tuna Ocean breeze Crispy mango Bruce David Cooked dynamite The atmosphere is nice here however, with a beautiful interior, and two bars. Service is sometimes great, sometimes okay, but never something to complain about. That being said, if I'm in the mood for sashimi or Nigiri I'd rather go to yuraku in Germantown. Love that place. Terrible customer service‼ Husband and I went out on a Sat eve around 7:30pm on 1/6 and were seated on the upstairs section. We waited about 15 min to be served and no one ever came over to even introduce themselves, give water or even take order. (Off note: someone came over to see if we wanted to move our table to the back of restaurant because where we were sitting was "tight", but we were fine and there was plenty of space.). Two other parties were seated after we were seated. And they were served before us. Thus, we got up and left. FYI we were BLACK and they were WHITE. The cooked Dynamite Roll was everything the amount of crab and salmon that was added was abundant. I got the shrimp roll to introduce my pallette to this meal, it was very simple. I got recommended this place by a good friend, and he was totally right! I got two rolls from here to try it out, and my boyfriend got the beef fried rice. Even though this is a sushi place, he said the beef fried rice had good flavor, and it was delicious. The California Roll was amazing, with fresh avocado and fresh cucumber. I also tried the Spring Breeze Roll, which is basically a California Roll with some pineapple and a honey citrus sauce on the top. It was amazing with soy sauce and the spicy Mayo I also got, which was only $1 more. This is an amazing place, and I highly recommend it! read more

Decent sushi place and I will probably be back. The service was not that great. I felt like they were not attentive and on top of their game. If a roll or dish is not listed on that sheet you fill out for your order, they expect you to just know to write it on the back. Not a problem, just give people the heads up. Their beer is a little pricey. I went with the 24 oz Soppora. *They also brew Soppora in Canada, not just Japan, but whatever it adds to the experience. The rolls were all great and had large pieces of fresh fish. The tuna was my favorite. Everyone was satisfied with their rolls. Furthermore the price of the rolls was decent for sushi and right in line with just about everywhere else. All in all, it was good experience and our group had fun. We will be back. While getting multiple items can be pricey, they portions are quite generous so don't let your eyes get bigger than your stomach! They also have great miso soup. I have been to this restaurant several times and am always met with the same horrible service. The waitress completely ignored our table and we had to physically get up and get her twice. I understand that it was a busy night but it is ridiculous to have to wait so long to even get our order taken, especially since we had a reservation. Another night, we came in 50 minutes before closing for some drinks and two rolls of sushi. After being seated, our waitress immediately gave us an attitude, rushing us to order since the "kitchen was closing". I understand that we came in a bit late but we did not order much at all and planned on leaving as soon as we were done. I also ordered mochi, which was given to me melted on the plate. After getting our bill, which was supposed to be split but she put it together, we paid in cash and did not leave a tip. She then proceeded to come back to our table and demand that we tip her 20%. She gestured to the receipt and pointed to the spot that said "optional gratuity" and insisted that we had to pay it. After a long and confusing conversation, we gave in and just paid the tip.
