Little Japanese restaurant. The server and management were very hospitable and nice. Prices here are decent. The sushi was good. No complaints. HAPPY SUSHIING!

We came in in a whim one evening while visiting Vancouver from Los Angeles. We were pleasantly surprised by the service even when we were ordering our food to-go. Sushi was delicious and made with care. We ordered the rainbow and volcano roll. I will definitely stop in before I head to the airport. Great place, can't wait for our next trip up north.

So nice we came back twice! I brought my partner to vancouver for the first time and this spot was right by our Airbnb. I've been talking up how good sushi is in Vancouver and this place lived up to all expectations. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Recommend trying their chopped scallop nigiri and dynamite roll. We had it both in the restaurant and to go and both times were perfect. The prices are fair for the area, two of us ate for $40 and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant seats about 15 with a few tables for groups of 4. Can't recommend enough if you're in the area!

I like this place for sushi and I order from them quite a bit. There are many many sushi places in Vancouver and especially downtown Vancouver, and especially in this block's vicinity, and I've tried almost all of them. So, comparatively speaking Sushi Howe makes the most sense....to me anyhow. I'll tell you why. Their sushi is consistently fresh and rolled well and it doesn't cost you your first born. When you place an order over the phone they consistently give you the time of day and patiently take your order clarifying everything. Their menu options are plenty and culinarily creative. When you pick up your order they are attentive, friendly and professional...consistently. The only thing I would recommend for improvement is their miso soup. I personally find that the right amount of soy and seaweed and salt in relation to the consistency of the miso ingredient is vital to a really great miso soup and that they could do better in. However, I do like their sushi enough to overlook the miso situation. I've enjoyed their sushi every time I've ordered, and I'm very picky....so that says something.

It was SO GOOD AND SO CHEAP!!! They gave me hot tea right away and my food didn't taste old or fishy in any ways. The ladies in there are all incredibly friendly and just make it an overall great experience.

After alpha sushi closed, I decided to check this place out. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was friendly and the food was good. I had takeout. The nice that about this place is that they have their own app and you could order ahead. Definitely will be back. When you sign up for the app you get points and free edamame on the first order.

Very decent standard sushi. The place is ran by Korean people who make pretty good sushi. From the menu, I had a feeling that they are somehow related to sushi Nanaimo or sushi town etc. The concepts are pretty similar. They don't serve aburi sushi but they do have monkey brains and some common rolls that you would find at any Korean Japanese restaurants, I came here with a friend and he was the one who picked this place. We ordered few dishes to share. -pacific roll (same as California roll but with unagi on top) -monkey brain (avocado, imitation crab and spicy tuna) -crunchy roll (Philadelphia cheese, prawn tempura, imitation crab, and crunch) Not all restaurants serve the monkey brains. It was good but it was definitely a few dollar more then what we would normally pay. Portion size for all the sushi were very decent. I am guessing it's the location that is why it's more expensive. Their sushi are not unique. They serve mostly common rolls. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch here. Service was somewhat lacking. Parking is difficult to find. No free parking nearby. Also, when we came the restaurant was pretty empty. Guessing they get more business on weekdays.

Place is average. But very good service. Will be back if I'm in the area. Had the salmon sashimi, miso soup, and BC roll.

The sushi rolls and salmon are good here. We stopped here twice while on vacation because it was a short walk from our hotel too!

Very good food and friendly staff. I wasn't expecting much walking in that restaurant, I thought it would be just another one of those decent sushi/fast food place. I was wrong, it's much, much better. The food is very tasty and well priced. The sushi rolls are nicely rolled, the yakisoba noodles are firm and not soggy or greasy (a lot of places drawn them in sauce, that's not the case there), the rice balls are unique, fresh and flavourful, the ebi mayo is crispy, and I saved the best for last: the veggie gyozas are delicious! Everything is well priced. The staff is very friendly. One of the combos came with a miso soup, they gave us an extra soup for free so we could both have one. I went twice in a week already and will go back many more times.

We were tired & hungry after a bike excursion around the Stanley Park area. Walking back to the train station, we decided to pick a restaurant on the way. Sushi Howe turned out to be a good pick. I was a bit chilled so tempura udon was a good choice. While the tempura (1 shrimp & 2 sweet potato) weren't quite traditionally done, the rest of the bowl was really good. It was a big serving and my husband happily helped me finish it. Forgot what it was the hubby ordered (probably a -don bowl), but he enjoyed it. Reminded us of places we frequent back home. Familiarity is always a good thing.

It's so so this sushi place. We ordered take out. I ordered a house roll, chicken yakisoba, the pacific roll the special with sashimi combo , nigiri, and miso. Flavours are there but what was disappointing was the avocados in the roll was like someone only smeared it in with a butter knife that that it was hardly anything there. Our house roll even there was very lil salmon and tuna inside.. for 8.75 I usually expect way more salmon and tuna then it being just a thin smear. I've gone to so many other sushi places and never have experienced this as I felt like I was eating just a California roll just only stuffed with crab. Maybe their take out is different from their in house while having a few cocktails??

We walked in with 5 people and no reservation, but were able to get seated immediately in one of their large tables in the middle. Between the 5 of us we ordered the bossam, spicy galbijjim, seafood pancake, and stir fried tteokbokki. This was more than enough food for us. They also gave a few banchan and bowls of rice. The bossam and seafood pancake were stellar - probably the best bossam I have ever had tbh! The meat was so tender yet flavorful and the sides made the perfect wrap. The seafood pancake was extraordinarily crispy and delicious with the sauce. While the galbijjim was good too, I was expecting the short ribs not the large back ribs. The tteokkbokki was just average. Definitely worth a stop!

Highlights for me were the seafood pancake--thick, crispy, and loaded with seafood--and the bossam, which was delicious with all the proper accompaniments. The japchae was my favorite: chewy and not overly sweet, which is refreshing compared to many Korean restaurants in NYC. The dumplings were good but fairly standard, nothing standout. We also had mackerel, which looked good, and the tteokbokki came with beef, which the kids loved. Despite all the food, my son only ate white rice--sigh. Service was very kind and attentive. They brought kids' plates and utensils without us even asking. Would definitely come back.

This unassuming stall inside of the Robson Public Market brought my tastebuds back to Busan…read more Both the chef and cashier were super helpful and nice. They answered all my questions and offered recommendations, and were very welcoming. Nam San seems to be very popular for their Soondae (blood sausage). However, I've never really tried Soondae before and I was feeling nauseous on the day of my visit--so I opted for something more mild and less "adventurous" instead. I will definitely be back to try their Soondae next time though. Daeji Gukbap 10/10 This boiled bowl of stew was exactly what my upset tummy needed. The creamy broth warmed me right up and soothed my stomach so well. It was the only thing I was able to keep down in two days. There was also a generous amount of tender and flavourful pork inside. This bowl of stew honestly reminded me so much of the one we tried in Busan. Definitely recommend it to anyone who likes stews. There was no gaminess at all, and yet the soup was still so full of flavour. Absolutely delicious. Have you guys tried this hidden gem yet? 10/10 ‍10/10 $ ($15-$18/set) Nam San Korean Cuisine | 1610 Robson St, Vancouver

So this place now operates under the name Nam San but is still an absolute gem. One of the three…read moreremaining stalls in the Robson Public Market food court, Nam San specializes in pork offal and homemade Korean blood sausage (soondae), incorporated into a variety of dishes. I always order the same thing, a mixed pork offal and soondae soup. You can choose the spiciness level when you order but they also offer red pepper flakes and fish sauce on the side to add to taste. It comes in small and large, with a side of pickled radish, roasted seaweed, and white rice. Even with the small, you get a lot of meat in the hot stone bowl and it is so comforting. The offal is super tender but the star here is definitely the soondae. Pork blood and vermicelli with spices are encased in an intestine casing, making for a unique springy texture. It's even more tasty when you dip into their homemade fish sauce and the stew warms you to the bone. I love supporting small mom and pop shops, and with how tucked away this place is on the busy Robson strip, I'll definitely make an effort to frequent them time and time again. Please pay them a visit and try their unique offerings out!
