Discovered this place from ig reels and they did not disappoint! Coming in, we were immediately entranced with their joyous ambiance and greeted with a friendly staff. Our waitress was so attentive and since it was our first time here, she made sure to explain some menu favs as well as their buy one get one 50% off deal. Today was our first time eating at the Sushi Joint. Really not a what you would expect for a traditional Japanese/sushi restaurant. We tried the Assorted Tempura appetizer, Sushi Joint Sashimi, and Chirashi Bowl. Service was friendly if not very attentive. Music was overly loud at times, blaring dubstep/EDM with a blown subwoofer, even at a time when we were the only patrons there (for about the first half an hour they were open). Food only tasted bland to okay. The sashimi in both entrees are sliced unexpectedly thin. Rice in the Chirashi Bowl was meh, a bit too firm (like a firm al dente pasta). Tempura was alright, with batter that's nothing to write home about. However, the sauce for the large plate of tempura was a tiny portion in a tiny container, that made it difficult to dip or share. They kind of nickel-and-dime, which you can tell by the side orders on the menu, like extra for rice, miso soup, sauce, wasabi, etc. We were not offered or given any water, and the Hot Green Tea was weak (though hot and free refills). We ordered one side order of Miso Soup, but we were served two. So the miso soup may have been included with each entrée, but we were not told that and it did show up on the bill. The miso soups were watery and not very flavorful. Then, top it all off with the mandatory 15% gratuity/"Service Fee". One of the staff even came by early on, and flipped the sign on the table to point their Service Fee policy language towards us (though without actually talking to us about it). And, as others have mentioned, the credit card authorization slip still has the typical line for gratuity which could mislead many into ultimately tipping 30%+. Good sushi at a decent price. It's the best we've had in the area, but definitely falls short of 5 stars compared to a few of our other favorite sushi spots. Interesting variety and quirky names on the menu. The price isn't so bad, except for the hefty inflation fee. That alone leaves a bitter taste. I definitely recommend to try the spot at least once. Not sure how service is since we always call our order in for pick-up. The location is super shady & wouldn't want to be anywhere near there in the evening. read more

The service is great, no doubt about it. Upon entering to sitting and ordering our food, we felt welcome. However, that really was the extent of the pros. What soured the whole experience is the extra inflation fee added to the final bill. It's a tipping culture that's just become unrealistic and out of touch. Here's the kicker: why don't I just order to go? Nope, that's another inflation fee for that too! Okay, so there's an inflation fee, so that way there's no need to leave more tip, right? Unfortunately, upon checking out, their receipt that you sign still has another line for more tips. To the unknowing customer they could accidently give more money than intended. The sushi was decent. There were some standouts and everything tasted fine. I will say that they use a lot of sauce to cover up their rolls, which is fine for some people. Would I come back? Absolutely. But only if they would remove the predatory inflation fee that just adds to the poor experience. read more

Sushi was delicious I also enjoyed the garlic edamame's. Friend and I had three rolls 1. Lobster roll it was aight. Good had better at other locations 2. Mafia roll now I really liked this one. Spicy tuna with siracha, chili oil and not sure what else will come back for this 3. Sexy lady roll shrimp tempura a avocado jalapeño and mango on the outside All good.. only complaint because never in my sushi eating life was I charged extra for ginger. They gave me a little dish with a few strips and wasabi and was charged for extra. I buy this and it's fairly inexpensive I can understand if I had asked several times (other sushi place graciously bring it) other then that it was all good. The little things make a huge impact. We ordered 5 sushi rolls, they had way too much eel sauce under them that made them taste like candy and the flavors did not blend well because of it. The best roll was the Tokyo drift and the one we liked the least was the crab.com. It had very little soft shell crab in it and half the roll was inedible because it was just super crispy burnt crab legs. For it being as slow as it was we wish the rolls were sliced a little more even as we had variations on sizes where some pieces were twice as thick as others and that kind of ruined the presentation. It wasn't that busy and took about 30 minutes for the server to come take our order after we got our water. Overall it wasn't a bad place, we just wished the flavors were better adjusted and the presentation was a little more uniform. read more

A solid sushi spot that doesn't quite live up to the hype of a 5 star rating. We received a friendly welcome and were seated right away. Loved the ambiance, but the seating was uncomfortable to say the least. The hard bench and chairs made it difficult to just chill and relax. Once seated, we received a ginormous 2 sided menu that takes a bit of time to study. We ordered several rolls and started with the baked mussels, four to an order, that were absolutely delicious and totally worth ordering. Overall, I found some rolls to be too sweet and some too spicy. The Godzilla roll, was picked for having eel, but the amount of sweet sauce beneath the roll changed the whole flavor profile, making it my least favorite roll. If you love spicy, order the Dark Angel roll. The spice definitely stands out as the first thing you taste. These two rolls were definitely unbalanced in flavor. We loved the Hulk roll, which included baked lagostino lobster on top. Generous with the avocado and just a flavor explosion of all good things. This one is worth ordering. The Super Rainbow roll was another table favorite. I'm just not quite sold on this place yet. I may be back to try more. read more

We've eaten here a couple of times, but more frequently order carry out. Seeing since we keep returning, the food is obviously fairly ok. They do server pretty good rolls here! My only real reason for knocking a star off is that we frequently need to request they not use their sriracha based sauces. For us they can be rather spicy, but I guess that's the nature of them trying to tweak the food for local tastes. Luckily requesting they sub out the spicy mayo for the regular mayo on some of the rolls has never been a problem. The Sushi Joint will definitely hit the spot if you want rolls for dinner. read more

SO happy that bomb sushi has arrived in Norwalk! We've been watching this spot, being built, for the past year. Halle-freaking-lu-ya, it was worth the wait! Y'all, the Sushi Joint is legittttt! Had heard there were 2 other locations that were good, so I'm glad this Norwalk location followed suit. We came hungry and left stuffed AF! We ate so much, we didn't eat, until dinner the next day, LOL! Get everything! Like, for real. There wasn't a roll or menu item we didn't like. And the service was great. We found parking right away, were sat and served immediately. All staff was super friendly. Some rolls I can remember names of: Norwalk, 911, Black Pearl, and all of the simple sushi over rice were amazing! Again, get it allllll! Can't wait to come back when they are able to serve beer with the sushi. Big ups to the Sushi Joint! UPDATE: I've been coming more frequently.
