I am a big sushi/sashimi eater, and I have to say that this place was just "okay," definitely not going back there though. We had our usual - tuna, salmon, unagi, ebi (for my husband), and some rolls. (spider roll, hot spicy tuna roll and lobster roll) Tuna was cut a little thin for me, salmon was okay... we really like halibut nigiri, but they didn't have that. I did not like their hand rolls, we regretted that we ordered them. Too mushy and too much avocado. Service was fair, although the server didn't seem too happy to be there. Maybe a little bit of smile would have made a different experience for us. We have been going to Kazu for many, many years. He is the standard by which we measure all other sushi. San Francisco, Hawai'i, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, New York, doesn't matter, we always compare the sushi to Kazu. RARELY do these places match up. This is something that my wife and I discuss all the time- what makes it different- it's just rice and fish. Sure, his fish is fresh, thick slices, creative rolls- all the good stuff. There was nothing 4-star about this place. The miso was good, but the "crab" in the crab salad is fake. The tempura was heavy and doughy, not light and crispy. Did not try the sushi or sashimi as the place smelled "fishy" - not in a good way. Lastly, the entire place needs to be remodeled. Bathroom and carpet are simply put, gross. read more

We ordered $150 worth of to go order on Saturday, April 21st, 2018. First time to try this restaurant. Half of raw seafood not fresh enough for sashimi and rice was hard in all the rolls and underneath raw fish. I can understand how sometimes fish is too expensive to throw out but not throwing out leftover rice from day before is inexcusable. So disappointed that food was so bad since restaurant is close to us and we eat sushi quite often. So many restaurants have no quality control mechanism. read more

I've been to the new Arahahoe location twice in the last two weeks and frankly I'm not very impressed. This is at the old location that used to be Sushi Wave. On both trips the service was absolutley horrible. On my 1st trip the server never explained that there was a all you can eat menu, we ended up ordering some rolls and were charged the all you can eat price. On my second trip I had to ask for a lunch menu. The picture showed 4 pcs of roll with the bento box, then my lunch arrived I only received 2 pcs. Also, I never received the sauce for my chicken, I had to ask the server 2x's. I really miss the old Sushi Wave. I would pass on this place read more

I apologize for I am about to mention specific establishments, but I don't want THIS place to go. SUSHI KAZU CANNOT GO. As Cassandra F. said, the outside of Sushi Kazu is very unassuming. Inside, quaint. Because of this, as well as discontentment after discontentment trying a plethora of Japanese establishments around, my family and I were relunctant to eat here at first as I assumed it was another one of those haole/non-Japanese "sushi" places. Born and raised in Hawaii, and being transplanted in the mainland, it's rare that I become impressed with mainland sushi. After eating at Sushi Kazu, I've been hesitant to eat anywhere else. For one, you can tell that the fish was definitely fresh. It's up to par with Sonoda's and Sushi Den. If you're around the area, or are contemplating to go to Sushi Wave or Samurai(which I think are near enough), just come here. It's not too far. Good bang for your buck. Not the best sushi I've had, but in Colorado, yes, top of my list. The sushi definitely above average. With money and flavor, with concern to distance as well, this is my favorite sushi place to go to around the surrounding Denver area. One definitely must go here if you're around the area. read more

A wonderful sushi bar wrapped in an unassuming building/complex. The staff was excellent, quick, and friendly. The sushi chefs seemed to have fun while creating their masterpieces. The sushi was some of the best I have had-and was a very reasonable price and had a ton of different types of sushi to chose from! I've been going to Kazu's since his first day of business at this location. I've tried numerous Sushi places all over Denver and Japan. I have yet to find a rival to Kazu. He's as authentic as a Japanese Sushi Chef gets and his fish melts in your mouth. I don't bother filling out an order card anymore; I just tell him to surprise me. Other Sushi restaurants charge the same or more for tiny little bits of fish; Kazu filets beautiful pieces and is a true craftsman in his preparation. Sushi Kazu has been a favorite of my girlfriend and I for quite some time. Shame on me for taking so long to finally announce to the world that this sushi restaurant has the most consistently great food and service of any sushi places around. We have been here at least 5 times and every single time, they rock! This last time we visited, I expected it to test their patience, as it was 9:40pm and they closed at 10pm. When I walked in and asked if we could still be served, they warmly welcomed us with excitement to have us in their establishment. We always see the same faces behind the sushi bar and serving tables, which tells me they must like it there. The pricing is very reasonable! We always get a "Volcano" roll which is a baked roll topped off with a bay scallop! Perfect temperature and flavor. They even have a loyalty card that you can use to earn a free meal! This sushi place is a staple for us and we will always consider them when craving sushi! They have a sticker on the door that says "yelpers love us" (or something like that), and BOY IS THAT TRUE!!! This unassuming little hole in the wall will blow you away. Fast service and delicious sushi made by a master. The pieces are big and the prices are reasonable. Would recommend for couples, have a great meal without breaking the bank. My favorite was the fatty tuna, it was the best I've ever had. Definitely coming back again! read more

Such a tiny venue with poor table/host reservation assistance that everyone is in a tiny walk way and no seating, be prepared to wait a longtime and feel cramped, but the server will bouncer wanderers that try to see if there is any space at the sushi bar lol read more

Worse service I ever had. One meal came out my son ate it. Twenty minutes later another meal came out I waited for my friends order to come out. I was moved to write this review because I was absolutely embarrassed I talked two friends into lunching there. We were appalled by our waitress's inattentiveness, the shrimp tempura was undercooked, and the spider roll was like any other. ...Not in a good way. I'd like to change this review, we'll see. When I emailed them at info@sushikazu.com, I got a failed delivery response from an alias. I've since attempted to contact Andres via another address Google found. Until I hear back from them/him, I must assume that the economy has effected S.K.'s bottom line enough so their quality has suffered. Was on vacation and craving good sushi. Found Sushi Kazu on Yelp and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered pick up and they were happy to create off the menu rolls per request. Even with a low key exterior, the small but warm sushi restaurant was packed (on a Thursday). What a pleasure to have an authentic Japanese restaurant in the heart of Centennial! Actually, it's v. close to the Centennial airport and seems to be a favorite with those flying in and out. Every time we have been there, Kazu is making sushi magic behind the counter. He and his sushi chefs graciously take a few minutes to engage with customers. Kazu sushi has a v. friendly atmosphere. We went here on a weeknight. It was quiet and the server was attentive. The avocado rolls and the california rolls are very tasty.

We came across this place by accident, but were pleasantly surprised! The sushi was amazing. Looking at prices, my first thought was this place was pricey, but once the rolls came I understood why...The rolls were probably the most generous in size compared to every other sushi place we've yet to try. Very rich in flavor as well. The staff was very nice and attentive. Upon leaving we also received a punch card, to bring back with us for next visits. Best sushi I have had in Denver. Kazu-san is very friendly and welcoming, always wearing a smile. I took my family who came in from out of town and everyone was very pleased. Everything tastes very fresh and clean, large variety of rolls and even vegetarian options. My wife, who normally does not eat sushi, loved it, and she is a tough critic. i went here based on the good reviews. the sushi i ordered for take out was spoiled. the fact that the sushi chef didn't recognize that when he plated it makes me think they haven't got a clue about sushi. i had to drive back and return the sushi, and was credited for what i did not eat. i'm glad they didn't offer me a voucher because i am never coming back. read more
