As someone who was raised in Hawaii and visited Japan, my standards for japanese food is very high and this place did not disappoint-- this place is truly a hidden gem! The food is delicious, comforting, and authentic! My husband and I stumbled upon this hole in the wall and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is homey and relaxing! We definitely will be returning!

This place is so underrated. In Japanese culture they teach humility a lot. As if to reflect the very value and discipline, this restaurant's existence is extremely humble. It's almost as if they hate to get recognized. Whatever the case may be, my culturally diverse friends (married couple) wanted to meet me for a nice Tuesday evening meal at this restaurant. It had been a while the last time I had dined here; it sure was good to be back. I could always go for some pieces of sushi and sashimi at a place like this but I was craving for something more family style. After glancing at the menu, the sashimi and shrimp tempura combo (that comes with salad, miso soup and rice) caught my attention. It was a quiet Tuesday night so service was pretty fast. I was hungry for a nice dinner so everyone's food coming out from the kitchen so quickly truly satisfied our famished souls/mind. The 5 piece-set of my combo beautifully decorated our table. The hamachi kama we shared was a good portion and was perfectly prepared/cooked. My friend couple had nabeyaki udon (husband) and some rolls from the sushi menu (wife) and they all looked so good. I don't hear many people talk about this place (like I stated at the beginning of this review.) But I am officially declaring today that Sushi Kazu has a place in my heart. Next time, I'll bring my daughter for a nice family dinner.

Sushi Kazu's new $19.5 bento was quite a treat with 5 main dishes to choose from along with rice, shumai, springrolls and potato salad, just the right lunch portion. Always enjoy their homey ambience. Here are their chicken katsu bento, tempura ramen and sashimi salad.

This place is such a hidden gem. Timy sushi spot that has a killer happy hour. Service was dynamite, they were trying to bring in some soju and let us sample it with them, they were super nice! The chef was great and he evenade us a unique roll he made on the spot he's been working on. They do sake tastings so definitely follow this place..highly recommend the dinner special for a bit of everything and some extra unagi nigiri!

I am so glad I found Sushi Kazu! It is definitely a hole in the wall sushi bar and it does not disappoint. Service was excellent, they have the sweetest employees! For my first visit here, I tried the Chicken Kar-age as an appetizer. The chicken was cooked perfectly! It was moist and flavorful. As my main course, I tried two sushi rolls: Spider and Salmon. The salmon roll was amazing, you can tell that the fish is fresh! I was expecting something a little different for the Spider roll but it was still really good! I love the shrimp tempura in the roll. I also was able to try some of the Chicken Teriyaki! That did not disappoint It was so flavorful and you can taste a slight smokiness in the chicken.

I have no idea how I've missed this place after living in Denver for years... it's a gem. A taste of the motherland and my new place to go when feeling homesick, stressed, or want to celebrate a special occasion. The food is authentic. Not fusion. The portion of saba (mackerel) is GENEROUS and the flavor ON POINT. My husband got the yakiniku and it tasted like home. The sashimi was also fresh! If you're looking for a fusion place, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a taste of 日本 where the staff is friendly and kind, this is it. We will be back - again and again.

I had the sushi deluxe dinner which included miso soup, rice, salad, sashimi, tempura, baked salmon, nigiri, and a couple rolls. The service was excellent, chef was friendly, and the ambiance was relaxing. Sushi Kazu is always a treat!

Been going here for years. I walked in yesterday and right away I knew something was different. It changed ownership. I wanted to leave as I am particular about where I eat sushi. This was my secret place. My friend said to give it a try. Well, I can tell you I won't be back. We had the spicy tuna hand roll, salmon and tuna sashimi, the baked mussels, volcano roll, hip hop roll and ordered the seared salmon belly special. The spicy tuna roll was good. Never received the salmon belly but was charged for it. Told the waitress and she said oh, you didn't receive it???? Then proceeded to take it off the bill. The hip hop roll we left uneaten. I couldn't put my finger on it but it was not tasty. The volcano roll was not hot/baked. They torched the top to make it looked baked and warm but it was cold and the tempura mushy. The sashimi was ok. Baked mussels would have been nice if not for the bbq or whatever sauce they put on the spicy mayo. While sitting there, we heard multiple customers ask if it changed ownership. I will surely miss the old Sushi Kazu.

Fresh sushi - salmon was high quality.

Tried this place for the first time last night with my boyfriend. I had scallops and shrimp. He had…read morethe filet mignon and lobster. We had an amazing time with a wonderful chef originating from Indonesia, who has traveled all over the U.S. and this place is blessed to have his level of quality, skill and overall love into the food and service Loved the unique ambiance! There is a booth in a cozy corner with botanical material, and the Sakura trees decorated all around.

Went in for sushi (no hibachi) which may have been the problem. It was overpriced, rolls were…read more poorly rolled, and the staff is not properly trained. Despite the high price point, having no soy sauce ramekins, a terrible drink (only ordered a margarita because the other cocktail options are limited), and nonexistent servers- I was just hoping for the food to be correctly brought out and tasty. Nope. Didn't get that either. When they brought the food out, it wasn't what we ordered, and our server vanished. After waiting for a long time, while being very hungry, I ate of one of the pieces of the salmon nigiri (there were 3 of us and only 2 pieces of the correct nigiri- I needed to eat something!). When the server reappeared she was busy on the hibachi side doing something (we were the only table in the entire restaurant), didn't check on us, so I got up to go talk to her about the mix-up. She was VERY confused, but after re-explaining multiple times, she brought us the additional yellowtail nigiri that we originally ordered along with the salmon roll that you can see on the photo I included. After seeing what our (not so cheap) roll looked like, I was pretty much over this place and wanted to just leave. Our bill was high and included the salmon nigiri that we did not order. Once again I had to get up to go talk to the server, and explain the situation despite us having already discussed it. She instantly said, "But you ate it!", and that is what ultimately led to me writing a review rather than just looking ahead and never coming back. At this point, I am arguing with this woman trying to explain that we came to eat a meal, were hungry, couldn't find the server and inevitably ate 1 of 2 pieces of salmon nigiri that we did not order since there were 3 people and only 2 pieces of what we did order. She did not agree with me, so I left it at: we are not paying for the salmon, you can bring me the updated bill. It's rare (for me) to experience a server be so argumentative, and I've never seen sushi so poorly rolled. This place isn't it. I never want to give a business a bad review, but this is unfortunately warranted. Try literally anywhere else as there are multiple other sushi restaurants within 10 minutes of this place.
