An all-you-can-eat sushi buffet inside a mall is probably not the first place you'd look for good food, but since we had a huge party, we wanted a place that had plenty of options, and we were satisfied with Sushi King at Dulles Town Center. First, be careful because there are two AYCE options, and the one with crab legs is much more expensive than the one without - be specific about which one you're getting. The drinks are generous, the food is good, and in addition to the options at the buffet are table options, with various rolls and appetizers like the Jalapeno Yellowtail (my favorite) and the Black Pepper Tuna Tataki - order these and they'll bring them out to your table. We also ordered several rolls and they came out together on a huge boat. There are also cooked options for the kids. Overall, a decent sushi venture with plenty of options. Thumbs up! read more

We came here for dinner on a Friday at 7:45pm. It was mine and my partner's way of honoring my dad and my grandmother's memory - they both LOVED buffets. It wasn't super crowded, but there was a good amount of people that were there. Great sign. Ambiance is chill and relaxed. We've been here twice before and we knew exactly what to get and how to order for the best bang for buck under the deluxe option: - small serving of soup and plate from the buffet (choose only small bites you want to try and know you can finish) -- we loved the orange chicken and the miso soup; galbi could be seasoned better. They also have "kid" buffet options: chicken nuggets, fries, and pizza. My partner has a sweet spot for kid food at buffets so he enjoyed the pizza - LARGE serving of sashimi: we did 8 pieces each of salmon, tuna, white tuna, and red clam; 4 pieces of eel and tofu skin; 2 pieces of shrimp. SUPER cool and fresh; hits the seafood craving spot so nicely - plate of oysters from the cold bar - we did about a dozen; most were sweet but the one I ended on was briny - some people like briny but it isn't my thing - no sushi for us. Rice fills you up so fast. ("Gotta make my money worth" in Steven He voice) - NEW: we opted for the special appetizers: one salmon wrap and one house special beef soba noodle bowl per person. Beef soba soup was somewhat spicy and tasted as if a bowl of pho and a bowl of ramen had a baby. Amazing. The Kani wrapped in salmon doused in yuzu sauce with tobiko and chopped scallions was DELICIOUS. Order this and you won't need a tartare appetizer. - no "boba tea" it doesn't look appetizing tbh. My partner got a peach jasmine tea and regretted it - too artificially sweetened - don't forget the crab legs! They're such a large serving, keep that in mind. But the amount of work makes you hungry and makes you crave that "reward"; comes with melted butter but you don't really need it as it isn't that great and the crab legs are tasty enough - NEW: soda is on the house now! We got a Diet Pepsi -- washes down everything so nicely - always end on ice cream-- we love the mini Helados de Mexico - puddings are hit or miss. We loved the ube pudding; the honeydew tasted too artificial and left a chemical aftertaste We came home feeling so satisfied. And the fact that all of the above was $93 before tip was amazing. I recently went to Sushi King on a Saturday afternoon after the lunch rush. The dining room is quite large and fairly quiet, so even if you are dining alone, you don't feel crowded. The server was helpful explaining how to navigate the food stations and answered a few of my questions. Then it was off to the buffet. The buffet has many choices beyond the sushi, however sushi is clearly the main event. There is an excellent selection of appetizers, main courses and plenty of desserts. Plenty of choices for a non-sushi patron who enjoys Chinese food, as well as Japanese food. The sushi is good quality for an AYCE restaurant. The key to Sushi King is that you must focus on your sushi consumption before being lured into the buffet. Don't get distracted!! It's very easy to get filled up on carbs before being able to enjoy all the sushi offerings you want to try. In other words, pace yourself. It is likely that you aren't going to get to eat everything you want, so focus on the reason you came to Sushi King in the first place! All in all, Sushi King is a great deal. We came here for lunch on a Saturday and there was no wait. We chose the regular AYCE which does not include unlimited sashimi and crab legs (deluxe/premium AYCE). There's a buffet bar with a good amount non-sushi options like lomein, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, galbi, shrimp, mussels, potstickers, soups, crawfish, raw bar, salad, desserts, etc. The fridge also has various milk tea options. If you had to get full on something other than the sushi here, I would recommend the galbi!! It was so flavorful and also had such a nice char to it! For sushi, we really enjoyed the following nigiris: salmon, yellowtail, and white tuna. Everything tasted fresh except for some of the regular tuna which was hit or miss. The fish was decent size and the rice was fluffy, but could've use a bit less rice per piece imo. We thought the spider roll (soft shell crab roll) was nicely done and wasn't drowning in eel sauce. To start with the good, the entrance is beautiful. The flowers and decor get you excited for a new experience. Service was also great. Our server was so sweet, patient, and attentive. Now the truth of the matter. This was honestly the worst AYCE sushi experience I have had in the DMV. I don't think the rice was cooked properly. The sushi had a soft and mushy texture. Not packed. Fell apart in your mouth. The fried bar lacked flavor. Hardly any salt or pepper. All items had a fishy flavor which tells me it was not refreshed frequently. The beef sobo soup had an entire half of an onion and very minimal noodles yet still lacked flavor. There are plenty of other AYCE sushi in the area that are better. I was super excited to see we were getting a sushi king as I love other locations of this chain. As far as I can tell, this one is a lot different than the other ones I've been too in VA. Overall, I prefer some of the other AYCE sushi restaurants in the area than this one. We were excited to see a large buffet area with a wide variety of foods. The food tasted good, but since it's being heated via hot plates etc, it gets cold really quickly . We came around 8 and some of the items were out and weren't restocked which is understandable since they closed at 9:30 and it was not very full. Service was quick and very friendly and attentive! That was the one really high note. Unfortunately, the food fell a little flat for us. Aside from the food getting cold super quickly, we each ordered two rolls. One of my rolls was good but the second one had such a strange taste to it, not like any roll I've had before and it was just a simple rainbow roll. Couldn't finish the piece I had tried. The dessert section is ok, but most of it was puddings and jellos which could be great for kids. Can't beat the value of this place. Because they had just had their grand opening, the meal was 20% off. All of the fish was super fresh and delicious. I mean - seriously you can't beat the price. We went at 4pm so there were not many people. The music is a little irritating, but that's fine. They have a hot food bar, and the tempura, miso, etc are pretty good. You can grab some appetizer from the buffet area and order items through your server. We grabbed some fried veggies, steamed mussels, salmon seaweed salad, crab Rangoon while waiting for our main dishes. We ordered Rock shrimp, coconut shrimp, peppered tuna, peppered salmon, chicken katsu, and special rolls. Food was delivered at once - this might be a reason why some dishes weren't hot when we got them. Overall quality of food was about 4 out of 5. Crazy tuna roll was great! Rock shrimp was good too! Not only was this place ayce open all day, but they also had a couple different options. For about $20 you can do the lunch ayce which has a limited menu and does not include nigiri or the milk tea in the cooler. If you mainly do rolls, this could be a good option. I love nigiri, so I went for the $28 ayce which is basically anything on the menu. Also, both options include a buffet that has some hot food and cold food options self serve. Everything was delicious. Wasn't a huge fan of the puddings, but the main focus here is the sushi, not the dessert. I would definitely come back here. read more

Much of it reminded us of airplane food--visually appealing at first glance, but lacking in both aroma and taste. From the buffet to the sushi, nothing stood out in a good way. Even the drinks were overly sweet and lacked real flavor. It felt like a case of style over substance--lots of presentation, but little to back it up. We were also disappointed that they insisted on charging the full adult price for our 11-year-old, who ate very little. There's no à la carte option for kids, which feels unreasonable. The food and the service is always great here. For us it's worth the 45 minute drive. The staff is very attentive and the sushi/sashimi is fresh, with a lot of made to order options. The hot and cold bar have a great variety. And, who can turn down unlimited ice cream and Melona for dessert. When they announced this was opening we were confused thinking it was the same Sushi King that Sushi Queen nearby is part of. Oddly, this is a very different place with different owners. There is less seating but it is very cozy. The staff is all very friendly. This is a much different all you can eat experience. They have two options, one with sashimi for more and we chose the cheaper one. Some of the non-sushi food is served at the buffet. Everything we ate was wonderful and the fish to rice ratio is one of the highest on fish we have ever had at any restaurant, all you can eat or not when most of the all you can eat places understandably are heavier on the rice. The food was so filling we didn't get seconds and my wife and I ate some of our friend's sushi. We will still go to Sushi Queen and their sister restaurant Sushi Ohayo sometimes, but this new independent Sushi King is our new favorite. read more

I heard about this place via social media and saw they were doing promotions so decided had to go. This place is right near the mall entrance and they have the regular pricing for the buffet or an extra for $12 to get sashimi and crab legs where everyone at the table has to get the same pricing. Personally I think the normal pricing is fine by itself since there is made-to-order sushi and also good options at the buffet stands where you can easily get your fix. I have to point out the Japanese burrito roll since I have never seen that before and it was great, so a must get. They also lay out a whole no leftover policy with prices of how much extra to charge for each type but apparently it was only for a considerable amount of food. Came back a second time since their opening. So many improvements! They added bone in short rib on the buffet, and overall items on there seemed fresher. There was a larger ice cream novelty selection with actual brand name quality choices. They also added complementary bubble teas. I think I didn't enjoy my first visit as much since the al la carte non-sushi items are very average, and too large of a portion for AYCE. This time I decided to stick to the buffet for hot items, and only order sushi. The quality was great (for a sushi buffet). Much better than Sushi Queen and on par with Sushi Oishii. Really thick pieces of fish, and I still love how they come in pieces of 4 so you can try more of the menu. It's a shame they weren't busy. Sushi Queen is usually a zoo when i go, and Sushi King has so many advantages over them at the same price. At the moment they are running a buy 3 get one meal free special. A steal. I think for now this would be my main AYCE Sushi recommendation in NOVA. Sushi Oishji in Vienna is more $$ but similar quality Sushi. They have better non sushi dishes, though less selection with no buffet. Don't bother. I was really looking forward to this place opening since it was announced. I came in for the first time during their soft opening, and it was pretty good, though I did find hair in the melted butter. I decided to try again and it was still just OK. The third time I came in there was a price change for the added crab legs that I thought was a little exorbitant so I left, and then returned again for dinner a week later and the food quality had definitely fallen off. My final visit was this evening (7/9) and for $40 I learned they had switched to serving their all-you-can eat crab legs cold, whereas the first few visits the crabs had been cooked and pretty good.
