My family and I visit this restaurant regularly, we try to get something different every time. Undeniably, this is some of the best sushi around. High quality ingredients, well assembled and served quickly by friendly waitstaff. I do eat a lot of sushi. This place has relatively good value, especially during Happy Hour. When I was there yesterday, it was during the Happy Hour. The restaurant was packed. I ordered a sake wine, a beer, a sashimi plate, and 3 rolls. I thought the rolls were not bad, but the sashimi was not that great. I wasn't able to taste the freshness and the sweetness of the fresh fish, they're not even as good as some of the conveyor belt sushi places. Found my new favorite sushi place! Hands down the best and most fresh sushi outside of Seattle. The fish on the nigiri was so huge compared to the rice! Best value in Sushi, ever.}} In Auburn, an adequate sushi bar did not exist until Sushi Konami made its appearance a few months ago. This place is tucked in and hidden away from the main road inside the Haggen supermarket complex in Lakeland Hills next to Legendary donuts and Verizon. Because it's a new business, I made sure they have completed their adjustments and a baseline before commenting. Different menu items I consumed to date: Appetizers: Chicken Kara-age (Japanese style fried chicken nuggets) - there is a misconception regarding this mysterious food item on how it supposed to be cooked. Lightly marinated and coated in a thin coating of batter, the taste of the dark meat chicken is soft and tender. This is the real way Japanese traditionally eat their Chicken Kara-age, however, if you are used to a crispy coating, you'll have to ask for that that option. It was recommended that they put that as an option in their menu as folks may be disappointed to learn it isn't that darn crispy version they had envisioned. Shiso A-ge - half a dozen spicy tuna wrapped in minty Shiso leaves that is lightly battered and fried. This an interesting way of prep and I am not sure how to react to its uniqueness in flavor. I like it. Oyster volcano - oysters, paired with sautéed fish & vegetables are baked on an oyster shell. Flavors pop, not overcooked and without any heavy fish taste. Various rolls (maki) and handrolls: California roll, spicy tuna roll, unagi roll and spider roll. I have yet to experience any problems with their quality of rice, always firm, never soggy or too dry. The filling of vegetables are always fresh tasting along with the seafood that they put into each roll. One thing I do feel could be improved is the crunchiness of the tempura coating on the soft shell crabs. Bento boxes (imho, the best bang for the buck every time!): Sushi Bento: A california roll with an eight pack of nigri: namely shrimp, tuna, yellowtail, salmon, octopus and more - plus Konami Salad and miso soup. I have eaten this at least 4 times and every time I'm amazed at the value of what you get for your dollar. The quantity and variety of sushi offered are above average. Sashimi Bento: An assortment of sushimi included: Tuna, spicy tuna, red snapper, yellowtail, salmon, squid and seaweed salad, plus the Konami salad and miso soup. Another winner in my book, the fresh fish selection surprised me again when I thought the sushi bento couldn't be beat. Nice option when I want less rice and more fish. Newly launched as of September 17 is their Happy Hour menu, a smart move to bring in business. Only $1.50 per nigiri on the menu! Lastly, the sushi chefs are super receptive to feedback and take those comments seriously. Finally, a healthier alternative to all that fast food 'round here. read more

This place is really good the quality of the sushi taste fresh the place is really small but it's a nice setting you can see the sushi chefs making the sushi which I think is pretty cool. Only reason why I'm giving a four-star is because it is really pricey but I assume that's all sushi places. Their teriyaki is like $17 for a small portion.
