The price was decent, but the portions are smaller than what we are used to. For reference, we had heavy pupus prior to dining here, and i still could finish the whole portion. I don't consider myself a big eater so i think some ppl may dine here and not come away feeling full afterwards lol. The chirashi was a good assortment, but again, the portion is what i would consider a half size. The tempura bowl was just ok, being that it only came with shrimp and green beans. The prices for the food are wonderful. The sushi is fresh and it comes out very quick. The service is very attentive and the place is extremely clean. It wasn't too busy. It's kind of hidden in a strip mall underground, but you get what you pay for and this is extremely Good Liguiri and Sushi for a really good price, especially in Hawaii. It's high rated on yelp for a reason it seems like it's a go to spot and they do have specials every day but you have to make sure you get there in time. I highly recommend finding this place and getting some good sushi for a great price with quick Service Not a crazy line. Checked out the food and decided on this restaurant in this food court. I have to say this was a find in a diamond in a rough. Besides having fresh delicious sushi, the soy sauce is unique on its own. It is a Japanese soy sauce that they've added other ingredients to enhance the flavors. Being from California, I can say that I've had good sushi, but this was quite an experience. Staff was friendly and accommodating. read more

I can only match what others have said - A really nice, classic Japan experience, something I'd expect in a department store, train station, small shop in my area - all good things, matches places I've loved over the years. The food quality is absolutely first rate, with some fun daily deals if you are luck enough to get one. Located downstairs in the StixAsia food court. Normally I wouldn't stop to eat sushi at a place in a food court, but the reviews made me give it a try. You can order by the piece and it being a few dollar a piece made it feel like it's pretty cheap. However it added up pretty quickly. Surprisingly the albacore sushi was very good, however everything else was just not bad. We tried the eel, yellowtail, squid, inari, tuna, and rolled egg. It wasn't excellent sushi, but maybe a step up from a Japanese grocery store sushi. Would I return? Maybe if my choices were limited, but it wouldn't be on my list. read more

I wasn't a big fan of the slightly cooked versions that were part of the 5 piece salmon nigiri. The spicy tuna was excellent -- on the face of it, It looks ordinary but I thought the quality of the roll was outstanding. The rainbow roll was good as well, but similar to offerings at other places. The set sushi was a hit or miss. Some of the selections were great -- others not so. Mom and I went to Stix Asia to browse and try something new for us. Post-pandemic, looks like a bunch of folks have opened here, though the bulk of them are ramen/noodle shops. The one sushi place, Sushi Matsuri welcomed us from the get-go and had us seated easily. Lots of comfortable seats and we took a booth. We ordered a bottle of sake; only two choices, though they were wise in making it one sweet and one dry selection. Chose the dry and didn't regret it, nice and cold and delicious. For appetizers we had the mentaiko daikon salad and the chawanmushi. Never had mentaiko in daikon combo and the two went well together. Crunchy daikon with smooth creamy mentaiko sauce was a great starter. The chawanmushi had a lot of flavor and chunks of chicken, beans, and other goodies. For our mains we shared an order of assorted tempura and both got sushi variety plates. I got the "Nigiri Awa 14-piece" set and mom got the smaller "Nigiri Seto 10-piece" set. The tempura was crunchy and good, a good assortment included sweet potato, carrot, asparagus, fish, and of course 3 large prawns. The sushi sets were great, fresh fish and seafood with great rice nested underneath. They were not skimpy with the size of the toppings. They don't offer dessert but you don't need it; there's a gelato place right next door where you can get real matcha flavored drinks or other desserts. read more

Just ate here because of all of the amazing reviews and had the worst sushi of my life. And I'll even eat gas station sushi. Service was extremely fast, however, their spicy tuna roll has canned tuna in it? The inari was extremely tough and not made for sushi, so every bite was a choking hazard. We also got the veggie roll that was full of dark brown avocado. The rolls were also expensive - $21 for a canned tuna roll drenched in mayonnaise. I expected fresher/higher quality from a restaurant that supposedly sources everything straight from Japan (maybe the canned tuna is from Japan?). I can't speak for the sashimi since we only ordered rolls, however, I will not be returning. Would not recommend. read more

One's an izakaya, another's a food truck, and this one's a sushi spot in the upmarket pan-Asian STIX ASIA food hall. Jamie W. and I just returned our rental car after a day tooling up to the North Shore. After gorging on garlic shrimp and shave ice, we weren't starving. However, the sight of an empty sushi restaurant just made us feel a need to take advantage of the moment when we strolled through the subterranean culinary court. We parked ourselves here ready to be seduced by images of fresh fish in their menu. Surprisingly it wasn't excessively pricey considering we were in the middle of Waikiki. It was definitely tourist central. After a day at the beach, we were looking for someplace to eat. We decided to check out STIX Asia and stumbled into this place. The menu looked appetizing so we figured we would try it out. The waiter immediately greeted us and told us about their lunch specials, which ends at 5:00pm. We realized that we only had five more minutes so we got seated and placed our orders right away. Most places end their lunch specials early in the afternoon so I was happy that they still let us order. We weren't looking for anything too heavy since it was an early dinner for us. While we waited, the waiter gave me a basket to put my bag inside. What a lovely touch! I wish more restaurants did that. It's always a struggle trying to either hold my bag in my lap while I eat or trying to manuever it on the back of the chair. We watched as the chef made our food and it was so quick! I checked the time I took the picture and it was actually only 5:06pm. The bowl I got was delicious. I love that they also give you miso soup with your meal. Did you know they make their own shoyu?
