My mom is a regular here and I finally get to try it with her! No wonder why she keeps coming back, its because they have good quality food, great portions with an affordable price. Our favorite is the Japanese Ceviche, which is tuna, salmon with cilantro and lemon juice. The fish quality was fresh and definitely delicious. I can't wait to get it again haha. My mom and I also shared their Korean Bbq ribs, which was surprisingly good! It came with grilled onions, cabbage with this flavorful sauce and rice. Been to this place a few times and the sushi is mediocre. The fish isn't extremely fresh and the rice is a little strange. Although, because it's local, we've been here to eat 4 or 5 times. When we came this last time, the host started talking to us, then the owner suddenly butted in to interrupt her and said, "no no answer the phone first!" ... Even though the phone started ringing AFTER the host started talking to us... So what it came down to is that the owner wanted to get the money from the order on the phone first, and then get our money after. It was extremely rude. Then I told the owner how rude it was, and this other employee jumped in and started defending him going on and on about what she thought had happened. We wanted very badly for this sushi place to be the "best in sgv" as they claim; it simply is not. First and last time eating here was almost unbearable. The fish was clearly not fresh, and appeared previously frozen. Totally unappetizing and lacked flavor. Ordered straight sushi - not rolls or maki: this is how you test a real sushi house because they cannot cover up and hide the true low grade quality of their frozen fish with mayo, crumbles and other nonsense. The sushi I was served resembled something you'd pick up at a grocery store (even then the sushi seems a bit fresher). Service was lack luster as well. Disappointed, I never returned. This was in 2021 during the afternoon when they weren't allowing indoor seating. The server male with glasses was aloof and unkindly quipped that their Happy Hour was no longer being honored. I am so impressed with this restaurant. Aaron who took my order late on Martin Luther King Day was incredibly accommodating for my first time. Rest assured he will be seeing my business again. I called ordering 6 rolls for three different types of fish I like. The total added up to much more than I thought. I told Aaron that I only had a certain amount of money to work with and he decided to work with the owner and adjust his pricing. Talk about customer service! Anyhoo, the cherry on top was the food. I made out with 12 rolls (4 spicy albacore, 4 salmon, and 4 yellowtail). The quality was amazing and the spicy albacore had a sauce which was impeccable. The spice was excellent-had a great kick but wasn't excessive. Everything here was truly done right; what I'd expect out of sushi and more. The customer service was really wonderful. I actually don't write Yelp reviews often but but the service alone has prompted me to write this. This is my new go-to sushi spot in Glendora. Food tastes great. The selection of sushi is also pretty wide, and there are other options if you aren't into just sushi. Really like the half grilled tuna they sell, and the look of the restaurant is cozy and warm, almost fancy. The service is like any service in any other restaurant. Call a waiter if you need, they come check up on you from time to time, food comes out without waiting for too long. Ok so taste and quality: Every roll came out as described, not over stuffed but perfectly sized for you to order and pass around as sushi is meant to be enjoyed. The albacore carpaccio was my favorite but what I loved most is how you can make any roll into a hand roll. The fish was clean and prepared as described and again not overwhelming. The baked popcorn lobster roll was probably my least favorite - it was missing love. The service: i would say is well deserving of 3.5ish stars. I enjoy having 1 server, i dont like having multiple people wait on our table, i never know when its the right time to ask if they forgot you asked for more of something. The ambience: upon entering it had a congested smell like when furniture has been sitting in a closed room too long with no air circulating. We sat inside because outside was reservation only, once we sat down and the servers were there to greet you take your drink order and get you started right away. Our food came probably less than 10 minutes after we ordered it. Since the new female manager started, the quality and service have significantly deteriorated. She is incredibly rude--not just to the customers, but to the employees as well. Her poor attitude extends beyond the restaurant; I've heard from neighboring businesses that she is equally unpleasant to them. This kind of management has clearly taken a toll on the overall experience. They started charging for every little extra, including lemon wedges and extra sauce. This nickel-and-diming adds to the frustration of an already disappointing visit. I sincerely hope the owners take notice and make some changes, because this once-great restaurant is rapidly losing its loyal customers.
