I generally accept that cheap conveyor belt sushi is not going to be the best quality. I go into these types of places without particularly high expectations, so it's always extra disappointing when a place still doesn't rise to the medium-low bar I've set. Unfortunately, in a town with a lot of good sushi (and even a few other better conveyor belt places), this place falls flat. I was disappointed with the fish quality: the tuna tasted wrong and was freezer burned around the edges. Stuff on the belt with avocado on top was still circulating well after it turned brown. And the menu didn't offer enough variety to avoid the questionable ingredients. It's a cheap meal, but you get what you pay for. If you stick to cooked rolls and keep your expectations low, you might have an okay time, but I know I won't be back. read more

We always love to try things that are unique. We found this sushi place that your food for the most part is sent out on a conveyor belt. You do have the option of ordering, regular or special roles that they will bring to the table separately, however , most things come around on the conveyor belt covered in a cloche. It was later in the evening, so we had most of the restaurant to ourselves. So for us, we ended up having to ask them to make up certain things like you read seaweed salad to put on a conveyor belt for us. We totally understood this because being that it was late and there weren't very many customers. We understand that they wouldn't want to over prep food that may not be used and go to waste. Thankfully, they were extremely pleasant about creating anything that we asked for it is generally sent out on the belt. Came here to celebrate a birthday and this is a place she used to enjoy more when she lived closer. She seemed very happy and her experience was what she expected. We were just going to get whatever was on the track rather than ordering anything special. Not really a ton of variety and one dish was not cold like it should've been. Otherwise it was fine, nothing exceptional but still pretty decent. No one really came by to check on us though which was odd since they didn't know we didn't want to order something, plus we had drinks and I do expect people to check in on refills. They came by when it looked like we were finishing up to give us our bill. We finished everything and were just talking but they kept coming around lingering, which felt uncomfortable. Seemed more like they were casing us like they didn't think we'd pay or were going to eat more after they gave us our tab. No offense, but look at us, there's nothing that says we don't pay - not our look or our actions. I guess when they hand that bill they expect you to hop right up and pay. Sorry we thought we could finish our beverages and food first. Can't say I'd ever return here but if you're in the area I wouldn't say you needed to avoid them either. read more

This was my first time at SO. The place is quaint and welcoming. The staff were nice and accommodating. The food was fresh and tasty overall. Our table didn't accidentally receive a delivered food order that was intended for another table and we still were charged for it... I wasn't impressed by that. Parking is available on the street and there's no lot. I like that pricing is transparent and mostly easy to decipher based on the plate color. The fish tank is a nice perk and the rotating belt of sushi was constant entertainment! Sushi Ohana is close to my home. I went there quite a few times and each time was an experience of total disrespect and humiliation from the staff. In particular, one of the sushi chefs, and a male waiter. Wende H., in his review, had the same experience, and told it much better than I can. Except for the fact that I am a 71 year old caucasian male, he told my story completely. We had the very same experience. Please, there are soo many great sushi places within a block or two: Koji Osakaya, Bluefin, and Yosu Sushi all come to mind. Their sushi is wonderful and the staff are very warm and inviting. The only thing that Ohana has is a conveyor belt. Everything else is average to below average. The Lloyd District is a wonderful place and we deserve better than a "one trick pony" i.e. conveyor belt, with average to below average sushi, and rude and disrespectful cooks and waiters. Our reliable sushi spot! Sushi Ohana is a small sushi restaurant on Broadway right next to Pastini. Service is usually always fast unless there's a wait but they're good at paying attention to who's coming in the door and welcoming them. My favorite roll from here is the dragon roll, they usually always have it on the conveyer belt but it is a popular one so If they don't have it you can always request some to be made! I love that this location is always very speedy and friendly, it's helpful for when I'm in a rush but want some good fresh sushi. read more

While I was in Portland, I was looking for a quick bite before heading home to my brother's. My palate was looking for sushi and one of my favourite place to go was in Cancouver WA and I definitely didn't want to drive all the way up there. So I searched fir the nearest sushi place and honestly it was overwhelming since I was in downtown PDX and the list was too long to look. I decided to check the first three and decided on the closest one, you guessed right! I enjoyed my time and loved the hefty serving. It satisfied my sushi craving for sure. A Deeply Disappointing and Repeated Experience with Discrimination I'm Black, originally from East Africa, and have lived in beautiful Oregon since 2018. While I've always hoped to avoid racism, my repeated experiences at Ohana Sushi have been deeply upsetting. Ohana is close to my apartment and a regular hangout spot near Peet's Coffee. The first time I sensed something was off was a few years ago -- subtle but unmistakable. I was alone and tried to rationalize it as a long day for the staff. The second time, I went with a friend (also East African), and we were treated with blatant disrespect by the same two staff members -- a man and a woman. It felt very clear it was due to our accents and skin color. My friend even addressed it directly. After that, I stopped going for a long time. Post-COVID, I returned a few times and didn't see the same staff. I was treated well and hoped the past was behind me. But in 2024, I unfortunately encountered them again -- and once again, I experienced cold, unwelcoming behavior. Whispering behind me in another language, laughing while looking at me -- the message was clear, even if not verbal. But what happened on Memorial Day 2025 was the last straw. Craving sushi, I considered other spots, but they were closed. Against my gut feeling, I walked into Ohana -- and saw the same male staff member. I tried to avoid him, but he approached to take my order. I asked for water and some ginger. Instead of simply helping, he gave me a long, uncomfortable stare and pressed me repeatedly to order more. When I said I was fine, he muttered something in Japanese and then asked why I still come to the restaurant -- a statement that felt like a clear dismissal of my presence. I stood up feeling deeply unwelcome and angry. None of the other staff intervened or showed any concern. I've also noticed how African American customers are treated there -- especially if they're alone or not accompanied by someone white. It's 2025 -- and no one should have to feel this way. Needless to say, I will not be returning. But I'm sharing this review because staying silent only protects those who think this behavior is acceptable. We all deserve dignity and respect -- regardless of where we come from or what we look like. read more

The menu was pretty good, and the conveyer belt selections met most of my hankerings for some sushi in Portland after not having been here for almost a year and a half. Salmon slices were superbly generous on the rice and salmon nigiri pieces on the conveyer belt. I enjoyed a cup of miso soup as well between the selections off the conveyer belt and the pieces I ordered off the menu. I checked out and paid very quickly, but the wait was over ten minutes for a dining party of just myself. Looking forward to coming back here again. Ohana is amazing at what it is: A no-frills budget friendly sushi conveyer belt and take out staple. I think we have eaten here 15+ times in the past year, and every time we want to branch out and eat elsewhere, we always return to this place. It's cheap, the fish is solid for the price, and the service is easy/quick. This is not the place to take a sushi snob or a high-maintenance friend. This is the place to go when you are starving with a hankering for salmon nigiri or a spicy tuna roll and you don't want to spend $50+ per person to walk away still a little hungry. It's good for solos or couples because everything is 2 pieces of nigiri or a 4 piece half roll so you can get a large variety without a large group. You can show up here in sweat pants, sweaty after gym class, or on a quick lunch break. You will eat until you are convinced you could enter a competitive eating championship, and win, and then you still would have only probably spent $30 a person (maybe not even). It's made sushi an affordable weekly reality, and I'm so happy about it. Don't expect 5 star service, but you can also order whatever you want to order off the regular menu and they will bring it. Gave this sushi track place a try before a hockey game as i knew it would be quick and our son requested sushi. Happily, it was as good as the other reviews state, and we enjoyed our dinner and were pleased to add another track sushi place to our roster. Happy hour is the way to go if you have a big appetite or hungry teen. Plates were $2.20 which is a nice savings off the $3.50 black plates, which had the best rolls. We thought the salmon was fresh and tasty. Rolls were good-sized and the chefs kept the track full. It was just okay ... staff was friendly, there was no wait at lunch time on a Monday, but the food itself was just okay. No tickets at the table to make special order for special rolls or menu items. The sushi belt was full, and kept full, with a variety of plates but there is no labels (and a lot of it looks similar) which kept us looking at each plate to be sure we were grabbing the correct one. Plates were $2 (and some change) each. Some parking nearby - 1 hour street parking in front. It's a decent place for a quick bite but I doubt I'll be back ... just not for me. read more

There are four sushi restaurants in a 3 block radius, two are super expensive, another has a conveyor belt also but the sushi is meh. Sushi Ohana crushes it every time. They kept up with take out orders throughout the dark times, and are back up and running per usual. Sometimes they're super busy and catching a server to throw down a custom roll can be tough, so if you're in a hurry, rock the excellent sush on the belt. Try the onion topped salmon nigiri - it will rejuvenate the rest of your day. Unless you don't like salmon, in which case, you might want to get that checked out as that's just tragic. Almost all of the rolls at places like this use fish that has been macerated into a baby food consistency and covered with so much spicy mayo that you can't enjoy what once was a fish. Some of the rolls have been on that merry-go-round for a while. When the avocado goes brown it's time to get off that conveyor... We counted the plates and used our calculator to know what the bill would be but they overcharged us anyway. So in review; baby food fish, old 'cado, and added a plate to the bill. Consistently fantastic sushi every time we go here! It's one of the few buffet-style sushi places here in Portland and dishes are made super fresh so there's no stale-dishes on their conveyor belt. My son and I have eaten here about a dozen times in the past here, and every single time has been impressive, no disappointing things to mention here. Awful last dining experience in Portland, Oregon. After having a delicious donut from the famous Voodoo donut we came here for their lunch which was served conveyor belt. All of the sushi was awful - I couldn't even get myself to like the nigiri which I normally find to be decent if I stick to the classics like salmon and tuna. The rolls were made with rice so tightly packed it was texturally off. The fish inside (I tried a few) like spicy tuna and a few of the fried rolls were bland, didn't taste fresh and grinded into a weird texture. Not only was all the raw fish extra fishy - the rice was also just poorly made. Mushy and tasted almost of no vinegar. There was also such a lack of variety spinning on the conveyor belt. They had the same 5-6 items in bulk and nobody was taking them so there was no space for the chefs to put on any more plates. Also their happy hour is weird - from 3-5 all plates are 2 dollars but there are a ton of green plates that are originally 1.35 that they were charging at $2! That makes no sense!! Overall it was a disappointing way to finish off my food packed road trip. I highly recommend you avoid this place - I left wondering if I was going to have food poisoning. read more

We went on a Friday night! Got right in! Sat up at the conveyor belt. Nice thing is they have high chairs that are high enough to sit up at the conveyor as well. Attentive staff. The roll selection coming thru was amazing!! A lot of fresh tuna! If they didn't have something you wanted they can whip it up for you in a minute. We left full! For three of us it was around $50 which I think is a great deal for fresh sushi in the city. We will return here again! So glad they are doing conveyor belt sushi again since covid. Went at around 7pm on a Saturday night and the place was popping. Yet somehow there was no chefs making new sushi. Was excited to enjoy some sushi conveyor belt style, but the same 5 sushi dishes all filled with mayonnaise continued revolving around the entire time we were there. The few that were eaten were very subpar. If you have a busy restaurant with a conveyor belt, I cannot imagine why you wouldn't be making new sushi to add to it.
