Came here to celebrate a birthday and this is a place she used to enjoy more when she lived closer. She seemed very happy and her experience was what she expected. We were just going to get whatever was on the track rather than ordering anything special. Not really a ton of variety and one dish was not cold like it should've been. Otherwise it was fine, nothing exceptional but still pretty decent. No one really came by to check on us though which was odd since they didn't know we didn't want to order something, plus we had drinks and I do expect people to check in on refills. They came by when it looked like we were finishing up to give us our bill. We finished everything and were just talking but they kept coming around lingering, which felt uncomfortable. Seemed more like they were casing us like they didn't think we'd pay or were going to eat more after they gave us our tab. No offense, but look at us, there's nothing that says we don't pay - not our look or our actions. I guess when they hand that bill they expect you to hop right up and pay. Sorry we thought we could finish our beverages and food first. Can't say I'd ever return here but if you're in the area I wouldn't say you needed to avoid them either.

This was my first time at SO. The place is quaint and welcoming. The staff were nice and accommodating. The food was fresh and tasty overall. Our table didn't accidentally receive a delivered food order that was intended for another table and we still were charged for it... I wasn't impressed by that. Parking is available on the street and there's no lot. I like that pricing is transparent and mostly easy to decipher based on the plate color. The fish tank is a nice perk and the rotating belt of sushi was constant entertainment! It was fairly easy to grab what was available on the belt or order off the menu... definitely check it out if you need sushi in NE!

Good conveyor belt sushi, the service was impeccable, sushi just kept coming! no, they were attentive clearing the bar and keeping my water filled, nice and clean too. Gets really busy during Happy Hour, $3.25 for any plate, but worth it. Go!

It's great for quick dinner, the price is very reasonable, but not great quality. Service was quick and great as well. Sashimi was not great, sushi rolls were very average. Miso soup was very salty. Jean salad was good. Mo hi desert was average as well.

The menu was pretty good, and the conveyer belt selections met most of my hankerings for some sushi in Portland after not having been here for almost a year and a half. Salmon slices were superbly generous on the rice and salmon nigiri pieces on the conveyer belt. I enjoyed a cup of miso soup as well between the selections off the conveyer belt and the pieces I ordered off the menu. I checked out and paid very quickly, but the wait was over ten minutes for a dining party of just myself. Looking forward to coming back here again. The color coding of the plates' pricing was really clear and visible with the prices and plate colors displayed on the wall.

Quick place to grab some sushi and other dishes. The host is friendly and will sit you down quick. You can choose items from the conveyor belt or order some special items. I ordered the chicken hibachi and my friends picked some items out from the belt.

Gave this sushi track place a try before a hockey game as i knew it would be quick and our son requested sushi. Happily, it was as good as the other reviews state, and we enjoyed our dinner and were pleased to add another track sushi place to our roster. Happy hour is the way to go if you have a big appetite or hungry teen. Plates were $2.20 which is a nice savings off the $3.50 black plates, which had the best rolls. We thought the salmon was fresh and tasty. Rolls were good-sized and the chefs kept the track full. They'll make you anything you don't see on the track; I had them make me a tuna poke plate and it was great! Street parking or there's a pay lot next door. We'll be back! Great to have another pre-game option not too far from Moda.

Not bad for lunchtime sushi conveyer belt place. 4 tiers of pricing (by color of plate), $2.55 - $4.95. Solid for quick and easy. Crisp Sapporo beer makes a nice complement! We had seaweed salad, Inaru, octopus, unagi, fried shrimp.

    Waiting patiently for a roll

Aspen greets me like an old friend, a happy welcome into an expansive, ethereal space that feels more like LA than (perennially in the 90s) Portland. Low lounge & hi-top tables surround an open-air kitchen - transparency in the atmosphere as well as their "nose-to-tail" cooking techniques. The bar is long and dotted with glowing agate votives, vines extending down over a broad selection of booze (whisky & bourbon by style, including Japanese). One menu offers cheeky cocktails, mocktails, and a wide variety of Willamette bottles + a broad selection of European & South American wines. Another menu presents Cold dishes/RAW bar/Small Plates & Larger (sharing recommended). First course is a bluefin TUNA SASHIMI (butchered in-house with absolute precision) alongside a Serrano black sugar tamari (RIDICULOUS blend of salty/umami/spicy/sweet and smartly balanced by THICK-cut servings of tuna & chutoro (3x3). The fresh fish shines, as does explosive flavor in the sauce. Brilliant, bravo! Second, bartender recommends a house-favorite DUMPLING - this is one like never before, blending Linguiça (a Portuguese sausage), leeks, and cabbage that has a familiar texture within tissue-thin rice dumplings, but completely original umami, especially paired with the Japanese curry. It's wholesome and comforting, not too filling, and entirely new. THIRD if I MAE (pronunciation, questionable) - LAMB SPARE RIBS in a heaping portion with sweet/spicy tamarind sticky sauce that's barely reminiscent of BBQ, a perfect counter-balance to fatty, slightly gamey lamb. It's the cilantro herb salad on top & green olive tapenade that make it sing - textures and flavors are exotic, playful, herbal & funky (in a good way) all at once. Whether you're seeking a hot date night, a special staycation (right here in the Historic Arts District), or hosting a board meeting, there is space and plenty of taste for all, with a refinement in technique characteristic of larger cities. A sweet and savory reminder that family is a state of mind, and we're all connected for better or worse.

The décor adds a playful charm without being distracting, creating a fun atmosphere to savor such high-quality food. My usual order * Uni * Ikura * Amaebi (sweet shrimp head fried, tail raw) I usually request no sauce but forgot this time. Even so, the sauce offered a soft, vibrant complement to the raw tail, though I ended up taking most of it off. Shredded daikon also pictured, a staple. Tried this visit * Crispy Rice Tuna I always like to try one item unique to each restaurant, and this was it. The rice was perfectly crisp on the outside yet still fluffy inside, topped with a generous portion of seasoned tuna. One of the coolest surprises was finding out they use fresh Oregon Coast wasabi, grated to order. Such a unique and local touch. The ambiance was beautiful, cozy, and intimate.
