    Pot stickers

Hey there party people Trying to beat the heat at home so we headed to Halfmoon Bay. Decided to satisfy Hubby's Craving for Sushi. We picked a great place called Sushi on Main Street. It had a great Kyoto Vibe with a moody interior that transported you to Japan. Exceptionally clean even had little bottles of Purell on each table. I am not a fish person so I'm all about the pot stickers and edamame. The Pot stickers were generously filled with very tasty pork. You could get chicken, beef or shrimp as well. Hubby got the "Lady Gaga" and "Dragon" rolls. They were both delicious according to Hubby. He was super impressed with the Gaga roll. I went the ala carte route. Getting a bowl rice, green salad and Ginger Chicken appetizer. It made for the perfect lunch. The ginger sauce on the chicken was super thick almost like a teriyaki but with this amazing ginger tang. This place is a hidden gem and a must stop weather you like sushi or not you'll find something to love Be kind to one another

This restaurant was ok. Service was really good but the place was empty, which should have been a clue on a Saturday. It's a very pretty and very quiet restaurant but the food was mediocre. My niece said the food was a bit fishy and the other said the chicken Teriyaki was flavorless and sauce tasted a bit burnt. Have tto admit their play list was very good!

My partner and I first stumbled upon this charming sushi spot during a visit to Half Moon Bay about a year ago, and we decided to revisit tonight. Just like last time, we came in the evening and ended up being the first diners there--it almost felt like we were recreating the same date! This is a solid sushi restaurant with exceptionally kind service. One standout feature is the wide variety of vegetarian sushi options, which is pretty rare to find. The interior is cozy and intimate, with beautiful carvings that add to the atmosphere. It's the perfect spot for a relaxed date night. And the prices are reasonable as well. I do recommend this restaurant, if you're in the area and looking for good sushi with a welcoming vibe!

After spending a couple of hours beachcombing nearby, I decided to take a stroll downtown which amounted to about three blocks on Main Street. I was noticing that a lot of restaurants appear to stick around in Half Moon Bay including this sushi restaurant which has been in the same spot for 35 years. The only thing they've changed is a preposition they added to their name. It used to be called 'Sushi Main Street'. Now it's 'Sushi on Main Street'. I guess somebody pulled out their Strunk & White book. I only just recently tried it for the first time. Staring at their menu outside, I noticed they offer more of a fusion bent to their menu with items like bacon shiitake salad and Oaxaca Mexico rolls. Sticking with the basics with my takeout order, I went for the $20 Chirashi Don, which was a robust selection of fresh sashimi over rice with enough variety to satisfy (photo: https://bit.ly/3zbCqqj). On the other hand, the $13.50 Hamachi Kama was overcooked and even offered an unwelcome charred crustiness (photo: https://bit.ly/3qt4Kk0). Oh well, there are worse things in life than crusty yellowtail. Now give me a minute to think of something. FOOD - 3.5 stars...chirashi was fine but the kama was a bomba...and not in a good way AMBIANCE - 4 stars...nice interior that appears to attract plenty of regulars SERVICE - 3.5 stars...nice enough, a bit on the slow side TOTAL - 4 stars...glad they found their preposition RELATED - Exploring the Pacific side of the peninsula? I really wish I had read the Yelp review before dining here. Service was outstanding, even though I don't like when people refill my alcoholic drinks! (Let me drink at my own pace, I see right through the scheme of boozing up patrons). We ordered the steamed clams, DONT DO IT, there was absolutely no clam meat in there! What the heck happened? Then the sushi came, the Lady Gaga and the Sexy Me-- first of all, sushi is supposed to be QUALITY sushi grade fish... this was NOT. You're supposed to also be able to fit a piece of sushi in your mouth with one bite--- nope, they pack these sushi rolls hearty! Also had some temakis-- the shrimp tempura was the scrawniest thing and the nori was old and damp. I don't know, I don't usually write bad reviews but I can't pretend with this one despite the good service.

Bad cuts. It looked like there was anisakis parasite on the chef special sashimi platter. One rule to live by: never get sushi in a tourist town.

I was here pre-pandemic and loved the place. They have such unique interior and tables, but when I was here just recently, I was pretty disappointed. The food was not very good. We had the rainbow roll which was good but just average. On one of the pieces, the fish was missing which is a bummer given a total of 8 pieces and the price. The Seafood Nabeyaki udon was very tasty but just a small portion for the price. The ambiance for lunch was less nice than in the evening. There weren't many guests, pretty quiet and a little but uncomfortable. I liked that they had hand sanitizer on the table. Service was friendly and fast.

Yesterday, We went to Half moon Bay for the Pumpkin Festival. After the Parade on the Main Street we decided to eat sushi at the Sushi on Main Street Ordered the Shrimp stuffed mushrooms for appetizer. Salmon skin roll, Dragon roll, Scallop Lover for Main dishes and Banana for dessert. The Dragon roll and scallop lover were delicious and good portions 4* /5. But the shrimp stuffed mushrooms was small and the sauce salty 3*/5. The Salmon skin roll was not good just the rice and a little bit salmon skin. I didn't like it. Dessert was Banana tempura just OK 3*/5 but I prefer it with vanilla ice cream better than the stuffed in the dish ( some thing like the condensed milk mixed with a little bit cream? ) The staff was friendly and attentive to Us.! Overall We had a great time to enjoy the Pumpkin festival in HMB and we got the good lunch at Sushi on Main Street

Hello, this Sushi restaurant should have between 4-5 stars. We had the cabbage salad, sexy me roll and the green dragon. Everything was super fresh ( very picky with fresh sushi) and impressively prepared. Wish I could attach a pictire. The ambiance couldn't be any nicer. I felt like I was in Indonesia with all the authentic pieces throughout. Try it out if you visit Half Moon Bay!

Their $35 sashimi assortment. Inedible. Comprised of the most gristly parts of the fish that reputable places throw away.

In the Covid world we now live in, quality should be even more important for struggling businesses. Sushi on Main is one of those places that should just close its doors and give up. Expensive, poor quality and assembled by amateurs who shouldn't be hired at a McDonald's, let alone a sushi restaurant. Their $35 sashimi platter is an insult to any as stupid as myself who orders it. It's an assortment of tiny, inedible scraps of the worst parts of the fish, sliced by someone who is either legally blind or afflicted with severe Parkinson's Disease. Everything else from the rolls to the teriyaki to the kastu-don are likewise inedible. $309 order. $41 tip. And this is what you get? The kids couldn't stomach their sad excuse for teriyaki. The rolls were made with less care than a Taco Bell Burrito. This place is horrific and I understand that labor and rent are expensive. But some places really do deserve to die and close their doors permanently.

I typically avoid these coastal restaurants that cater to a lot of tourists which can often compromise quality and service. Today everything was almost spot on. It was a perfect, beautiful, coastal day. Although the restaurant was very busy, we were seated almost immediately at table with a spectacular ocean view. Our server Juan couldn't have been more personable and attentive. He was right on time from our first cocktail to the delivery of the check. Juan checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed and were content. Our orders were delivered promptly by multiple servers who were all proficient and friendly. The oysters we ordered were served cold and fresh with all the appropriate condiments. The seafood chowder was very good but me, personally, a thick, creamy, soup base is not my preference. Originally, we really wanted to get fish & chips at Barbra's Fishtrap but predictably, on a perfect weather holiday weekend, the line was intimidatingly long. Nevertheless, the Miramar fish & chips did not disappoint! Today, I rate our overall experience as excellent. I hope anyone choosing this establishment will enjoy a similar visit.

She said she will loan it to us as a joke because she says it's "My favorite restaurant." We've been coming here for very special occasions, like our anniversary or birthdays. My mom's name is Frances and one time on her birthday we came. It was one of the waitresses birthday too 8/22. We enjoyed the food so much we spoke with Francisco the chef. He was very nice! We even come here before big trips when we fly out of SF airport. To start our vacation right. We had dinner here in Friday 9/11/26 as we came into town to celebrate my husband's birthday and we stayed two nights. On Friday we loved the food, the service and our waiter Luis was so good, fun and an all around excellent waiter. I even took a photo. I got the grilled salmon and instead of rice I got fries. I'm gluten free for an allergy, NOT preference. Fries are the one thing I can eat. In fact the reason I love your restaurant so much is I can have a dessert here that is gluten free, dairy free. Every time I come I have that flourless cake. This is the only restaurant that offers a dessert that I can have. Every time we come it's usually 4-5 stars. We went there again on Sat. Our waitress, Maria was so nice and helpful. The fries today were different and are obviously dipped in flour. I asked Maria can I get the fries that I had just last night? She said that's the only fries they have. I asked to talk to the manager and Salvador came up to our table, no smile, no apology. He was rude and said these are the only fries they have. He was obviously bothered by having to come over. Maria was very apologetic and very sweet (though it was not her doing) and offered a baked potato and I said yes. Then she came back and apologized again they are not available until after 3. Why do you RUIN perfectly good fries with gluten that some people are allergic to? Fries are awesome all by themselves. No need to overdue it by dipping them in gluten. Why do you ruin the one thing that I can usually count on? GET REGULAR FRIES. damn. Is it the same owner as before? We like to go to hindquarter restaurant in our native Santa Cruz and was there for my birthday two years ago. My best friend Kim knew the owner as she is in the restaurant business. He was one of the owners of Miramar beach restaurant and he was wearing the shirt from Miramar. I said I LOVE THAT RESTAURANT! And he gave me the shirt off his back literally then and there. Now that's above and beyond! So sweet. Salvador ~ if you're so unhappy (seems very unhappy) then move on. Give the management job to someone who is kind and proud of where their work. Someone who cares. I was extremely disappointed today at the fries, then at how they treated my complaint. They did give us a 10% discount, however I'm still very disappointed.
