    Nigiri at Sushi One
    Leanh E.

Hungry for sushi but didn't have time to drive to my favorite spot. They have a lunch special for $14.95 here for a roll, appetizer and nigiri. When I arrived, decided instead to have the AYCE. First I ordered the mussels and they have a limit on the number you can order. The mussels were super tiny, the size of an almond, which is something different than I have experience at other restaurants. It was good, but definitely could eat much more. I then proceeded to order the nigiri. The fish was good except for the tuna which had a weird texture. One thing I noticed was that the rice was overcooked like the cheap sushi that you get sometimes in the refrigerator section of grocery store. I found the meal to be just ok. Not sure if I would visit again.

We're visiting from out of town California, to be exact and had a craving for sushi when we found this place. They had a good variety of sushi rolls, and the restaurant was empty when we arrived. My family noticed the all-you-can-eat option at the top of the menu, so I asked the waiter for more details. Unfortunately, he seemed annoyed, even after I explained it was our first time there. Despite that, we decided to try the all-you-can-eat option and placed a fairly large first order. That's when things started to go wrong. We waited 30 minutes for our appetizers and only received two rolls. Eventually, I had to get up to ask where our food was because my two kids were starving. By then, the restaurant had filled up, and I overheard an employee say they were short-staffed, which I could understand. However, it was frustrating to watch other tables even those seated after us getting their food promptly and receiving attention from the staff, while we were overlooked. After speaking to four different staff members, we finally got all our food just 10 minutes before closing, once the restaurant was empty. I shared my concern with the waiter because it felt like my family was treated unfairly. Waiting hours for food while my kids went hungry was a terrible experience. Although the waiter apologized, the overall experience was disappointing, and I wouldn't return or recommend this place to anyone visiting Nevada.

All you can eat sushi here was amazing! Customer service especially the sushi chefs they were friendly greeting from the moment you came in to when you left. You are able to order 3 rounds of appetizers and 3 rounds of sushi at first I was like that's it but once you order 1st round your so full my kids love sushi and wanted to try so many that the second round we barely ordered any. If you get to 3 rounds wow you'd be stuff. The sushi one roll was my favorite and the salmon skin salad was delicious and the upside down tempura. So many names I can't remember but those 3 are a must try.

This place used to be RickShaw, and I'm happy to see that some of the familiar faces are still here and that's always a good sign. I'm glad they stayed. The food is still good, just like I remember, and the service remains solid. The ambiance hasn't changed much either, which gives it a nice sense of continuity. It feels like the good parts stuck around, and I appreciate that.

My family and I just happen to be on this side of town today and decided to stop in for some all you can eat! The quality of the fish was really fresh! We were all pleased with everything we ate here today. The service was speedy and friendly. It's really great having more sushi options in town! My only negative was that their restroom had a sewer type smell? Which I used after our meal. It didn't take away from how good the food was. I just wanted to mention it so maybe it won't be this way next time.

Well, my husband and I came into Sushi One today and it wasn't the Sushi One that I know and love generally. Today, we had sat at the bar and felt rushed to order an appetizer. I have never been to a restaurant where the employees micromanage the customers. So to make a long story short. The sushi chef we had at the bar took what seemed forever to make a long roll. He didn't wrap the sushi enough to stay together. Every time I took a bite the roll kept falling apart. I wasnt impressed with the service today. I won't come back in unless Kenny is there. By the way, if a restaurant is going to provide food service, please have all of your employees wear hair restraints. Yes, I did have a hair in my food!

6/18/2023- Father's Day Dinner for two.. only had lunch before.: Expected to be crowded, and it was.. We were seated in a cramped, small table.. I had positive thoughts at first.. and was glad they offered hamachi Kama with dinner.. Service could of been more attentive.. Appetizers- decent-the salmon skin salad was good, but too many jalapeños.. the salmon skin should of been diced smaller.. I've never seen an order sheet with three rounds ..lol.. My order sheet did have the nigiri maguro-but it never arrived.. Ordered the alligator roll, and unagi.. The salmon skin hand roll was really terrible.. large pieces of hard salmon skin wrapped in the middle-and no flavor.. Background music of the 80's was not appealing-nor was the screaming toddler -constantly crying .. Think we will just stay with our regular sushi place across the street..

I will let the pictures speak for themselves. This place is our favorite, we have been coming for over 12 years and it's amazing every single time.

Sushi One is hidden right in plain sight. It's location is on Virginia St., just north of 395/580 when it crosses Virginia St. on the east side in the shopping center is with Big 5. They have a nice lunch special that won't put you into a sushi coma. As of February, 2024 it is $14.95 and it comes with one roll, 2 pcs of nigiri, and one appetizer. The third roll, we requested since an additional roll is $5.50. It was fresh and good quality. Perfect for lunch and you won't have to waddle back to your office. You can see this and other specials they have on their website. https://www.foodbooking.com/ordering/restaurant/menu?restaurant_uid=5835c5ef-0263-439a-8e74-6750e648f518 My wife and I arrived about half past 11:00 AM. They still were not busy which made it a wonderful dining experience. We were given A1 treatment. A small advantage when arriving so early. The wasabi, for me, a determining factor of how fresh and food turnover the restaurant is. If the wasabi burns through you sinus and you can smell the pine coming off Mt. Rose, you know it's fresh! Sushi One, is that fresh. The fish was fresh, not slippery nor was there any fishy odor. Atmosphere was good. I would say, Reno traditional. Nothing was broke or of need of repair. The only thing I could spot was the restroom. The doorknob on the men's room was loose, but it still did it's job. The bottom of the commode was either dirty or there may have been crack. None of that impeded its performance. I know, it sounds weird that I would review the restrooms, but it does have impact on the restaurant being reviewed. There was no graffiti anywhere. I was pleased about that. There is plenty of parking Will I go back for another performance? Yes, both I and my wife enjoyed it.

Parking is fairly easy, with plenty of street spaces nearby, and an easy walk if you're already hanging around the neighborhood. The service was friendly and fairly prompt, and even for a weekday night the place was bustling, leading to a bit of a backup. Cool vibes all around, and it's neat to sit at the bar and watch the chefs do their thing. Though it does mean this is a little bit on the noisy side. Look at the menu, and there are tons of tempting options. As the name suggests, their specialty here is small plate off the grill or out fo the fryer. But they do serve really good-looking ramen, too, which I will make not to try next time I swing by. I at first went with a quick bite of grilled chicken thighs, which were just amazing! They were juicy, eprfectly seared, with some grilled green onions and an amazing sweet soy sauce. I also went with the yakionigiri, which are balls of rice that are grilled, brushed with sauce, and topped with a sort of mango slaw. A bit uncommon, but wow, these were also just so delicious! Also had a glass of sake, though they have a full bar should you want some other sort of beverage. Prices here are, I feel, a little on the higher end for small plates. However, I think it is definitely worth coming and trying this place out at least once or twice, just to expereince some of the good food. I'm sorry it took me so long to finally step through the doors, but I am certain I will be back again to try more of what's on the menu.

The menu didn't feel very varied--it was mostly the same types of rolls (crab mostly) with different sauces. That may just be personal preference, since I tend to like shrimp rolls (either cooked or uncooked). When we arrived, we were seated in the far right corner. There were other tables nearby, but because we were a large group, it took a while for anyone to take our drink orders. We even had two separate servers come by to ask for drinks. Once we ordered sushi, that's where things really went downhill. We were split across the tables (four people per table), and although we placed our orders at the same time, half of our group didn't receive their sushi until about 30 minutes after the other part of us. It felt like the order process wasn't managed well. Customer service was also inconsistent. We had to keep asking for items we never received, like refills, and we didn't get straws. Even though the restaurant was busy, I've been to other sushi places on busy nights and never experienced service this slow. The only thing I truly liked was the appetizers. The beef teriyaki was the best thing I had--really tasty. I'd recommend that, but only if you have a lot of time to spare, because the wait for food and follow-ups was a struggle. When we tried to order dessert, it took so long for someone to come back that a few people ended up giving up and not getting dessert at all. Overall, customer service took far too long, and the sushi was just OK--not especially flavorful or memorable for me. The rolls tasted pretty similar, and I don't think I'll be returning.

It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. So let's get the cons out of the way first. My son and I sat at the bar, and on the big screen against the wall, CNN FAKE NEWS was playing. Personally irritating, and I don't think they should be showing news shows from any side at a restaurant. We were in during lunch hours, and towards the end of our visit we were the last party there. That being said, clearing out our empty plates and getting refills wasn't very expeditious. I sat probably for about 15 minutes with an empty soda cup. I would understand if it was busy and at night. Disappointingly, lunch has its own separate menu, and you can't order dinner rolls for the lunch price, like you can at Ohana, Hinoki and other places I've been to and frequented. Now that, that's out of the way let's get to the rest of the review. I'm guessing the owners, we're super nice. We were greeted right as we walked in the door and chose our seats. Victor was our sushi chef. Great guy, and turns out some great sushi. The next time I go I will be sure to sit with him, but the other two Cooks were nice also. The entire restaurant, especially the bar area was spotless! I can tell they all take pride in what they do. My sin and I ordered probably 65% of the lunch menu. The quail egg shooters, whcih we ordered about a dozen total were SUPER good, and served in a modified Oriental soup "spoon" instead of a shot glass. Sort of awkward to eat, but doable and tasty. My personal favorite (lunch) roll was the "Crazy Dream" roll. SO many different flavor profiles. They had unique takes on some of the nigiri and appetizers, like the 'butterfly' and the tempura Jalapeno opposed to other sushi joints. So all in all, it was good enough for me to go back and give the dinner menu a try.
