The sushi rolls ended up being a lot bigger than I expected at that price point. You are also given the classic miso soup and a side salad, which was a great addition to the lunch special. Our server was very attentive and the ambiance was nice. The only issue I had with the meal was the wasabi was not spicy AT ALL. This place is great for lunch. They have the best sushi with the best deal on this side that I've discovered and I've been working in the area for five years. They have a buy one get 1 50% off of specialty sushi rolls and a list of either two or three rolls deal. And let's be honest I don't know anyone who gets full of just one. But it's always very clean. There's always somewhere to sit. Particularly when I went I went on lunch. I was a little annoyed just because I arrive before another table of four and the waitress went to both of our tables but put their food in first so of course my sushi roll got made after all four of their orders so something that should've been quick turned into like a 15 minute wait. We especially like the Kani Salad, the Miso Soup, their tempura is light and their various rolls very good. The specialty rolls have been priced out of range; nonetheless, there is plenty of other yummy food. They used to have a one price all you can eat which was fabulous and I wish they would bring that back. I ordered the Saba, the Ika, the Toro, the spicy tuna, and the Unagi. My order cost $57. I got 6 pieces of nigiri sushi and 5 pieces of sashimi. The interior was very classy and while I did not stay they had protocols in place for Covid as well as hand sanitizer available and they wore masks when taking my order. There was an outdoor seating area, but it didn't look very comfortable overall. Sushi itself was very good. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The Unagi was fantastic. They did not add too much of the barbecue sauce to it it was more about the flavor and texture of the unagi itself. The Toro was on point and had a good mouth feel as well as a clean palette. The spicy tuna wasn't necessarily very spicy. The saga was fresh. The Ika had the perfect amount of give and it was fresh. The real question is would I go back? In fact, we were the only diners. Plenty of parking and plenty of seating. I ordered a miso soup ($2), Simba roll ($10) and avocado/asparagus roll ($5). Our orders came out quickly. The restaurant is very quaintly decorated, it's peaceful where you can just eat your sushi, dream about it, and be on your way. Our waiter was not the friendliest nor most attending, but there were other workers who'd walk by and fill our waters pretty often and such. I was grabbing lunch with my sister the other day and it was later in the afternoon, so the place was very calm and not crowded. ***LOCATION*** In the Lidl shopping center. Plenty of parking and easy to find! ***ATMOSPHERE*** The atmosphere is really nice. The decor makes it feel very upscale but the prices are very reasonable. The inside was calm with quiet music playing and overall really pleasant. ***BATHROOM*** Also very clean! ***STAFF*** Very friendly and attentive. Our waitress came to check on us a couple times but not too much to where it was every minute. She made sure our food was out quickly and that everything was correct. ***FOOD*** Really good! We split: vegetable fried rice, cucumber and avocado sushi and the veggie tempura roll. I was so glad to see so many vegetarian options. They had a whole section on the menu! My favorite was the cucumber avocado sushi and my sister prefered the tempura roll. We both were not huge fans of the rice surprisingly because it had a really strong mushroom taste. It was very overwhelming, and I have actually never had mushroom in my fried rice at similar restaurants. If you like mushroom you would like it, but we only like a little, but not enough to flavor the whole meal. It was still edible and I am sure most people would enjoy it, but we would probably just order more sushi next time vs the rice. ***PRICE*** I know the rice was about 10$ because they only have a full order, which was fine since we were splitting it. I ordered a teriyaki lunch combo and 3 sushi roll combo. On the menu, it clearly states that Teriyaki combo comes with shrimp tempura. It had a piece of shrimp and 1 piece of broccoli on as "assorted tempura: they advertised on a huge plate. Food 1/5: But as shown on the picture, I got an " ebi-fry" which is a breaded and deep fried shrimp. I complained to the server that it is NOT shrimp tempura, and he insisted , "it's tempura', trying to convince me that it is a real tempura. What an insult to a customer's knowledge and intelligence. Once again, I said , "it's not tempura, this is ebi-fry, breaded and deep fried shrimp." The the server said "Well, we call it tempura anyway.", rolling his eyes and just walked away from my table. No apologetic attitude, no nothing. Selling ebi-fry as a tempura is technically a fraud. They are serving something what they advertise on the menu. The gyoza was deep fried, probably they throw the frozen ones in a greasy hot oil. and chicken teriyaki was deep-fried in hot oil like Thai-restaurants do, and just poured some sauce over it. Like they stay true to their motto to cleaning after EVERY table is done. I would note that there isn't much social distancing between tables when they seat you. I was pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. For an AYCE, I wasn't expecting all that great of sushi/sashimi, but it was actually pretty good and fresh. DO pay attention to the $26.95 all you can eat disclosure that says you can only have 15 pieces of nigiri or sashimi. Anything beyond that you are going to pay. But you can have whatever salads you want, and several different appetizers, plus noodles, and hibachi and as many sushi rolls as you can fit in your tummy. Their spicy mayo was actually pretty good, too...a definite plus. Be careful not to over-order because they will charge you if they feel you have excessive food on your plate. And no take homes with the AYCE either. Kinda bummed about that, but I get it. My least favorite was surprisingly the roll that seemed to get a lot of attention on Yelp, the out of control roll. While the rice was fresh, I didn't really care for the smokiness that hits you with each bite. It was just okay, as were the baked mussels. But the sashimi was fine, and much better than I had anticipated. Avoid the house wine. Their house cab was just awful. Had to upgrade my next glass. Service was odd. I would swear they don't work on tips, because he was the most non-friendly waiter. He did not crack a smile, or even try to joke with us. And like many reviewers said, the service is slow. Decided to stop here since I was going to Lidl for some things. I sat in my car first to decide if they had anything I really wanted to order. Even though it has a sushi lunch special of buy one roll, get second 50% off, I look to see if they have other combinations or dishes. Chirashi lunch caught my eye. Lunch portion come with soup and salad and is cheaper than dinner menu. Anyways, I ordered chirashi and asked for 2 piece nigiri of UNAGI. I know I specified Unagi and clarified that it's eel. The miso soup came and then the chirashi and 2 pieces of TUNA nigiri. I let the waitress know I ordered unagi, not tuna. She said she heard tuna. Does unagi and tuna sound alike? So she took the tuna back to sushi chef. You could see he was questioning her while looking at me from across the dining room. I finally got the unagi nigiri. Not once did the waitress come back to check on me after she dropped off the nigiri. The rice in the chirashi did not taste quite like sushi rice but it had some flavor and wasn't just plain rice. The soy sauce was very salty, so it was probably regular soy sauce. I'm used to being served light soy automatically at other Japanese restaurants, so this was a surprise. After I was finished, another waitress took care of cashing me out. After I got home, I realized I was very thirsty. That is usually a sign for me that there was MSG. For chicken karaage, small portion. Also I found at Jinya Ramen and Umaido taste are better but Futo Buta in NC maybe the best so far. For calamari, i don't think I will order it again and nothing beats Carmine's Italian Restaurant at Time Square NY. For sushi, I had better. Unlike your typical sushi buffets like Nori Nori(not comparing), this buffet is made to order. Make sure you eat what you order or they will charge you. I wish they could make a smaller sushi roll as it comes out almost 6-7 pieces of sushi and thats a ton of rice that will fill you up. Their udon and miso soup is very tasty. What a bummer... the last time we came here they increased their dinner AYCE prices by a lot... The last time we were there it was $30 something per person for the AYCE. I'm sorry but I didn't feel the price point aligned right with the dishes here. Also, even though there's an All You Can Eat, they've capped/limited the amount of sashimi that one can order. They also removed some of their AYCE menu items that we enjoyed in the past such as their jalapeño yellowtail appetizer. If I could give no stars I would. My mom and I were there and for lunch the other day and the restaurant was empty. The lack of guests should have been a sign, but my husband and I had tried it once before and liked it. The one star that it earned is for atmosphere I guess. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Sadly they is where it ends. There are two types of bad restaurants, ones where the food is bad and one where the food literally makes you sick. This place combines the worst of both. It was both terrible and made us both sick; both of us were in bed with the runs all day. We both instantly knew why! Despite no one being there the sushi came out slow, agonizingly so. I counted 2 sushi chefs and 3 servers but only one chef did all the running assisted by one waiter. The other two stood in the back talking. Apparently the chef who did all the work disappeared for a reason he had to search the freezer for the oldest batch of previously frozen shrimp tempura that he could find and pull it out to use in our rolls. They did not bother to reheat it and the shrimp was hard as a rock. I know that it is hard to throw away food but If they want to stay in business they should never give into the temptation of serving cold old food.
