Cozy spot with incredible Sushi! We split the traditional southern Japanese pressed cake (don't remember the name but it's a current special) and the king of spider roll. We also had the green tea mochi for dessert and I had a great pour of Sauvy B. The young lady working the hostess and serving position was super friendly and is also the daughter of the chef - who was playing some great 80s hits. We will definitely be back! read more

Sushi very tasty! We always get just the mountain roll and dragon roll. They always great! 10/10! But the lady, not sure if she's the owner is 2/10! She is so rude ALL THE TIME when I place the order and pick up! Never ask if we need anything else just hangs up. One time I asked her a question about a price (cause they have a $24 eel roll that in my opinion is not worth it) and I could feel how she rolled her eyes (yes over the phone :) anyway I'm very close one time to tell her she NEEDS to be nicer if they want repeat customers. This is very good sushi. I have eaten sushi all over the world, including multiple trips to Japan. I also ate here when this place was called "Sushi Uchi". This is very good sushi. Reviewers that say the place has gone downhill since the ownership changed in 2023 - I disagree with. Environment: it was very quiet inside. The sushi chefs are very hardworking and reticent. Our server was attentive. Seating, however, is very limited. Even when we came around 7pm on Sunday night, the seats filled up pretty quickly. Food: portions were large, fresh and satisfying.we ordered many rolls as well as nigiri (Fatty Tuna MP was $14 for 2.... So worth it. Squid was a little disappointing. Salmon pieces were very large and satisfying). The menu was comprised of: cold/hot items + sushi alacarte. It would be nice to see set/combo meals (especially for foodies like me who love to eat!) This place used to be called Sushi Uchi, and it was the best sushi I've ever had in the US. Better than Vegas, better than New York for affordable prices. The old chef who retired must have had incredible relationships with fish markets/vendors because he landed the best fish I've ever tasted. Unfortunately, since the new management bought the place in 2023, it has become generic, lack luster, and overall Americanized. My husband and I had been eating at Sushi Uchi for every celebration or hard time when we needed to do something to cheer us up for the past 10 years. When we walked in for my husband's birthday in Fall 2023 and didn't see the original chef behind the counter, our hearts dropped. And when we ordered our usual and it was noticeably lower quality, thinner fish slices, Unagi thin and not warm. We were devastated. You will notice a difference between the old reviews before 2023 and the new ones. The new ownership should have created a new page when they changed the name. Sad to see such an incredible place lose its magic. read more

Review for a to go order. Had a good experience eating in the restaurant. Made a significant order early on a Friday night to go. Husband brought the order home and a roll was missing while one looked not so great. When I called customer service completely failed. The restaurant claimed I questioned that roll but didn't order. Interesting. But the best is they call this a baked scallop roll. Usually it comes with mayo and spices on top of a roll. If your in the mood for sushi and in the area, I recommend you give Sushi Uchi a try. It's a small establishment with a big impression. The staff is delightful and welcome new faces and greet returning customers with a warm embrace. I come here about once a week for my ease my sushi cravings. The sushi chef's definitely take pride in their work and you can tell with each bite. The sushi taste and smell fresh. I've ordered a little bit of everything but I believe in simple things, when done well, so I stick to my usual shrimp nigiri, Philadelphia roll and veggie roll with added cream cheese. If I order all 3 rolls my total is $28 not including tip and I'm pretty full after that. I recommend dining in if you have the time because why not. You know I love my Sunday night Sushi! Tried this neighborhood joint for the first time this past weekend with my fiancé. Service was friendly and prompt. Not sure why, but I really enjoyed marking our sushi order with the tiny pencil on the paper menu which has all the nigiri listed first, followed by the rolls. There is a separate laminated menu for appetizers and drinks. Everything we ordered was really delicious and the prices were very reasonable! Some of our favorites were the caterpillar roll and spicy yellowtail. Fiancé was a big fan of the love joy roll. We ordered an appetizer and 4 rolls- probably would've been fine with just 3 rolls as they were quite large. Will return soon! read more

Food was good but prices vs quantity is horrible. Specialty rolls are "normal" size but are ridiculously priced. Regular rolls (tuna, salmon, california, etc.) are reasonably priced ($9-$10) but are so small (never seen rolls this small) that they are less than 1/2 of any other Sushi place. Cooked food (Udon) was good. Would not recommend for a Sushi night out....you will leave unsatisfied and much lighter in the wallet. read more

Solid sushi. This place isn't big on ambiance, but if you're only here for the sushi (like I am) then this is worthy of an addition to your Atlanta sushi list. I thought the sushi here was pretty fresh and the service solid as well. My only downside here is the price of the sushi. Terrible terrible terrible. Came here and was greeted with a disgusting attitude by the waitress. Me and my husband ordered four rolls and an appetizer. We waited about 45 mins before we received our appetizer/ first sushi roll. A couple was then seated next to us and received their appetizer and sushi within 15 mins while we waited 45 MINUTES. All the other customers were you guessed it WHITE! and ofc were treated with much more respect then we were. Ended up not even getting our last two rolls and asked for the check, I then instantly got yelled at by the rude waitress saying "we already are in the process of making them" It's been an hour and some since we've been sitting here and NOW our food is just being made???? Solid place to get some sushi, cute ambiance, good service. First time here, and came to check it out after seeing fellow Yelper reviews. I thought the sushi was fresh, which is my number one priority. I did think the price point was a little high for the amount of sushi you get, though. This restaurant isn't very big, which makes it feel more intimate. Service was friendly, and with it not being very crowded, things moved pretty fast. We both started with an appetizer, our usual staples of ginger salad for me and miso soup for him. The ginger salad was pretty good. The romaine was crisp, and the dressing had good flavor. My boyfriend didn't love the miso, though. He didn't care for the taste, but both he and my daughter are pretty picky miso eaters. For dinner, we got a roll, and then shared a couple appetizers. The roll we got I think was the Vista roll, a spicy tuna with albacore and topped with kiwi. It was very pretty looking, and tasted good and fresh. I opted for the ahi tower, a tuna tartar mixed with sesame oil over snow crab/avocado salad, with a sushi rice foundation infused with wasabi sauce. I wish I had gotten a picture of this before it was deconstructed, because it was a lot prettier, but it tasted really good. My boyfriend got the sushi tacos, but they really weren't tacos at all. It was just some crispy rice with some tuna mix and sprouts topped with kiwi. They were a little too crunchy and hard on the bottom for me. I liked it okay, but wouldn't get it again. The tower was definitely the best thing I had that night. Oh, and their spicy mayo was on point. All in all, a good experience. Fresh fish, nice decor, good for a date night. I would rate Sushi Uchi 4/5. Sushi Uchi is a hidden spot located on the border of Johns Creek/Roswell/Peachtree Corners. It's situated in a shopping center that seems pretty empty. There is an ice cream place next door so that's pretty convenient for dessert purposes. Confusingly, their menu says "Sushi Wuchi"- not entirely sure what that is about. They primarily serve sushi but they do have a small selection of non-sushi items like chicken katsu, udon, and hibachi plates. The food is good, but not amazing. Our friends are frequent customers so they have invited us to go with them several times. They have a maximum of two servers depending on how busy they are, and wait times can be very long. The first time we went here in the winter of 2021, they actually completely ran out of rice part of the way through making our meals and we were told it would be at least a 30 minute wait for them to make some more. They bring out your food as it's made, so most of our party had already gotten at least some food and eaten it. I ended up only receiving half of what I ordered because of this, and our meals were not discounted in any way as an apology. Overall, I don't say no if my friends ask me to come eat here with them, but it's not a place that I would go to on my own. read more

I haven't had great/fresh tasting sushi since I was back home (San Francisco). The service was amazing, as it took little to no time to prepare my order and the staff was so friendly. It was hard to find bc my map app was not working correctly, but it's tucked in a business complex off Holcomb Bridge across the street from Kroger (near Barnwell). I don't recommend bringing a large group here, and 4 people might be more than enough. The place is tiny and intimate, with maybe enough room for 16 people total plus 4 at the bar. I loved their cushioned back bench seating. Ambiance was perfect and nobody was loud during our visit. I started with the miso and hot sake. The miso was bland, and had me worried. I didn't like it at all. The house sake was good. We had the tuna tower, which looked beautiful when it came. However, the waitress broke it down for us and mixed it together, which I thought was odd. I kind of wished she let us do it, plus I didn't get a picture of it put together. We both really enjoyed it though! Very fresh. We then ordered Sushi Nachos and the Hawaiian Roll with a side of diced jalapeños and spicy mayo. I was confused when the Nachos came out bc I had expected something different in my head. However, they were fresh and tasted great with the jalapeños. The Hawaiian Roll was also super fresh and tasty. I liked the uniqueness of the Nachos. The wasabi provided a very hearty punch to the brain. Overall, I enjoyed the meal here. Pricing was a bit more than I had thought, so this won't be a frequent stop but I do recommend giving them a try for fresh sushi. read more

WOW. JUST WOW. This just topped my list as the best sushi in Georgia. Hands down. Our order was mostly nigiri - Toro, salmon, sweet shrimp, scallop, red snapper, yellowtail, seared Albacore, Uni, and jalapeño yellowtail dish, and finally a spicy yellowtail hand roll. Every bite was absolute bliss. Perfection. Not hyperbole. I started laughing because I couldn't believe how good everything was. I am a self described Sushi snob from LA. I was a regular at Sushi Nozowa, Sasabune, and Jinpachi. I could've bought a house with the money I spent on my sushi addiction. So... I know my sushi. It's very difficult to give a score to Sushi Uchi. I will just go with the average of.... 4 for the quality: this is one of the best I have tried lately. The rice is not sticky and some pieces fall apart on the way to the mouth. 3 for the service: - there is only one lady serving both the tables and the take outs. She does her very best and she is very nice but she needs help. - two sushi chefs are not enough on a busy night. The wait time is too long. We normally get full with 1 special roll, at any other restaurant. At Sushi Uchi, I had 2 rolls and left hungry. Great that they are using less rice but I feel that the rolls are way too small. Bottom line, if you want to feel full and satisfied, you might need to eat 4 rolls. (3) The place is very small but cute (4). Nice location, 5 minutes from where we live. Will we go back? For sure because, apart from the very plain Shrimp Tempura Roll, everything was delicious. It would be a 3,5. I will give it a 3 willing to update after another dinner. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants for sushi! If going on a weekend be sure to get there early to get a seat! It is quaint neighborhood restaurant. Family friendly. Our go to are the Chris Roll and tempura salmon roll. The ginger salad is excellent. If you are craving a soup you must try the udon noodles. read more

Sushi Uchi is the bomb! I love their lunch specials - my favorite by far, is the Salmon Box! It comes with Salmon over vegetables, rice, sushi, and one piece of shrimp tempura. The salmon is amazing, from the texture to the taste! Always perfectly cooked and seasoned. The vegetables that the salmon is served on may be even better! It's a mix of Zucchini, carrots, mushrooms and onions. I generally eat the salmon, veggies and shrimp in one sitting and then have the sushi and the rice later. The restaurant has an intimate feel. Great for dates, not good for large groups. The entire restaurant may hold about 20 people max. I generally call in and place a to-go order, but I have eaten inside maybe twice. The first time was with a group of 5/6 people, which was fine, but I probably wouldn't go any larger that that! Overall: Give it a try. Get the salmon box! read more
