The sushi was great. It was nice and fresh. This is a real hole in the wall place so to speak. You wouldn't expect such great food and service in a location like Hempstead. Just ate here last night and it was amazing just like every other time. I got the Salmon Avocado salad which is outta this world especially with their ginger dressing. I also had their spicy roll combo which is great. Their sushi is very fresh and tastes delicious. The prices here are very reasonable and portion sizes are huge. They have a nice variety and are willing to teach sushi newbies the ropes. Not too crazy about the storefront openness to the busy traffic. That's just me. I love their sushi! I've ordered take out about 20 times and they never disappoint. The place is clean and the staff has always been friendly. I call ahead of time and simply say "I'll have what I ordered last time". The response is always a small chuckle and "okay". Much easier than going through roll by roll. I stumbled upon this eatery when I was at my fiancés place and was looking for a healthier takeout option. Not only was the sushi ridiculously fresh, it was very yummy and the service was nice as well. I was greeted by the owners kids and they were so adorable. I ordered a Japanese melon soda(you gotta try it so good!) with my order and they showed me how to open it (it's in a bit of a complicated bottle). I definitely will be coming back. I ordered the spicy tuna with brown rice, urchin sashimi, and a miso soup. All were delicious (and they didn't skimp out on the miso!---it was packed with tofu chunks and seaweed). read more

quiet, hole-in-the-wall, slow paced, charming atmosphere with very attentive staff. the menu is very simple, nothing innovative. the california, spicy shrimp, and unagi rolls are my favorite. the meat/veggies inside are always lukewarm or warm, which brings out the flavor i think (i can't stand it when it's cold or hot). good balance - not too much rice and the flavor isn't too bland where you have to dump sauce on it. you could really eat it without any kind of sauce, though I love tempura sauce. this is also the only sushi i've ever eaten that still tastes alright after being in the fridge (hard rice) and it doesn't fall apart. rolls are about $4-5 and special rolls are $6-$11. read more

This is my all time favorite sushi place. I've gone to dozens of sushi restaurants in Long Island, Queens and NYC and this is by far the best. The ginger dressing is superb, the fish is always fresh, and the same waitress has been there for years. She's adorable and remembers what I order even when I haven't been there for months. It's small and intimate and perfect for a date or a night out with friends or family. The sushi sandwich is incredible and the shrimp avocado salad is crazy good. I moved about half an hour away and I still go there as often as possible because nothing in my new Queens neighborhood even comes close. read more

This is my boyfriend and my go-to Japanese place! The food is always excellent and the wait-staff is very nice. Japanese can be a bit pricey normally, but prices here are really reasonable. I always get the chicken teriyaki (be sure to specify white meat chicken!) and my boyfriend often gets a roll (he likes them all). I was very disappointed, have had sushi here 3 times, we have picked up. 2 times was great third time they messed up the order.. Tonight I called and asked for delivery to franklin sq, she said yes we do. I gave my address and now she says it's far away, I live 2 minutes up the road with a car from Hempstead Tpk... She says it will be an hour, that as 9.42 I say that's fine.. Then she starts back tracking and says it will be 11.30 because we are busy.. I mean if you don't wanna deliver to this area just say it, don't try to convince me to not with various stories. I eat sushi a couple of times a week and they just lost my business with this. After my experience tonight I doubt that I'll be coming back to this restaurant. About a week ago I came here with one of my friends and I to enjoy some sushi. Mind you I've been coming here for a while so the waitress (I'm assuming also the owner) always serves us. Before taking care of the check I told my friend I was going to the restroom and to take care of my check and add a tip as well which I always add a tip! Turns out my friend thought I said not add a tip and didn't leave one by accident. So tonight I took my sister to sushi palace because I was always raving about how good it was! When we were done eating and I asked the same waitress that serves me all the time to bring the check. She proceeds to come back to our table with the check and had the audacity to remind me that last week I didn't leave her a tip! I have never ever been so humiliated in my life especially in front of my sister which wasn't the person I was with when this incident happened! My wife and I have been frequenting this delightful sushi restaurant for years. Friends of ours who are familiar with sushi from Japan assure us that the sushi here is comparable in every way. It has a very devoted following of customers, and it's easy to understand why. The appetizers and main meals are always fresh and produced with amazing artistry. Try the sashimi pizza for a special treat! Miso soup is always hot, and not too salty. The sushi and sashimi are perfectly cut. The special rolls are beautiful and tasteful. The service is always friendly, courteous, and prompt - even when the small eating area is packed with people (as if often in the evenings). There is also a personableness about the place that makes it a refreshing change from larger restaurants and their anonymity. Here you feel like a family eating with food provided by family. We don't go to any other sushi places (unless we are the guests of others); and we bring all of our friends and business associates here. We have never been disappointed. Tonight my husband and I wanted to try a new sushi place and saw this had 4 1/2 stars. We ordered it and had it delivered because we are stuck at home with our newborn baby. Well we should have stuck with what we know because the food was not good. First of all the soup and seaweed salad were so salty we couldn't even finish them, and threw more than half of it away. The shrimp roll was so gross and fishy smelling. I did try one piece which I now regret because it was so nauseating I had to spit it out. My husband ordered two special rolls which he did not like at all. He also didn't finish his dinner which is rare for him. He never leaves food on his plate. I called them to let them know the shrimp was fishy and instead of apologizing and offering a refund they told me no one else complained so don't order it next time. Well guess what there will be no next time because we will never come here again. Bad food and bad customer service. read more

I live near Sushi Palace, and while i've never sat down to have a meal, I've gotten takeout NUMEROUS times from them, and have never been disappointed. I, like many others, scoffed at the Sushi place near like a million bodegas, a gas station and a laundromat... but the food doesn't lie. The fish is fresh, the rolls are delicious, as is their hot japanese food. I can't think of a time that i've gotten food from here and been dissatisfied. Someone below said they don't trust the sashimi/sushi, this is in fact one of the first places I ever tried sashimi and WOW was it good. I highly recommend the Eel, Mackarel and the Sea urchin.. just yum. And, while I've never sat down to eat there, I've sat down to wait for my order, and those two waitresses are incredible, quick, efficient, on the ball and friendly to regulars. It's a great little hidden jewel. Also! they have a pretty good Sake selection in addition to their beer and wine. read more
