This was quick solo stop for sushi for lunch. I have been here before however, this is my 1st review of the restaurant. This location has a parking lot directly outside which makes it convenient. Upon entering, I was barely greeted as there was no one in the restaurant when I arrived. I reviewed the menu and made my selection of California roll along with Salmon roll tempura with yum yum sauce and soy sauce included. My food was ready in about 10 minutes and I was on my way. I stopped in for a quick lunch with a friend. The service at the table was prompt. I ordered a simple meal of miso soup and an appetizer and tea and it hit the spot. My colleague ordered the special sushi deal, and it was more than enough for $12.. At the end of our meal, We paid the bill at the counter and orange slices were brought out to us to end the meal. read more

This is Sushi Q 2.5. 2.5 for the name and also my rating. I finally understand the 2.5 name of the business. There's a sushi q 2 in Owings Mills and this is like the take out version of it. There's two booths available for seating but it doesn't seem like it's meant for dine in. Anyway, this is my second time here. First time, rice is undercooked. Didn't like my rolls. The sushi 2 in Owings Mills is typically fine but I don't feel like driving there so I'm like let me give 2.5 another chance. I was wrong again lol. We have been coming here since they opened and have spent a lot of money here. We LOVED this place. it used to be great service, you would sit down, order, and have a normal dining experience. We came here today to find it's now "self service" which is where you have to order like carry out, and they serve it to you on a tray, all in plastic. They used to have regular menus, actual bowls, and plates as well as cups. Instead you are given everything in take out containers including plastic cups! This took away from the whole dine-in experience entirely. It's a small restaurant of only 4 tables so I am not sure what prompted this change. We will be finding a new restaurant to frequent at for sushi in the area for a DINE IN experience . read more

Popped in here as it is in the new neighborhood. Had the sashimi deluxe dinner (comes with house salad with ginger dressing and a small miso soup), the Alaska roll and some gyoza. I ordered it to go and had a seat. They weren't terribly busy at the time I stopped in and their turnaround time was blistering fast. I took my order, drove home and unpacked. Everything was packaged nicely, packed in an orderly manner, and arrived at my house as it would have had I dined in. I always appreciate this level of attention when picking up take out orders. Additionally, as I unpacked, I found the pleasant surprise of an extra roll (Angry Lobster roll? ) labeled by hand as "on the house". What a treat that was! I certainly don't see this on a regular basis, and appreciate the thoughtfulness of the business in making gestures like this. The sashimi was fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The slices were generous but not so large as to make them chewy. They were nicely presented and delicious. The rolls were both fantastic! I really enjoyed the flavors of the Alaska roll, and the Angry Lobster roll was also tasty, but a little more unusual as it had been grilled in the oven. Still, it was good and definitely will try it again. The house salad was pretty standard, though it wasn't the best ginger dressing I have had. The miso soup was...well...miso soup. What else is there to say? It was good, but ultimately it was just simple miso soup. The gyoza were very good. Pan fried just enough to give them a nice crunch without taking away there delicious dumpling nature. Overall the whole meal was a true treat. Ignore the complex math, it is super good sushi! Sushi Q 2.5 is the 6th Sushi Q in the empire. 2.5 has a small sit down area (with COVID, who cares). Thirdly, the staff is friendly and fast with the food. Secondly, the location in a strip mall just up, or down from the Pink Mall with easy in and out is great. I usually go to the location on Red Run Blvd but decided to try this one since it's a little closer to my home. I should have stuck with the other one. Dined here for lunch today. I had the Japanese fried rice with shrimp and my date had the Japanese fried rice with shrimp and scallops. The good part was that the portions are huge. The bad - it lacked taste and flavor. We are used to the one from Sushi Q2 on Red Run Blvd, which is much, much better taste-wise. I got a side of salmon sashimi which was fine but we were given small dishes for soy sauce and then they were taken away so I had to ask for a small dish again which was a little annoying since it was obvious I ordered sushi. DO NOT order the rice with scallops. The scallops were overcooked and inedible. Couldn't even get my fork through one of them. The shrimp were overcooked also, hard and chewy. My date's fork was dirty so he had to ask for another one, upon which the waiter inspected it closely, I guess to make sure it was really dirty. IDK...We also had an appetizer of edamame, which was fine...kinda hard to mess that up. The waiter wasn't very friendly. He was abrupt and seemed annoyed. I witness that with other customers as well, not just us. For the cost and service, I would definitely stick to the other location on Red Run Blvd...which is consistently good all the time and the staff is more personable at that location. read more

A few months ago I went with friends to the one in Owings Mills and had a great time, great sushi & freebies. As my granddaughter was in town I thought to go to the one in Valley Village near Lenny's . It is a much smaller venue, more like a carry out but with a few booths & tables. The tuna tartare was fabulous. A small crab dish with, I believe, eel sauce was offered for free. My girl had sushi tuna & I ordered (I thought) sushi salmon rolls & sashimi. What I got was salmon rolls with nori & 3 salmon with rice. After speaking with the waiter about their not being a description of the dish he said that he would mention it to the manager. He brought me some spicy Mayo so I could dip the bland rolls in that & then the wasabi & soy sauce. At the end 2 pieces of a yellow cake with a nice topping was brought out instead of the proverbial fortune cookies. The waiter & I sgreed that when I came back there was another choice for me to try. So the overall experience was a 2. The waiter was rude. My sister in law wasn't done with the menu and he just grabbing it trying to take it from her. The food thou it was good. We got edamame and calamari to start with gave us complementary soup and fried crab. We got Hollywood sushi, California roll. Both were a 3.5. Husband got the Tuna Tataki and Crunchy spicy tuna roll. This is Sushi Q in Owings Mills twin sister- same great food, same menu, just at a different location. They have the best seaweed salad and I tried the chicken Yaki Udon for the first time. Awesome! Went in last night with a friend my husband and my daughter. Ordered a bunch of fancy rolls and they were extremely spicy and it did not mention anything on the menu that they were going to be as spicy as they were. I do not feel good all evening as a result of last night's meal. I was also expecting my sweet potato roll to be cooked sweet potatoes it almost tasted like they were raw, I was expecting them to be like tempura style where it's sweet like candy. Had a doctor's appointment nearby that we were early for so checked out Sushi Q 2.5. It's a small place with maybe 5 tables. Had a very large menu that explained all the various roles they offer plus their lunch specials. Service was quick enough but we just thought the food itself wasn't all that special. Today was my 2nd experience with eating at a Sushi Q Bar and Grill in Owings Mills Maryland. I find out that there are about 7 in the Maryland owner. My first experience and where it s location was marvelous and the Ambiance of it seemed like Japan Where i had lived in the country in the mid to late eighties and truly the first Sushi Q s food tasted just olike it . This one however i was not pleased with. I went into this Sushi establishment with American music blaring loud and no artifacts as i saw before now and it seemed like any carryout American place except a few tables were in it. I was given a carry out menu however before that one of ths the staffers asked waS eating in or out and i said In. so when i got the carryout menu the writing was so tiny I barely could REAd the selections or prices . The waiter cam over and i said i wanted A Tepeura Supper and he said he had it in Appetizers and i wanted to have both Vegetables and Shrimp. He said he would make a menyu up for me . I never did get to see what that meant until the food came out and it showed miso soup which i asked it they had that and was it vegetarian as i am, yes he shook his had and he asked did i want rice and i said sticky rice not fried and Soon i was shown a platter of miso and white rice and fried Temura of Vegetables and fried long Shrimp. At no time did the waiter explain ths was all ala carte with this folden paper menu. I heard the wait staff saying we do not have a dinner menu for my request but he would create one for me. The Tempura dipping sauce was missing grated Radish which is what makes the taste so Asian and when i asked why he said that the Sushi q company has their own version , and this is the first and only time i had Temur and the dipping sauce tasted flat. The fried vegetables and the Shrimp were over fried and when I bite into it , it was very dry. thus not having the proper tasting sauce i know and liked with the dryness of the frying i waS VERY DISAPPOINTED TO. wHEN I GOT THE BILL i did not believe this was all alarte for the waiter did not day he was putting togeher an all alacarte supper for me. Since i could not check it out on the menu since he made it uo for me i had no recourse to pay steamed rice 1/2 cup 4l95 and miso soup 3.95 which i expe cted to pay extra. But no tea included and a waiter who did not know English well to speak up to tell me what i was having and when i asked about the sauce he clearly said we have this kind of DIPPING SAUCE even thought i said at the otehrs i have tried its different and nodded. In the other one on Red One Road. music was from the Far East and motiff had signs of being In Japan and door hangings definelty were Japan. I LIKE TO FEEL THE AMBICANCE OF THE COUNTRY AND THIS WAS LIKE A CARRY OUT PLACE WITH THE SODA MACHINE IN THE WALL IN THE MIDDOE OF THE SMALL AREA FROJM THE EATING BAR TO THE OTHER WAll. I told him I was very disappoihnted ahnd asked to speak to the manager again he did not seem to understand and i paid by bill and said i would not return. Miscommunication i dont think so and certainly not the way the restaurants of any ethinic groups ive patronized. i wil not go to a chain when i eat out Japanese next time . The food is really good but the service is terrible. I've been there a couple times because everyone has bad days sometimes. Every time I've gone the service is terrible. They ignore you, if sit down and eat there they don't check on you. I ended up tipping very little and the waiter told me I need to tip more. I paid for the food but tipping is for service. I won't be going back. There's a sushi restaurant up the street a little further with great food and excellent service. read more

Definitely the best sushi in town. My husband was not interested in sushi until I convinced him to go to the Sushi Q in Westminster, then he got hooked. We recently moved to Baltimore and were thrilled to see that this Sushi Q is within 10 minutes of our new place. The sushi at this location is even better. The menu is extensive, the portions are very generous and the staff is great. For those who don't like raw sushi, there's a large selection of cooked and vegetarian rolls. The prices are reasonable, too. Be aware that the inside is tiny and there's no bar, if that matters to you. The food and service more than make up for that. We do carry-out now because of Covid, and they've always been quick and packed it up carefully so it doesn't get all messed up in the boxes. read more

The service was okay, they kind of rush you on the phone but they tend to get the order correct. I definitely have to find a new sushi restaurant when I feel up to eating it again. This is what I consider a hidden gem. I just stumbled upon it and I'm so glad I did. They started me off (for free) with a miso soup and an appetizer. I don't know what it was other than delicious!! The AVOCADO SALAD was perfect. Every slice of avocado and leaf of lettuce was super fresh and the ginger dressing was very flavorful. Speaking of flavorful....WOW the VALENTINE ROLL! Yum, yum, yum!!! If you enjoy any of the other Sushi Q's,you'll like this smaller version in Lenny's shopping center. The menu is the same as the others, but seating is limited. That didn't matter to us tonight.
