Wow! What a perfect welcome to Austin, Texas! It's our first trip here for work, and we decided to try this new spot for our Date Night #1, on a Saturday! This new HOT Sushi place hit the spots for sure and definetly a Must Try Ya'll! Ambiance: Great location and walking distance from all the 3-5 star Hotels around 4th-6th Streets. Gorgeous interior design, simple yet sophisticated, authentic with Japanese plant life, beautifully kept bonsai trees and lighting. The crowd was classy and sexy, you can tell everyone was enjoying every bite and each other's company, and having a good time. The Bar had a great scene with many unique cocktails and top notch options! Customer Service: Warm & Friendly with many smiles for miles...We were fortunate to have Host Kylie (Jenner/Minogue, so I can remember her name Lol) was stellar! She was super friendly, had the sweetest & kind energy, educated with the Menu, she knew the Cocktails and Food pairings really well, and recalls all the new crowds' faves! She and the Roku Team were very attentive, always checking on us and refilling our water. Side Note: Offered Evian Water Sparkling or Still. We weren't aware of the $9 per bottle fee. If Hosts can present that at the beginning, would be a nicer alert and not a little surprise at the end. But of course the Evian water was appreciated. Our Menu Choices... Yum experience with "Haku" (Japanese) Vodka and drink combo, really refreshing!! Suggestion: Add a touch more of alcohol, I couldn't really taste it. Sushi Roku outdid themselves with the service, ambiance and selection of dishes. I parked at the open lot directly adjacent to the restaurant and paid $30 ($10/hr) because I didn't know how long I'd be but this is to tell everyone just pay the $12 valet! That way enjoy yourself for as long as you'd like. Listen, it's hard to pick a favorite because they were all divine. Fun fact I have NEVER eaten sushi like this and I challenged myself and committed to trying everything and I ate it ALL! If you are on the fence about raw fish, textures, unique flavors, this was an amazing experience to change your mind! I thought the play on Brussels sprouts chips was brilliant. None of that soggy oily mess you might have experienced and with so many places doing a similar dish, this was a welcomed twi, this was crispy like a chip and just the right amount of salt and truffle oil! The hanabi crispy rice is what sealed the deal with a warm crispy rice against a cool tuna was divine. The Toro Carpaccio had to be my absolute favorite! It was so melt in your mouth amazing with a freshness of the wasabi (real wasabi and perfect amount of heat) and salty brine from caviar with a nice hint of acidity might have took the award for the night. I didn't even add the Tropical Hibiscus and Affogato dessert because Yelp said 10 pictures only but I can't wait to go back and reorder my favs plus try some new ones. read more

This place was in one word: disappointing. The staff were VERY fast...to the point that it was actually not what you wanted. We ordered the Izakaya chef's choice meal and they brought out all of the courses at the same time. We ended up with barely any room on the table. The waiter kept recommending against what we were wanting to order but wouldn't say why. When we asked what was in something he said he doesn't know because he usually recommends people don't get those things. The only thing that wasn't fast was the bill when we asked for it at the end. The food quality itself was honestly just "ok" and not worth it for the very high price tag. A lot of the items lacked depth of flavor--the carpaccio lacking acid and the scallops garnished with unnecessary fried onions. I didn't find a redeeming quality throughout this experience and I do not recommend it. Hopefully they will find a way to improve! read more

I really liked this restaurant! It's upscale and trendy with low light vibes and very friendly staff. The portions are not big (relative to cost) but the quality of the food is very good, and I LOVED my drink (the Empress' Kiss). My date really liked his drink too (the Smokin' Yuzu). My favorite dish of the night was the eel, it was about $11 for 2 pieces but the quality was EXCELLENT. The cucumber salad we had was also a very nice palate cleanser in between the sushi plates (which they brought out at separate times). Overall I would definitely recommend trying this place when you have a chance! It is a little costly for the portions but again I was quite happy with the quality. And really, the service was excellent - everybody was SO friendly, from the hostesses to the waiters/waitresses.
