My family and I ate at Sushi Sake Boca. The next morning, I was incredibly sick with vomiting chicken fried rice and diarrhea. It lasted 8-12 hours, where I could even eat anything. I know it was the rice because it was all I ate that day. I had it for lunch around 1:40 and completed the rest around 6:00 PM. By 4:00 AM I was vomiting. I have called the location several times. They just take your name and number and continue to ignore you. Please be careful where you eat. You would think at $140 lunch, they would at least acknowledge you as a customer. read more

We had a Calle Ocho roll that was surprisingly good, had ham croqueta with maduros on top (Cuban roll for sure), JB roll for my boy great fresh salmon, Angel Roll and the Kendall roll. Called 4/27 to make a reservation for Mother's Day CONFIRMED they are in fact accepting reservations as we are a group of 8. The person said yes we are, made the reservation said I would receive a text. No text so I call back and finally get a text later confirming reservation. She calls me back again to confirm the time after I've replied to the text. Today 3 days before mother's day get a call saying we are not taking reservations but "you can still come if you want" Completely unprofessional and incompetent staff. read more

It was out first time visiting this place in Boca. It was cozy, the ambiance is great, it makes you wanting to stay longer. The seats were comfortable where I was and most importantly the food was great! Kelly and I ordered the same thing scallops with fried rice hibachi style. I could have it any day. The lychee martini was a bomb! I'm getting that again! I tried Blueberry sangria, if I'm not mistaken with the name! It was so good too! There's a lot of good selections in the menu. The server was lovely and efficient and the restaurant is very attractive. We ordered the soft shell crab. It was in a light batter and cooked just right. The dipping sauce served with it was a vinegar base with way too much salt. Then we had sashimi, the quality of which was adequate -- no more no less. Would not order again. Also had the rainbow roll which is a california roll with slices of fish on top and also avocado. Most of the california roll was covered with avocado and only 3 pieces had a very very thin slice of either tuna or salmon on it. Basically, it was a california roll. Yes, we were disappointed. You know, I wanted to like this place but due to slowness, I had to come here and give my review. I went on Thursday 1.25.24, I was on my way to catch a flight, I was about 15 minutes away from this restaurant. I knew I wouldn't have a chance to eat so I called and placed an order for pickup. I asked the guy how long before it would be ready? He said in 10 minutes, that was perfect for me given I was 15 minutes away. So I get there, they told me my order wasn't ready yet... ok, so I waited a few, 30 minutes later, my food is still not ready!!! Mind you, it's really has been 45 minutes if you add the 15 minutes time to get there...So I had to leave, I almost missed my flight and hungry. The restaurant had about 5 customers sitting and a slew of people in the lobby, waiting to pickup their food, I won't be back, they're WAY TOO SLOW!!!!! read more

Analysis: The Boca branch of Sushi Sake is franchised from a Miami-based chain of "Cubanized" sushi restaurants, known for elaborate Floribbean-style rolls and teriyaki/hibachi mains. Oh, and fried rice served in pineapples -- they were moving a lot of those tonight. Opened by Yvonne and Jorge Gonzalez, the immediate family (her sister) owns D'Cuban Bistro in East Boca. Jorge, whose background is in construction, did most of the restaurant's buildout himself, renovating the former Boston Market location. Yvonne is the clear management heavy who has a restaurant background. They are both charming people; they've hired professional servers, all of whom are Latin American. I only saw one Asian in the kitchen, who appeared to be a consulting chef. Bussers speak Spanish and even asked me -- en español -- if they could remove dishes. I guess I look convincingly Cuban. I have that Pitbull thing going. The menu is split into fried appetizers, sushi appetizers, sushi rolls, and teriyaki/hibachi platters. We ordered a beef negimaki first -- the beef roll is not seared, and it's topped with a very thick, cornstarchy-sweet teriyaki sauce used on all their teriyaki entrees. It was not good. We sent it back. Some people might like this style, but it's not our speed. The fried appetizer menu is all stuff they admittedly have to buy from the franchise supplier, so it's all frozen. The one thing that is not is the shrimp (and I also think the vegetable) tempura. It's a light tempura batter, not the panko style (which is technically not tempura). The accompanying sauce is a salsa rosa/mayochup, not a tentsuyu with dashi and mirin -- again, the Miami influence. We got a Marlins Roll (scallop) and the JM roll (unlisted, riceless), both of which were very good. Excellent presentation, well put together. The strength is in the sushi rolls and sushi appetizers (which look attractive on the web menu) here. All rolls can be ordered riceless for $2 more (or brown rice). Still, our servers were unaware of this, so I would say grab Yvonne if they don't know what's going on with any menu item as she has the most knowledge among the staff when it comes to the restaurant offerings. Service on Saturday night was a bit of a mixed bag; arguably, this is opening week, and they are just getting their sea legs, so I'm not inclined to ding them so bad. They do have a lunch special, so I'd suggest you try that first, and they will be offering Happy Hour from 4 to 7 weekdays. The bar has a full range of stuff from Southern Spirits, and has a beverage consultant who has formulated a menu of cocktails. We ordered the Blueberry Mojito -- it was good. We did NOT order their oddly (dare I say tone-deaf) named Margarita (which is made with Mezcal and Suntory Toki whiskey). I brought it to their attention, but they seemed to be afraid to tell the guy. There is a lot of crazy roll-style Americanized sushi competition in this part of mid-Boca, and while the sushi is decent it is not really distinguishing itself. However the foot traffic in this shopping center may be good for the place. My personal choice in this part of Boca is still Saiko-i for its creativity and fish selection. Yvonne told me she wants to do some specials that are not under the chain's control, I hope we see more of that. read more

I love this place!! While they have a Miami location, this Boca location is brand new this past year in the Beracasa shopping center and has yet to be discovered by the crowds. Their sushi is extremely fresh, well flavored and there are many options available. The restaurant is very clean and the service is always great. We have tried what seems like every sushi restaurant in and around Boca and only found one or two that we've ever returned to, but now that we found Sushi Sake it's our go-to and we have yet to be disappointed! Not sure if I was too early, but the restaurant was empty when I arrived at 4pm. Would have been 5 stars but they give you hardly and sauce and then they shake the containers to make it look like they're full. Their Chicken Fried Rice is really good, but they skimp on the yum yum sauce and it's honestly ridiculous! If you ask for more sauce, they charge you a DOLLAR for one whole sauce. At first they brought unordered fish - and insisted we order it. Then waited for right dish. Perhaps the sushi is better. But someone could not cook chicken. Salad chunks of ice cold iceberg lettuce. I've had a decent experience a few months back when I first visited this location, the food and service were good. I walked in for dinner earlier this evening and had a far different experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. While the hostess was friendly and sat us down quickly, we were neither brought waters, asked drink orders, nor acknowledged for close to 15 minutes. The few servers working were taking orders and bringing food to other tables frequently passing by us. Another small group of two people came in and were seated near us. They were immediately given waters and asked drink orders as soon as they sat down. The server told them she'd be right back for their food order, passing our table in the process. A group sitting behind us ordered food and it was brought out to them during the same time. Frustrated with the lack of service, we thanked the hostess and walked out to find dinner at a different restaurant. This was a disappointing experience, not a single person that walked by had acknowledged us or told us they would be right with us. This place absolutely is HORRIBLE! The service is the worst I ever had. There were three of us. We ordered lunch. The waitress brought 3 side salads and an iced tea. The other two had water. The sugar packets were hard as rocks. I complained and the waitress was dumb enough to tell me that all of the sugar is like that! We waited 40 minutes for the food and when it didn't come I told the waitress to pack it to go. 10 more minutes and we couldn't wait anymore. I didn't want to be accused of dine and dash so I left a $20 on the table and told the waitress that covers the salads and iced tea. We left. When I got home I tried to call the manager. I was told he would call me back but he never did. I was unable to locate any contact for the corporate office. read more
