I always visit Roxy when we are in Reno. Their Romantic environment attracted me and my husband. I discovered that if you are seated in the inner room, it was quiet. If you are seated near the entrance area, you would see the people eating at the sushi restaurant next to Roxy and also hear loud music. This took away the romantic experience for me. The servers were polite and fast. They served two types of bread before or during the meal. You could ask for as many as you want. We ordered six raw oysters. They were not fresh and was very disappointing. I also ordered Cedar Plank Verlasso Salmon cooked medium but I thought it was over cooked a bit. The portion was a decent size. My husband ordered Preserved Lemon Chicken. It was delicious while it was hot. In general, quality of food and freshness are usually better but this time it was not as great. read more

Haven't eaten lunch that day and the meal filled me up. Best place for a dinner and group. It was me and a family member there tonight. When we arrived, they started seating at around 5:00 and we came about 4:50 so we had to wait 10 minutes. Good menu for food. We where seated next to a glass door where you can view the cooks and members preparing food, but not as cooking it. We waited about 10 minutes to get served after, also being the 2nd ones in the place by then. Then we got served Bacon and Cheddar bread to eat on the meantime, along with drinks. The Cheese and Bacon parts where on the bottom, the outside was nice and crispy. I ordered a New York Steak and they ordered Prime Rib, Medium Rare for both. We also had refills on our drinks when low. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our main food, Prime Rib had Mashed Potatoes, few veggies, and the Prime Rib. The Prime Rib and more like Well Done instead of Well Done. My New York Steak was Medium Rare at least, along with Fries and Creamed Spinach. The fries where very thin as a Credit Card, and crispy, but was at least fresh. Don't Understand how you can make Card thin Fries. The Creamed Spinach was very good, I didn't end up having it but I heard it was very good 5 of 5. The Prime Rib was ok, not the best.About 3-3 1/2 of 5 for a rate. Following the Medium Rare of Well Done, Well done was 2 levels higher, from Medium Rare - Medium - Well Done and how can you go 2 levels higher? Overall the total cost was 106 (One Hundred and Six Dollars) for the entire meal, pretty pricey. If I could give more than 5 stars here I would. Decided to try this restaurant to celebrate our daughter's success at a recent Taekwondo Tournament. Honestly, being that it was part of the hotels I wasn't really expecting much, but we were so pleasantly surprised! Our waiter Jeff Clark was excellent - attentive, friendly and came back to address the needs of the table at just the perfect times. We had a wonderful sommelier as well, but didn't catch his name. The rest of the wait staff were so great too. And that was all just the service. Then there was the food..wow. Wonderful! Filets cooked to perfection, the sides Jeff suggested were delicious (Brussels sprouts and broccolini), and the dessert was something else - chocolate soufflé and this warm pear tart. Perfection. We were in Reno for our daughters cheer competition and we wanted to take her to a nice dinner the night before. This place was top notch from the bar/ bartenders while we were waiting for our table to be ready to the ambiance to the staff to the food. Upon being seated we were instantly given water by the bus boy , followed by the amazing Porsche who had the important job of delivering that overly amazing cheddar & bacon bread ( because hello we all need some carbs in our life). Our waiter was Spencer who was awesome. When asking about the wine menu he sent over the in house sommelier who helped recommend an incredible bottle of Justin wine. Thank you wine gods! We had the oysters and calamari to start , then my daughter and I split a filet and wedge. They ever so kindly split it in the kitchen for us , without us even having to ask. My husband also had a filet accompanied by the mushroom Mac & cheese. The food was so GOOD! One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The food being good is always a plus but what makes it the ultimate experience is the staff. You were all incredible . We took a sip a water , our glass was filled up and the same with our wine. First time here and I LOVE it. Took my folks to a show and dinner for their 51st Anniversary, totally worth it when you purchase your show tickets with 50% off dinner!! We normally head over to Western Village celebration dinners but we decided to try Roxy's instead. Maître d' was very friendly and sat us in a nice corner booth, although I highly recommend sitting at a table because the booth was impossible to slide into because the cushions are cloth. We started off with some escargot and the baked lobster served in garlic butter. The escargot is the best I've tried so far in Reno it melted in my mouth. And the lobster oh my god, so yummy, we used our leftover bread to do a dip in the garlic butter. We were a little disappointed though in the way they serve your bread, the girl would come to the table and only offer a slice at a time and we are a little piggies we wanted more!! Our waiter was very friendly and very accommodating. OK, where to begin, dinner selections. I ordered the sea scallops, which were delicious! They were served a little bed of crab meat, with potato soufflé and some tempura green beans. We also ordered the Filet Mignon which had a beautiful béarnaise sauce, the mignon melted in our mouth's. And my mom ordered the herb crusted Prime rib with a side of horseradish, and garlic mashed potatoes, she said it was delicious. My wife and I ate here Saturday night. Our waiter was Jesse who provided just the right amount of attention. We had Calamari for an appetizer and it was cooked perfectly. I had the Rib Eye, my wife the Filet Mignon. Mine was served with roasted small potatoes, hers with asparagus. That's my only knock. A good steak should include both a starch and vegetable. This was a rare time when I ordered a steak rare and it actually arrived rare. Usually they overcook. Overall a very good experience with good ambiance. Great selection at the bar as well. read more

I decided to start off with the "Golden Girl" wine flight. 3 chardonnays that were all very good. First course was their house salad. I'm not a fan of the spring mix, but their orange vinegarette and balsamic drizzle was so good that I ended up eating the entire thing! I loved how the bitterness of the leaves were covered up with the dressing..now if only other places could figure that out.... As my main course, I chose the "prime rib" pork with Yukon mashed potatoes and wax green beans. Everything was cooked perfectly and flavored so well. I am a fan! We have spent many evenings enjoying martinis and delicious food at Roxy's. It used to be one of our favorites downtown. Last night we went to Roxy with four friends after dining out downtown. We were all casually dressed as we slipped in and sat down only to realize my husband was being held at the front and denied entrance due to dress code????? The doorman informed use that he did not have belt loops on his pants and therefore was out of compliance. Belt loops? His pants were a nice chino fabric with an elastic waist band covered by his shirt. The rest of the patrons (self included) were wearing flip flops, tennis shoes, tank tops. Asked for the manager who rudely enforced the "no belt loop policy" and asked us to leave. I wish I could blame it on alcohol, but my husband was sober! All around rude and disrespectful door man and manager. I have long thought the newly named "Row" was dirty, dingy, and reminiscent of a run down Atlantic City casino. Now I have serious reasons not to return and I will happily enjoy wine and steaks at GSR where they treat guests with respect. read more

I have dined here many time. I forgot they undercook the salmon. Sent back the center pIece for more heat. My grandson had the burger plain. He couldn't eat the whole thing but enjoyed it. He said he likes Habit burgers better. My son-in-law had the bone in rib-eye. He gobbled it up. The waiter Clark was excellent. I like the ambiance of the room off the kitchen. Before we ate we had tickets for the Christmas show, which we all enjoyed. Before the show at 2:45 pm we stopped at the dessert and I had an oatmeal cookie since I hadn't eaten all day. The dessert bar is located outside of the coffee shop (Eldorado). Friday afternoon/early evening. The bad news at 9;00 pm stomach cramps and diarrhea set in. I Felt horrible most of the night. I woke up nauseous. Started to feel better around noon. On Saturday, I called and spoke with the ROXY manager. He said the salmon is sushi grade and can be eaten raw. Obviously, Not in my case, though the salmon wasn't raw it was undercook. This is the second time I had to have the salmon cooked more. What made me sick - was it the cookie? No alcoholic beverages contributed. Everyone knows the high risk of undercooked fish. My guess it was the fish. The ROXY manager suggested I call a women in charge of F&B, Lydia O'Brian. I called her around 8:45 pm, She did not answer. So I called Glenn Carano and left him a message. No return call as of Sunday 10:35 pm. read more

I can't say enough about Roxy's. From the lighting, the decor, the candles placed perfectly, it made the whole ambience so pleasing. The food was absolutely delish!!! We had medium rare rib eye steaks and potatoes. They DEFINITELY know how to make a perfect medium rare steak and the flavoring. Oh my gosh--perfecto!!! The only downfall is that you'd have to stop yourself from eating all of it, if you want dessert--which I didn't do because my palette couldn't get enough of this perfectly seasoned steak and potatoes. I'm bummed because the dessert sounded really good. The mashed potatoes were delicious as well. Last but not least, our server, Eric, was awesome!!! He checked back with us often, made sure our glasses were filled, and he did all this while being very busy. He was pleasant to talk to, friendly, and outgoing. This place is the best!!! I will have to make sure we come here again wherever we come to Reno Update to my review.... We went back to Roxy's the day after because I just had to try the soufflé--especially how Eric raved so much about it. Well, he wasn't kidding!!! It was soooo good and worth the wait (it takes up to 35 minutes to make)!!! My mom had the lavender sorbet, and that was also pretty good. I asked to substitute starch for house salad and she said couldn't be done- spoke to restaurant manager and my request fulfilled. 2. I understand the capacity issue at the bar due to Covid: however she turned 3 separate couples away, yet based on the rules 7 max at bar but even if couples sat, would never exceed max. Total loss I'm revenue on this decision 3. I ordered an appetizer and never received it. Never any acknowledgement until I asked her to remove it from the bill. 4. Major attitude by the bar tender during entire meal, never once did she ask how my meal was or offer any beverages or dessert. Very very dissapointed in the service. However the meal was A plus! We went here for my wedding night dinner and I cannot say enough terrible things about our experience. We reserved FAR in advance and received two round tables where our entire wedding party could not speak with each other. I saw plenty of far better table options for out party of 10 and asked about them and the waiter said," they are reserved"- however, they were still available when we left. I had to get up and walk from table to table to keep conversations going with my guests! How uncomfortable! The whole experience took about three hours it took almost two hours to get our dinner.... Sooooo slow! Everyone was so burned out and tired after the long wait that most of the party was ready for bed. Beforehand---We were trying to decide between here and Ruth's Chris and I wish so much for such a special event we would've chose Ruth's Chris--- if you are going there for a special event please go somewhere else!!! Our whole party spent over 1000$. Most of the food was good, for our table. It was my wedding night and my steak was 80% fat, (they took it off the bill and apologized) but I will just say save your money and don't splurge here!!!! The veggies were spread out in the plate with the three large scallops sitting on three hash-browns on top of the veggies. Scallops were good. The vegetables appeared to be corn and Lima beans (it was pretty dark in there) and they were very runny. The liquid had soaked up in the the hash-browns. Great ambience, amazingly talented musicians, and delightful drinks give this place five stars. The best thing about this place is the piano bar and lounge on the second level, which is very low-key. Anyone can visit during the evening, no matter how they're dressed, from jeans to a tuxedo, and feel welcome. There is a limited selection of tables and chairs on the second level, by the piano and musicians, and the best way to get a seat here is by using the second level entrance (by the top of the escalators). There is also a first level entrance, which gives access to the bar and tables inside a closed area of the Roxy, as well as the sushi bat and steakhouse. I like to think of the first level of Roxy as the belly of the beast. It's a great place to grab a drink, and it's where the main bar is located, but it's closed off and dark, as compared to the second level, which is surrounded by an antique looking open fence around the perimeter, overlooking the water fountains below. Ultimately, this is a place to come if you want a nice relaxing spot to enjoy piano and sax music over drinks with friends. Dancing is allowed in a small area directly in front of the two-musician stage, and it's not uncommon to see couples dancing there. Thry also have a very large menu of all variety of drinks available here. If you can think of it, they can probably offer it. I had a Washington Apple martini, and it tasted just like a red apple - delicious!
