There are 3 main components of a wonderful dining experience; the setting, the staff, and the food. Since the first time I ate at Roxy I knew it would become one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Reno. They truly practice the art of hospitality and Jeff the general manager has extensively trained his staff in proper fine dining etiquette. The minute you are walked to your table by the friendliest host you will ever meet. You are instantly transported into a cozy, white bricked-lined wine cellar and sat at a pristine white tablecloth set up. Shortly after you are sat the bread cavalry will arrive with three options; sourdough, olive bread and BACON BREAD. Guess which one should you try? Don't forget to ask about the wine list! It is extensive and diverse, almost a guarantee there will be something for every preference. And if you don't know what you like make sure to ask for Jeff as he has extensive knowledge of wine. As for food I highly recommend EVERYTHING. Their quality never wavers over the years which is very important. The consistency, flavor, and presentation are always top-notch. Finally for dessert. Their signature souffles are a must-try and if you are a regular they are constantly coming out with new flavors. Please allow for 35 minutes as perfection takes time. Went to Roxy for anniversary dinner. Wait service was excellent, food was mediocre, valet staff were rude and condescending. And charged us $10 valet fee after we spent $300 on dinner, and they didn't even bother to open car door for my wife. Then they acted like we were jerks for not tipping for ugly service. Fine dinning? Sure, compared to McDonald's. This place is a joke. It's painfully obvious the chef here doesn't know what fine dinning is. Fine dinning is more than a nice atmosphere and a fancy setting. Its FRESH food, cooked right. What kind of steak house doesn't rest there stakes? Fine dinning is multiple levels of garnish, and not just chives sprinkled on everything. Haha. If this restaurant wasn't inside a casino it would have gone out of business by now. We have been going to Roxy's for several years but stopped during covid. This was out first time back since then (why did it take us so long?) Anyway, if you're looking for a nice steak house with great service, look no further. First, make sure you get a reservation as they are usually packed. My favorite room to dine in there is called "The Red Room". It is smaller than the other areas in the restaurant, intimate with booths and soft lighting. The portions are fairly large so both of us couples split our dinners with our spouses. The dinner starts off with some yummy freshly baked bread. Their house bread is a bacon cheese bread or you can choose the sour dough. They gave us both, then checked back to offer more. Next we chose the oysters which were from the Washington area and excellent. We chose a rib eye steak, with a baked potato, & a Cesar salad. The other couple started with a yellow tail/jalapeño app and chose the salmon dinner which came with rice. After dinner they brought us a sundae with chocolate and??? Omg! I had such an amazing Easter brunch at Roxy! This is the first time they've had a brunch service and it was amazing! Our server Jesse was fantastic. He kept us entertained and always kept the bottomless mimosa full! My husband had the prime rib. I had the quiche Lorraine. Fantastic food! Casino fine dining, an oxymoron imo. Came here for a birthday dinner, and to try a new restaurant for us and were surprised to see the prices had increased from what was shown online, most likely that is due to covid though. Surprised that basic cocktails were $12, with most being closer to $15. We both ended up with soda's. I ordered the french onion soup at $14 (yikes), and the scallop dish at $40. My husband ordered the lobster bisque $15, and the prime rib (I forget the price). The french onion soup was very good, but does it have to be $14? its onions and beef broth. The lobster bisque was very bland and watery, and we didn't finish it. The scallops were huge and delicious, and worth the price. The prime rib was again, fairly bland, and the whole plate was served luke warm. Bonus was real horseradish was served with it. I didn't mind, but the au jus wasn't served on the side and my husband doesn't like it, so that also sort of contributed to him not loving the dish. The service was great though, and I realize due to covid and needing distance we were seated in what I think was originally a walk way, and under a table with no light. Served us right though because we made last minute reservations. They did serve quite an assortment for a cup of coffee and they gave us a very big dessert. Overall, the experience was lacklust, with half of the meal not meeting any expectations, especially after a few covid months of not enjoying dining in. Wasn't really impressed enough to want to come back. But thankful for the service immensely. read more

The staff was just on point! Key lime martini & chocolate mint martini was really good if you like sweet cocktails. We started off with the escargot & lobster (escargot style) and it was excellent. My fiancé ordered the surf n turf ( lamb chops & lobster tail) and he said it was a trip to flavor town! I ordered the scallops and It was outstanding. I thought it was better than my fiancé's dish. The restaurant has great atmosphere. The staff are wonderful and attentive, but my GOD is the food awful. The New York steak was okay. The rib eye cap was fatty, undercooked and disgusting. Their idea of shoe string fries are basically chip strips that are terrible for dipping. How do you mess up fries? The potatoes in duck fat was dry, and I've had better breakfast potatoes at Ihop. The Brussels sprouts were flavorless and gross! The only saving grace was the mash potatoes. All of this food for $200 bucks. Take your money elsewhere. Trust me!! read more

The service at this place was great. Great staff. The bread was delicious and the Mac & cheese was also. However, the ribeye steak was horrible. A thin cut of some mystery meat that did not resemble a traditional ribeye steak or did it have the ribeye marbling or tip! It lacked flavor and for a med-rare steak it was tough and chewy! We both returned our steak after a couple of bites it was so bad. I don't know how they claim to be the best steak in Reno! It was one of the worse steaks I have ever had. I feel like Roxy is 4.5 star but averaged down. The food was excellent- truly 5 star quality. We had a bit of everything. Escargot, Lobster bisque, honey glazed fries, oysters, surf n turf (lobster tail and filet), foie gras, bone-in rib eye, shoestring fries (more like chips). The old fashioned I ordered was a generous portion. Had the S'mores and Creme Brûlée for dessert. Steaks were cooked to medium rare perfection. The filet was tender and the rib eye was juicy. The foie gras was also so tender and well presented with a mix of sprouts, carb and cherry tart. The lobster tail was tender and already dipped in butter The lobster bisque was served in the traditional fashion in a ceramic bowl with a puff pastry on top. I don't like roasted peppers in my bisque but otherwise it was perfect. All the appetizers pleased our group. The escargot was gobbled up in seconds. Bravo. Very few negatives. The waiter was attentive and delivered excellent service as did the support staff however he failed to offer the Dessert Soufflés when we ordered our entrees, as they take 30 minutes to make. I was sad to see it offerednon the dessert menu because after being there almost 2 hours I didn't want to make everyone wait another 30 minutes for my soufflé. The creme brulée was too sweet and had a praline flavor, that wasn't mentioned on the menu and wasn't what I expected. The restaurant decor needs updating. Usually I give that 5th star for the extra special something..like decor or live music. I hope to revise and give that extra star next time. And yes it's pricey. But not overpriced. Dane was an amazing waiter however our actual waiter was extremely slow and very rude towards my friends for no real reason. it was upsetting to overhear the manager verbally berating Dane who was the only waiter hustling and working hard in the entire restaurant. Dane tried numerous times to get even our waiter to take our order. I understand if they are short staffed but how rude the manager was in treating the employees and how rude our actual waiter was to me is shocking. I would strongly commend Dane for how hard was working he was the only redeeming quality for the restaurant. The food was above average I ate the Half chicken it was very flavorful but spicy. It has a romantic vibe but you don't have to worry about dress code. After all, it's in a casino and most of the clientele are there to enjoy something other than gambling. There is a pianist playing Jazz that kicks the evening off to a great start. There's 102 different Martinis, it's hard to decide. They have a Happy Hour every day from 4:30-6:30, which includes all their Martinis along with some munchies. Yum yum, been here once before. And if I can remember we had the lobster escargot and it was divine! This time we tried their sushi for an appetizer and we got the lady in red which was seared tuna and spicy tuna. Amazing. We definitely want to come here and try their sushi. I got the bay scallops for my entree. It was amazing and huge. I felt like I got my money's worth. Great sized portions and the price was normal for an all seafood dish here in Reno. Tried the mango and it was oh so good. - Seating: small tables up front, few couches, and a bar with a decent amount of seating down back - Entertainment value: piano player and singer. Bit cruise shippy but pleasant to listen to nonetheless. It wasn't too loud so the hub and I could have nice post-dinner date conversation. - Atmosphere: pretty well filled on a Friday night but not crowded to make it fun yet relaxing. - Snack menu: had some interesting items like duck carnitas. After our dinner 5-17-2018 at Basque, we decided to come to this bar for a night cap. Van, Myself, Donna and Michael H, were all in attendance. We choose a tall table across from the bar, away from the main bar area, where they had a live band playing. Music sounded really good, People were dancing and having a good time. But being that we just drove up from Sacramento, we opted for a more quiet, secluded area of the bar to mingle. We did not experience any of the food from the restaurant. Wow. What an experience. Drinks at the lounge the night before we're great as was the live music and dancing. Dinner the next evening was perfect. We had the ribeye which actually was the most average thing about the meal. We also had the filet minion, asparagus, potatoes and Caesar salad. Started with a happy hour martini at the bar ($5). The drink was a bit syrupy and I suspected that my drink order was wrong. I checked with the bartender but he insisted that it was correct. Someone from my party had the same drink and it didn't look like the same drink. The garnish was not even the same! I mentioned that and he changed the garnish with an annoyed expression. Changing the garnish does not make the drink correct! Service was quantity over quality. Other people from my party enjoyed their drinks but there were two bartenders working. Just saying. For dinner I ordered the short ribs. It came with pappardelle, my favorite pasta. The short rib was very tender but a little too salty for my taste. Generous portion and temperature was perfect. My water glass was always filled and I drank a lot of water. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food as well. Try the bacon bread (table bread)! The coffee Diablo was quite a show too! Décor is rustic elegant with raw brick and earthy wood. Live entertainment played. Staff were professional and friendly. Service was timely. Glasses were kept full. The server and manager checked in to see how everything was. The salmon was wonderful--I love it. The wedge salad was good and fresh. The bread pudding wasn't my fave.
