    Mussels Yakisoba
    Taylor D.

Been here twice, once last night, once a couple months ago. Above average avocado rolls. It was nice that they were serving food so late. Given we came in around ten thirty both times the mussels were decent too despite not fresh. Love this place!!! It's great considering how late it's open, I already enjoyed how they had it set up inside.

Our sushi bar experience with Chef Alan was excellent! Hamachi and salmon are our favorite and the onigiri were perfect! Kids meal was a very generous serving of yakisoba with a handful of nice crispy tofu on top. Kiddo loved the miso soup too. Great meal! Definitely recommend sitting at the sushi bar and having Alan make some sushi for you. Best sushi we've had aside from Akira!

this place has amazing interior decor. cute little pockets of different vibes and the mood lighting is great. the miso soup was great as well. the fish was excellent quality, probably the best salmon i've had in a while. you could hear people singing karaoke next door but still an enjoyable scene. i've been thinking about the salmon since i went here and i will be back!

Burnt katsu or not sure what it was meant to be actually

Ordered katsu ramen to go. The katsu was burnt and not even edible. The ramen broth was more like a miso than a ramen broth and couldn'teat that either. Waste of $

We love this place so much we have gone back several times! I don't remember the specific names of the rolls we got, but they were all amazing. The sushi is very fresh and the price is very reasonable. The staff is very friendly and is a great place to take kids or go for a date night. I highly recommend trying this place out!

    Beef Bento Box
    Mariah F.

Was craving some California rolls and always love the variety a bento box comes with. We got the beef one. Served over a bed of shredded cabbage. Side salad, rice, miso soup, 3 California rolls, & 2 pot stickers. I ordered for delivery and the food was still the perfect temperature! The soup was HOT, but at the point I could sip it comfortably. I was happy it wasn't cold upon arrival. I asked for no dressing on salad and it came just as I asked. Thank you! The California rolls were big, but they weren't sealed well so they wanted to unroll themselves so I had to pick them up and hold them together. But that's ok they were yummy and stuffed full. The rice was delicious with the beef and cabbage. The order came with a sauce in a small container- I assume for the potstickers? But unsure. Much lighter than the soy sauce. A single packet of soy sauce, chopsticks, and a couple napkins. Was perfect. The potstickers were really good. Not sure if it was pork or chicken inside- wish it had more info on what they used, but nonetheless they were good as well! The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because the beef had a little too much fat on nearly every piece. I get that it's used with a cheaper cut of beef, but I feel it always shows in the bento boxes unfortunately. Overall a good filling meal with leftovers, but definitely a bit disappointing to always see the flex and pieces of fat all over the meat. Luckily it wasn't chewy and had pretty good flavor. I like this restaurant and for $13 and some change for all this food I feel like it's pretty reasonable.

    Spoonful of Miso Soup

Really sad to be giving this 1 star because this used to be my favorite sushi spot, but it has really gone downhill over the years. I ordered takeout via UberEats and was very disappointed with the quality of food that I received. First off, I got maybe two spoonfuls of miso soup (view attached photo for a very sad sight). Secondly, the sushi was probably the worst I have ever had in my life... Philly roll was missing smoked salmon. There's only 3 ingredients in a Philly roll and one was missing! Lastly, deep fried rolls were somehow stale and something just didn't taste right with them. Didn't even end up finishing everything. Really wanted some comfort food and ended up more uncomfortable than ever.

so awesome! music was so good from the second we walked in, bangers the whole time. lighting and bar area is cute and the "booth" seats are like old bus seats with seat belts?! so cute. food was so good by itself, didn't need much soy sauce. happy hour is $1 SAKE SHOTS?!! UNBEATABLE. dinner for 2 was less than $40 with more than a 20% tip! staff were so nice and both servers offered water and help! will be coming back for sure :)

Note, this place is pricey but I heard good things about it. My kids ordered the duck and the steak, both which were wonderful. I decided to treat myself to the halibut which was $58. I have had halibut before it is such a buttery white fish. However, I was very disappointed by the lack of flavor- it was bland so I needed to add salt & pepper. It came on what appeared to be hummus with some nuts scattered over it and two small leaks cut down the middle and charred. Not what I expected for $58. Secondly, it was like someone boiled the fish- it was rubbery. This fish when cooked correctly is very moist and buttery. This one was not, and I mentioned it to our server. I said he needs to tell the chef that this is not a good representation of the dish. I thought I was going to be very excited about my meal but I was not. Our server said he would tell the chef. We paid and left. I noticed when we got home and I looked at the bill there was no consideration for my poor quality entree meal. Very disappointed that there was not a free dessert or anything compensation. This should not have been my experience on a $217 bill. Disappointed customer.

This isn't the place to bring a group. Inside is tight-there are two small low tables close by together and a narrow bar at one end with maybe 5 stools. There is an outdoor seating area but it was full today. Menu is fairly small. They have fish & chips, fish sandwiches, fish/shrimp salads and 3 types of grilled fish with rice. There are a few sides. There are also daily specials. We had a salmon sandwich with a side of fries and grilled yellowtail with rice which was the special for the day. The salmon sandwich (ordered no sauce or shredded cabbage) was good but nothing special. I'm sure the cabbage and tartar sauce would have given it a bit of zip. The fries were ok. The yellowtail didn't have much flavor until you out what tasted like a light teriyaki. It had brown rice which was nice & chewy and the sauce gave it flavor. You really have to cook fish with flavors like garlic, lemon or something to give it flavor. Service was really good. They were very willing to put things on the side or remove them. I don't think I'd go back. If it's nothing special, I'm not going to pay for a meal out.

We really appreciated the little things they did to help us celebrate- a little card on the table, a small complimentary glass of prosecco to toast, and a complimentary dessert. It was possibly the best cooked salmon I have ever had. And we each got two sides, though the sides seemed generous and one would've been plenty for each. We ended up taking home leftovers of just sides. I think it was the most expensive meal out my husband and I have ever had but we felt it was worth it for the special occasion. I would return here for another special celebration in the future.

The environment is lively, mostly because Taro is personable and we were able to see him create beautiful sushi dishes live while hearing him engage with the customers seated around him. It was actually really fun listening to his stories, and seeing how he is passionate about the food he makes. He was excited about the uni and was talking about how the fish he orders is from Spain and how he really wanted to order another great cut of fish. The food was delicious, even down to the house sodas they have. We ordered the summer margarita with fresh berries, lime soda, cold beet appetizer, veggie donburi, chef's choice spicy trio hand rolls, chocolate mochi blackberry cake - and at the end Taro gave us 2 nigiri on the house. The house lime soda - usually soda is nothing to blink an eye at, but the lime flavor was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. We were surprised by how good it was. The summer margarita was a delight, the alcohol and fresh summer flavors balanced perfectly so that neither overpowered the other. The beet appetizer was fun to try. Beets can sometimes be too earthy/muddy in flavor, but the nutty dressing paired with the salty, crunchy puffed chip paired well with the soft bites of beet. The veggie donburi bowl was much bigger than expected, and everything on it was good. The tempura tofu was well executed - silken tofu encased in a thin/crispy layer that tasted light and not greasy. The overall flavor of the bowl is akin to teriyaki, but less sweet and more of a deep umami and more smoky flavor. The handrolls had a good amount of fish to rice/topping ratio. The wasabi actually has some real wasabi in it, and the pickled ginger and soy sauce made every bite flavorful. Very filling. The fish were all fresh and tasted great. My partner who almost never eats meat couldn't resist and ate a piece of nigiri and loved it. The mochi chocolate cake was very unique and definitely worth trying. I find most chocolate cake too sweet with a generic cocoa powder flavor and too heavy. The texture of the cake is not too dense, but has a nice mochi bite to it while tasting a deep cacao flavor without it feeling too heavy. The sweet/richness is just right paired with bites of fresh blackberries. Honestly, may be the best dessert I've eaten so far this year. The interior is well decorated and pays homage to Akira the anime. The hostess who greeted us seemed stressed and it definitely showed on her face the whole night. But, our server was kind and attentive. Despite the handrolls taking ~20 mins to show up, the food was delicious and worth the wait. There is so much more to try on the menu. The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!

My drink of choice here is the Painkiller -- which is really well balanced and so delicious it's hard not to have a second.
