Honestly such a great price for lunch omikase $55! Came late but called ahead and they were very accommodating, I'm a big guy but honestly the food was pretty satiating and I like to not be super heavy in the middle of a work day. Ambiance was a little crowded but nothing major. The chef was awesome! Super friendly, explained the dishes, the scalp and amberjack was god tier! Will be coming back in the future

For my birthday, I usually hit a couple of different spots and this place was on my list. This place is operated as a true Omakase, so even though there is seating for a bunch of people, the actual service is limited to the counter, which for our seating had six people allowing for a very intimate experience. Everything here was fresh and elegantly, prepared. I also really appreciate experiences where I get the opportunity to learn more about the food that I'm eating, where it comes from, as well as watching how it gets prepared. Everything was delicious, and I think my favorite dish was the chef's creation as he gives you the opportunity at the end of the dinner to add additional dishes to the Omakase menu. For my birthday, the chef was kind enough to prepare a toast with sparkling sake for all of the patrons that evening, which made my birthday extra special, and for that I am exceedingly grateful. The whole experience was so wonderful from start to finish. I will definitely be back again.

This is a review for their omakase service, which is accessible and probably more relaxed than some. We brought our own wine and they were very accommodating. Staff proudly showed us the selection for the evening. Midway through, they dimmed the lights more for a little more vibes. Several standout pieces!

Went for the dinner omakase experience, and was thoroughly impressed with everything! Chef Tugu and Chef Jango prepared delicious pieces of sushi and I am so glad that I checked out the dinner omakase at Sushi Snob. My favorite La were probably the kanpachi and the uni. I can't wait to go back again!

I had the pleasure to dine here for their omakase experience and let me just say wow! I never had so much fun at a dinner before. It was a very intimate setting where we got to talk with the chefs and other patrons. We ordered the sake pairing as well which was interesting to see what it paired best with. I don't want to spoil too much but the fish was delicious and fresh. I'm still thinking about it even a few months later!

Definitely my favorite omakase to date, and it was my first true omakase with the chef right in front of you. Jango and the sake somelier were both wonderful, in explaining each fish/dish, the flavor, ingredient, region - anything and everything to help you understand and appreciate the cuisine. While pricey, I think it's perfectly priced for the experience you receive. Highly recommend.

Great spot for lunch and the interior has a welcoming vibe that you can sit there and chat with colleagues or friends. Good, fresh sushi and I recently tried their gyudon and liked it. Fast service too!

This is a great little sushi spot. The food is delicious and there's a great selection of traditional and specialty rolls. I haven't tried any of the entrees yet but I'm sure they wont dissappoint. The customer service is great.

Chef Jango just gets better and better every year! Get here for the omakase. Best in DC hands down.

Perfect for weekday lunch pickup. Two rolls for $10? Can't beat it. Their spicy tuna and avocado rolls are my fave.

The layout is interesting -- there's an upstairs when you walk in, but the sushi bar and a good bit of seating are downstairs. The menu is pretty straightforward with a mix of hand rolls, appetizers, specialty rolls, nigiri/sashimi, and traditional rolls. They also have a few solid combo deals, though I usually prefer trying a variety of items instead. Service was quick, which is always appreciated at a sushi spot. We ordered a few specialty rolls, two traditional rolls, and a couple orders of sashimi, all served together on one platter. The rolls were a great size -- filling without being overly large. The sashimi was fresh, and the traditional rolls really balanced out the meal nicely. The flounder and tuna sashimi were both excellent, and the California roll made with real crab was simple, fresh, and really satisfying. The total came out somewhere in the $70 range, so after tip and splitting it between two people, it was about $40 each to try multiple rolls and sashimi. Definitely fair pricing for the quality and amount of food. This spot had been on my list for a while, so I'm glad I finally made it over. I'd recommend checking out the menu beforehand so you can go in with a game plan and try the items that stand out most to you.

I ordered the 5 set hand roll with Hottie scallop, Kanpachi, Torch me slowly, Spicy salmon and Mango Tango. I loved the flavors of each one but the wrapping was tricky. Some of the rolls wouldn't come off because the wrapping had a lot of moisture so I ended up just eating it deconstructed. I prefer how Kazu Nori gives you each roll one at a time to prevent this. Overall great hand rolls but it's super messy so I'd give it a 3.8/5.

Making a dinner reservation on their online platform was a breeze and seamless. Try their Okimari Prix Fixe, as it comes with miso soup, a choice of a sashimi carpaccio, 10 pieces of premium nigiri, a choice of maki, and ice cream. There is also Gakyu Omakase specialties, where one is a sushi course and one is a fugu course (that is seasonal). They also have Signature Sushi Sets, in which the Edo Style Nigiri and the Gaku Sushi Assortment are recommended! We enjoyed the Chef's Langoustine Lobster roll and the Chef's Crunchy Spicy Tuna roll, several nigiris (Aburi-style), and the sushi sets. Other options include various soups, apps, and a la carte items. Service was kind, friendly, and attentive. Look for the Sushi Gaku sign/plaque, and go downstairs.
