It is much bigger, brighter, cleaner and nicer staff than the original location. Sorry...but it is true. The nice thing about this place is that you need to wait. You can grab a table pretty quickly and well grab your meal. The prices here are very affordable even if you max out with 20 plates....I've seen it done by one person...so yes it is posible! The sushi is pretty tasty with a lot of speciality rolls. My favorite item here isn't actually sushi, but their freaking cream puffs! Yes, cream puffs! They are like little pillows in your mouth. As a self-proclaimed sushi snob, I had real high hopes for a sushi place 5 minutes from my house. The place is super clean and operates very efficiently. Depending on time of day, the variety and selection varies wildly. If you go at an off time, you may starve to death before you find something on the belt that you like. The sushi itself was very much "OK". Not good enough to warrant 5 stars, but a solid 3 stars to be sure. I'm very fussy about the temperature and moisture level of my sushi and their sushi seems to be a bit warmer than I like and a bit dryer. Probably a result of the Kaitan method of delivery, which is fine. I just think it should be cooler and more moist. Will I go back? Of course. It's a good place to get a quick sushi lunch. I like me some Sushi Station. I enjoy that a giant conveyor belt runs around the tables and you get to open a door and grab what you want. The sushi isn't the best I've had and it's also not the worst. I like that the price is dictated by the plate color. I like that the portions are small and you only have to commit to a few pieces of something that you may have never tried. NOTE: Watch what time you go, it makes sense to have the belt packed with all sorts of varieties during heavy lunch rush. Not so much at say- 1:30. Waste not want not. Affordable Sushi!! This is main stream sushi. A location that looks to bring sushi to a crowd that's probably a little scared of raw fish. They have cooked chicken sushi, some vegetable sushi. The main benefit of Sushi Station is that it's cheap! I go with my boyfriend a lot, and we always end up paying less than $25. They have an innovative conveyor belt that goes around the whole restaurant that you can pull sushi items off of. The bad part of this is if you go on a day where it's not so busy, the conveyor sushi isn't always super fresh. Some rolls are also the same price as if you order them like Spyder rolls so you're better off ordering fresh sushi. I always love a good conveyer-belt sushi joint. We came at night on a Thursday and the place was packed. Had to sit right up on someone which kinda stinks, prefer having a one seat buffer, but hey, the people want sushi so you have to accept the crowd. The selection was decent, and the prices were moderately fair to expensive. I agree with most reviewers, be careful because plates will start to add up fast. I would say economically an all you can eat sushi place is a better bargain, however the novelty of this place, combined with excellent service makes this place worth the trip. read more

However, I continue to go back despite the bad experiences because of the prices and convenience of the conveyor belt. The sushi is all right. The service is all right. Everything is very average for me here. I do want to mention, if you go there an hour before they close don't bother waiting around on the belt to come around with your choice of sushi. If it's not there, just order it. I had made the mistake of waiting around , then I finally said something to my server and he told me that, they don't put anything new out an hour before they close. Then other people were sat around me, and they made the same mistake as I did. They serve mainly MAKI rolls here which are good, but those who are a fan of sushi (fish on rice) and sashimi (just the fish) you won't find much of that here. This is my most favorite sushi restaurant....ever! My family and I have been going to the Rolling Meadows and Elgin location for years. Their San Diego roll, spicy tuna, spider roll and seaweed salad are just a few of my favorites. I love everything I have ordered. I have been to many sushi restaurants around the country and sushi station tops them all. The atmosphere is terrific with music that makes me dance in my seat while I eat. The staff and management are courteous, attentive and give great service. One of the managers always says hello when he sees my family which means a lot. I love sushi station I must say it's one of the first places I've ever gone to try sushi, so it was my test drive into the sushi world. Since Ive tried sushi station I've also gone to other countless sushi bars. Most of them were of higher quality, flavor, and much more expensive. But I still enjoy going to this wonderful station because its affordable and I've never had anything bad. Ive never had anything that was gross or spoiled. just consistant enjoyment. I saw someone say this is the McDonald's of Sushi, and I think they are correct. It is cheap because there is cheaper quality, but it does not cut from the taste in my opinion, and with the economy how it is right now, it is something special to be able to enjoy a meal without having to spend an arm and a leg. It's very easy to keep track of how much you are spending by looking at the color of the conveyor belt plates. But if you wish for something that is not on the belt, then simply order off their menu. I really do enjoy their teryaki Chicken and my favorite roll is the Hanaku roll (yummy!). My BF loves the Godzilla roll. I always ask for unagi sauce on the side, its super tasty, try it! It's a bit like a teryaki sauce, but I feel its a little sweeter, I think it goes really well with a lot of the rolls they have. My complaint is that I kept watching the same food going around over and over again on the more expensive colored plates. Finally, the lady next to me asked the waitress....if there was going to be any more food. The waitress responded no because it's 1pm. I had no idea they stop adding to the conveyer belt at a certain time..... therefore, I spent a good 15mins just starring at chocolate cupcakes! When I ordered from the menu, it was nothing to really write home about. I've had much better, cheaper, filling sushi at other locations. I got a coke, soup, tuna/spicey salmon roll, and 2 fresh shrimps for $15 plus tip for the bad waiter. I would still go back because it was fun, but wasn't too crazy about it. read more

The best thing about sishi station is the fact that most of the sushi is readily available on the moving belt. So, as soon as you sit on your table, you can start eating without having to wait regardless of how full the restaurant is. So, it's like a sushi express restaurant except that the sushi is of high quality. What I love the best from this place is the seared albacore, magma roll, and the spicy version of station roll. Menu (7/10) As far as sushi is concerned, they're fairly good, but it doesn't have the fancy ones that traditional sushi restaurants sell. They also don't offer a lot of other Japanese dishes. They, however, offer several dishes and desserts that don't normally be offered in a Japanese restaurant, such as Flan, Potato Salad, Croquette, etc. Price (8/10) You can easily spend a lot of money here if you don't know how to constraint yourself since the sushi platters are always within reach, literally. Once, I spent close to $80 for 2 without ordering drink. For comparison, in a traditional sushi restaurant, I usually spend around $60. But if you eat a little slower and let the food set in your stomach, you can reduce your spending down to what you usually spend in other sushi restaurants. Ambiance (9/10) Bright, spacey, and clean in the Elgin restaurant. My only complaint is that the high chairs for younger kids are too low and they have to put one on top of the other. I'm just concerned about the safety of doing that. The score above is for that Elgin location. The one in Rolling Meadows is about a quarter the size of the Elgin branch and is really packed. The score for this second location is 6. Service (10/10) I never have any problem with service. They employ enough waiters and waitresses to keep all customers happy. They refill my drink on time and ask me often enough if I want to special order something from the kitchen. Location (7/10) Elgin location is closer to my place, but the drive there can be a total nightmare during rush hour. The drive to the Rolling Meadows location is usually a little better most of the time, but the distance is greater. We usually end up in the Elgin location since everything else is better there. First time dining at Sushi Station & will definitely go back. Very wide selection of fresh sushi. Our server, Arnold, was very pleasant, knowledgeable & helpful to explain the revolving plates process to us. It was fun to see the chef's sushi artwork gliding by on the conveyor. You've got to be quick to get the plate you want before it moves to the next station. So be sure to watch what is coming or you will miss out! I enjoyed almost everything we ordered. I have to say that their ginger was amazing! Since I've moved to Schaumburg I've been looking for a rotating sushi bar, and lucky me I finally found one in Elgin! As I watched the many different sushi pass by on the conveyer belt, my eyes were growing wider with delight. My husband and I come here regularly at least once a month, sometimes three times a month, and we live 45 minutes away! The conveyor belt sushi style is so fun. Staff is always friendly and attentive, will order any rolls in a full size fresh order. Most of the time I don't even realize that they have swooped by and filled my water and removed the plate lids. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is we have to be realistic about the sushi quality. They produce a lot of sushi that rotates and sometimes sits for a while on the belt. There have been a handful of times where the chopped tuna in the rolls is mushy and turns us off sushi for a while. But for the most part, sushi station has a selection of rolls that are tasty and fresh. We have only been eating sushi for about 2 years, so the prices make it easy to try a small plate of something new like nigiri. I also have a small complaint that ordering out took a reeeally long time, although the staff were really kind about it. Suggestions: -Phoenix roll, which is spicy chopped tuna and masago. With crunchy tempura crumbs on top. -Hanako and spicy Hanako. Crab, green onion, cream cheese, and teriyaki sauce. -veggie rolls and California rolls are always fresh and delicious. -San Diego, which is salmon, cucumber, tempura crumbs, and spicy sriracha mayo. -arrive at peak hours for the best selection, although you might have a long wait time as the lobby is usually packed full. Don't suggest: shrimp tempura roll or spider roll, as they taste not fresh, lack flavor, and usually come on the more expensive plates. Haven't tried it but i notice people are always grabbing for the salmon and mackerel nigiri. Overall, a great place to eat sushi. The best times to come for the best selection are right at lunch or dinner time, but you can order whatever you want from the menu at any time. The place is huge, so seating is never a problem. However, what surprises me is how many people go to Sushi Station and then don't eat sushi! They don't want raw fish, so they get rolls. Folks, sushi is great. Most people object to the texture of the fish or think that it will taste "fishy". Fresh and well-prepared sushi doesn't taste or smell "fishy." Start with salmon, tuna and shrimp. Dip them in the soy sauce that they provide, and for more flavor, add a little wasabi (green horseradish) to the soy sauce (not too much, because wasabi is spicy). Just try it. read more

The reason I give Sushi station 5 stars is the quality of food you get for the price. I have never had poor tasting food, a bad experience or poor service here. The staff is great and seems to be managed very well, the sushi is freshly filled on the belt and if we are ever looking for something that's not on the belt, the waitstaff never hesitates to ask! I have had both carry-out and dine-in experiences here and all have been perfect. Sushi station is a great place to try new flavors, rolls and Asian dishes. My best friend and I come here quite frequently. Now that she is moving to Boston I'm not sure how much I'll come :( I have been here several times...and I significantly dislike the fact that they are closed between 2 and 4, since my best friend does not get off work until 1:10. Every time we get there, most of the sushi bar is depleted, and if it isn't, it sure isn't fresh anymore. We usually just order off the menu because of the depleted sushi bar. Their fresh sushi is delicious. I love the godzilla roll lunch special! And the garlic mushrooms are AMAZING!! If I ever make a new best friend, I shall return. :( read more
