Great sushi spot!! It's tucked in the corner of the complex, can't believe I never knew about this place. The restaurant itself is very clean and nice interior. The staff sat us down quickly and were attentive. Menu has a huge sushi selection, a lot of options for those that don't like raw fish as well My husband got the chicken katsu bento: comes with rice, salad, gyoza and I believe he asked for spicy California roll along with it. Great price and portion for this lunch deal! I ordered the salmon nigiri sampler which comes with 5 pieces of salmon a variety of different cuts and I requested hamachi nigiri as well. Ohana (family) in town for a visit and the first place we thought of to dine was Sushi Today. We originally thought Mexican fare, but seeing as we hadn't visited any Mexican restaurants in the five years we've been away from the Renton area, we finalized our choice to: Sushi Today. Besides, family was coming in at SeaTac and we recently moved back to the Renton/Kent/Tukwila area so with the use of GPS, they'd be able to find the restaurant. We met together at the same time. The restaurant has changed considerably. Previously the menu included Korean dishes, but with new management, Korean fare was removed from the menu, much to our surprise. The Kalbi/Bulgogi was excellent and we would order a Bento-style box meal which included the Korean specialties. Though somewhat disappointed, the new menu provided so many new sushi choices, we were distracted from the missing preparations. The Sushi/Sashimi platter was our first order, to give us more time to peruse the great looking menu. Our initial order arrived which appeared so enticing with the fresh (raw) portions of buttery salmon, tuna, Ahi, Nigiri and a California Roll. Excellent! Then came the Sweet Dreams & Sounder rolls and Ikura (2-pieces) and a Special Agent roll. Least I forget to mention Asahi bottled beer (regular & non-alcoholic) to round off the meal. Due to not having the Korean ingredients, only four stars this time. The ambiance of the restaurant seems to have changed over the years. There were perhaps 10-12 other diners whereas during our previous visits the restaurant would be crowded and bustling with a cacophony of voices discussing menu choices. It was 5:00PM on a Saturday evening and crowds were usually expected. Service was excellent, the waiter was patient and provided lots of information about the new ownership & menu. The sashimi was fresh & tasty and sushi rolls were expertly prepared. Sushi Today continues to be highly recommended if you're in the Renton area. read more

What I liked is that for the bento you could choose the SAC (salmon avocado cucumber) roll in place of an item. Everything was okay-good, if that makes sense. Because it was takeout, i think it ends up being a little pricier vs eating in. I recommend this spot for eating in, not take out. Great place that takes their sushi seriously as an art. We frequented this place and weee regulars when it first opened. The pandemic was difficult on businesses like this and as things started opening back up the original owners sold the business. The menu basically remained but small changes in service kind of turned us away. Still the sushi is quality and very fresh and I regard them as a great place to go. We were often visit Sushi Today last Summer to Fall. However, both of us were surgery & infusion last 6 months. We visited today. Order Sushi Deluxe. Sushi 10 pcs were excellent But, hamachi roll 10 pcs was too spicy. Including Korean Hot Miso Spicy & jalapeño. It was very hot pepper Spicy. I could not eat. Leaf 7 rolls. Wasted Not Good. I could eat Hot Chilli But Jalapeño is terribly. Why? I have ask Mexican Chef? He said because Owner is Korean. It does not make a sense. Very Bad Reason! The family and I were just back from a cruise and had an overnight stay at a local hotel before heading to the airport. For dinner, we were interested in something we would all enjoy and sushi is always something we're up for. I took to Yelp to see what options were nearby and came across Sushi Today. We grabbed an Uber and head straight there. From the outside it seems like any other location in a strip mall, but we knew something special was here based on the reviews and menu items. My husband and I really enjoy and KNOW sushi and we were both so happy with our experience. Although the place is unassuming from the outside, everything about our meal was exceptional. Great sushi option if you're craving sushi between 12-5 when most other sushi places are closed. I went here twice, ordered the same entreé, and enjoyed it both times, but I was confused because what they served was slightly different. I ordered the Sashimi lunch and the first time, it didn't come with rice or octopus. The second time I ordered it, I got rice and one piece of octopus. Though the fish was really good, I wish it was more consistent! The bento box overall was nothing extraordinary, not amazing but overall a solid option regardless (still good). I was skeptical. I think a lot of bias entered my brain from the location (looks more of an commercial area with many of the same beige colored buildings, not a neighborhood I associate with great food, and it was an older strip mall that looked dated) to the straight forward name. I knew it wasn't fair and could immediately sense undesired pretentiousness creep in my skull and I'm so glad I pushed it away because this place is a gem. Inside I very much enjoyed the decor. I found myself looking at the art on the wall and enjoying the stylistic fish. We were immediately greeted and seated and presented a menu that would challenge anyone to find only one thing to eat. Their selection is extensive! Then there's all the specials on the board which is equally extensive! There was a ton of variety. The food was exquisite. The agedashi tofu was amazing. The nigiri spectacular. I ordered the Playboy roll and while it's basically a California roll with tuna let's face it - there's many horrible examples of California rolls. This is an example of the pinnacle - it was amazing! I still was recovering from mouth surgery and had no difficulty eating this roll. The seaweed was easy to chew. The flavors popped. I ate without pain. I also had the seared yellowtail. I posted a picture. It does it no justice. I'm not sure what magic they employ to create that dish because when it arrived I hesitated. I thought it looked dry. It looked thin. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to chew it. Then I ate it and was shocked how moist it was, how it fell apart in my mouth, tender explosion of flavor! Brilliant! To make this whole experience the best was we had an amazing waitress. She was super pleasant, attentive, and personable. She made suggestions that were amazing.
