The sushi and options are GREAT!! Service was amazing. Tentative servers waiting to take your next order. Fast. The only thing I didn't like is how big the cuts of sushi were. If I come back I'd definitely ask them to cut smaller. But other than that it was ALL GOOD IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!! read more

I've been here a few times and every single time it was superb. I knew from the first time this was one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had. I had the all you can eat sushi, and it was great. Probably over did it with the amount it rolls I had (4)!!! Never again lol. You know it's real sushi when everyone that works there is Japanese and it definitely shows. I've tried places all over Kane, McHenry and Boone county, this is my fav Sushi place (next to Spider Sushi in Rockford on South Perryville road which has a Latin flare to it which is why I like it). Sushi U is tied for first place on my list of fav sushi places in the northwest suburbs. If you didn't know where it was you'd miss it, it's a small place but the food has big personality. I came here with myself and with my kids many many times. One of my kids eats like two bites and she's full. So I had them share all you can eat. They have let me share an all you can eat. Now they said it was not allowed, I replied, "I've had it done before many times over" she was rude and said no. Okay, expected it.... Because of this distraction. I let it go.... This is now what happened... now this cook in the back is staring me and my kids down while we eat. It's so disturbing! It's so uncomfortable! I keep having the lady (server) come talk to me loudly, while I have these other girls in another booth get quiet so they can ease drop. I feel like crying, I am a private person, not a "Karen" that this society always makes out people to be. I didn't get loud or complain. I just stated I had it done before and dropped it. Honestly was so excited to find that this new sushi place was AYCE. Usually you go into those and they have a specific menu but this was very much just order any appetizer, nigiri/sushi pieces, sushi makis and rolls. I loved the service from the get go we went during lunch and it was getting pretty busy for a Friday. They give you several options for seating, and they gave me the whole tea pot when I got hot tea. Definitively recommend they also have other options I was eyeing the other tables bento boxes looked fire. Highly recommend probably the best sushi I've had in the crystal lake - Algonquin area. However I think the ratio for sashimi to rice for the sushi/nigiri pieces wasn't great. It was a lot of rice to take in so definitely recommend the rolls over sushi. read more

We came for the all you can eat sushi but some of us ordered off the menu as well. Daughter had the ramen and said it was good. I had the spicy salmon poke bowl which was very tasty! The place is small so it filled up quick. It was a cooler night so the door opening and closing made the place a little chillier than we liked. read more

Went here for lunch by myself on a Wednesday afternoon. I was surprised there was 1 larger group of 6 sat and 2 other 2 tops. One lady was serving all the tables and packing togos. She had one other lady helping her that seemed to still be learning the ropes and was mainly just cleaning off tables as people left. Very friendly and quick service for being on her own, delivering food, packing togos orders and handing them out, taking orders, filling drinks without assistance. My only complaint was my first order of spring rolls was still cold and icy in the middle but it was taken care of quickly and I was brought new ones. Food was fresh and tasty. The rolls had a bit more rice than I would expect but my husband always says that they do that for the all you can eat places to fill you up faster. While I was eating 2 other tables came in and service was still kept up with. Wonderful job to that server and I'll definitely be back. read more

Maki rolls were spicy tuna, salmon avocado and eel avocado. Also miso soup and salad. All wonderful quality. Fresh, flavorful with good portion sizes. Nice presentation. Really great sushi-especially at the price point! Fun time with the drink I got. Japanese soda bottle, close to sprite in taste.
