The best thing Sushi Up has to offer - you can get 3 smaller rolls (4 or 5 piece) for the same price as 1 at most places. This gives an opportunity to try a little of many different things, which I'm a big fan of. Service was very friendly and attentive. As for the food itself, not blown away by any means but definitely decent. I'm not the biggest fan of crab salad and many of the rolls do seem to have that. And I wish they offered a little more in the way of tuna. The Happy Roll, Orem Roll, and Sunshine Roll were some of the favorites in our group. read more

Sushi Up is a little comfy casual sushi shop. One of my favorite things there is that the chef literally is the guy on their logo. Super cute! I love all the options it offers. I suffer from this rare disease called decision paralysis and it tends to flare up when I go to Sushi Up because of all the many options there. There are SO MANY GOOD OPTIONS! Luckily, their sushi is 3 for $12 on the daily, so I get at least 3 rolls in! My favorite are the monkey brain and the baked salmon. Both very different! This last time, I got the sashimi bowl and it was delish, jam packed with healthy goodness. I felt so good eating it! I would totally do it again! We also had the teriyaki bowl, which has a more subtle taste than others I've had, but pleasant. Our kiddos also love boba!!! They can't get enough of the mango and taro ones. The strawberry is a bit sweeter than we like. The place is wheelchair accessible, except no direct ramp in front of the restaurant, but rather farther down the strip. The menu is currently a bit different (more expensive at $15.99 per 3 items) than the pictures on Yelp but the food was delicious! We gota sort of 5 course meals for $20 that included a delicious salad with an incredible house dressing, a miso soup, a mix of vegetable and shrimp tempura, two half-sushi rolls, a delicious roasted piece of fish and an option of: spicy pork and rice, teriyaki chicken and rice, or a sashimi bowl (must be two people at the table who order). I did order one additional half roll but it was PLENTY of food and everything was delicious! It wasn't 5 star sushi (but honestly it was as good as anything I've had in Utah County). A friend and I tried Sushi Up for lunch today and it was really good!!! We have been searching for the best Sushi in our area and this place is up there I think!!! The service was slower, but it looked like the poor waitresses were just running around like crazy!!! However, they were both so sweet!!! I loved all the rolls we tried, but my favorites were the Happy Roll, Sake Roll, and Rocky Roll!!! The restaurant was very clean and open and the fish was very fresh!!! (Disclaimer: I don't mean to say this special room is one like the ones in insane asylums where people are tied in a straight jacket so they don't hurt themselves. I am in town on a business trip and needed to pick a place that was on the way to my hotel for a friend to pick up. I called in to place my order and was asked why I didn't just order online. I was asked to hang up and order online and call back if there were issues. Odd to me but it was fine. I placed my order and it said 15 minutes. My friend got there at the 20 minute mark because from the time I placed the order to when they got into my hotel room, it was a total of 25 minutes. When they picked up they were greeted with "finally you are here" and rude comments about how it took them so long to pick up my order. I then realized that they did not give my friends the boba I ordered so I called and let them know I am here on business and do not have a car, is there a way I could be reimbursed for the boba since I can't come back to the restaurant. I was told they could but I had to come in in order to do so because they couldn't reimburse things from their online system. My friends husband was super nice and went back to the restaurant to just pick up the drink. The boba was a bit strange. It was a thick smoothie that trapped a bunch of sweet liquid at the bottom of the cup with the boba. I love smoothies, boba, and milk teas and could only get myself to power through a little less than 1/4 of the drink. The sushi was okay. Very reminiscent of buying rolls at a Safeway/ grocery store. Came here one day to find that the owner is the mother of a family friend, so that was a pleasant surprise. Apart from that, I liked this place. It's a great choice for sushi if you want a good value for what you get, and some variety as well. Their rolls are smaller, but you can get several for a good price, which allows you to try a greater variety than most other sushi places where you're paying $10-$15 for a full roll. In summary if you don't want to read my whole review: My husband and I left feeling satisfied and happy. The rolls have less variety than other places, but we will definitely be back for nigiri and to try some of the other hand rolls. We went on a Friday night at about 5:30. We were quickly seated. Received our drinks just as quickly. After looking over the menu my husband ordered 3 rolls, Dragon, TnT, and Elvis, and I ordered Orem, Jalapeno, and Soo. I was surprised by all of my rolls. I did not expect the jalapeno roll to actually come IN a jalapeño, I obviously didn't take time to read the full description. Like instead of nori, there's a fresh jalapeno wrapped around it. Very hard to eat, but also very tasty. The piece in the tip of the jalapeno was a bit hot. I didn't read any of the descriptions well and my other two rolls came with *fried* salmon, not fresh, raw deliciousness. It wasn't bad but wasn't my preference, it made the roll a little dry and left me longing for some tender raw fish. Elvis was a basic roll, but deep fried. Extremely large in diameter. Dragon was delicious with that bit of eel on top. But of his rolls, I liked TnT the best. That bit of grill flavor it has is amazing. We were still hungry (we usually go to AhiMuse for all you can eat sushi) so we ordered the Oregon roll, which was good, the raw salmon on it was SO tender. I might get sashimi next time because that texture was amazing. But where this place really shines is their nigiri!! Best nigiri we've had. Large flavorful pieces of fish on a reasonable size of rice. We got red snapper and BBQ eel. I love eel. I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. I also got a Strawberry boba smoothie, which was good, I heard some teen boys ordering mixed (mango and strawberry) smoothies, so I'll probably do that next time. Service was extremely fast, my husband tipped more than usual because of that. They kept the drinks filled, and the food was good. I wish they'd give more ginger though. read more

I have been to sushi restaurants all over the US and this is my FAVORITE!! The sashimi and nigiri are the most mouth watering, buttery, delicate slices of fish I have ever tasted. I cry each time I get the salmon and I'm usually a tuna girl! The cuts are perfectly scored, the nigiri is perfectly proportioned with the rice so each bite is perfection especially with a dab of perfectly balanced wasabi, rich well bodied house made soy sauce, and sushi rice with the perfect amount of vinegar, sweet, and sesame. The miso is perfect. I don't understand how the restaurant isn't packed full at all times, but we also enjoy the privacy! But this place deserves all the hype!!! It completely blows all nearby sushi restaurants out of the water! AND WAY BETTER PRICES!!! I worked at tsunami for two years and they have great specialty rolls, but as far as the fish itself, the chefs at Sushi Up know what they're doing! On our journey to this establishment, we ordered two combos and a special roll, and watched as multiple orders for people who came in way after us (we saw many of them get sat) get their food. This is mine and my friends favorite sushi place. We typically come every Friday and have the fastest service. We are in and out in like 25 minute. They are always so kind and have great service. We love coming here and have been coming for a couple months now every Friday! We did however go specifically today on June 3rd Thursday different than our normal Fridays. And there were different employees than normal. These employees took a little longer for service and everything felt rushed. They kept coming to our table an unusual amount of time more than they needed and it just felt like they were trying to get us to leave. They were young girls who kept staring at us the whole visit. It was just strange. The restaurant wasn't busy and we clean up our table and organized every time we come. Definitely recommend coming Fridays but not Thursday's because of the different staff. read more

This restaurant is really amazing! The food was amazing and they had so many different options. The sushi eaters in my family really enjoyed all the fish options saying that it was really fresh and delicious and beautifully crafted! I myself enjoyed the vegetarian options! I've lived most of my life right on the coast so I'm used to good seafood. Of course I was a little skeptical of this place, knowing that there are so many "meh" sushi places in Utah. However, I was very happily surprised to find that not only did we get to choose three rolls from an extremely long menu for only $10, but that they were actually quite delicious! The crunchy California is my favorite at this point, and everything I've sampled so far just makes me want to try all the others on the menu! They say "you get what you pay for", so I was hesitant to try to 3 rolls for $9.99 because I assumed they would all just be crappy California rolls. To quite the surprise, they have a full menu of probably around 30 rolls to choose from, and they are all very well made and they are not skimpy at all. Since my first experience with the salmoncado, Hollywood and rainbow, all of which were great, I've come a handful of times and have been happy with my experience each time. They play a lot of orchestral Disney, which is fun. It is a very unassuming spot, and much better food than the former Chinese restaurant that was in the location before. Don't plan to get full on the 3-rolls deal, unless you are little and have a smaller appetite, but this makes for a great lunch deal! read more

A delicious and quick spot that is new to the Orem sushi game! We stopped in to try the 3 rolls for 9.99 and they did not disappoint. The sushi was marginally fresh (about as fresh as the competing sushi spots around here) and service was very quick. They have a large menu with lots of different items, sushi and beyond, so there's room for change every trip you come. The space here is very large and accommodating to intimate duos, large groups, or single individuals. No beer or wine, and very limited soda options. tldr - Service was the worst. Didn't get all my order, and what did come out took 5x the usual it took in the past. Waitress was spacey and inattentive. Their new special sauce that is now added to most rolls is vinegar and hot chili paste, maybe mixed with something bitter that takes over the taste of the roll. I've loved this place since it opened. it was a nice place, casual, family friendly, and a lot of options for a decent price. i could get a variety of smaller rolls, wife wife could do the same, and then the kids could do a bit of sushi, and then sides as well. Well, its look like they are giving the appearance of going upscale, but lower the assortment of rolls to choose from, raise the price of the meals, and give you less. Worst was my last visit. Not too crowded, but I waited a long time to be seated. Waitress hands me a menu and if I would like anything to drink. I asked for water as many do, and she left for a long time, disappeared, then hanging out with the sushi chef, then moving napkins around. After finally comes to take my order, with no drink. After I order, I wait another long time, waitress again fidgeting at the counter, moving unused bowls around. I ordered the full meal, so I kinda expected things to come out a bit at a time. Salad, potstickers, sushi, entree and soup. Everything comes at once after a long long time but the miso soup, and still no water. I try to be patient and not say anything. Halfway done, she brings the water, no apology, no appreciation for my patience, just "and here is your water". She eventually brings out the check and I ask about the soup. Again no apology, just 'and the soup'. I eat slowly, hoping it will eventually come, but then I see her back to folding napkins, getting water refills for other, changing the direction of the chopsticks on another table. I can see she forgot about the soup, and even eye contact does not jar her memory. Not even when I go to pay my bill. Now to the sushi. They seem to have gotten into the habit of adding some special sauce to most of their rolls. Can't remember its name, but it is awful. I think it is vinegar, some bitter herbs, and straight hot chili paste. I can take hot, but none of the rest of my family can eat any rolls with it. It just takes over the taste of anything else. I have never sen this sauce unless you ask for straight siracha or chili paste. Weirdest part of the experience. There was a kid all in black, super short hair, going back and forth between the back kitchen and outside. He is never carrying anything out or back in. Just makes the determined stroll 5-6 time while I was there. I don't see me or my family ever making that short neighborhood trip again. Sad. read more
