Me and my husband are a big fan of Sushi. Before Covid, we used to come here almost every other week and loved the Appetizers and Sushi rolls. They used too be too good. I have been thinking of writing a review ever since. I would have given 5 stars back then. Now after almost 6-7 months, we went again but this time we didn't like the rolls, appetizers were so-so too. Rolls were a bit bland and I couldn't tell the difference between the rolls. honestly, it wasn't bad! the price is comparable to many other ayce sushi restaurants in chicago. my boyfriend and i enjoyed the miso soup and the kani salad. the white tuna was also really buttery. the crab rangoons could've had a bit more filling though. everyone was kind and friendly, especially our waitress! she was super attentive and checked in on us often. although it wouldn't be my first pick, it's definitely one of the better options for the area. overall, there are much better and much worse options out there. we would come back if we didn't want to drive out to the suburbs / the city and really wanted ayce sushi. read more

Great sushi on par with good appetizer. I actually think the appetizer was the more surprising part of the meal. It comes out pretty fast and taste incredibly delicious. My favorite one was the shumai dim sum Service can be was slow there. I wanted to order before or when I finish my plate but they took a bit too much time to get another order going. Great because you don't fill up on rice like other places. Sushi rolls - Very tasty. I recommend the snow monster if you like white tuna and cilantro. Light and fresh. They also have alternative rolls like fried chicken or tempura steak for ones who do not eat fish. Apps - Again good quality. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I really wanted to like this place as I'm a sucker for AYCE sushi places. This place just fell a bit short on performance, but not for lack of trying. From the minute I walked in, there was a guy who helped seat us and was hustling around the dining room all night trying to get customers situated and help take orders. He was the rock star of the team. We put in our order and only waited about 20 minutes for our first plate of sushi to start arriving - which I thought was great timing considering the dining room was full and it was a Friday night. I was excited especially to try the sushi here because it's one of the few AYCE places that offers a sashimi option! For every 1 specialty roll you order, you can order 3 pieces of sashimi. We took advantage of this deal to test out the variety of fish and rolls to make the most of our first trip here. I actually really enjoyed the specialty rolls we got, especially the Dragon on Fire and Crazy Salmon roll. The portions of fish/rice were appropriate and the rolls were not too big allowing us to sample more variety of sushi. Unfortunately, most of the sashimi options were a let down - the salmon and quid sashimi was sized appropriately but the other sashimi we chose such as tamago, white tuna, and hamachi were very very thin slices. Having such thin slices of sashimi really detracts from the experience of eating fish by itself as you could barely taste it in the bite. As the sashimi was the unique selling point of this restaurant, I don't see myself coming back since I can find similar/higher quality rolls elsewhere and with a larger appetizer menu. For the price, the menu is a good deal especially for diners who may not be interested in a wider variety of apps and are just in it for the rolls alone. read more

This was one of the first spots we visited for Dining in almost a year & what a great choice it was!! First thing I noticed was how nicely spaced out everyone was and we were able to be seated right away. All the staff wore masks & were following cdc guidelines. We came for the $23 all you can eat dinner....and boy were they generous in their portions. Everything was absolutely delicious & I'll be honest my eyes were hungrier than my stomach! I wasn't able to finish my whole order and just a heads up there is a charge for unfinished food....so pace yourselves. Every roll we got was so good & so fresh! The only downside was they did forget my nieces appetizers but they came out fairly quickly once we mentioned that we didn't get them. This all you can eat sushi buffet is surprisingly good. I feared there would be giant rolls filled with soggy rice, but that was not the case at all. The sushi rice was perfectly cooked and well proportioned. The fish and vegetables were fresh. Presentation was lovely. Our first order came on a cute wooden boat. Our subsequent orders came on plates, but at that point we only cared about the food. The service was prompt, not like other AYCE places that make you wait a long time in between platters. If it's your first time dining here, READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY! There is a limit on pieces of sashimi allowed based on number of special rolls ordered. More importantly, there is a charge for uneaten sushi and rice. This makes for a very awkward conversation for newbies who didn't read the very large print at the top of each menu. We started off with 1 special roll and 3 sashimi per person. We ordered it all on the same white order sheet so it would come together on one big platter. Most rolls are 8 pieces, so it worked out perfectly for our party of 4. We then reordered our favorites or tasted new ones. I believe we ordered 4 rounds, with the orders getting smaller each time - corresponding to the amount of space left in our bellies. The final round was just 1 steak tempura maki (meh - skip it, barely any steak and a HUGE chunk of pickle) and a scoop of ice cream per person. We left pleasantly full and went straight to the nearby sculpture park to walk off some calories. We noticed that there is a large table in the back that would be perfect for small parties. $22.99 per person isn't bad. Picky eaters can fill out their own paper and dine individually vs. family style. The staff was friendly and the bathroom clean. Water glasses were kept full and plates were cleared promptly. The parking spaces right in front have a 2 hour limit, but that should be sufficient. If not, drive further into the lot and park near the Filipino bakery for as long as you like. read more

Simply amazing. The unlimited sushi deal is quite the C steal and if it weren't for Covid, I'd be here nearly every weekend getting it. Most unlimited sushi places limit the menu for what can be ordered but not here! The Entire menu is on the unlimited deal. The Sushi was fresh and not over powered by rice. However, all of the sushi in sushi world are smaller in size which is ideal for ayce..you get to sample different rolls!!! Instead of stuffing yourself with rice One negative is their appetizers are mostly fried -- thus I miss my steamed Shumai...(pro tip: next time you order steam Shumai...stick 3 of em in 1 chopstick like kabob style..it will taste 10 times better) This visit totally exceeded my expectations and for sure I will be back soon. read more

Enjoyed coming here! Arrived on a sunday night. It wasn't too busy but there were some bigger family groups having their dinner too. The resturant is vibrant with its neon signs and lights. We were greeted by the friendly staff and seated right away. Since they charge for what you don't eat, we made sure to order in waves of food, starting with appetizers. The yakitori had had a great sauce on it but was on the dry side. The seaweed salad was also good but a bit oily. For me, the best sushi we got was the Shrimp Lover roll and the Godzilla Roll. I don't think any of the roll were bad but I just like some more than others. There wasn't a ton of rice on the rolls nor were they over burdened by sauce. I liked that the rolls weren't too big becuase I was interested in eating a variety of different rolls while I was there. One of my favorite things was the sesame balls, which is listed as an appetizer but I got for my desert. They're about 2 cm in size of a mochi ball covered in sesame seeds and filled with black(?) bean. I really loved these and wish I got a bunch more but I was so full. The green tea ice cream wasn't too bad either. Overall, I'd like to come here again and I'm looking forward to coming back. I'm already thinking of all the things I want to get! read more

Heard this was my friends 'go to' spot for sushi, so when hungry on a Saturday, why not check it out? Kids under 2 are free, otherwise I think they're $6.99, Adults are 21.95 (apparently the standard price now for AYCE's in Chicago area). lunch price is cheaper, I think $16.95. after perusing the menu, seems like a deal since normally their signature rolls are about $12-14 each. (I thought who in their right mind would order ala carte when AYCE is part of their business name?). We noticed that other customers brought in their own wine and beer and liquor. Appears to be a BYOB as well which scores points, but I honestly have never really brought my own booze to one of these to partake of it. We arrived at 5:20pm on a Saturday with the restaurant about 60% full. As we went on it eventually reached about 80% capacity. The staff if pretty friendly, though I would note that the friendly service was not exactly efficient. They were holding my sushi until we finished our appetizers - it's not a fancy place guys,zero give me my fish! . The host would help set the orders on the bar area, but then they would just sit there I'd say minimum 10 more mins as the two servers raced about clearing tables, drinks, orders, and I'd really like to see their fitbits to see how many steps they took because they were constantly on the move. As with all sushi AYCE's, they have you fill out a form and the server takes it for the sushi chefs. Perhaps if they implemented a process to just let the tables dropped off the sheets and a number system for the tables it would speed service. The quality was pretty good our salmon nigiri was well-marbled and looked cute. Cute bite-sized pieces, I think we underestimated the size. I like the cute sizes of the rolls, it made easier eating for my voracious kiddies who love sushi. They ate their take for sure! We didn't try too many apps, gotta do the sushi right folks! The large size rolls were what I would consider just normal size at other places. It's a tad bit weird location since it's located on the side of a strip mall-ish place. Plenty of parking but a bit dark in the plaza at night (tad dodgy) but I'd been in worse locales for good food. My summary, a reliable place, good number of regulars and several tables with millennials doing their usual solo dining with you-tube. It's great for the sushi cravings. I like the smaller bite sizes, but you'd have to order more as a result. It failed to impress me as service was slow (but they're friendly!). I must have driven past Sushi World AYCE a dozen times before finding this restaurant on Yelp. It's in a plaza next to a Chinese buffet so already, there is some skepticism to be had. When we walked in, we were greeted and tended to almost immediately. What we found was a nicely decorated, clean restaurant and great service. We came for the AYCE and found that the sushi came out quick and was of high quality! I loved that neither the rolls or the nigiri were packed with rice. One thing I noticed was that there was not a lot of variety among the special rolls, and were missing a lot of options that are typically found in other sushi restaurants. Tempura and cream cheese were found a lot in the specialty rolls. I realize that people come for sushi, during AYCE hours but I think they would benefit from having more non-sushi items on their AYCE menu. Really glad I tried this place out! read more

They had a good variety of appetizers but the shining star of this restaurant is the nigiri. Normally at AYCE places there's an overwhelming amount of rice in comparison to the small piece of fish. At sushi world, it's a thick piece of fish with a small piece of rice. Their rolls were good. Hidden gem!! I have my go to all you can eat sushi spots and this one is going to be my new favorite spot. Fish is good quality and they do not skimp you. Thick pieces on the rolls and the sushi is high quality. My favorite was the fire dragon, crazy salmon, and salmon avocado. The sushi pieces were also amazing with fatty pieces of salmon that taste buttery. The photo menu was very helpful. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the miso soup because it was sweeter than I usually like it. I highly recommend Sushi World and I will 100% be back soon. The only downside is that it took a while to get out order because they are under staffed. Only had one server for the whole restaurant and 2 cooks at the sushi bar completing orders. read more

It's pathetic that the people assembling delivery orders here don't seem able to use the phone or send an email to verify an order. I had gotten a confirmation from DoorDash so I know that they took the order correctly. The order stated: 1x Angel Wings (Signature Rolls (8 Pcs)) Special Instructions: Only use real crab or leave it out $11.95 My message was to LEAVE OUT the disgusting crabstick if the crab was not real (since their menu stated CRABMEAT everywhere, lying to customers). They incorrectly assumed that I didn't want the roll at all if it contained the garbage that is crabstick. They were wrong but never thought to ASK. When I called about it after I received my incomplete order, the woman on the phone pretended not to understand me and then finally did, telling me they were VERY busy and it's DoorDash's mistake, not theirs! There are other places that will take 45min+ to get your food which is dumb. Goal of ayce places should be to turn tables as fast as possible. Their rice that comes with the nigiri is smaller than usual which is good. You won't get filled up on rice. Nigiri menu (single pieces) for ayce is smaller but still comes with a lotta fish. This is 2nd go-to AYCE sushi spot. To be honest, I come here when I'm too lazy to drive out to Wicker Park for Sushi Taku. I live fairly close and there's a parking lot here which is super convenient. Nonetheless, I really enjoy the sushi here and have yet to have a bad experience! They have pretty typical rolls here (ones you see at every other AYCE sushi spot) and a few others. The quality is pretty decent. There's not as much rice or fish in the rolls but I don't mind because I can order quite a lot and not get full as fast. Checked this place out not too long ago with some friends and then again with my fiancé. It's your typical AYCE sushi spot hidden in a plaza with free parking. I took away a star for slow service... both times I was here we were the only ones or one of two tables but service was kind of slow. Maybe if they hired more front staff or kitchen staff it would be better. And another star taken away because the ayce sushi menu is not as vast as other places I have been to. Place is clean because it's new and the decorations are nice. Will check out again but hopefully they will improve with time since it's a brand new business. read more

One of the good AYCE sushi places in the area. The dining area has plenty of seating and I've never gone during the prime times so I'm not sure how long the wait usually takes. All the servers are very attentive and are really nice. The sushi rolls they having during lunch is a lot less than the dinner menu. What sucks is that for the sashimi we can only order a max of 6 per every roll that we order. Good quality fish they use for their sushi but I wish they didn't have this rule. read more
