2nd time going to this place. First time was pretty good, 2nd not so much. Went in on a Thursday night at 7:45. They had one big party, that was already eating and 2 small tables. Took my son for the first time to have a new experience. Sushi rolls were good and came out quickly. My son ordered orange chicken, after 45 min of waiting I had to ask where it was. They said the kitchen was backed up, although I saw no food coming from the kitchen. It took an hour to get his plate, and of course he ordered the combo, only to get the a la cart. When I asked she said that was how the other girl put it in, at that point I wasn't about to wait longer for it to be corrected. I believe his food had been forgotten, not a good experience. That was my go to place before covid and during covid but not anymore unfortunately. Every single week i order a carryout worth 200$ and sometimes twice a week. They give me very little quantity of ginger, and everytime i ask them for extra ginger they charge me extra for it. It's not about the charge but either put enough ginger for 200$ worth of sushi or dont charge for extra ginger if i'm purchasing this amount. Also i ordered salmon handrolls couple times and twice they didnt include salmon inside it was only rice and avocado. So disappointing i will not be coming back at all. read more

Not only did they completely forget about our order, no one noticed until someone who started their shift came on and was asking why we weren't eating...... well we didn't get our food. Went there because of the yelp deal, 3.5 star. Food was greatt (heard their fishes are really fresh, and come in on TUESDAY), service was great, but it is too expensive!!! writing this review while waiting for the bill... first, i realize we came when it was busy and i'm not expecting sonic speed with my food. second, i realize the chicken katsu takes more time than sushi rolls. third, i know curry house is next door but we were compromising between sushi and combination plates and it was closer to our home. we had to wave the server down to even order our food. we ordered three sushi rolls and a combination chicken katsu plate. all of our sushi rolls came out and we finished all our rolls...and 20 minutes later, we get the salad for our combination plate. the salad shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to put the dressing on and put on the table. it was only brought out when i asked about the progress of our combination plate. it's not like we were eating horribly quick that we had finished ALL of the rolls before the measly salad came out. it was all wilted and drenched in dressing. the chicken katsu my brother ordered came out burnt and the server was barely even apologetic about the delay or the sorry appearance it came out looking like. being that it was inedible, we asked to get it taken off the bill. the guy is standing behind the bar on the phone, texting while we are just watching him...doing nothing! i been here a couple times over the years and every time, it gets worse and worse. this time happens to be the worst experience i've had at ANY sushi place. shame on you, sushi world. i wanted to give you a chance to better yourself but NOPES! read more

Surprised that this restaurant offer some rare seafood only can be found at Real Japanese restaurant. The quality of food is also good. Buy a Groupon for this place! It's offered quite often. You can't use it on Happy Hour items but I normally order something off the regular menu anyways so then it just applies to there. Like everyone else, I enjoy their Happy Hour menu. I can just eat salmon and escolar sushi all day. And $2 for 2 pieces is a great value! The fish always taste fresh and it's not generally crowded so you get served timely. I always order the sweet shrimp from there (that's what my Groupon applies to) and sometimes their special salmon (cherry, etc.) if they have any available. I've been here a few times already (sometimes even without a Groupon) and I'll continue to return for sure. read more

I had my reservations when I first walked in, the reviews were so-so but I was pleasantly surprised. I came in with my Mom and cousin, we sat at the bar to catch all of the action. The service was very friendly and after getting a couple of bites in, I was curious about the other items at the bar. The sushi was very fresh, and by fresh I mean, some of it was still kicking. The sweet shrimp, which the chef pulled out of almost nowhere(at this point I had blanked out when my Mom was talking to him and realized he had two large live shrimp a little later). It took me by surprise to say the least, and even for me, I wasn't sure if I could handle something that raw. Well I did, and I loved it, it was succulent, sweet, and meaty. It didn't need a hint of soy sauce. If anything, it can't get fresher than that. The chef continued to shower us, on the house, with different dishes to try, I can't describe the magic that this man performed, but I enjoyed every moment of it. Out of all the fish, I had never tried escolar before. So he whipped some out, and to make it special, sprinkled fresh cracked pepper and took a blow torch to it. The fish had the texture of a meatier white tuna and with the seared top with the fresh cracked pepper, it made it quite the delicacy. There was also the spicy tuna rice cakes in which I enjoyed. The spicy tuna on its own leaves me wanting, but put it into this roll and its magic. The ikura, or salmon roe, was another surprise to me as well, I'm used to it being soft and sometimes, sadly, very squishy. However, the ikura here packs a crunch in a delicious way. The chef clearly knows what he's doing and his technique reflects in the sushi he serves. A quick note as well, I'm curious as to what kind of rice he uses and what he adds because the rice has a sweet quality to it, it could be sweet rice but I feel like there's more to it and whatever it is, it sets the sushi perfectly. The dessert was pretty fantastic, we tried the green tea ice cream wrapped in a thin layer of chocolate cake, than fried in tempura batter. It was sweet, but not too sweet. The other dish, which was on the house and off menu, was a green tea creme brulee. This was my favorite, I must have a separate stomach just for dessert because we managed to finish it off. I told the chef that this dish deserves to be on the menu and he assured me that he'll be putting it up. Needless to say, I rolled out a happy customer and I'll be returning (I'm hearing good things about the ramen and udon as well). This is the type of place where you go for a quality sushi/sashimi. The sushi is fresh and of a high quality, and the chef will let you know when to avoid having soy sauce, and with the rice he uses, there is little need to use soy sauce. read more

Hubby and I have been here twice for lunch during the weekdays. It's usually packed around 1230 or so - you will need to get here early if you want a table. There is also a sushi bar that you can sit at. Food is unbelievably great!! I don't get sushi, but do always get rolls and seaweed salad. Hubby gets sushi and says it's good. He also gets seafood rolls and says that they are great. Miso soup is served (for free) after you order (maybe that is only during lunch or happy hour? It doesn't say on the menu). Happy hour prices are awesome (one day during lunch we got there and it was happy hour all day!! lol) Service is good, food comes out in a decent amount of time, our drinks are always refilled without asking, and plates are cleared promptly. We are in and out without worrying about the time and the price is decent. Definitely one of our go to lunch places... and it will be one of yours too once you try it out. My BFF & I are always looking for a great sushi place so we decided to check this restaurant out last Saturday; we were extremely happy to have found this place through Groupon. The restaurant was very clean; service was always with a smile & excellent, and the sushi were very fresh. I would've never expected that a sushi joint in a strip mall housing a wienerschnitzel, curry house, and a Taco Bell would also contain a pretty good sushi joint.
