Sushi was really good here and decently priced. We had 2 rolls, edamame and miso. I would pass on the miso. It was pretty watered down and presented in a to go container. Maybe they were out of bowls that night? But the edamame was fresh and they gave a nice portion for 2. The rolls were also very good and fresh. We had the fire island and crazy tuna. They both had a similar unagi and sriracha Mayo topping so we should have gone with something a bit different for one of them, but both were still really good. Yikes! This was a huge disappointment. I spent $50 to get a plastic container of Japanese food that tasted and was presented no better than the mall food court. I got the teriyaki chicken and the consistency of the chicken tasted like a rubber bouncy ball. The udon noodles were smothered in sauce, rubber chicken topped with a maraschino cherry. My digestion was not well for two days, I will not be graphic. . I understand with the pandemic that plastic has become inevitable but I ate at the restaurant and was still served in non environmentally friendly plastic. It would have made a huge difference to be served on actual dish ware and fresher ingredients with less sauce. Will not be returning. read more

So, I'm on a bender to know which Japanese restaurant has the best bento box in Santa Fe. I've been to Kohnami, Izanami, and Masa Sushi. This place has the best for presentation and quality of food. Masa Sushi came highly recommended, but I was disappointed with how sparse and poorly made everything was beside the miso soup. For overall cuisine, variety, and ambience, Izanami is a high-end choice. But for convenience right off the plaza and for the price, Sushi 8 will be a solid choice for me. read more

I hadn't had sushi in Santa Fe in a little while and this place was open in the mid afternoon when we wanted to go. It's part of a ground level mall on the south side of the plaza. It's at the back end and a number of tables have window views, but it's out to the street below and the parking lot. But natural light. There is a sushi bar, but there was only one chair. Not one chair available; only one chair. It felt a bit lonely. We took a table. Prompt and pleasant service, but our server didn't know the answers to what seemed to be straightforward questions about the menu and for instance had to ask the chef whether they had uni or hamachikama. They didn't. Limited sushi/sashimi menu and if it's not on the menu, apparently it's not available. No daily specials. The seaweed salad was the best. Gyoza and Japanese spring rolls were OK. Yellowtail/green onion roll, and an eel/avocado roll were both just OK, but uninspiring. very reasonably priced. All of the above under $45 before tip. Didn't really know what to expect when we heard of Sushi 8. We were glad to see a new Sushi restaurant in town so we tried it and have already been back :). Sushi is excellent. The rolls are excellent. The staff is excellent. The only thing I didn't love was the Soba Noodle dish that I ordered but that was more due to the ingredients (too many bell peppers for my taste) and the fact we live 25 minutes from The Plaza. We will keep giving Sushi 8 our business and I can't wait to try their non-sushi when we can get back to in-restaurant dining! read more

I made an order through Door Dash. This restaurant was perfectly happy to let pork dumplings and sushi sit for a least 45 minutes before it was delivered. I wouldn't trust any sushi coming from here. This is unsafe. I made the order at 7 and the dasher will now deliver it at 9pm. If a sushi restaurant knows they are backed up for deliveries, to have food sitting this long should be reported to the department of health. read more

Oh my! So we were going for a drive and ended up in Santa Fe, hungry. We tried all our usual places but they were all closed. So we saw this sushi place on Yelp and had pickup available so we thought we would try it. It was so good! The smell alone was to die for. Food was great temperature and had every we ordered. We stopped in for dinner tonight based on previous reviews. We were able to get right in without a reservation. We're very happy to say that Shushi8 deserves their rating. Our server, Shawn, was very attentive and helpful. We got the Sumo sampler, and 3 rolls. All were very good. This place was so freakin good! The men working were very polite and patient as my wife and I looked them menu over. We ordered a couple of crab rangoons...a couple of California rolls...and an order of fancy rainbow rolls. Everything was freshly made...plated beautifully...and tasted so good but the fancy rainbow roll took the cake. The fish tasted wonderful and not too fishy...if that makes an sense.
