Quote that I felt was noteworthy
    Lillia K.

They gave my friend mystery tea that looked like mustard seeds and smelled like the dried crab flavored peas that my old English professor gave me from his Chinese wife. We figured out that it was NOT brewed mustard seeds, but rather soy beans--this was my key guess because of the strong umami. Whatever. I got their Sweet Honey Ultimate Special Roll :))) , and my beautiful friend got a roll with eel. EEL!! I've never had eel, so obviously I tried it. Ummm. Well. All I could say about the eel was that it felt like one long caramelized banana and tasted like the tea--the tea from before!!

This was delicious! The sushi rolls are so large, well worth the price. The service was quick and friendly. I'd definitely come back and eat here again.

I dined in at Sushibruce Ya and had the Sure Thing special roll -- and I enjoyed it and would order it again. The roll had spicy salmon and avocado layered over a shrimp tempura crunch base, finished with slices of jalapeño, a drizzle of soy dressing, sriracha, and masago. The roll wad fresh and flavorful and loaded. I also ordered the seaweed salad, which was a nice way to start the meal. For drinks, I tried their hot sake. I'm not very familiar with sake, so I'm trying to explore more. See the picture to see the ceramic sake flask and cup it was served in, which I enjoyed. Regarding the service, everyone was kind when they did come by, but it felt like I spent more time waiting to be noticed than actually being checked on. Sometimes this can happen with restaurants but I don't know if that's their norm. The restaurant is small but fits a good amount of tables for the size. The ambiance is set by the dim lighting. All in all, I would return. I'd like to try more rolls and see what future dining experiences have in store.

Food was delicious. Friendly, quick service. Clean restrooms. My daughter loved the rainbow roll And I enjoyed the lunch special-salmon poke salad. Matcha cheesecake was delicious too.

High quality sushi, rolls, and other dishes! Enjoyed the garlic edemame, tempura vegetables, and any of their specialty rolls. On the pricier side but certainly worth it for a night out or special occasion. Parking can be difficult, especially on the weekends, as only street parking is available in this area of Fells. Cozy, modern interior.

Tried this spot with some friends. We really enjoyed their rolls. The service could have been better, it took pretty long to get anyone's attention. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or a night out with the girls. The rolls are very flavorful. It does feel as though most rolls have their base as a kani or a California roll inside, but still good.

Was visiting Baltimore from CA and honestly have to say this is some of the best sushi I've ever had in my whole life. If the presentation wasn't enough the flavor and the QUALITY of the food blew my mind. If you're considering coming here out of the other sushi options in the area... just come here! I wish I had more photos but I finished them too fast.

Always one of my favorite places in Baltimore. Stopped by for lunch. Was sat quickly, they were a bit busier than usual but service was still good, welcoming and friendly as expected. Ordered a sushi burrito, shrimp and crab roll, and the lunch poke salad. Everything was good. The shrimp and crab roll was nice and flavorful, the poke salad was excellent fresh and delicious with a great tasting dressing, the burrito was as always excellent lots of spicy tuna, crab and shrimp in it. For lunch time this place was chill, not too loud and crazy, chill vibes. Plenty of street parking nearby.

Food: 8/10 Bruce's sushi is always full of creativity, blending flavors from different cultures in such a fun and delicious way. We tried the crispy Firecracker roll (8/10), the Crab Salad (7/10) which had a nice touch of Maryland flavor, and some fresh sashimi (8/10). We also had the Japanese Burrito (8/10) from the specialty roll section. Everything was thoughtfully made. Bruce's sushi feels like a series of little surprise boxes--beautifully shaped, richly flavored, and always exciting to explore with friends. Service: 8/10 The staff was polite and genuinely friendly, making the experience feel welcoming. Ambience: 8.5/10 Comfortable and well-lit. The decor strikes a nice balance between cultural character and modern design, making the space both cozy and stylish.

This is the best sushi I've had in a while! I heard recommendations about this sushi place while in Baltimore area, so we had to check it out. The interior was chic and our server was super friendly and helpful! We got the calamari for the appetizer and rolls to share (Hot Night Baby and Full Option which are both not pictured). I also got the salmon, tuna, and yellowtail nigiri. The fish was super fresh and all the rolls were delicious. The size of the rolls was also big- no skimping compared to a lot of other sushi restaurants. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be back!

10/10 sushi place in fells point. Came across this spot during my stay in Baltimore and fulfilled that sushi craving. The miso soup was sooo hot (in a good way) and fresh. Their spicy tuna was super fresh too. Overall, I would def come back. Just note that 18% gratuity is included.

Such a great sushi spot! I love Shoyu in Fed Hill so it's great this place is also by the same owner. The inside is intimate and nicely decorated. There was one staff member working the front during the lunch timeframe. My friend and I ordered hot tea which came in a cute teapot. For food, my friend ordered the Fresh Tofu Salad, Avocado, and Vegetable rolls while I ordered the Spicy Tuna Tempura and Play rolls. My rolls were huge and so filling. Both had lovely presentations and were so flavorful. We really enjoyed dining here and hope to be back soon!

Best sushi in Baltimore! Sushibruce doesn't take reservations but we timed our Saturday evening dinner early enough to avoid a wait to be seated. It's a medium-sized, beautifully designed dining room with lots of different textures on the walls. The adult beverage menu includes Sake, Wine and Beer (not a full bar) but the sushi is without a doubt the star. Fresh fish and creative combinations make for delicious special rolls like "Who's Your Daddy" (spicy tuna and shrimp tempura, topped with seared albacore and avocado) and "Hot Night Baby" (spicy tuna and avocado on top of a shrimp tempura crunch roll). I was impressed with the amount of food so the prices reflect that. Can't wait to go back and try more rolls!

The ambiance is cute and cozy, but a bit stuffy, the person behind me kept hitting my chair lol. The food was mid. I would say I'm a pretty avid sushi eater, this place tries their best, but misses the mark. I enjoyed their appetizers, but actual sushi was bad. The rice is a bit undercooked and has an extra soft texture. It feels a bit too mushy, which feels unnatural. My friend ordered the avocado roll and that was not tasty at all. We asked if we can get it wrote off the bill or returned, but they said "no refund or exchanges!" lol. So we had to take this massive L for the mediocre sushi. That is all; see attached a photo.

Clean, pretty restaurant, fresh food and delightful staff. Staff, Eswuin the young Server is one of the best I've come across. He reads his customers well. He knows exactly when to approach and when to leave well alone. He knows when you're in need of a little extra love and when you just wanna chill with hardly any words. And get this! The staff are friendly and attentive. The raw sushi is pretty authentic and tasty. Portions are fair and price point is reasonable. The menu had a good variety and I feel like there's something for everyone. Raw sushi, cooked sushi (ala carte pieces, rolls); fried items, salads, soups, sashimi, pokebowls, noodles (stir fried, soup); japanese pancakes (okonomiyaki) and different beverages, etc. Quite a few times I've gotten the Deluxe Chirashi Sushi before, both dining-in the restaurant and through take-out orders with DoorDash. It was super awesome and has to be my favorite! It's a bowl of sushi rice with different vegetables (varies: kale, mixed greens, cucumber, radish/ daikon, avocado, micro greens) and colorful delicate slices of seafood (both raw and cooked: tuna/ ahi, seared tuna, white tuna/ escolar, salmon, yellowtail/ japanese amberjack/ hamachi, mackerel, shrimp/ ebi, egg/ tamago, crab stick, fish eggs/ tobiko). It's definitely like a treasure box from the sea. I get so happy when I see this dish! It's almost too pretty to eat! XD I've also tried a few different rolls like: Baked Salmon Philly Roll "Oven cooked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, spicy mayo, sweet sauce" (baked in a foil packet), Eel Cucumber Roll (Unagi), Maryland Real Crab Roll "real crab mix with Japanese mayo, old bay, avocado, cucumber crunch flakes, wrapped with soy paper, special sauce", 3 Roll Combo (Spicy or Regular: California Roll, Tuna Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll). The Spicy Cali Roll was amazing!!!I've also tried the Seafood Pancake (okonomiyaki) "made with wheat flour batter, shredded cabbage, onions, carrots, squash and okonomi sauce, Japanese mayo, on top and shrimp, clams, and mussels". What I really like is how well packed the take-out orders are! They Miso Soup is wrapped in saran wrap to make sure it doesn't spill. There's a piece of carsboard under the soups to make sure they lay flat. The Miso Soup is also very flavorful with lots of tofu and seaweed inside, not watered down with no flavor. The sushi rolls are packed in clear boxes efficiently and with good presentation! I recommend to definitely check this place out! You won't be disappointed (: I can't wait till I order sushi from here again!

The poke had cucumbers, mangoes, avocado, and scallions as well and I felt that the mango with a nice touch to add some sweetness, and it was also very fresh. I came as part of a large group dinner. I appreciate that they took large reservations and sat us in a nice spot in the middle of the restaurant. The server was nice and patient, but I did notice his jacket smelled like cigaret smoke. I asked what to get, since the menu is *huge* and overwhelming (I'm not sure why sushi, steak and pad Thai are on the same menu?). He recommended sushi, so I got a flaming dragon roll (I forget the exact name). Anyways, everyone else also ordered and the food came relatively quickly. Now...when I tell you this is the worst sushi I've ever had. Again, I hate being negative but I have to tell it like it is! When they first presented the dish, it was cool because they serve it on fire. I knew that they had sake in the dish (probably so the flame can keep going after they take it out of the kitchen). However, when I bit into it, the sake was *extremely* overpowering. I couldn't taste anything else except the sake. It was extremely alcohol-heavy and I could not finish the dish. I asked others to try it, and they all agreed that it was too heavy. The prices were also very high for what we got. The only food I enjoyed were the appetizers, but they were still unremarkable. Overall, I regrettably cannot recommend this place. None of the dishes stood out, and the sushi was shocking.

There was a bit less tofu than at some other places, but perhaps I just got an uneven batch. The meal came with 24 pieces in total, which was a bit shocking to my NYC brain. The various fish had different flavors and nice grill marks, with my favorites being the tuna and yellowtail, as expected. The rice was a little bit soft, but this was to be expected as there was sauce on it and it had traveled, so I am not blaming them. Outside of the rolls, there was some wasabi and some gari/sushi ginger. It was a nice and satisfying meal. Overall, it was a good deal. I can see why this place has been open for years from this dish alone. I would go again if I were back in Baltimore for a game or something and would recommend others check it out.

I love matsuri! This is probably one of my favorite sushi spots in Baltimore! They are very down to…read moreearth and the interior of the facility is very traditional with a sushi bar seating area for smaller groups. The service is phenomenal, I've always been greeted immediately walking in. Everyone is so nice and will talk to you and offer suggestions! They have a great menu with bento boxes as an option for people who want a little bit of everything. I 100% recommend this sushi spot for anyone.
