I was excited to get the vegetarian bi bim bop. Sadly, I did not enjoy it. The vegetables don't seem fresh and are overcooked, the egg is overcooked rather than runny, and the rice isn't crunchy at all, and I don't like the overall flavor. This place was surprisingly delicious! I came here because My normal sushi place was closed on Sundays. Based on the reviews and photos I wanted to give it a try. Glad I did. Sorry Was exhausted Spent last hour trying to find dinner that wasn't red meat, or pizza so I drove to a sushi place downtown that I wouldn't park my car in the area. Rubby bummed a light off me. My go to Korean/sushi spot. The food is consistently good and you get so much food for the price. They also have specials and they also do not disappoint. The service is always excellent and for a small restaurant our food always come out fast. This location is smaller so I suggest coming early or putting in a reservation for big groups. I have brought my meetup group here and out in reservations for 10 people and we pretty much took half of the place read more

The outside of the building doesn't look like much but the atmosphere inside is lovely and the sushi was fresh and delicious! Miso soup comes with sushi rolls which was a pleasant surprise. They also gave us an orange cut and shaped like a teddy bear plus tea mochi treats! The service was excellent and we highly recommend this place. We will be back next time we're in town. read more

Ordered the Nemo roll, Philadelphia roll & miso soup. Miso was just OK. Nemo roll was nice but had a citrus sauce on it which wasn't listed & Philadelphia roll was nice but I think it needed cucumber to cut the creaminess of the cream cheese. Very fresh sushi! read more

Tried this place on a whim two months ago. I really found the name odd and honestly it was the name which kept me away. Very unassuming in name and external presentation. The restaurant is a mix of table service and self service. You get seated and get a menu then have to go up to the front to order and they bring out the food. The presentation of the food is top notch. The chef does a great job and wields his knife well. The sushi itself is the best I have had in Albuquerque and some of the best period. I daydream about their sashimi. It is so good. The place is a little small so when they get busy you might have a wait but the wait is worth it. Pretty reasonably priced as far as very fresh fish in New Mexico goes. I can't recommend highly enough. read more

Went out on a date/birthday night and we had a great time. The owners were so sweet and very nice and the restaurant is well laid out and very inviting. We ordered 4 different items to share and we were not disappointed. Great selection and the meal was both visually beautiful and was top notch flavors. I had heard about the orange bear at the end to cleanse your palette and was a great design. Bathroom was very clean and well stocked. I would give them an 11 rating if I could. First off I cannot believe I waited this long to try this place. I love Korean food. I normally fully enjoy it in LA, Hawaii. I am so happy that there is now a place in Albuquerque that is authentic and delicious. Sara and I have dined in and the chef is so sweet and kept checking on us. It's super clean in there and smells amazing when you walk in. The prices are great for the amount of food that you get. I love their kimchi, it is perfectly spiced and fresh. Open on Mondays (whew), including Memorial Day. Great find Lovely people run it And they're very congenial and forgiving of my attempts at the Korean language We can dine -in now, which was a very welcome arrangement given the downpour outside I luvd the miso soup, eel roll, and the tonkatso udon. The chashu was absolutely luscious. The squid salad was good, not outstanding, but certainly not bad, had a good texture and flavor. The kimchi pancake was okey; I felt badly for the lady because she thought I didn't like it so she offered to make me another batter but I was already so full. I also got a bulgogi bento box to go Which was beautiful fresh but I don't think it fair to review it when refrigerated and reheated the next day (but it was good and a lot, and fulfilling) Will be back! read more

I love this place and New Mexico needed a place like this. The service is so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food is delicious and the quantity surprised us especially the udon because the prices are amazing. Also the quality of the ingredients was pristine. Everything looked fresh and neatly made. The food came out fast. The little bear at the end amazed us because that takes skill! We just really appreciate this restaurant, you can tell they care and have a passion for their food. The food was delicious, they have a wonderful mix of foods on the menu. The lady was very helpful, they brought us miso soup to start, and after they sliced an orange into a cute little bear. I stopped by here while staying in Albuquerque for a night during my travels. The front desk / owner was very nice and I ordered a bento box which included eel with rice, a california roll, 3 fried dumplings, and a seaweed salad. I enjoyed all of the items but one item did not necessarily stand out amongst the box. I really enjoy eel and it was cooked just right. All in All a good bento box but would have also like to have tried their sushi but did not have enough room after the decently sized bento box! read more

Ahhhh... Sushibucks...I've been meaning to leave a review.. But, before I can find the time to write it, I've already been back to Sushibucks multiple times. It's such a wonderful little hole in the wall restaurant, in an area you wouldn't think such a restaurant would exist. It's slightly reminiscent of Magokoro during its Kokoro days (for those of you who remember). The menu is different. But, the attention to detail is very similar. These people are incredibly competent at their trade/art. I almost don't want to post this so I can greedily keep it from becoming another Bahn Mi Coda. That's all I have to say. So far all I've had is sushi and gyoza. I definitely plan to branch out on trying their bento boxes, poke and udon. I am a fan of their chicken gyoza. I'm not usually a big fan of uncooked sushi but this place is my exception. I usually will get spicy tuna, the kind that's all mushy and cut up. But here their spicy tuna is full cuts and is delicious. I even had a roll that had salmon (uncooked) and loved that too. Of course the eel roll was also very delicious, that's usually my go-to. I plan on trying their Korean pancake and bibimbop next. They currently only offer takeout due to dine-in restrictions. I'm sure they would be willing to offer curbside if you asked. The owners are always very friendly. The inside space is small but there are markings on the floor to indicate the six foot social distancing, wear masks/gloves, and have a plexiglass divider at the register. read more

Had dinner here on a whim 2 nights ago while passing through town and was very pleased. Wasn't crowded which was a relief, I just wanted a quiet place to have dinner and this was perfect. Was very happy to see they had some no-rice-rolls that fit my no-carb diet. The protein roll and orange roll were outstanding. Excellent service as well. Highly recommend. Ate here twice this week and was very happy with the food. I ordered a beef bibimbap and salmon poke bowl. It's great to see more casual korean food restaurants in Albuquerque and Asahi hits the nail on the head. The flavors are great and the staff is extremely friendly. The ingredients are very fresh and the menu has a wide variety of Korean and Japanese fair. It is located conveniently across from UNM campus and I will definitely be returning to Asahi in the future. read more

I was extremely disappointed by my experience at Sushi Bucks. The staff were rude and treated us poorly from the moment we walked in, with the hostess barely acknowledging us and the server being dismissive. The service was slow, and when the food finally arrived, it was cold and lacked flavor. For the high prices, the quality just wasn't there. With poor service and mediocre food, I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more
