One of the nicer Sushi restaurants in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. I call it Redneck Sushi lol. The decor is nice, service is good, but as any restaurant when it gets busy service will be slow. I came in at lunch and ordered the Bento box, Teri chicken and Tempura, it came with a salad and Miso soup. I also ordered hot tea. The bad: the rice was soggy, the chicken was kinda tough, and the hot tea...well it was Luke warm. Typical fast food sushi joint..but it's ok. I ordered a spicy tuna roll...it was pretty decent. Walking in here during the hot summery day is a bit of an adjustment. The lighting is dim and nice for a relaxing meal. We were greeted immediately and then sat down to eat. The waiter quickly approached us and asked for our drink orders. The waiter was good in that he was consistent and came multiple times to check if we needed anything or were ready to order. He was extremely soft spoken and he didn't seem confident while talking with us. However, he still did great being attentive and waiting on us. I ordered a dinner meal at lunch time, which is pretty much paying 5 dollars more for lunch than you would during the week day. Kinda weird that the menu didn't just separate the weekday lunch price from the weekend lunch price, but oh well. The dinner allowed you to pick two items from the list, which give a good amount of choices. It also came with spring rolls, rice, an orange, and a salad. I got two sushi rolls, picked the miso soup and ginger salad. The food came out quickly and was tasty. Not the best sushi I have ever had, but good. Worst customer service EVER!! Besides the waiter who serves us... Felt like everyone doing us a favor to have us. Brought for the two of us two different orders in the same plate while I mentioned I'm allergic to sea food. After eating here several times; more due to convenience while staying at the Margaritaville than anything else, I am done! The sushi ordered did not taste fresh, the tuna on the sashimi and rainbow roll was gray. I called over the mgr and he said that sometimes it comes like that. Really?? My co worker ordered the bento with sashimi and eggrolls. It was served with 3 full size egg rolls, in addition to the 2 small spring rolls that already come with it. Who can eat that many, does not make any sense to include them in the box. So they skimp on the sashimi and load it up with egg rolls, gee thanks. Service was attentive, but kitchen way too slow and then some guy walked in and the staff got busy chatting with him and goofing around. I love this little spot!! Once I'm inside, I forget I'm in SBC (I try to forget very often). During a super hot summer day, it is cool inside thanks to the darkened windows. They have several televisions turned to sports (read: guy-friendly), but they are nice enough to turn a television to another channel if you ask. The food is delish, but can be a little pricey for dinner, as I have not noticed a big difference in the lunch and dinner portions. I wish I had more meat and vegetables than rice for the dinner portion. I've been about half a dozen times; my only complaint is once I had a young waiter who would NOT shut up! He kept passing by my table and striking up conversations with me and it took me an hour to eat my food. So....minus one star, but overall, I definitely recommend Sushiko! read more

This is probably the best sushi place in Bossier City. It's trendy (as far as Bossier City is concerned) and the food tasty and fresh. They have a very extensive menu and the waitstaff has always been very helpful. It might be worth noting that they do not handle groups of 8 or more very well. read more

Normally on our trips to Shreveport, we eat at SakeSushi. However, the Detroit Lions just went into OT and this spot appeared in front of us. We peeked in...atmosphere looked like your typical mall restaurant. Our expectations weren't high, but they had TVs with football, so here we were. Started our order with edamame and miso soup. Edamame was chewy and the soup was bland. For rolls, we ordered the Ulta mate tuna, the sunshine, and the Something wrong #1. Though presentation was seriously lacking, due to lack of sauces and eggs and size, what we ordered was delicious! The Ulta mate tuna was very spicy and goooooood. The Something wrong was also surprisingly tasty, as was the sunshine. We asked for wooden chopsticks, which we prefer to the plastic, and our server was very friendly. Did an amazing job with servicing us and making sure we were enjoying our meal. But one of the other waitresses was so rude to her and kept ordering her around. I have absolutely no idea why this sushi restaurant actually has over three stars. I'm giving it one and being generous. Not sure where to start..... Located right next to Bass Pro Shop, which must be the only reason it survives because of the heavy foot traffic. Let's start with dirty plates and sticky place settings. My Sake and Sapporo did come quickly which was a plus. It helped dull my senses for the very NOT fresh fish. The Hamachi was veiny and fishy tasting, the tuna was very tough and WAY not fresh, the spicy tuna roll was so spicy I can only guess it was like that to mask tuna that is even to old for their standards to serve on rice, Almost inedible. The rolls were ok for happy hour, but you can tell they didn't take the time to roll properly. Our waitress was too present. She checked on us too often which got really annoying. This place recently took over the Stone Horse Bistro location and has re-modeled it. Gone is the conveyor belt that never ran, gone is the enclosed kitchen. Pretty decent sushi (though there's not a lot you can do to mess up sushi except cut it incorrectly). Cuts were large enough for you to practically wrap the fish around the rice. No dollop of wasabi on the rice to stick the fish to so somewhat bland nigiri pieces. salad and soup pretty common fare. Will go again as a "cheap sushi joint" read more

I stopped into Sushiko during a recent shopping trip to the Boardwalk. I don't like to eat alone, but thought this place would be perfect, because I can sit at the sushi bar and play on my iPhone to keep myself distracted while my food was being prepared. It was fairly crowded at 1 pm on a Friday. Most patrons were wearing business attire, which I thought that was weird because it's not close to a business district. Good sign if people have to make an effort to eat here during lunch. I scanned the menu which was pretty extensive in appetizers, main courses, and sushi...the usual Japanese-American offerings. I decided on the bento box with a tuna sushi roll and vegetable tempura. I entertained myself by listening to the sushi chef bitch at the other chef in Japanese. It was kind of funny, but not so much when I realized he was making my sushi. I felt sorry for the fish he was about to hack to death. The bento box was huge! I couldn't even eat all of it. I could have done without the big lump of rice, but everything else was fantastic and fresh. They should consider serving miso instead of rice when a stir fry or alike dish is not ordered with the box. My waitress was very attentive and checked on me several times throughout my meal and didn't blink an eye when I ordered a beer while dining by myself at lunch. The decor could use some help. Located at the Louisiana Boardwalk, Sushiko was recomended by some freinds from work. It's a great location, the boardwalk is a pretty fun place to wonder around, not the best mall in the world but that's for a different review I guess. As for Sushiko, it's a nice, clean place with plenty of seating. I sat at the sushi bar as I was by myself. They have a little mini bar in the back corner, not sure what the point of that was, almost looks like a tiki bar you can buy at Costco. You get a free bowl of Miso soup which i'm a fan of, I normally get it anyways so free rocks! I got Unagi and a roll of some kind, forget exactly what it was. The fact that I can't remember a whole lot about it says alot, it was ok, nothing special, and it was a little smaller than what I thought it would be. The Unagi was good, kinda hard to really screw that up. I also got the Amaebi, sweet shrimp, and really wasn't a fan of it. I've never had sweet shrimp before so I dont' know if it was just because I wasn't a fan or if it wasn't all that good. Shreveport, Louisiana doesn't have many asian restaurants available especially when it comes to sushi... This is a Korean owned Japanese restaurant that has a decent sized menu that includes a few Korean dishes... I'm very picky when it comes too sushi, probably I've been spoiled by the best! This place is not pricey compared to the other places I've been but again I'm picky since we are dealing with raw fish... So, that being said, the sushi was not good... Way too much rice and fish not too fresh... I do go to eat here many times since I need asian food but the only sushi I feel safe in ordering is the Ikura and the Massago (Salmon and Shrimp eggs)... However what is good are the korean dishes. I go in and just order the short ribs, or Galbi each time esp. cause there are no Korean BBQ places around here... The waitress' and waiters are kinda hit or miss... They don't know much about the asian cuisine and if you start ordering by the asian name, i.e. Galbi, Massago and so on, they will look at you clueless... Also being that I go in a lot and my tip avg. is 25% I expect the service to get a little better each time, but maybe that's just how I think... read more

Sushiko at the Boardwalk is a decent sushi joint. A girlfriend of mine and I shared one of the big platters there recently, and were taken aback by the quality. The roll we ordered had crab which tasted more like sand than crab meat. That was a major disappointment, and we haven't been back since. My friend and I wanted to go to the boardwalk and eat some sushi. So we decided to go to this place. While talking and catching up. I'll be damn if we didn't see a roach crawling on our table and the wall right next to our table. We brought this to the staff attention and they act like this is normal for them. My mind automatically started thinking about the roaches that could be in the kitchen around the food. So we left, I would not go back there, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. First I would like to say I felt very disrespected. My family of three and I walked into their establishment on the boardwalk, was seated and completely ignored for about 15 minutes. Tried to flag down a waitress, tried to make eye contact, we were deliberately being ignored. We were dressed nice, we're not loud we were seated right in the middle. So it's very hard to miss us. The only thing that I can say was different was that we were people of color and a mixture of minority groups. My family and I felt very discriminated against and will not be returning. My husband and I had the miso soup and some rolls with a lunchtime Bento Box. Everything was great and since it was before 3 pm, we also enjoyed $2 hot saki and $2 beer. He loved the James Bond sushi roll and my salmon roll was fresh and tasty. Try the ginger miso salad dressing if you get the Bento box, it's fantastic. And the seaweed salad was great too! We both agreed that the miso soup was some of the best we've ever had. We are sushi connoisseurs and we are picky, so for me to give a sushi restaurant five stars is saying a lot. I love love love this place for sushi rolls. Its really convenient on the Boardwalk so it's perfect for a dinner date before the movies. Every time I go I only get the Crawfish roll. If you like a generous portion of spicy crawfish topped on a California Roll and baked, this roll is for you! For non sea food lover they also have a great Texas Roll with steak, asparagus, and cream cheese. It gives you the roll experience without the shellfish. My boyfriend gets that every time we go since he is allergic to shellfish. He also always get the bento box. A great appetizer is the monkey brains. Don't be alarmed its just a crabmeat filled avocado that's fried. I think, lol. But it is crazy Delicious. We ordered two rolls during their sushi happy hour. A spicy roll and a California roll. I've honestly had better sushi from a grocery store. The quality of salmon in the spicy salmon roll was not good at all. There were sesame seeds, scallion and various other fillers mixed in with the salmon which I've never seen before. We asked for a side of yum yum sauce in which our server told us it would be an extra $.50 per serving. Which I've also never seen before. The price of the rolls during happy hour was $7.95 for both. I would like to start this review off by saying I live in Southern California where Asian restaurants are everywhere, and I am very accustomed to foods of the Japanese culture. That being said, based off my visit to Louisiana I did not see many Asian restaurants, and when we saw this one we decided to give it a try. The best part of this dining experience was the service. Unfortunately for Sushiko, they are a restaurant which means that food quality should be their number one priority - which it clearly wasn't. I ordered the bento box for approximately $17 (which is way more than the bento boxes in California) so I was expecting them to knock it out of the park. The chicken came out cold with cold teriyaki which was spine chilling to say the least. The bento box also came with egg rolls; at home my mom makes egg rolls bought from Costco and I am 99.9% sure that the egg rolls in the bento box were prepackaged and popped in a microwave to be served as a part of a $17 bento box. The fried rice was very forgettable and the rest of the box seemed to follow a similar theme as the dishes I described above. Multiple microwave-like dishes put together with garnishes to mask the mediocrity of the food was not acceptable. Sometimes the truth hurts, but if you haven't tasted better Japanese food it will probably taste alright, but as a tourist I was not pleased overall. The one dish keeping this review from a 1 star was the tempura, the batter was very crispy and had the right ratio of batter to shrimp. If you don't know Japanese food this establishment is adequate, but if you are accustomed to Asian cuisine I recommend any other restaurant. read more
