This place is so cute! They sell cakes, cupcakes, and mini cupcakes as well. Prices were not listed so I had to ask the person at the register. Its a small place but efficient and clean. One staff managing the register and orders and someone else in the back making the menu items. I chose two cupcakes that were a little under $6 for each. I got the red velvet and the lemon. The lemon cupcake was really good but the red velvet cupcake frosting hasn't completely set. After I refrigerated it, it was fine though. Obviously not an everyday thing but a nice treat every once in awhile!

I stopped by this weekend to get banana pudding since they were going to have it for a couple of days. There was so many good options and will be coming back later to get a slice of coconut cake. The service was great. There is seating outside if you want to eat the pastry. They have cookies, cupcakes, and cakes. The banana pudding was a good portion and super delicious.

I am just still soo happy to celebrate my birthday with Susie Cakes today (2/26) with Heidi who helped offer choices on slices of cake to redeem my birthday reward. There was a limited edition cupcake, but I was unable to get that one bc it the frosting contained whiskey, and I am 27 weeks pregnant so didn't want to risk it. I close red velvet slice for my bday reward and got 1 vanilla cupcake in susie blue frosting, 1 mini cupcake in vanilla & red velvet. It was so sweet for Heidi to surprise me with the nice sweet treats and birthday writing on the box wishing me HBD Heidi, you made my birthday month so amazing!!! I will never forget the amazing experience you gave me today!!! Thank you!!! I can't wait to enjoy my bday cake

I stopped by to pick up a box 6-inch chocolate cake for my mother-in-law's birthday, and I had the best first experience. Lauren and Elaine were beyond sweet and so welcoming from the moment we walked in. They made the whole experience feel so personal and genuine. They even gave my two-year-old a sticker, which absolutely made his day. It's the little things like that that really stand out. The customer service was amazing, and you can tell they truly care about their customers. We will definitely be back again. Thank you ladies for making our visit so special!

Susie cakes is a great place to order specialty cakes! We ordered an engagement heart shaped cake, which was insanely expensive at other locations and needed an order placed very far in advance. However this style of cake was much more affordable here and also you can order pretty last minute. The ordering system and pick up system was super easy as well! We ordered a vanilla flavored cake which actually came with some chocolate/chocolate chips. I liked that the cake itself is very dense and rich. It's definitely on the sweeter side especially the frosting. It was super cute and great for the party!

We had the sweetest experience at SusieCakes! We walked in on Sunday afternoon and asked if they could do same-day gender reveal cupcakes, and not only did they say yes--they were genuinely excited for us and made the whole moment feel so special. Within just a few minutes, they had everything ready to go. My husband and I did our little reveal in the courtyard, just the two of us, and it was perfect. When we came back in to thank them, they surprised us with mini cupcakes on the house, which was such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. It's rare to find a place that goes above and beyond like this. Their kindness and enthusiasm made a moment we'll never forget even more meaningful. Highly recommend! Also the cupcakes were very flavorful and soft. We will definitely be coming back

We picked this banana chocolate chip this morning. The cake was good except pulling this thin plastic piece from my mouth. It was in the middle layer. Not top, or bottom bite. Pricey cake for that experience. We've been coming here throughout the years. Never has this happened. 3/8/26

This is such a fun place if you have a massive sweet tooth like I do! The place is cozy and clean, I adore the vintage aesthetic. The staff is friendly and did an excellent job at giving recommendations. I got six half a dozen assorted cupcakes: lemon, strawberry, chocolate, coconut, and their seasonal offer: strawberry rosé. Lemon- The cake base is nice and rich. The frosting has a thick cream cheese base that is lemony and sweet. It also has touches of citrus tanginess. Strawberry- I love strawberry desserts and this did not disappoint! You can really taste the fruit in the frosting and it was a lovely flavor profile. I ate the lemon cupcake with this and turned into a strawberry lemonade cupcake! Chocolate- This had a deep chocolate flavor in both the cake and frosting. You get fun sprinkles to add some texture. Coconut- If you're looking for something mild, this is the way to go. The cake base has a nice vanilla flavor. The frosting gets the coconut and is really creamy. Tooped with frosted coconut flakes. Strawberry Rosé- This was a delight! The cake base has strawberry bits in it that adds a layer of fruity and sweet. The frosting has a wonderful bubbly flavor with a hint of strawberry. Great experience overall!

I wandered in for the first time today and it was like stepping into my favorite episode of Pushing Daisies! The place is immaculately clean and really cute. Very quick, friendly and attentive. I was all over the county on my bike doing some fun last minute Christmas shopping and a pair of cupcakes made for the most amazing and unexpected treat. Peanut butter and coconut, thank you Elaine! We recently ordered cupcakes from SusieCakes. These cupcakes were just okay. The frosting was super sweet, dry, and somewhat chalky. I had the coconut one, with the white frosting, and that was disappointing. Had one tiny bite of the frosting and scooped it up and threw it away. Way too sweet and dry, it was almost crunchy!

I was in the area and happened to see Susie's Cake. I was excited to try some of their desserts. The service was really friendly and it's a cute bakery inside. I'm docking off stars because the cupcakes are really way too sweet. The worker recommended the chocolate since it would be bitter to balance out the sweetness. It was still very very sweet. I'm normally a strawberry cupcake type of gal, so I wanted to give that a try. The cream was too thick and sweet-- and I don't think this cupcake had any strawberry flavor at all. Like another review said, it tasted quite chalky. The cupcake was almost like a cornbread consistency. I also tried the chocolate chip cookie. At least this one was thin, soft and chewy. It was still overly sweet but better than the cupcakes. Overall, I wish the cupcakes were lighter and less dense. It's a very thick cake, with super thick cream. The sugar and sweetness was overwhelming.

I just want to express my sincere gratitude to the team at SusieCakes Costa Mesa for going above and beyond for me. As a busy mom juggling a million things, I accidentally placed my cake order for December 7th instead of November 7th -- a full month off! When I called the bakery to confirm pickup, they couldn't locate my order at first, and that's when we realized my mistake. Instead of turning me away, the team discussed it internally and somehow managed to expedite my order for same-day pickup. I was honestly so touched and incredibly grateful for their kindness and willingness to help. The cake turned out beautiful and absolutely delicious -- we went with "The Big One" theme, and the ombré blue design was perfect in every way. Thank you so much to the entire SusieCakes Costa Mesa staff for saving the day and making a stressed-out mom's life a little easier. Your service, care, and quality are unmatched!

When we ordered the cinnamon roll, there was no option to heat it up, so we thought they would have done it already. When it was served, it was rock solid. So, we asked them to heat it up. However, after a few minutes, it still wasn't that gooey and the inner core was still pretty tough. Perhaps they could have warmed it up so that it was evenly softened. Overall, the cinnamon roll was alright. It was a brioche roll so you would think it might be lighter and fluffy, but ours was pretty dry. However, the cream on top was insanely good. It carried the roll. The hazelnut twist was kind of what you would expect. A twisted pastry but with a hefty amount of hazelnut-chocolate spread thru the layers. We sat in a little nook, where there was a magnetic black board, where there were word tiles you could rearrange in any way. It was a nice place to just look around at all the sentences the community wrote. Chess tables were also available as extra seating. Overall, the service was good, but could be better when warming up pastries, so that the customer can enjoy them properly!

The self service, pre-made lunch bentos, sandos and sushi area is fine, but once you need assistance from a worker, it starts getting ridic. How so? You speak to whomever is attempting to assist you OVER and UNDER a twenty-four year old counter area that holds the pastries and/or through a tiny hole in the cabinets. You can hardly make eye contact with the person, because all the pastry is in between where you are standing and where they are standing. Some people are tall, some short, but regardless, there is NO WAY to have a conversation with them. They are trying to see what exactly you are possibly pointing to in the case, but as noted, you're talking thru a case of pastry. This is also true at the Fountain Valley location, where they only have a very small counter to check out with many people standing in line trying to have someone collect their order from the back. Maybe also ask WHY there is never any KINAKO donuts? I was there at 11 am and I got THE LAST ONE! If these are so popular, why don't you make enough to sell throughout the day? Every other time I've been here, you were already SOLD OUT! SMH HAS ANYONE HERE SEEN THE SELF SERVICE process at 85 degrees? All their pastry is individually wrapped and you calmly walk through the SELF SERVICE pastry area with a tray and tongs to help yourself. If you'd like to pass the person in front of you, it's easy and doable because there is plenty of room and it doesn't make anyone feel like you are taking "cuts". Once you get to the end, the cashier totals up your tray and puts it in a bag or box for you. Done & Done. Let me reiterate that your pastry and food are all above par and I know you've been in business since 2002 and let me commend you for 24 years of service, but it's time to CHANGE IT UP to a more user friendly process. It's not appealing to anyone in this busy day and age that there is a line out the door, ONLY BECAUSE THE PROCESS INSIDE NEEDS HELP! It's also more sanitary that the pastry and breads are wrapped ahead of time as I saw a fly inside the case today. Ugh.

This last visit was unfortunately very different. We came in with a fairly large party, and we completely understood that accommodating a group our size is a lot of work. When we got in line, the employee asked how many people were in our party, which made sense. However, we were then told that we could not all pay separately. This was confusing because payment is taken before you even sit down, so it's not like we were trying to split a bill afterward. Rather than make a fuss, we combined everyone's orders onto one card, totaling around $400. The food and drinks came out fairly quickly, which we appreciated. The reason I felt compelled to write this review, though, was because of how rude one particular employee was during the experience. She was wearing patriotic cat ears and appeared to be one of the baristas. One of my friends ordered a latte with alternative milk, but it seems the order may have been entered incorrectly. I've worked in the coffee industry myself, so I understand mistakes happen all the time, and remaking a drink is usually not a huge issue. Instead of handling it kindly, the employee responded with, "That's how it was put in, the request time has passed, that's our policy," in an incredibly dismissive and rude tone. We were honestly stunned. My friend, visibly uncomfortable, just quietly said "Okay," and the employee walked away. Nothing was offered to make the situation right. This happened after we had already spent hundreds of dollars and tipped before even being served. I'm not someone who enjoys complaining or writing negative reviews, but the interaction completely changed the experience for our entire group. What's most disappointing is that the refusal itself wasn't even the main issue, it was the attitude and apparent enjoyment in being dismissive over a very small and understandable mistake. I'm writing this mostly out of disappointment because I truly loved this place. I also think it's important for larger parties to know ahead of time that there appears to be a policy limiting payment methods, even though I've personally visited before with smaller groups where separate payments were allowed. I genuinely hope this was just an off day, because Eller Bakery has been a place I've loved supporting for a long time.

Finally made my way here after saying countless times how I should check it out and it did not…read moredisappoint! I wasn't really sure what to expect, so I went in with zero expectations. I went on a Friday night and it was VERY lively! There was a band playing by the bar and it was packed! People were drinking, dancing, hanging out. All of this is happening in a supermarket! Lots of food vendors to check out and all of it looked delicious! I don't remember the names of the places my friend and I ordered food from, but I had a chile relleno burrita, seafood cocktail, and pozole. I've never really had chile relleno, so I decided to just go for it and try something different even though there were other options that were more my preference. It was alright. Good thing it was only $5. The seafood cocktail was delicious! They did not skimp on the seafood and everything in it tasted so fresh. Pozole wasn't terrible, but just like my burrita, it was a bit on the bland side. Maybe my palate skews too heavily towards salty, but I felt like a little salt here and there would've really improved the flavors in everything we ordered. Overall the quality/freshness was there! Regarding the market part, nothing special. Maybe a little more selection than your typical Northgate, especially in the liquor department. Their wall of tequila was impressive. I will definitely be back again to try the other foods! In fact, I may just come all the way out here to do grocery shopping from time to time. I saw a guy doing some shopping with a cocktail in his cart and I want to live that life. Bro definitely had the right idea.

The Menudo from the Birrieria La Menuderia place inside Mercado Gonzalez is so good!…read more They always sell out before noon, so come early in the morning! They offer the rojo (red) and blanco (white) versions of Menudo. I love that it comes with a lot of meat and fresh tortillas to eat it with. There is so much flavor in the soup. They went up in price ($17.99) as of 2026, and although I think it's pretty pricey, if you're already shopping here and have a craving for menudo, I think it's worth splurging. People who work here are always super nice and friendly - I just love coming to this place for my menudo fix!

I usually love coming to sidecar because of their delicious donuts but I was very disappointed…read morewith the service I received today. It was 10 min before closing & idk if the girls were just rushing to close down but one girl in particular had an attitude. There was a miscommunication / misunderstanding with the girl who took my coffee order (I had assumed the seasonal banana latte came with the foam as pictured & because she didn't ask if I wanted the foam, I didn't ask for it more-so bc she asked if I wanted the brittle on top). When they handed me my drink it was a plain banana latte with no foam or brittle. I was ignored when I tried calling for the barista until another girl followed up - however this girl had an attitude. She told me that I must not have ordered it since they ask at the register if I want foam with brittle. Explained they didn't ask. Instead she just said "sorry I'll let them know for next time". And walked away leaving me with my drink as is. Didn't offer any sort of resolution. I walked in and asked they could charge me extra for the foam. The same girl with the attitude remade my drink and handed it to me. No thank you, no sorry, nothing. First time experiencing this kind of service. Not sure if the girl is new but saw someone else share a similar experience couple days ago. Wish I would have asked for her name!

Really good! I've been here many times but I realized I've never reviewed this place. Of all times…read moreI've been here, it's no question a 5 star. The donuts were really fresh and hot when we got them. My wife loves the butter and salt one and it's absolutely perfect! The saltiness balances out with the richness and sweetness. I also ordered the golden hour grey, which was the seasonal flavor, and it was really unique. It was citrusy and light. Sidecar is definitely in it's own league and its tough to find other donuts to really compete with them. The store was pretty small with very limited seating at this location so it's more of a grab and go type of location. It's not too far from the beach though. Service was really efficient. Even if there was a line, it goes by quite quickly. It's worth it anyways!

Churros like no other! I usually ask for no sugar since…read moretheir choux pastry dough is just right- specially when you get the churros with the español coco- perfect nice thick dipping hot cocoa with the right amount of bitterness and sweet. Truly the only way to eat churros- enjoying the simplicity of the light and airy crunch pastry and the rich bitter-sweet chocolate. We stopped by the location at the Mercado Market- the place was amazing and truly worth a visit. The stall was located across the market's bakery. You have a view of the people cooking the churros and preparing your order. Given that the stall in inside the market, it was vibrant and lively. I would pick up lunch at the market, grab churros and hot cocoa or coffee for dessert at El Moro and then shop at the market and bring home more goodies!

The only way to have a churro is a fresh churro, so if you're not getting these churros fresh out…read moreof the fryer, are you even living? There's usually a line for these, which means they're constantly churning them out so you're basically guaranteed a hot, crispy churro the moment you order. They are decently sized too, well over a foot long, though they have minis available if you're feeling modest (no judgment). The dipping sauces are a great addition to the churros. The dark chocolate has this unexpected blueberry-ish, fruity vibe that sounds weird but somehow pairs *perfectly* with the sweetness of the churro. They also have condensed milk, caramelized milk, and caramel if chocolate isn't your thing (thought I highly recommend the chocolate!) Bonus points for the tables if waiting until you get home to enjoy the churros may be too difficult: after all, the point of these is to have them as fresh as they come. They also have hot chocolate and other treats, but the churros is what I came for. I am sure I will make a return trip though and if the dipping chocolate is any indicaiton of how the hot choclate is, it may be something I'll need to try on my return visit!
