I ordered a lemon blueberry cake for my birthday. It wasn't cheap either, around $60. When I finally tried it, there no lemon flavor, the cake was very dry, and the frosting was overly sweet. It put a damper on my birthday. I ended up getting a refund. Maybe they were just having an off day. If not, I don't know how Susie Cakes has so many rave reviews. It's weird, I don't like cake but if it's in a convenient shape my brain tells me it's better than cake. I get one cupcake for 4.99 and request no packaging. It's gonna be devoured within the minute, why waste it. Put it straight in my hand. I don't even have photos of the cupcakes I get because I just shove them in my mouth immediately. I'm usually a regular at the location on La Brea & also in Brentwood.. I just visited this location today, and I didn't experience the staff to be as friendly and warm as the other locations. It felt a little more standoffish - no good vibes. Furthermore, I took home my berry cake slice & instantly noticed it's abnormally dark in the white cake area, which is not something I am used to. I usually eat my slice over a period of multiple days, and I've never experienced other locations to serve me a slice that eventually leads the cake slice to be super dense & gooey feeling. My cake slice from here, right off the bat, already tastes and feels off. I called in to inquire and address the issue & the employee who answered said this is normal due to the nature of the cake. Normally, I might actually believe it.. but the fact that I've already purchased this exact cake slice from other locations various times, and never had this occur, I'm just not sure what to believe. Best believe though, I won't be finishing this slice - it just tastes off and it sucks because the slices aren't cheap. I got through 75% of this last cupcake trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that there would be frosting inside, but I was disappointed again. Susie Cakes at the Hangar at LBX is the only location I've been to. I Came on my lunch break and found a parking spot right out front which is rare.. Parking at LBX can be hard, especially when it's busy, particularly during lunch. It's usually takes a few min to find a space. After having lunch I wanted a sweet treat!! This was my second time at Susie cakes and each time I've been greeted in such a nice way by the staff. There wasn't too many people there once I arrived and I wasn't sure what I wanted right away but they patiently waited until I was ready. The chocolate chip cookie, white vanilla cupcake and carrot cake all looked delicious. I ended up getting a slice of the carrot cake and I was very happy with what I got! It didn't take long for the cake to be sliced and boxed and they gave me a fork and napkins so I could eat it when I was ready. The total was a little over $7 with tip included. I sat at a table nearby and dug in! I would definitely have waited a bit longer to let it get a little more room temperature but it was delicious nonetheless. It had gold raisins, pecans, bits zucchini, and the cream cheese frosting brought it altogether. Next time I'll have to try the chocolate chip cookie and a vanilla cupcake to go . read more

I seen this place and wanted to give it a try because I was looking for a place to buy my daughter a upcoming birthday cake. So we came in to try a few cupcakes to get a feel for the place. The place was bright in color and really clean. It wasn't many people inside so ordering was easy. $5 per cupcake seems a bit expensive for the small size. We tried 4 different cupcakes. I didn't care about the price if the taste of the cupcakes were worth it. Turns out It wasn't worth it. The cake icing was really good on all four, however each cupcake was very dry and crumbly. At first I thought it was only 1 cupcake initially but as I tried the others it was the same thing. The box was cute but the cupcakes weren't that stable inside as a lot of the icing were attached to the paper divider. I don't feel confident getting my daughter a birthday cake from this place. I never write reviews on here but I had to with this. I love Susie cakes and love their red velvet cake so I wanted to get one for my 30th birthday. I decided to want a customized cake with their red velvet cake. Man that was the worst mistake ever lol The communication through email was super easy and they responded pretty quickly I sent them a picture of what I wanted and they said they could do it for me with the red velvet for $166 for a 6' which I thought was reasonable since the design looked I guess hard. Mind you I know a 6' is on the smaller size since I had gotten one for my son's 1st birthday and was able to serve more than 25 people with it plus leftovers. I didn't pick up the cake myself since I was busy decorating and dealing with my baby. I opened the box and was in disbelief how freaking small the cake was and how bad the design was. Even the writing of it saying happy birthday Everyone at my party was also in disbelief at how I paid that much for how small and bad it was and told me to leave a review cause how insane it is For $170 ??
