Have been going here for years and will not return. Had the same person who has always done my pedicure who barely acknowledged me , asked no questions about my comfort level and did nothing to help me when the manicure was finished. When I still gave her a more than generous tip she did not acknowledge it. The pedicure looks decent but she was way too rough massaging my legs and had actually caused a cut in my toe on another occasion leading to an ingrown toe nail. The place used to provide decent courteous service but I would never recommend it now. I don't expect people to coddle me but do expect courtesy and respect. read more

Went in for a spur of the moment pedicure on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty quiet inside so they were able to easily accommodate me. The salon has just a few pedicure chairs and then a bunch of other manicure nail stations on the other end. It's overall a pretty small but cozy spot. It's located upstairs, so may be an issue for someone with mobility issues. The person who did my manicure handled my feet well and was not very chatty, just went to work. Which is exactly how I like it. I removed a star because when I got home, I realized that a few toenails seemed a bit sloppy. read more

My last review was two stars, but my recent pedicure spurs me to reduce to one star. I'd give Susie's zero or negative stars if I could. My latest pedicure left my toe nails way too short with little scabs on my toes from over-aggressive callous removal. I now await anxiously to see if I get ingrown toenails requiring medical intervention. Yes, Susie's is shabby and worn, but I'm not one to require sparkly and shiny. They do everything they can to make you feel safe to get nail done during COVID. They ask your info, take temperature and ask you to wash your hands when you walk in. They sanitize chair and desk every time someone finish or before someone new comes in, there are divider between all chairs and empty seat in the middle. I feel completely safe to get my nail done and it is a big deal to get one of my normal routine back during COVID and I really appreciate they put all their efforts to stay open during this crazy time. read more

I couldn't decide what to give this place. Here is why: I am new to the city & needed to find a nail salon fast. I checked the reviews of this place and was hopeful! When I arrived, I walked into a very cramped nail salon. All was well, and I was hopeful. I sat down with nail tech Susie and she got to work on my dip powder manicure. Let me tell you, it HURT. She was very rough with my nails, so much so when she was filing my cuticles?? She made one of them bleed. I told her it hurt and to be careful and she said "okay" and then put acetone on it I tried to be polite but dang it hurt. She also was very sloppy with lotion application. When she rinsed my hands, water splashed everywhere (my arms, lap, all over the table), but she didn't seem to care. Long story short, she rushed so much, I didn't feel like she valued me as a customer, and I was cut however, I did leave with a good manicure ‍ but it was the negative experience and environment that will keep me from going there again. read more

** 3.5 STAR REVIEW ** My usual nail salon closed down and I went on Yelp to rely on my trusted Yelpers to point me in the right direction. This is what lead me to Susie's Nail Salon. I called around 11am this morning to see if I needed an appointment to come in later today, to where the woman responded yes, so I made one. I arrived a minute or two after my 2pm appointment and was quickly asked to take a seat at one of the spa pedicure station seats. I chose an orange-coral color for my toes and a French Manicure. The chairs do massage your back while you're receiving your pedicure. The employee did a great job on my toes and we went on to do my French Manicure. This is where it got a little tough for her. The tips were uneven and sizing was all off. Luckily the owner, Susie, was sitting right her and quickly jumped in to fix the issue by having another employee do my french tips for her; mind you I did not have to say anything for this to happen which was great. After I was all done I was moved to the drying station. There I noticed that the largest toe on my right foot had a dent in the nail polish. I quickly asked if it was OK to have it fixed and she came back to me with two different corals, a red-coral and an orange-coral. I told her that it was the orange-coral, but she stated that they were both actually the same color and she knew she used the red-coral on me -- so, not wanting to argue, I agreed with her and allowed her to paint my large toenail with the red-coral. After about 30mins of drying and two layers of top coat I was ready to go. I got some plastic on my toes, got my socks and shoes on and headed out. I didn't get home till 4hrs later and both my manicure and pedicure still look fantastic. The downside is that I can seriously tell that the big toenail on my right foot is a red-coral color while the rest of my toes are an orange-coral color =(. None-the-less I'll still come back and just hope it doesn't happen again; or at least remember the name of the color I use. I hope I found my new usual nail salon; if so, I'll probably be updating my review to give them that last star as I continue to visit. read more

I've gone to Susie's Nail Salon for a few years now and I can't recommend Susie and her team highly enough! It's a relatively small salon which I really appreciate because it allows me to know all of the manicurists by name, and they also know me and all of their regular clients personally which makes me (and I'm sure other clients) feel appreciated and valued! They are extremely professional, thorough and meticulous, talented, thoughtful, kind, accommodating, and really take their time with every service. It's absolutely the best salon I've found on the UWS (and in NYC). My nails always look amazing and my manicures and pedicures last 3+ weeks!! I love Susie's nail salon!! I have terrible nails (thin and dry) so I regularly come here for gel manicures ($37 if paying with a card). They have tons of color options - bright colors, nudes, dark colors, shimmer and changing colors. The gel manicures here always last me 2 weeks, but sometimes longer, depending on how long my nails are. I think if my nails were thicker they would probably last even longer! Definitely make an appointment if you are going to go on an evening or weekend. All of the staff is friendly and detail-oriented - I love Brianna and Irina but have had a great experience with everyone there. Also the salon is always clean. I just got my nails done (Dip Powder) on Friday. So less than 2 days ago and the nail is already broken. So expensive as well 57 dollars. Job was extremely rough on my cuticles, I was bleeding afterward. I had a feeling that the coat was too thin and would not last after they may me dry my nails under the machine. Which you are never supposed to need to do with the dip powder. I will be following up on Monday when they open and I will expect that they fix it for free. Very unhappy. read more

$25 pedicure! What more can you ask for on the UWS? This place seems pretty popular and I will definitely make a reservation next time. I got lucky and they took me immediately as a walk in. Unfortunately I don't know my pedicurists name, but she was great and very attentive to my (gross) feet. I haven't gotten a pedicure in almost a year and it definitely showed on my feet. I forgot how nice it feels to have freshly polished toes. What is great about the basic pedicure here is that they do free callus removing. I felt so bad for the woman who had to deal with my worn and torn feet. I workout a lot so my feet were pretty bad. After my pedicure my feet were so soft. I appreciate the time they take here to service you. Nothing is worse than feeling rushed when you get your nails done. I will review again in a few days to comment on longevity of the pedicure. I will definitely be back :) Updated 6/12 : 10 days later my pedicure is still intact. It's hands down the best nail salon in all of new york, I still now travel from Tribeca to go to Susies. They take the most care of your hands and feet, a usual appointment takes around 45 minutes, and the extra details are worth it. They apply special lotions, foot and hand massages, nothing like I've experienced before in other salons. On top of this, Susie is there always and treats her staff well. As soon as I walked in, I had bad vibes immediately. They weren't very welcoming at all and I felt like I was getting judged hardcore. Maybe it was my scrubs? (I had a long day at work, excuse me.) They began with my pedicure, which turned out to be a streaky mess...but besides that, they wanted to do my gel nails at the same time. I was uncomfortable and had to put my hands in weird and awkward positions. Then finally, "I could move to the regular table". I stumbled across Susie's on Yelp after moving to the Upper West Side. Overall it was a good first visit. THE PROS: The staff was friendly, made small talk, and explained what they were doing. They were very reasonably priced -- for a mani and pedi is was $37 (before tip), and my feet were a MESS. This was my first pedi in like 3 months (don't judge, I've been busy), so my feet were a disaster. Marie gave me my pedicure and did an amazing job. She cleaned up my heels, dealt with my cuticles, and painted 'em nice and pretty. I will absolutely return to Marie again. THE CONS: The establishment is a bit small for the amount of equipment so it feels cramped when moving from chairs to tables to dryers. While this is certainly not their fault, the clientele I encountered during my visit were all a bunch of douche canoes. First there was the first woman who made the manicurist get up eight times to find her a different color that was "more purple" (they all looked exactly the same -- when the color is that dark, the slight purple makes zero difference). Please note, this woman was wearing a full Spanx bodysuit under her leggings. Enough said? Then there was the elderly woman who talked for an hour and half straight -- but she wasn't the problem. The problem was the woman next to me who made incredibly rude comments about the chatty woman within earshot, kept loudly sighing, and was visibly annoyed. I get that listening to someone talk during your mani/pedi may be annoying, but the elderly (and lonely!) woman was nothing compared to the woman who bitched about it. So unnecessary. Have some damn compassion. In short, bring a book and some headphones -- but Susie's is definitely worth the visit. read more

The outside appearance of the salon is not the greatest and I will admit that I walked with some trepidation into the place. I was pleasantly surprised by the immaculate cleanliness of the pedicure chairs and the warm bright lighting of the room. My manicure was done by Susie herself who did an excellent job and was a joy to talk with. Maria did my pedicure and as has been mentioned in previous reviews, is incredible at providing great service. My feet have never been this well treated even compared to more upscale places like Burke-Williams. In sum, this business is well-run, has excellent employees, provides great service, very clean and best of all, the prices are more than reasonable. I paid $35 for both the pedicure and manicure but given the level of treatment, I should have honestly been charged at least twice that. read more

I couldn't make a decision because it was my first time having someone do my nails for me, and quite frankly I wasn't that much looking forward to it. The place is located on the first floor in a neighborhood packed with nail salons... It's not extravagant, and quite humble but the ladies there are sweet and it feels like the word by mouth works. Lorena took almost 2 hours to fix my terrible nails...Since it wasn't busy that day I can appreciate her patience and the time she took. She was meticulous and still efficient. I know that working on me was quite a challenge since my nails were short, but she did a wonderful job with my extensions and manicure. I would definitely come back again.
