This was my first time at Suspiro, and unfortunately, I was not impressed. The food was mostly good. Everything was seasoned well, but nothing felt particularly special. A miss for us was the scallops with green cream dish. The scallops were fishy, not seared properly, and didn't pair well with the sauce. The service was lacking, and our server was inattentive. I think part of it is that they were bartending as well. That said, our water was never refilled at our table, and we struggled to get their attention to order additional items. Additionally, when making a reservation, I indicated that we were celebrating an anniversary, and no one mentioned it. That was disappointing. I hope that others have better experiences here, but I don't think I will be back. read more

Been meaning to try Suspiro for a while, so decided to drop by for a quick lunch. Was very quiet on a weekday and pretty much empty and I was able to get seated immediately. The ambiance is really modern, spacious, and bright. I loved that the floor to ceiling windows could open up on a nice, warm day. After looking at their lunch menu, I went with the Lomo Saltado con Gnocchi- Beef tenderloin tips, potato gnocchi, snap peas, sweet soy emulsion ($29) and the Pan con Tomate- Toasted focaccia, Campari tomato, EVOO, sea salt ($10). My entree was delicious: the beef was so tender and the sauce was delicious. Gnocchi was bouncy and perfectly chewy. Loved the addition of the snap peas and onions with the dish, would maybe even ask for more veggies next time. Portion was a bit small for the price, but at least it tasted good. I didn't get to try the appetizer because as soon as I saw it, I sent it back. For $10, I didn't anticipate it to look like leftover toast with a dollop of tomato sauce. Straightforward as salads go. - Ceviche de Camaron, $24 (4*) Beautifully plated. Cool concept with the sorbet. On the menu it's listed as a rocoto sorbet. It seemed more like there were simply hot peppers in the ceviche, with what seemed like a passionfruit sorbet on top. It was a little confusing how to eat it- I ended up using the sorbet individually as a chaser to tamp down the heat from the pepper. The shrimp were all very tender, and I loved the red onion throughout. Interesting concept, which could elevate to 5* if presented a little differently. - Causa de Congrejo y Camaron, $22 (3*) Like everything else, it was plated beautifully. It was difficult to eat without disassembling everything. The purple potatoes were vibrant but themselves could have used a little seasoning. The crab meat could have been better as lump rather than small shreds. The shrimp while billed as tempura didn't seem like tempura batter. Just fried. The overall bite, when I got a little bit of everything, was pretty good. - Pasta y Puerco, $26 (2*) Kind of a confusing dish. Probably shouldn't have ordered it in the first place. Bucatini in a Spanish/ Peruvian place... the meat itself became overcooked sitting in the hot pasta. They should have layered it on top or on the side. The flavors were a bit muddled from all the cream sauce. - Value (3*) There was enough food to feel full, but some portions felt a little light relative to price. - Final Word Mixed bag. Wife dressed super hot, and the ambiance fit her style, so just for that I might go back! Everything is beautiful to look at. My partner and I decided to have a date night and try a place that we had not frequented before. The online photos of the restaurant made the space look a bit small and dim. It's quite sizable, nicely lit, and overall so much nicer in person. We sat at the bar and the gal who took care of us was fantastic. She was very helpful when inquiring about drinks and options on the menu. The food itself was pretty mediocre and not as fresh as I expected. We ordered the Patatas Bravas the Paella Fideuá Negra. Absolutely Outstanding Experience We visited Suspiros to celebrate our Son's birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. From start to finish, everything was phenomenal. We began with the Rishi Jasmine Organic Green Tea, which was incredibly refreshing. The food was outstanding across the board. The Patas Bravas were flavorful and perfectly prepared, the ceviche was bright, fresh, and absolutely delicious, and the pork rib and chicken paella was rich, hearty, and bursting with flavor. Every dish was truly scrumptious. To make the celebration even more special, they surprised our Son with a bread pudding dessert covered with cranberry sauce and popcorn, which was such a thoughtful and unique touch and completely made his day. Our server, Kayla, was completely on point, attentive, warm, and incredibly accommodating, especially with our food allergies. The manager checked on us regularly, which added such a personal and caring element to the experience. This Spanish-Peruvian mash up was an absolute delight. Great for large or small groups, tapas style so great for sharing. The staff was super friendly and very helpful with the menu. The food is a rolling kitchen so it comes out as it's ready. The cocktails are fantastic so highly recommend if you are a cocktail fan. Now to the food: Patatas bravas- sizable portion but not enough sauce Croquetas de jamon serrano - new addition to the menu. As expected. Empanadas de carne (2 per dish) - AWESOME flavor. Had such a great experience at Suspiro. The ambience was fun, energetic, and super vibey, perfect for a girls night out and definitely going to come back for a date night. The music, atmosphere, and overall energy made it such a good spot to spend the evening. Our server, Lucky, was wonderful and so attentive the entire night. He checked on us often, made sure everything came out smoothly and was always kind and personable. His service really added to the experience. He honestly made the experience 1000x better. Came to Suspiro again because I loved it so much last time, but today's visit was very disappointing. Ordered the salmon ceviche as an appetizer because our server highly recommended it - this was our first mistake. He described it as similar to salmon carpaccio or sashimi but the salmon had a fishy taste and had a strange texture. We definitely should have stuck to the ceviche de clasico. We also ordered the paella de mariscos again since this was our favorite dish last time. Unfortunately, the paella came out soggy and bland. The shrimp on top was mushy, indicating its lack of freshness. We were so surprised at the huge drop in quality in this dish between our first visit and this visit. Despite the misses with the food, the service was great - our server was friendly and made an effort to make our experience positive. He also took the paella back to the kitchen and had it cooked for 5 more minutes to make it a bit more crispy. I came here for my birthday dinner with my girlies back in December. Vibes were great! Service was good. Food... not the best tapas and for the price, could've been better. Funny thing is we all agreed that their truffle mushroom sandwich-like dish was the best out of all. It was like a grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms and omg amazing. They only have maybe one, two bartenders though (and this was on a Saturday night) so they do warn you on the drink menus that because these are craft cocktails, you'll have to wait awhile for your drinks. I'd recommend getting a reservation so you have a guaranteed spot upon arrival; makes it easy to checkin with the hostess at the restaurant and be escorted back. Five days before a date, I went to Suspiro to make a reservation in person. I asked for a specific little booth be held for my date. Five days later, on the way to restaurant, I told my date I had picked a specific table for us. When we were being seated, the server led us to a different area than originally reserved. I saw the booth I had picked had been given away to another couple. Embarrassed, I asked to sit in the original area I had planned and had to play off that the table we sat at was the one I picked out. A place that (1) can't be entrusted with something as basic as holding a reservation and (2) cant show basic respect for customer who take time to be thorough and meticulous do not deserve anyones business. Imagine a more serious request like a food allergy.... There is another fine Tapas restaurant a five minute walk away. And there are many restaurants on Santana Row that know how to hold a reservation properly. Update: Someone from the restaurant reached out concerning my experience. But after giving the information I covered in this review there was absolutely no follow up --- just lip service. Considering the last handful of reviews of Suspiro are terrible, it seems they aren't interested in improving their service at all. read more

It's a beautiful restaurant, with delicious plates of food, and good service. It's my first time to try the place and it was a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance is bright and relaxing, with wooden fixtures and good outdoor sunlight. It was lunch hour but the place is not packed. We got seated right away. We decided to try the Vegetarian Paella, an eggplant dish, and chicken skewers (see photos). The eggplant dish tastes clean and light. If you like healthy, this is for you. The chicken skewer is flavorful and on the spicy side. It takes around half an hour for the Paella dishes to come out. But it's worth the wait. I like that they can make the rice dish tasty without being crazy on the seasoning. It's just the right amount of flavors. Got me curious what the seafood version would taste like. Will reserve it for another time. The Inca Empire drink I got is a refreshing drink, a touch of sweet cola with pomegranate, dragon fruit, and popping boba. Cute place with outdoor seating. We went on a hot day and sat outside for dinner. The ceviche wasn't as chilled as I like. The croquettes with jamon were good. I didn't like the lentil salad it was too hard and not cooked enough and didn't have flavor. The burrata salad was good but basic and the burrata was super tiny and there were barely any ham crisps. The shrimp didnr have much garlic flavor and was different than the ones you'd actually get at tapas places in Spain. My boyfriend and I decided to go to Santana Row to see the Christmas decorations. I had Suspiro bookmarked and we decided to eat here. It was busy inside of the restaurant so the only tables available were outside and we were fine with that. We were seated right away and our waiter came by and got us some water. He explained to us that it is really busy and the kitchen may be backed up with their orders so our waiter gave us a heads up that it may be a wait for food. He also let us know that paella is ususally a 30-40 minute wait, but may be delayed. We were fine with that. Really appreciated that he let us know. We ordered a couple drinks. My boyfriend ordered a beer on tap and I got one of their Christmas cocktails. I can't remember what was in it, but it was too strong for me lol. For food, we went with the ceviche mixto and the paella de carne. When we placed our order, our waiter asked if we wanted some chips with our ceviche and I said sure (not knowing it was $6 for a small portion of chips). I would probably skip out on the chips because they were so pricey. We waited a bit and then we got our ceviche mixto. It was so good! When it comes to ceviche, I am only familiar with either peruvian ceviche or the ceviche with tomato/red based sauce. Not sure what this one was made with but it worked and it was delicious! Flavor (4/5): The ceviche is to die for! I loved all the textures and flavors it came with, super bright and explosive! You have to get a side order of chips to eat it with. The fried calamari was also quite good with the shishito peppers paired with it. Lastly we had this fried triangle sandwich thing which wasn't too memorable to me (clearly as I can't even remember the name of the dish). I would pass on that but get everything else! Instagram Worthy (5/5): The restaurant itself is beautiful and grand! They had a live band playing at moments which really filled the atmosphere. Be aware they now charge you 5% additional "operation fee". We didn't get notified beforehand, or during pay bill time. It's written at the bottom of the last page of menu. Came to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday here. It was Labor day and the row was not busy at all. The waiter was taking a while to grab our orders even though it was not busy and we were ready to order our food too. I like the complimentary Peruvian corn. The sangria and beer were so refreshing for a hot summer day. The food was average. The best thing was the ham cheese coquettes which are 6 pieces for $18. Probably the best thing we had the entire meal. The chicken ones weren't all that great. Chicken in the oven (pollo a la brasa) is just ok here. For $22, it was nothing spectacular. Ceviche Mixto - which came with white fish, shrimp, scallops, octopus, leche de tigre, Rocoto pepper is $31 which is an appetizer size. A group of 14 of us went to Suspiro Restaurant today in Santana Row and wow was it fabulous! It features Spanish and Peruvian cuisine with uplifted classics such as ceviche, paella, empanadas, croquettes and many inventive dishes by executive chef Yerika Munoz Rodriguez. We tried it all and every single dish was beautifully presented and delicious! They also have an extensive cocktail menu. I could be happy just munching on the bowl of crunchy cancha with a pretty drink in hand. That stuff is addicting! Rodriguez was previously at Frida Mexican Cuisine and Cantina Frida in Beverly Hills, and worked with celebrated Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio at Astrid y Gaston in Mexico City. Our server Oswaldo, was perfectly gracious and shared with us about the secret Speakeasy in the back. Tried out Suspiro at Santana Row and had a really nice time! Last minute reservation so we were given a table on the patio, and it was perfect for a warm winter night. They had heaters, but we didn't even need them. The food was super tasty and felt really authentic. The cocktails were awesome, pretty and delicious. Heads up though: the paella takes a while to cook, so you might want to order it early. It's good, but I thought the prices overall were a little steep. The rest of the menu has a great variety, and everything else we tried was solid. What really made the night special was the location. Santana Row is gorgeous right now with all the Christmas lights and decorations, it really gets you in the holiday spirit. Happy hour is Monday to Thursday 2-5pm. - La mar ($12 at happy hour): pisco based with tropical flavors, like a tiki drink served in a tiki cup - Anticuchos suspiro: 2 skewers for $10 (chicken or trumpet mushroom). Lucky, who also accommodated and served us during our reservation, made sure everything ran smoothly. He made sure the guests' requests were addressed and that the food were served on schedule. I visited this restaurant with a group of friends for a reservation at 7PM on a Saturday. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our table wasn't ready and we were asked to wait "just a couple of minutes," which turned into 40 minutes. This was really disappointing, especially since we had a reservation, and it was a bit frustrating to see other tables being seated before us. Once we were seated, we were happy that the food arrived relatively quickly considering the wait, but things took a concerning turn when we noticed that the paella had prawns, even though the menu clearly stated shrimp. One of my friends has a severe allergy to prawns, and when we asked the server, she confirmed they were prawns, which made us even more anxious. After flagging down the waitress again to express our concern, she went to consult with the manager. The manager then returned to tell us that it was actually shrimp, but by that point, we were too scared to touch the dish at all. While the manager eventually offered to comp the paella we ordered, we were still upset that our allergy concern wasn't addressed with more care upfront, especially since we had mentioned it twice. We were left feeling quite disappointed with the service and the lack of clarity around food safety, and it left a sour note on what should have been a fun night out. Overall the food was decent however a bit pricey for the portion size. Given that this restaurant is in Santana Row, that should be expected. read more

I am a sucker for good tapas and Suspiro is a welcome add to the South Bay dining scene. It's at the end of the Santana Row strip and is well-decorated and welcoming.
