Susupuato is the best Mexican restaurant on the North Side. Hands down my favorite place. The service is always amazing, the food is to die for, and the ambiance is very cozy. Their margaritas are some of the best at margs that I have ever had and your food always come with chips and salsa. Also Loyola students receive a 15% discount on every meal!

Wow, wow, wow! Welcome Susupuato to the hall of fame. Boom! Automatically admitted. We start with a traditional lime margarita. Not too sweet, present lime flavors, a little citrus, and noticeable booziness. While not the best I'd had, it was a basic item done right. It is also light orange in color... juice, perhaps? Don't know, and honestly, does it matter? Am I Lillian Bloom from "The Menu"? No. Just a guy with a Yelp account, and time (plus restless fingers) on his hands. Final note: they start at a "large" 17oz variant... so you know it's going to be a good time! I wasn't even halfway through, and it was already a party! I have work tomorrow you glorious people! After my recent taco craze, I saw the Enchiladas de Mole on the menu, and they immediately called out to me. Kind of like in Harry Potter, Olivander says "the wand chooses the wizard," well, the meal chooses [me]. At my server's suggestion, I ordered them with chicken. I think I have made Mole once before, and it didn't work for me, yet I was very hopeful. Trying the sauce on the tines of my fork, I immediately knew I made the right call. A little sweet, a light kick, and a divine savoriness! Chicken filling is tender as can be, I think the tiny bit of salt it is seasoned with is all it needs. Like with the margarita, simplicity done right. The rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Though the refried beans surprised me! These seemed homemade, and were creamy if that makes sense! I might even ask for seconds! I gloriously 'licked' (with fork and rice) the plate clean. If you see me here tomorrow, don't be surprised! The service was also fantastic! Quick, attentive, personable, friendly - what great service should be! Where it comes to prices, these are in-line with what I expect from Chicago, however this is just numbers. A drink with the strength of three and Enchiladas God eats at least weekly, the value to second-to-none. To keep Yelp happy: I loved their vibe as well! There is plenty of room, the decor is tasteful and not overdone, and clean of course. Dude... come here already!!

We are so very lucky to have this place in our neighborhood. we've been going here for a couple of years now and we've literally not had one bad piece of anything at this restaurant. Everything there is made with such love and care and precision. It's amazing. Plus the staff including the owner Tony, are always so kind. Really makes you feel like home. As far as specific recommendations I was always someone who never cared for molé, but Tony asked me to try it the first time we were there and I got hooked. It's the perfect recipe for Molé. Not too chocolatey just a little bit spicy, very smooth. I also highly recommend the tostadas.

Amazing mole chicken enchiladas. Great place for a party or a date. Fantastic service that deserves all the praise. Happy to skip flacos and eat here instead.

After a year of sedentary living, I have slowly reintroduced myself to the gym. And although I have been cooking at home so to maintain my discipline with being a pescatarian, there are times when I have started ordering for takeaway. However, while in Chicago's Edgewater buying Ethiopian spices for recipes, I stopped by a Mexican restaurant on the way home. Susupuato Restaurant and Taqueria at 6161 N. Broadway Avenue was just what I needed. I ordered guacamole with chips and a platter of fish tacos with Spanish rice and refried beans. First to the table were complementary chips with salsa. Unlike most salsa, this was not of the chunky variety. There still was flavor in each bite. Then there was a soup on the house, which was a tomato based soup that had noodles and cilantro in it. The guacamole was a plus. It wasn't salty, like I've had at a few taquerias, and there was a fair enough amount of cilantro in it to give it a flavorful boost. Loved every bit of the fish tacos. The chef chopped up the tilapia, so they were not whole pieces. The butter, onions, tomatoes, and chipotle sauce in the recipe really kicked them up a notch. Topped with avocado slices, they will be my "go to" tacos for when I return. The Spanish rice and refried beans were seasoned just right, not bland, and not salty. Because of COVID, there may be more takeaway and delivery than in-house dining. Nevertheless, whatever you buy is worth it, if you like a little authenticity in your Mexican dining rather than something bordering on fast food. Add to that good service, I will certainly stop in again next time I am in Edgewater and want something before heading to my next destination.

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. One of those dinners where you leave already talking about when you're coming back If you're looking for the place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, date night, tacos & margaritas, or honestly just an incredible dinner in general... this is IT

I must admit that I had low expectations because quite frankly, I have not enjoyed Mexican food outside of Mexico or California. However, we were hungry, and it was near where we were staying, so I decided we should check it out, and I am so glad we did! The food was great. Both adults and the VERY picky children in our group all enjoyed our meals. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas and the other adult ordered a chile relleno combo, which I also got to try. Everything was delicious and devoured by all! We were so full but the owner talked us into the chocoflan, and we did not regret trying it. It was soooo good! Speaking of the owner, the service was great. We really enjoyed how he and the rest of the staff were very courteous. It is a small establishment, and it gets a good amount of people, so I assume that there are waits during peak hours. I highly recommend Sabroso! Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it!
