Had a really nice experience here! My family visited to celebrate my dad's birthday, and this place was really quite a treat. Service was stellar -- we were appropriately taken care of, but also given a good bit of space when needed. The ambience was admittedly a little noisy, but nothing too bad. The food was very tasty: I had the 12oz filet, my dad the New York steak, my grandpa the brick chicken, and my mom a collection of sides she strung into an entree. They even surprised us with a lava brownie cake topped with ice cream, as well as a birthday card signed by the staff. We had a very enjoyable dinner at Sutter Street Steakhouse with several friends. It is their favorite place for date night and after our dinner, it will definitely r on our list. The restaurant is tucked in Old Folsom not far from the river. It's very roomy inside without allot of noise. There is also plenty of spacing between the tables so you're not crowded. Obviously, we all got steaks and also lobster tails with a side or two and although we were hungry, it was plenty of food and was cooked to perfection! The staff made great suggestions and they were very helpful and checked on us several times. We saved some room for some crème brûlée as well. We loved it there and will be back! read more

We recently celebrated a family birthday at Sutter Street Steakhouse and, unfortunately, left disappointed. Our bill for four people was just under $400, and the overall value simply didn't match the price. I ordered the 14 oz. ribeye and was surprised when it arrived. It was only about a half-inch thick and looked more like a flat steak than the thick, well-marbled ribeye I was expecting. For the price, I anticipated a much higher-quality presentation and cut of meat. One thing that stood out throughout the evening was the number of unexpected up-charges. My entrée came with garlic mashed potatoes, and since I'm not a fan of garlic mashed potatoes, I asked the waiter if I could substitute a baked potato. He said, "No problem," but never mentioned there would be an additional $6 charge. It wasn't about the six dollars, it was the lack of transparency. The same thing happened with my beer. I ordered one at the bar before our table was ready for $8. When I moved to the dining table, I assumed it would simply be added to our dinner bill. Instead, I was charged $11 for the beer at got at the bar. We also brought our own birthday cake. I understood there would be a cake-cutting fee of $2 per person for our party of four. However, the bill reflected a $12 charge instead of $8. Again, not a huge amount of money, but it reinforced the feeling that every opportunity for an extra charge was being taken. There wasn't even a simple "Happy Birthday" from the staff, which made the fee feel even less justified. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and the service was friendly, but the steaks were average at best. For nearly $400, I expected a dining experience closer to what you'd receive at a premier steakhouse, with exceptional food and presentation. Instead, the meal reminded me of what you could find at many good mid-priced steakhouses for considerably less. Overall, Sutter Street Steakhouse has a pleasant setting, but the value simply wasn't there for us. Sutter Street Steakhouse is a place we always enjoy and it consistently delivers a solid meal. The steaks are not exceptional but they are reliably good and for the area it is one of the better options. Within the Sacramento steakhouse scene you can count on Sutter Street to be above average even if it does not reach the level of some of the high-end steakhouses we have visited elsewhere. On our most recent visit we started with the Washington oyster special which was excellent. They were fresh clean and delicious and we could have easily eaten many more. The wedge salad was below average though and felt more like something you would find at a diner than a steakhouse side. For our mains we had the filet and the New York strip with a blue cheese crust. The filet came out undercooked at first but they corrected it right away without any issue. Both steaks were good and well seasoned but not particularly memorable which is honestly the general theme here in a good way. Overall Sutter Street Steakhouse is dependable. You will always have a good meal excellent service and a lovely warm environment. It is above average for Sacramento and a place we return to often even if it feels average compared to some other steakhouse experiences we've had. read more

My favorites were the oysters (soo fresh! watch out for the horseradish XD) and the bacon brie & jam. I also enjoyed the onion rings. I got the smaller filet cooked medium and it was excellent! Very delicious. I am sad that this meal doesn't come with vegetables on the side but it does come with this head of garlic that is so great for me as a garlic lover. It does get sort of messy squeezing it out with your hands but worth it for a couple bulbs. The mashed potatoes were good, but nothing crazy special. This was our first time eating at the restaurant. It being New Year's Eve, it was extremely busy. Even so, the service was outstanding. Our waitress Jessica is a rock star! She patiently explained the menu and answered all of our questions. We ordered across the menu: a ribeye, a filet, the salmon, and one of the daily specials, scallops. We also ordered the Brie and bacon jam appetizer and one of our party had a Caesar Salad. There were a couple of substitutions: extra spinach instead of mashed potatoes with the salmon and fingerling potatoes instead of the mashed potatoes with the ribeye. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as well. Everything was delicious and prepared exactly as ordered. The proteins were substantial, well worth the price. We tried two desserts, the crème brûlée and the banana cheesecake. They matched the quality of the entrees. Everyone remarked on how great the sourdough bread that was brought to the table was. As the ladies in our party said, you could make a meal out of the bread along with some cheese and wine. We were seated in one of the side rooms, which didn't seem to hinder the service at all. Reservations were for 7:30 and we arrived a little early, since we were familiar with the parking situation at that time of night. Folsom at this time of night is beautifully lit, and we parked out front and arrived on time. Once at the hostess arrived we checked in and waited a few minutes and then were walked to our table for two on the back patio, overlooking some of the Folsom nightlife. At first where we were at was a little dark, and it made it hard for my girlfriend to see and read her menu. As the light was coming from behind the opposite side of me, casting a shadow over, and blocking out what little light we had. Eventually after being there for maybe 10-15 minutes, someone realized more light was needed out on the patio and turned on the Cafe lights behind us. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and the staff were very attestation. And constantly checked up on us. My husband and I came here on a Friday night and were able to get the last reservation time at 9:30pm and they closed at 10pm. The moment you walk in, you immediately feel a high-end steakhouse ambiance. Though the food was top notch, the service was above and beyond! Our reservation was at 9:30pm and we left around 10:15pm! Service was so quick in taking our orders, getting our food and drinks, and the check. The whole process from being seated to paying the check was very smooth. I wish I remembered our waiter's name because he checked on us so frequently that I lost count of how many times he came to our table to check if we needed anything and refill our water cups! Now regarding the food, we ordered the Warm Brie & Bacon Jam starter to share, my husband got the Ribeye with a Koku cocktail, and I got the Filet Mignon with a Pear Tini cocktail. My girlfriends and I love doing "girl dinner" ordering apps, (order one of all of their potato sides) but my husband and I can always count on them for quality steaks for date night. It's particularly loud inside, people competing over other loud voices. We were greeted by the waitress, extremely sweet. Ordered the brie with a bacon jam and calamari, which was a phenomenal start. I ordered the swordfish which was so soft, it fell apart, with beets. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the stems cooked in with them, some of the stems were the solid, parts, no matter how much you cook, they still are on the sharper side, so left a lot on my plate. My fiancé loved his steak, and lobster dish, our friends loved their dishes as well. Is it worth the price?? I'd say yes, and I'd definitely want to try more of the menu. read more

The service was really slow so I'm thinking they wanted the guest to relax and enjoy their time here. But no the service is just slow. The very worst part of this experience is they put a party or six on each side of us. I couldn't hear myself think let alone have a nice conversation The food was actually pretty good. However the ambiance is absolutely terrible. Best comparison I can think of is Outback Steakhouse with a little better food at three times the price. A disappointment. This was my second attempt at giving this place a chance. The first was a couple of years ago, when I found the steak tough and largely inedible. This time, however, the small filet mignon was decidedly better and the accompanying mashed potatoes were superb! The service, however, sucked. The waiter was clearly rushed, gave us incomplete information, and appeared to be disinterested. In fact, as he gave us the check, he announced he was "done with my 40 hours for the week and I'm out-a-here." Specifically notably, he failed to offer a vegetarian option of pasta to one of our vegan dinner partners, failed to offer any sauce options for my steak, provided me with a 6-oz glass of wine instead of asking if I wanted a 9-oz portion (I did, and he had to return it). The salmon ordered by two others in my party was overcooked and the portion appeared to be on the small size. This place is large and needs to sell a lot of dinners to stay in business. Upon getting seated, our server, Daren, came right over and introduced himself. From start to finish, he was friendly and personable and made our visit amazing. For our mains, I ordered the signature Molè and he ordered the Rib Eye. We asked for medium rare on both. My steak was slightly underdone and could have had more of the fat rendered, but the flavor was amazing and made up for this. The thickness of the cut definitely would have been better as a medium cook. Potatoes for the both of us were spot on, and the rib eye was flawless! Food was amazing! Halibut was fresh, filet and ribeyes were delicious. Although, I did order a medium rare filet and half of the cut was rare and the other medium well. Definitely recommend getting the farmer's selection! You can switch out the side or share between 2-3 people. I think service could have been a bit better. Our server started telling us about the specials and then moved to the other end to start taking orders, which I thought was interesting. Overall, she handled a large group of 10 people well! I was pleasantly surprised with how great the food and service was! Our waiter said he was such a big fan of the restaurant and that's why he wanted to work there, and everything he suggested was outstanding. The ambience was classy although slightly dated but maybe it's the charm in it. I can't wait to go back! read more
