If you're looking for great a great small town diner that serves the kind of food you grew up with, this is the joint. Their menu is huge and so are their portions! I am no girlie man when comes to packing in the comfort food, but my brother-in-law & I could barely split the Carnivore burger between us! I've been going to Suzan's for years for breakfast, and they are the best place in town. I started go here after walking into the local Denny's and found young people sleeping in their booths. That and the fact that Denny's has what I call "plastic" food made me consider something new. I like the eggs benedict even though the sauce is from a can. Good coffee, too. Had lunch for two. One patty melt and one sliced beef sandwich, with two iced teas. Iced ted and service were good. Sandwiches were okay. Employees kids running around kitchen shooting rubber bands and being noisy, not so good. Cleanliness of inside front door, carpeting, phone at register very poor. Hope kitchen was cleaner. They're still OK, but I think that the food quality, portion size and service have all gone down a bit over the last year. Most notably for me is the once fantastic bleu cheese dressing, it used to be thick and flavorful. The last three times, it has been runny and not near as tasty. The mini loaf of bread with real butter has been replaced with a smaller roll size bread and I'm pretty sure it wasn't butter. The side salad with dinner used to be fairly decent. The last time I was there, it was just some iceberg lettuce and a few tomatoes. Saving money? Very sad! read more

I have never gone to this restaurant before and I never will, again! I went there for lunch today, 8/24/18, sat at a table and waited for the waitress. She brought over a menu and asked me if I wanted coffee. I told her "no" then she asked about water. I held up my bottled water and told her "no". She left while I looked at the menu. I finally made my choice. She came by and told me she would be back in a minute while she took the order from the table behind me. She then left to the kitchen. She came out, looked my way, and went to another table toward the front door and talked to the patrons. She returned to the kitchen and came out with a coffee pot and filled another patron's cup. She looked at me several times as I sat there waiting to order. She then went back into the kitchen and I got up and left, telling the other waitress that I was leaving because the other one refused to wait on me. read more

Yummmmm! We ate here twice in one weekend! Stumbled onto this place by accident and it is love at first bite! The food was great! We ate there for lunch and came back for breakfast. The service was fantastic! The menu was...well...vast! Tons to choose from and everything was very good. We had a baby with us and they were very accomodating to the baby. Daughter lives in Shelton she said she wanted to eat here that she had before, we pull up to this very bright yellow small old building. The service was quick, friendly, polite. The menu is huge! The food was absolutely great!!! Daughter had a fish sandwich, it had not 1 piece of fish but 2, 2 slices of cheese plus the works, this sandwich was by far larger than her mouth and her stomach, she couldn't even eat half, half went home. Husband had BLT, same thing there, very large lots of beautifully cooked thick slices of bacon. I highly recommend this place to anyone. The menu has things you only dream of on it. read more

I find myself working in Shelton often and it's 1.5 hours from home. Always looking for a great little place to eat. It's certainly not what you might expect from looking at the outside. The food is tasty and the portions generous. I have always found the waitstaff to be friendly and engaging. My son said they have the best "honey mustard" in the state! Affordable for all budgets. Big portions-Almost everything could be split between two people... if solo eat it all cause their food is awesome! Some of the reviews here say "divey". Id beg to differ. It is my new favorite for breakfast and I can't wait to try it for lunch- I just don't get to Shelton very often. I was super hungry and could barely finish half my breakfast- huge portion of chicken fried steak, gravy, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. Everything was so good- my husband had corned beef hash- now this was real corned beef hash. You know how sometimes when you order that its all cubed up and smushed together all weird-- no sirree- not here- this is real big chunks of corned beef, home fries, peppers and onions that still had a tiny bit of a crunch to it- not overcooked at all- then topped w 3 perfectly cooked over easy eggs. So hard to choose what to get here- they have outdone themselves on their menu- choices for everyone- and really awesome and interesting dishes on there in addition to just the good ol' everyones favorites. I am soooo going back to try a burger- can't wait. read more

I am a local Sheltonite and have not been to this place in 4 or more years do to pricing and service issues. I was very happy to find that new owners took over in 2009 and the menu, prices and certainly reflect that. My server was Erin and she was probably the best diner server I have met in many years of eating out. My coffee was fresh, delicious and my cup was never near empty and, even though the place was packed and she seemed to be the only server working, I never had to ask or wait for anything. I've worked in restaurants before and that is truly amazing. I ordered the Old Tom Joad off of "Suzan's Big Omelette Menu" and for 8.99 it was so big and yummy I'm surprised they can stay open charging so little for their incredible food! The previous owners lost me but these new folks know exactly how to please. I too have read the reviews that claim this place is "overpriced." If you're comparing to McDonalds, Burger King and Jack In The Box then, I guess you're right but this is a restaurant that belongs on TV and if you compare to other local diners or national chains they are MORE affordable and better by far!
